With the growing prevalence of digital platforms for online shopping, advertising, and marketing activities in general, it is imperative to better understand how designs of virtual elements on digital interfaces influence click behavior. Websites and online advertisements contain virtual elements such as call-to-action buttons, images, and logos. This research examines how curved versus sharp angled shapes of virtual elements in online ads and on websites influence click-through rates (CTRs). The findings of a series of studies, including three field experiments and an eye tracking study, show that website and online ad elements in curved (vs. sharp angled) shapes generate higher CTRs. Process evidence suggests that curved (vs. sharp angled) digital elements enhance visual appeal, leading to approach motivation and greater CTR. In terms of practical implications, the findings of this research have strong relevance for designing online ads and website interfaces and for digital marketing strategies. Self-administered web surveys provide respondents only limited opportunities for feedback. Therefore, many web surveys include so-called "final comment questions" (FCQs) that allow respondents to elaborate on the survey in general and the survey questions in particular. Typing in open answers in text boxes is burdensome – especially via smartphones with virtual on-screen keypads – so that respondents frequently provide short or no answers at all. In this study, we make use of new technological advancements in web survey methodology and investigate FCQs with requests for written and oral answers. For this purpose, we conducted an experiment in a smartphone survey (N = 1,001) in a German online panel. The results reveal that FCQs with a request for written and oral answers do not differ with respect to item-nonresponse. However, oral answers are substantially longer than written answers pointing to more in-depth information. The oral answer condition also results in more positive comments than the written answer condition. Recent developments in communication technology and changes in people's communication habits facilitate new data collection forms in web surveys. Technical devices, such as computers, tablets, and smartphones, enable researchers to rethink established communication forms and add a human touch to web surveys. Designing web surveys more human-like has the great potential to make communication between researchers and respondents more natural, which may result in higher survey satisfaction and data quality. Considering the existing survey literature, there are only a few studies investigating respondents' willingness for new communication forms in web surveys. Hence, in the present study, we explore respondents' willingness to take part in web surveys to have interviewers read questions via pre-recorded videos (question delivery) and in which respondents provide their answers orally via self-recorded videos (question answering). We included two willingness questions – one on question delivery via pre-recorded videos and one on question answering via self-recorded videos – in the non-probability SoSci panel in Germany. The results reveal that respondents' willingness to have questions read by interviewers is higher than their willingness to self-record video answers. Believing that technology facilitates communication and perceiving the survey as being interesting increases willingness, whereas evaluating the survey topic as sensitive decreases willingness. Decreasing web survey participation rates lead to higher importance of ways to increase respondents' motivation to participate and gamification is seen as one of possible ways to do so. However, there is no clear understanding on how it affects respondents' cognitive load. This study investigates whether gamification reduces cognitive load among 18–25-year-old survey respondents. A laboratory experiment was conducted with 128 randomly assigned students to either a non-gamified or gamified web survey design. Gamification was implemented using emojis for ordinal scales and motivating memes between sets of questions. Cognitive load was measured through paradata, subjective evaluation, and neurophysiological indicator (pupil diameter dynamics). Results show higher cognitive effort for the gamification group based on pupil diameter dynamics, but subjective evaluation, mouse movements, and completion times show increased cognitive effort for the non-gamified group. Attention was higher for the gamification group, and data quality did not differ. Therefore, gamification may increase cognitive load, but it also increases motivation and engagement, leading to similar data quality compared to non-gamified web surveys. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

