Analysis of the timber from St. Anne's Church in Skaruliai was carried out in 2018. The research aimed to revise the time of the construction of the churchand to reconstruct the history of repair works. The results of dendrochronological dating were compared with the facts recorded in archival documents. The oldest timber found in three beams of theceiling was dated to 1572–1574. The beams from the earlier building were reused. The dates question the traditionlly established fact that Andriejus Skorulskis built the church in 1620–1622. Based on dendrochronological dates of timber constructions and historical sources, it is possible to date the time of the construction of the church to 1592–1606. The building of the church might have begun in as early as 1592, because a deed was drawn up in Skaruliai on 29 June of that year by which the rights of collators of the church and the parsonage passed to Andrfius Miknevičius Skorulskis and his wife. Dating of the beams indicates that construction work in the church took place in the 1600s. The visitation act of 1716 testifies the fact that the church was already in place in the 1600s. The act mentions that on 21 August 1606, a sculptural group of the Crucifix with Sorrowful Virgin Mary abd St. John the Evangelist was raised on the wooden beam on the pillars above the presbyterian arch. Dating of St. Anne's Church in Skaruliai revealed at least five periods of the building renovation: 1670–1676, 1714–1716, 1731, 1756–1760, and after 1812.

Žmogaus veiklos sąlygojami vietinio, regioninio bei pasaulinio masto aplinkos pokyčiai ir pastaruoju metu aktyvėjanti klimato kaita daro vis didesnį poveikį natūralioms ir antropogeninėms ekosistemoms. Didžiausia problema yra ta, kad visi šie veiksniai augalus, kaip ir kitus gyvus organizmus, veikia kartu ir ištirti kompleksišką jų poveikį bei prognozuoti galimus tolesnius augalijos būklės, produktyvumo bei biologinės įvairovės pokyčius – ne tik ypač svarbus, bet ir labai sudėtingas uždavinys. Pagrindinis šio mokslinio klasterio vykdomų tyrimų tikslas – ištirti miškų ir agroekosistemų augalijos augimo, produktyvumo, struktūros, biologinės įvairovės ir būklės pokyčius kintant aplinkos ir klimato sąlygoms, įvertinti augalijos prisitaikymo prie šių pokyčių potencialą ir antropogeninio poveikio aplinkai bei klimatui mažinimo galimybes didinant gamybos ir vartojimo ekologinį veiksmingumą. Straipsnyje pateikiami pagrindiniai klasterio mokslininkų pastaraisiais metais atliktų tyrimų rezultatai. Antropogenic environmental changes such as depletion of stratosphere ozone layer and increase of ultraviolet radiation, increased ground level ozone concentration, environmental acidification and eutrophization, as well as, global climate changes usually are considered as main anthropogenic processes causing essential changes in vegetation state, productivity and biodiversity. The most complicated and important task is to investigate general response of vegetation to these factors and to forecast possible consequences. The main aim of this scientific cluster – to investigate changes in vegetation structure, productivity and biodiversity under changing environment and climate and to evaluate adaptive capacity of different wild and cultural plant species, as well as, possibilities to reduce environmental impact according to principles of sustainable development. The main results of scientific investigations in this field are presented in the article. Scientific head of cluster – prof. R. Juknys, chairmen of counsil – prof. V. Stravinskienė. Scientists and PhD students of Environmental department, Environmental research center, Botanical garden and Department of Physics takes part in this scientific cluster.

Straipsnyje apžvelgiama vaizdų analizės programa Cybis CooRecorder 7.1 (Cybis Elektronik & Data AB, Švedija), skirta matuoti rievių plotį. Naudodamiesi programa atlikome per 300 europinio maumedžio, paprastosios pušies, paprastosios eglės, karpotojo beržo ir paprastojo klevo medienos pavyzdžių matavimus bei įvertinome jos privalumus ir trūkumus. Rezultatai rodo, kad CooRecorder 7.1 programa dėl paprasto naudojimo, konkurencingos kainos funkcijų gausos yra tinkama rievių pločių matavimui. Vienas didesnių programos trūkumų – jos sąsaja su Microsoft .NET Framework komponentu. Dėl to gali kilti sunkumų programą įdiegiant nepatyrusiems kompiuterių vartotojams. The Cybis CooRecorder 7.1 (Cybis Elektronik & Data AB, Sweden) – software for the measurements of tree-ring widths from taken images is reviewed in the article. Using the software we performed measurements of more than 300 wood samples from European larch, Scots pine, Norway spruce, Silver birch, and Norway maple. During research the benefits and limitations of the CooRecorder were assessed. The research demonstrated that the CooRecorder 7.1 program because of simple usage, competitive price, and sufficient number of functions is suitable for measurements of tree-ring widths. One of the biggest limitations of the CooRecorder – its dependence on the Microsoft .NET Framework component. Therefore, inexperienced PC users may have difficulties while installing the CooRecorder.

