Abstract

This paper shows the main regularities of changes in the electrochemical behavior of surfaces when using the EIS technique. It is found that the EIS technique in the galvanostatic environment is an efficient tool to study the pitting corrosion process. Optimal equivalent electrical circuits are proposed, reflective of the surface condition at different stages pitting corrosion propagation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

A periodic potentiostatic monitoring mode of the chromium-nickel steels surface state under the pitting corrosion is proposed. The scalar impedance angular coefficient calculated on the basis of the spectral analysis method application is shown to be used for assessing the chromium-nickel steel surface state. The software module used for calculating the studied steel grades angular coefficient values was developed and the module limit values characterizing the surface state were defined.