CRISPR/Cas base editors offer precise conversion of single nucleotides without inducing double-strand breaks. This technology finds extensive applications in gene therapy, gene function analysis, and other domains. However, a crucial challenge lies in selecting the appropriate guide RNAs (gRNAs) for base editing. Although various gRNAs design tools exist, creating a simplified base-editing library with diverse protospacer adjacent motifs (PAM) sequences for gRNAs screening remains a challenge. We present a user-friendly web tool, BES-Designer (https://bes-designer.aielab.net), for gRNAs design based on base editors, aimed at streamlining the creation of a base-editing library. BES-Designer incorporates our proposed rules for target sequence simplification, helping researchers narrow down the scope of biological experiments in the lab. It allows users to design target sequences with various PAMs and editing types simultaneously, and prioritize them in the simplified base-editing library. The article presents a perspective on online museum design by conducting a systematic review. The study aims to synthesize key findings related to online museums, focus on issues related to design as well as identify priority areas for further research in the design of online museums. The systematic review process followed the guidelines outlined in the PRISMA 2020 recommendations to select relevant articles. A search was conducted in the Web of Science database with the specific topic of “online museum design.” A total of 148 publications published between 2019 and 2023 were identified and selected for the review. A keywords map was generated based on the bibliographic data of the selected articles. By conducting a systematic review of publications from the Web of Science database, the study identifies five clusters of research in online museum design. These clusters cover topics such as visitor behavior, accessibility, authenticity, immersive technologies, and technology adoption. The findings highlight key aspects of design that impact user engagement, cultural heritage, virtual reality, and the intersection of technology and tourism. The review also includes a case study of online museums representing various types of artifacts, including historical and cultural heritage, art, science, nature, clothing, and museums for children. Overall, the systematic review provides valuable insights for researchers, practicing designers, and museum professionals involved in creating and curating online museum experiences. Further research involves a review of publications using other scientific databases, as well as using the term “virtual museum” for a wider coverage of publications in this direction. This article proposes to study graphic design templates, a singular digital material object that underpins a large part of our contemporary visual environment. Based on interviews with original template creators for Aldus PageMaker, this article traces the main steps of their evolution from their creation in the desktop publishing industry to how templates on the web came to differ from how they were originally envisioned. Building on this historical inquiry, this article shows how templates have transformed the practice, aesthetic, and even the role of graphic designers. By inverting the role of the graphic designer, who now must invent shapes for content that does not yet exist, templates may be understood as an extension of the design grid or visual identity guidelines which are also key yet invisible graphic design intermediary tools. However, templates' digital and deterministic nature transforms their effects and brings into play a constant tension between the emancipation and control of amateur graphic designers. This study considers how to quickly find the order in which to present a set of text artifacts on mobile apps or websites such that those artifacts are maximally semantically separated. Semantic separation is desirable because it ensures that users experience as much novelty as possible from one item to the next, thereby improving user attention and engagement. Since an exhaustive search of all possible sequences of text items becomes increasingly infeasible as the length of the sequence grows, a new algorithm is proposed to quickly find the semantically optimal presentation order for a set of text artifacts. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated using an extensive set of experiments involving three different types of text artifacts, seven different sequence lengths, and more than 600 experimental trials. The results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can select statistically optimal sequences of text artifacts extremely quickly, regardless of the type of text artifacts being used as input or the length of the sequence. App and website developers who are seeking to hold users' attention and improve user engagement may therefore find the proposed algorithm very attractive in comparison to an exhaustive search. Refuge preferences can be crucial behavioural traits for survival. Here, we explore the refuge preferences of the threatened katipō spider (Latrodectus katipo) and invasive false katipō (Steatoda capensis) (Araneae, Theridiidae). We conducted experimental assays using artificial refuges in the laboratory to test individual preferences for refuge shape, surface, and height. We also tested how refuge type affects the number of web trap lines built for prey capture. Both species preferred V-shaped refuges over rectangular refuges, with no evidence of a preference for other refuge types. For reasons that remain unclear, individuals varied in their preferences for surface and height in both their daily and final choices, but only in shape during their daily choices. Katipō spiders showed refuge fidelity in all three assays, however, there was also evidence of individual variation in refuge fidelity in the shape assay. False katipō spiders only displayed refuge