Abstract

Chemical investigation of the hydnoid fungus Sarcodontia setosa resulted in the isolation of five compounds, including two new sarcodontic acid derivatives – setosic acid (1) and 7,8-dehydrohomosarcodontic acid (2) along with three known benzoquinone pigments – sarcodontic acid (3), 4,5-dehydrosarcodontic acid (4) and dihydrosarcodontic acid (5). The structures were elucidated using spectroscopic methods (UV, NMR and HR-ESIMS). The biosynthetic relationship of the isolated compounds is proposed and discussed. Antibacterial activity screening of compounds 1–5 against ESKAPE bacterial strains in vitro with zones of inhibition was performed and MIC values were established for the most active compounds (3 and 5). 13. Re-habilitation of Cerioporus(Polyporus) rangiferinus, a sib of Cerioporus squamosus

Abstract

The paper is devoted to taxonomical revision ofCerioporus (Polyporus)squamosus(Basidiomycota,Agaricomycetes,Polyporaceae) using of comparative-morphological analysis as well as ITS rDNA data set. A separate species,Cerioporus rangiferinuswas restored on the basis of analysis of ITS divergence and ecological and morphological features. An epitype ofBoletus rangiferinuswas described on authentic authors' material and new combination inCerioporusgenus was made. This restored species is characterized by ramified stipe covered with umbrine to blackish thick cuticle and a tendency to pileus reduction. The pilei inC. rangiferinusare nail-shaped to spathulate in outline in contrast with wide reniform pilei ofC. squamosus. The spore variability spectra are overlapping inC. rangiferinusandC. squamosus. Both species show a tendency to largest spore formation in terminal stages of tube maturation. It was assumed that speciation ofC. rangiferinuscan be result of certain specialization to buried wood colonization.

Abstract

Fifty-two species of aphyllophoroid fungi have been recorded for the first time from the Belogor’e Nature Reserve and from the Belgorod Region of Russia. An annotated list of records with data on substrate, habitat type and voucher numbers (LE, OHHI) is provided. Several rare and restrictedly distributed species in Europe are presented, viz. Hapalopilus croceus, Phellinus rimosus, Pseudomerulius aureus, Sarcoporia polyspora, and Skeletocutis odora. Two species, Gloeohypochnicium analogum and Granulobasidium vellereum, are proposed to be considered as indicators of biologically valuable broad-leaved forests in Eastern Europe.
