The study of the interaction between hydraulic structures in mobile bed river systems is complex because it involves sediment transport and dynamic changes in the boundary conditions, requiring the use of physical models. This article presents the procedure for the design and construction of a physical model of the reservoir and dam of the Small Hydroelectric Power Plant (SHPP) of Salto Paraopeba. In the design phase, computational modelling of sediment transport was used to reconstitute the primitive geometry of the river, and simulations of the flow regime and the transport capacity along the course of the river were also carried out; both results allowed to delimit the model extension. Considering the choice of scale and the similarity criteria between the model and the prototype, the use of a new alternative material was proposed, composed of crushed tire rubber particles, with a lower specific mass and a larger diameter than the prototype's sediment. In the construction phase, a new constructive method of the physical model was applied using fiberglass, the method presents constructive advantages, such as better representation of the morphology, lower weight, simple installation and uninstallation through modules, and simple and fast repairs, among others. RESUMO O estudo da interação entre estruturas hidráulicas em sistemas fluviais de leito móvel é complexo pois envolve transporte de sedimentos e mudanças dinâmicas nas condições de contorno, sendo necessário o uso de modelos físicos. Este artigo apresenta o procedimento para o desenho e construção de um modelo físico do reservatório e da barragem da Pequena Central Hidroelétrica (PCH) de Salto Paraopeba. Na fase de desenho, foi utilizada a modelagem computacional de transporte de sedimentos para a reconstituição da geometria primitiva do rio, também foram realizadas simulações do regime do escoamento e da capacidade de transporte ao longo do curso do rio; ambos os resultados permitiram delimitar a extensão do modelo. Considerando a escolha da escala e os critérios de semelhança entre o modelo e o protótipo, foi proposto o uso de um novo material alternativo, composto por partículas de borracha de pneu trituradas, de massa específica menor e diâmetro maior do que o sedimento do protótipo. Na fase de construção, foi aplicado um novo método construtivo do modelo físico empregando fibra de vidro, o método apresenta vantagens construtivas como melhor representação da morfologia, menor peso, instalação e desinstalação simples mediante módulos, e reparações simples e rápidas, entre outras.

A determinação da vazão aduzida em sistemas de condutos forçados, por exemplo, em uma usina hidrelétrica, é uma tarefa difícil de ser executada. Isto se deve a fatores como as dimensões físicas da instalação, as dificuldades de implementação de sensores no sistema e a existência de trechos fisicamente adequados para se executar a medição, etc. Dentre os diversos métodos existentes para a medição de grandes vazões o método de Pitot apresenta uma série de vantagens. Entretanto, a medição depende da calibragem do equipamento, que nem sempre é uma tarefa fácil de ser executada. Neste trabalho, apresenta-se uma metodologia para a calibragem de tubos de Pitot utilizando-se anemometria LASER. Assim, descreve-se o princípio de funcionamento do tubo de Pitot, a bancada de testes utilizada para a realização dos ensaios, incluindo os principais acessórios que permitem a variação da vazão na seção de teste, o anemômetro LASER Doppler utilizado e o arranjo físico adotado nos ensaios de calibragem do tubo de Pitot, que no caso foi o Pitot Cole. Com os dados obtidos foi possível determinar o coeficiente do Tubo de Pitot. Foi possível também fazer o levantamento da influência do bocal do equipamento no campo de velocidade em volta do tubo de Pitot. Posteriormente, fez-se uma análise comparativa da expressão obtida nos ensaios com outra expressão extraída da literatura. Apresenta-se a metodologia desenvolvida para a análise das incertezas das medições de velocidades e vazões determinadas em laboratório. To measure the inlet flow in closed systems, such as the inlet flow of a turbine in an electrical power plant, is a typically difficult task. There are several reasons for this, ranging from the size of the piping involved to the difficulty of finding an adequate position to install measuring devices (sensors) and the installation itself. Among several flow measurement methods, the Pitot tubes present a number of advantages. Calibration of this device, however, is far from trivial. The main goal of this work is to describe a framework to calibrate Pitot tubes using a LASER Doppler anenometer as a standard. The aforementioned description details the main parts of the laboratory setup and also the procedures followed during the calibration tests. The results discussed concern a Cole Pitot tube. The main coefficient of this device was estimated from test data. A major concern throughout the work was how the presence of the Pitot tube would influence the velocity vector field in the neighborhood of the stagnation pressure point. The results obtained are compared and discussed in the light of well-known results established in the literature. Preliminary results on confidence intervals for the measured velocity and flow are also presented and discussed.