fidelity in the shape and surface assays. Spiders built more web trap lines under V-shaped refuges than rectangular refuges, suggesting higher activity and greater refuge investment, which may further reflect a preference for V-shaped refuges. While V-shaped refugia are not exclusively preferred by katipō, introducing V-shaped artificial refuges into their habitats could help support the persistence and expansion of katipō populations. Although false katipō are also likely to use these refugia, the decline of sand dunes has limited the availability of natural refugia. A major challenge for mobile commerce operators is how to attract customers to access their websites displayed on a mobile device screen only twice the size of a palm, so making design of such websites is especially important in order to catch customers' eyes. Based on S-O-R model, the study developed a research model to explain how aesthetics of m-commerce websites affects customers' continuing access to the websites. The model was evaluated through a stratified survey of 285 participants on m-commerce websites with varying levels of mobile website aesthetics. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was utilized to analyze the data. The results uphold the applicability of visual aesthetics (VisAWI) scale in m-commerce, which has significant positive effect on websites' perceived usability. The study also finds that mobile websites selling experience goods have higher demand for website aesthetics than those for search goods. The study offers a well-structured practical instrument based on visual aesthetics (VisAWI) scale, helping mobile website designers understand the effect of specific aesthetic elements on user behavioral intention. Developing empathy skills is crucial for software developers to create user-centric solutions and design exceptional user experiences addressing the diverse needs of customers. This paper presents the findings of a quasi-experimental study that aimed to enhance empathy among computer science students through the exposure of two interventions utilizing teaching accessibility design. The study included 15 participants from a computer science course. Qualitative data analysis of participants' reflections highlighted the transformative impact of the interventions, as participants expressed changes in their views towards people with impairments and reported the development of technical and soft skills, as well as enhanced empathy. The interventions also motivated participants to make changes to their team website designs, prioritize accessibility, and apply their learnings in their professional lives. A second measure assessed in this study was an expert website review which provided valuable feedback for improvement and yielded a high average score for screen reader accessibility. By equipping future computer scientists with these skills, we can ensure that technology meets the diverse needs of all users, promoting inclusivity and enhancing user experiences. Industry 4.0 has introduced a data-driven model of production and management of goods and services. This manufacturing paradigm leverages the potential of the Internet of Things (IoT), but finding the information necessary to drive manufacturing processes can be challenging. In this context, the authors propose an innovative approach based on axiomatic design to design RDF knowledge graphs from which to extract the information needed by decision makers. This approach derives from the possibility of providing RDF knowledge graphs with an equivalent matrix representation based on axiomatic design. It allows the selection of the most reliable data sources, thereby optimizing the knowledge graph construction process using matrix algebra, minimizing redundancy and improving the efficiency of query response. The goal of the presented methodology is to address the five critical aspects of Big Data (volume, velocity, variety, value, and veracity) by preordering the knowledge graph according to the information needs of business decision makers, thereby optimizing the use of the immense wealth of information made available by the Web in design. The aim of this study is to increase the load–displacement capacities of beams with web openings exposed to cyclic loading, to reduce the distortion in rigidity and to design high-strength beams with web holes designed according to BS 5950 specifications. The tests were carried out on five 2400 mm long, non-composite IPE240 cross-section beams. The ratio of the beam height to the diameter of the web opening is determined according to the BS 5950 specifications: for the beam with the ratio of 1.25 (lower limit) the diameter of the opening is 192 mm, for the beam with the ratio of 1.75 (upper limit) the diameter of the opening is 137 mm, for the beam with the ratio of 1.5 the diameter of the opening is 160 mm, and for the beam with the ratio of 1.618 the diameter of the opening is 148 mm. The beam with a ratio of body height to opening diameter of 1.618 (Golden Ratio) was compared with the perfect model and other beams with different opening diameters. According to the BS 5950 specification, when the ratio of beam height to circle diameter reaches 1.618, the opening diameter in the beam web exceeds the upper limit. However, in the beams examined in this study that exceed the upper limit of the specification, it was