Background: Bone density is affected by age- and sex-related changes in the os coxae, often known as the pelvic bone. Recent developments in computed tomography (CT) imaging have created new opportunities for quantitative analysis, notably regarding Hounsfield Units (HU). Objectives: The study aims to investigate the possibility of using HU obtained from os coxae CT scans to estimate age in the Romanian population. Methods: A statistical analysis was conducted on a sample of 80 pelvic CT scans in order to find any significant correlation between age, sex, and variation in density among the different pelvic bone locations of interest. According to the research, pelvic radiodensity measurements varied significantly between male and female participants, with men having greater levels. This technique may be valuable for determining an individual's sex precisely, as evidenced by the substantial association found between HU levels and changes in bone density associated with sex. Results: The analysis of variance underscores that HU values exhibit a significant negative relationship with radiodensity, with a general trend of decreasing HU with increasing age. The equation derived from the ordinary least squares OLS regression analysis can be used to estimate the age of individuals in the Romanian population based on their HU values at specific pelvic sites. Conclusions: In conclusion, the application of HU analysis in CT imaging of the coxae represents a non-invasive and potentially reliable method for age and sex estimation, and a promising avenue in the field of human identification. Over the past two decades, the use of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) inhibitors has significantly improved the treatment of patients with immune-mediated inflammatory diseases. Firstly, introduced for rheumatoid arthritis, these inhibitors are currently approved and used for a variety of conditions, including ankylosing spondylitis, Crohn's disease, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, ulcerative colitis, and chronic uveitis. Despite their immense therapeutic efficacy, TNF-α inhibitors have been associated with neurological adverse effects that bring new clinical challenges. The present review collects data from multiple studies to evaluate the incidence and the relationship between TNF-α inhibitors and neurological side effects and to explore the potential underlying mechanisms of this association. Moreover, it highlights the importance of patient selection, particularly in the case of individuals with a history of demyelinating diseases, raises awareness for clinicians, and calls for ongoing research that will improve TNF-α targeting strategies and offer safer and more effective therapeutic options. (1) Background: Pulse oximetry (PO) is an effective method of dental pulp status monitorization but still lacks practical implementation in dentistry, as well as clear reference values for different tooth types. The study's aim was to investigate the age-related variation of blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) from the dental pulp during different stages of tooth development in all types of primary and permanent teeth of children. (2) Methods: The pulps of 600 healthy primary and permanent teeth (incisors, canines, premolars, and molars) of patients aged 2–15 years were tested with an adapted PO device, and the results were statistically analyzed; (3) Results: Statistically significant differences (p < 0.05) were found between open-apex and closed-apex teeth and between the canines and other tooth types in both primary and permanent dentitions. (4) Conclusions: Values of SpO2 tended to decrease with age progression in both primary and permanent dentitions. Enamel and dentine thickness and their optical properties and the shape and volume of coronal pulp, which differed among tooth types, seemed to have some influence on the reading as well. The study indicates that factors such as the root development and the tooth type must be taken into account when establishing reference SpO2 values for the dental pulp. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The progressive replacement of traditional methods with high-tech (complex) intelligent mechatronic systems, technologies and equipment is one of the most important aspects of the production processes evolution in all industrial fields. Due to accelerated progress of technology transferred in multiple technological innovations, extremely favorable conditions have been created for the development of production and thus of the manufacturing technologies and intelligent control on the automatization way of all subsystems constituting technological processes. New intelligent mechatronic technologies of 3D integrated control offer an integrated portfolio of software solutions and measurable difference for an enhanced quality by accelerating the time needed to produce the components, while the costs of new products are considerably reduced, but also for product development, fundamentally oriented towards ensuring a high level of efficiency in manufacturing and integrated control by increasing the profitability and satisfaction of product delivery requirements. Three-dimensional scanning is available for more than 15 years, however there are few that have heard of it and as few people know the applications of this technology. 3D scanning is also known as 3D digitizing, the name coming from the fact that this is a process that uses a contact or non-contact digitizing probe to capture the objects form and recreate them in a virtual workspace through a very dense network of points (xyz) as a 3D graph representation. Most automotive manufacturers currently use 3D metrology based on optical or laser systems to validate products quality. The pieces are initially measured by 3D scanning then they are compared with the designed model (CAD file) using a specialized software. The overall accuracy of a 3D acquisition system depends above all on the sensor's precision and on the acquisition device (acquisition with contact) or acquisition structure (acquisition without contact). This accuracy may vary from micron to millimetre and the acquisition's size from a few points to several thousand points per second.