Medžių lajų būklės bei stiebo radialiojo prieaugio pokyčius gali sukelti ir oro užterštumas, ir nepalankūs meteorologiniai veiksniai bei jų sąlygojami vabzdžių pažeidimai. Tačiau šiame darbe nagrinėjama ar skirtingos pakenkimo priežastys iš esmės sąlygoja pažeistų medynų atsikūrimo ypatumus, pasibaigus jų neigiamo poveikio laikotarpiui. Tyrimai atlikti spyglius graužiančių kenkėjų pažeistuose Dzūkijos NP pušynuose, kuriuose 1996 m. pradėjus naudoti biologinį insekticidą Foray-48B prasidėjo pušų būklės atsikūrimas. Šio proceso bendriesiems dėsningumams nustatyti, pušų būklės atsikūrimo duomenys spyglius graužiančių vabzdžių pažeistuose medynuose palyginti su analogiškais duomenimis, gautais AB „Achema“ poveikio zonoje augančiuose pušynuose, iš esmės sumažėjus jų užterštumo laipsniui. Nustatyta, kad nepriklausomai nuo medynų pažeidimo pobūdžio medžių lajų būklės ir radialiojo prieaugio atsikūrimo intensyvumas priklausė nuo medyno pažeidimo laipsnio. Kuo tirtas pušynas buvo labiau pažeistas, tuo medžių lajų būklė ir stiebų radialusis prieaugis atsikūrė intensyviau. Atsikūrimo laikotarpiu, net kai lajos defoliacija viršijo 90%, o stiebo apatinėje dalyje nesiformavo metinė rievė, prasidėdavo medžių lajų ir stiebo prieaugio intensyvus atsikūrimas. Tai patvirtino mūsų išvadą gautą užterštoje teritorijoje, kad faktiškai nei defoliacijos, nei stiebo radialiojo prieaugio ribinio slenksčio nėra, o egzistuoja tik didesnė ar mažesnė skirtingai pakenktų medžių atsikūrimo tikimybė. Air pollution as well as pest damage resulting from unfavourable temperatures and lack of humidity may contribute to essential changes in crown condition and stem radial increment. However, this study focuses on analysis whether these reasons of tree damage contribute to the recovery peculiarities of the damaged stands when the period of the influence of unfavourable factors is over. The study was performed in Scots pine stands damaged by needle devouring pests of Dzūkija NP when after application of the biological insecticide Foray-48B against forest pests recovery of pine condition started. To identify tree recovery peculiarities the obtained data were compared with the analogous data obtained in pine stands growing in zone under JC “Achema” impact when degree of pollution was essentially reduced. The obtained results indicated that the intensity of the recovery of tree crown and radial increment depends on stand damage degree. The higher degree of damage resulted in the more intensive recovery of tree crown and radial increment. Over the period of recovery even when tree crown defoliation exceeded 90%, and at the lower part of stem annual ring was not formed, intensive crown condition and stem increment recovery started. The results of this study have clearly indicated that actually there is no threshold for defoliation or stem radial increment and there only exists the higher or lower recovery probability of severely damaged trees. Причиной серьезных изменений состояния крон деревьев и радиального прироста стволов, может стать как высокий уровень загрязнения воздуха, так и в результате неблагоприятных метеорологических условии возникшие повреждения хвоегрызущих насекомых. Однако в представленной работе изучалось – имеет ли характер повреждения деревьев влияние на восстановление таких поврежденных деревьев в период окончания их негативного воздействия. Исследования проводились в поврежденных хвоегрызущими энтовредителями сосняках произростающих в Нациольном парке Дзукия, в которых с использованием биологического инсектицида Foray-48B начилось интенсивное востановление состояния крон и прироста стволов. Для выявления закономерностей восстановления поврежденных сосняков, полученные данные были сравнены с данными – в сосняках произростающих в зоне действия АО ,,Аchema'' в период существенного уменьшения уровня загрязнения. Установлено, что независимо от хара����тера повреждения древостоев, интенсивность восстановления состояния крон и радиального прироста стволов зависит от уровня повреждения древостоев. Чем исследованные древостои были повреждены сильнее, тем интенсивнее происходило их восстановление. В период восстановления, даже когда дефоляция крон привышала 90%, а в нижней части ствола несформировался годовой прирост, с ок��нчанием негативного воздействия исследованных факторов, начиналось интенсивное восстановление состояния деревьев.