found that the beams carried 11.62% more moment and 11.63% more load, and their energy absorption capacity increased by 22.19%. In addition, the decrease in the moment bearing capacity, load bearing capacity and energy absorption capacity of the beam optimized with the golden ratio was determined as the optimization that shows the closest mechanical behavior to the perfect sample with a decrease of 20.65–24.1% and 4.12%, respectively. In this study, finite element analyses and experimental data were used to validate the experimental results of the designs and to examine the deformation modes and nonlinear behavior of the beams with web openings. As a result of the research, it has been determined that the mechanical properties of the beam subjected to cyclic loads and designed according to the golden ratio are closer to the perfect model. Public libraries with multilingual communities should provide adequate access to multilingual resources to meet the needs of community members. Few previous studies have addressed online access to multilingual collections of public libraries that serve multilingual communities. This article highlights challenges in supporting multilingual users on public library websites that have multilingual users by asking what factors are involved, how the problems will eventually be solved, and what features will be needed in website design and indexing to enhance multilingual support. Teaching Internet technologies to Multimedia Design students contributes to their success in the labour market, provided that the project method and other similar approaches are used in the learning process. The article analyses the experience of teaching modern Internet technologies to students of the Master's programme "Multimedia Design" at the Art and Graphic Faculty of the Pedagogical University. Research methods: analysis of scientific and pedagogical literature and pedagogical experiment. It was established that the problem of teaching students in creative training areas technical skills required for creating Internet products can be solved by using no-code technology and the individual project method. Using creating a website for a randomly selected customer and developing one's own art and pedagogical Internet project as the example, we analysed the application of the individual practice-oriented project method. The results allowed us to draw conclusions that creating digital products without writing code enables students to perform completed Internet projects using special services and platforms, and the method of individual practice-oriented project allows them to perform personally significant Internet projects and helps to increase motivation for learning and the formation of universal and professional competences. The results of the study can be used in teaching Internet technologies to creative students.

Master transcription factors (MTFs) activate gene expression in pluripotent embryonic stem cells (ESCs) by binding to enhancers and super-enhancers, which precisely control ESC fate. Compelling evidence reveals a strong correlation between the operation of MTFs and the initiation and progression of cancer. Nevertheless, the challenge of identifying MTFs imposes a barrier for researchers. Therefore, we developed a master transcription factors prediction and analysis web resource (MTFAP). MTFAP is a comprehensive web tool designed to predict and analyze MTFs with different data types. To enhance user experience and facilitate exploration of interest MTFs, MTFAP offers search and browse functionalities. Furthermore, we have developed a Docker file to empower users with the capability to conduct localized analyses Additionally, MTFAP extends support for further analysis and data visualization for the MTFs identified by Coltron and CRCmapper. This study aimed to investigate users' perspectives on the significance of the library website features missing from an academic library website according to PD criteria. Based on a valid and reliable checklist of the PD criteria and their features, an academic library website was carefully explored to identify the features under each PD criterion which were missing from the website. The resulting data was used to design a researcher-developed questionnaire to investigate users' views on the significance of these missing features. The findings highlighted the significance of the PD criteria features missing from the library website. Finally, several courses of action for librarians and website designers are suggested. In today's fast-paced world, effectively managing personal expenses is crucial for maintaining financial stability and achieving long-term goals. However, many existing systems lack a user-friendly interface to efficiently track and categorize expenses. Users often struggle to enter expense details manually and visualize their spending trends over time. These limitations can make it difficult to identify spending patterns and create effective financial plans. Without proper categorization and reporting features, users may fail to track their expenses accurately, which leads to poor financial decisions. To overcome these drawbacks, the new system features a modern, user-friendly website built using Python and Flask. This system allows users to easily enter their expense details, including the category of the expense, such as