Cochlear implantation (CI) has revolutionized auditory rehabilitation for adults and children with bilateral severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). This translated to effective direct medical costs per QALY, including $9,029/QUALY for TTO, $7,500/QALY for VAS, and $5,197/QALY for HUI, and equated to an estimated net savings of $53,198 over a child's lifetime.
