- Abstract
This flag served as the national colors of the 28th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. The flag has twenty-three stars still intact on a blue canton (due to deterioration some stars have been lost). The stars appear to be arranged in a double-oval pattern. The flag's thirteen alternating red and white stripes are pieced. Text in the flag's red stripes reads: "CARNIFEX FERRY / MILLERS FERRY / PRINCETON / SOUTH MOUNTAIN / 28TH REGT. O.V.I. / ANTIETAM ... / PIEDMON ... ". Some of the flag's text is no longer legible or intact due to deterioration. The flag has a portion of gold fringe remaining on its top and bottom sides