food, entertainment, transportation, or utilities. The website is designed to ensure that users can quickly input their daily expenses, making it more accessible and intuitive. With Flask as the backend framework, the system ensures efficient processing of user data and seamless integration of the front-The end interface provides a smooth experience for users who are not necessarily tech-savvy. One of the key features of the proposed system is its ability to visualize the entered data in various formats, allowing users to view their expenses on a day-byday, month-by-month, or year-by-year basis. The system uses interactive graphs and charts to display data, making it easy for users to track their spending patterns over time. In addition, users can generate detailed reports based on their selected timeframe, which provides insights into their financial habits and helps facilitate better decision-making. Background/Objectives: Destination Development, Management, and Marketing Organizations (DDMMOs) have the power to influence perceptions and behaviors regarding both actual and virtual travel in the rapidly changing landscape of digital environments. Within newly emerging Metaverse platforms, their websites can serve as critical touchpoints that enhance destination attractiveness and enable visitors to engage in valuable experiences. In this vein, this research attempts to determine if DDMMO website quality and destination image can influence users' intention to virtually visit a place by using a Metaverse platform. Methods: Users who navigated a European DDMMO website were asked to fill out a self-administered questionnaire, and 318 responses were collected. Then, structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to test the research hypothesis. Results: The results show that website interactivity and affective destination image had a direct positive impact on a user's intention to use the Metaverse platform. Furthermore, indirect impacts of website design and usefulness and cognitive destination image were detected. Conclusions: DDMMOs and destination marketing experts can gain valuable insights from the outcomes of this research. ABSTRACT We are surrounded by overwhelming big data, which brings substantial advances but meanwhile poses many challenges. A very large portion of big data contains geospatial information and hence geospatial big data, which is crucial for decision making if being utilized strategically. Among others, volumes in size and high dimensions are two major challenges that prevent strategic decision making from geospatial big data. Interactive map‐based and geovisualization enabled web applications are intuitive and useful to construct knowledge. More importantly, such interactive web map applications are powerful to intuitively reveal insights from high‐dimensional geospatial big data for actionable decision making. We propose an interactive and data‐driven web mapping framework, named dciWebMapper, for visualizing and sensing high‐dimensional geospatial (big) data in an interactive and scalable manner. To demonstrate the wide applicability and usefulness of our framework, we have applied our dciWebMapper framework to three real‐world case studies and implemented three corresponding web map applications: iLit4GEE‐AI, iWURanking, and iTRELISmap. We expect and hope the three web maps demonstrated in different domains, from literature big data analysis to world university ranking to scholar mapping, will provide a good start and inspire researchers and practitioners in various domains to apply our dciWebMapper to solve and/or aid in solving impactful problems. Most scientific facilities produce large amounts of heterogeneous data at a rapid pace. Managing users, instruments, reports and invoices presents additional challenges. To address these challenges, EMhub, a web platform designed to support the daily operations and record‐keeping of a scientific facility, has been introduced. EMhub enables the easy management of user information, instruments, bookings and projects. The application was initially developed to meet the needs of a cryoEM facility, but its functionality and adaptability have proven to be broad enough to be extended to other data‐generating centers. The expansion of EMHub is enabled by the modular nature of its core functionalities. The application allows external processes to be connected via a REST API, automating tasks such as folder creation, user and password generation, and the execution of real‐time data‐processing pipelines. EMhub has been used for several years at the Swedish National CryoEM Facility and has been installed in the CryoEM center at the Structural Biology Department at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. A fully automated single‐particle pipeline has been implemented for on‐the‐fly data processing and analysis. At St. Jude, the X‐Ray Crystallography Center and the Single‐Molecule Imaging Center have already expanded the platform to support their operational and data‐management workflows. Mixed-mode surveys are popular as they can save costs and maintain (or improve) response rates relative to single-mode surveys. Nevertheless, it is not yet clear how design decisions like survey mode or questionnaire length impact measurement quality. In this study, we compare measurement quality in an experiment of three distinct survey designs implemented in the German sample of the European Values Study: a single-mode face-to-face design, a mixed-mode mail/web design, and a shorter (matrix) questionnaire in the mixed-mode design. We compare measurement quality in different ways, including differences in distributions across several data quality indicators as well as equivalence testing over 140 items in 25 attitudinal scales. We find similar data quality across the survey designs, although the mixed-mode survey shows more item nonresponse compared to the single-mode survey. Using equivalence testing we find that most scales achieve metric equivalence and, to a lesser extent, scalar equivalence across the designs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Motivation Enzymatic reaction play a pivotal role in regulating cellular processes with a high degree of specificity to biological functions. When enzymatic reactions are disrupted by gene, protein, or metabolite dysfunctions in diseases, it becomes crucial to visualize the resulting perturbed enzymatic reaction-induced multi-omics network. Multi-omics network visualization aids in gaining a comprehensive understanding of the functionality and regulatory mechanisms within biological systems. Results In this study, we designed PhenoMultiOmics, an enzymatic reaction-based multi-omics web server designed to explore the scope of the multi-omics network across various cancer types. We first curated the PhenoMultiOmics database, which enables the retrieval of cancer-gene–protein-metabolite relationships based on the enzymatic reactions. We then developed the MultiOmics network visualization module to depict the interplay between genes, proteins, and metabolites in response to specific cancer-related enzymatic reactions. The biomarker discovery module facilitates functional analysis through differential omic feature expression and pathway enrichment analysis. PhenoMultiOmics has been applied to analyze the transcriptomics data of gastric cancer and the metabolomics data of lung cancer, providing mechanistic insights into interrupted enzymatic reactions and the associated multi-omics network. The aim of this study is to examine how e-learning website features distinguish in cultural context and to propose the adaptation possibilities of the specific cultural characteristics in e-learning website design with regard to the influence of different cultural dimensions on quality perception. This study examine Hofstede's culture dimensions in the context of their influence on students' attitudes towards e-learning website quality. On example of Polish students' experiences the influence of cultural values connected with Hofstede's culture dimensions on e-learning websites perception have been examined. From the results of this study, it can be inferred that culture plays a significant role in the quality perception of e-learning websites.. The findings from this study are consistent with previous studies related to cross-cultural differences in users' preferences regarding to website features, and show the role of cultural influences in the appropriate e-learning website design. The reduced beam section (RBS) connections in steel structures are widely used to achieve sufficient ductility and avoid creating brittle failures in moment‐resisting frames. Compared to other types of connections, conventional RBS connections have the potential to reduce moment capacity and induce larger lateral deformation in the structure. In order to resolve this problem, novel forms of RBS connections have been proposed in recent years, such as tubular web RBS connections, which have shown a desirable performance under various loading conditions in previous studies. Therefore, this study conducted an analytic and numerical investigation of this connection under seismic loading. In this regard, the first step is to introduce the analytic equations related to the structural properties and stability of the reduced beam with the tubular web. Using these equations, a comprehensive procedure for the design of the tubular web RBS connections is presented. After that, a numerical model of the tubular web RBS connections is created and then analyzed under cyclic loading using the finite element method in ABAQUS software. Based on the results of this simulation, the suggested connection meets the criteria of valid international standards and can be used in the special moment‐resisting frame. In order to assess the impact of using the proposed connection in moment‐resisting frames, the performance of two 2D moment‐resisting frames with this connection is studied. This study shows that the maximum percentage increase in relative displacement caused by using tubular web RBS connections is 1.68%, whereas this figure rises to 10.6% when conventional RBS connections are used. Therefore, the designers can use tubular web RBS connections instead of conventional RBS connections to increase the lateral stability of the structure and control its lateral deflection due to the seismic loadings without having to increase the dimensions of the frame elements. In recent years, there has been a compelling need to adopt cold‐formed ultra‐high‐strength steel (CFUSS) in the construction industry owing to its numerous advantages, such as a higher strength‐to‐weight ratio, flexibility in achieving desired shapes, and adaptability over longer spans. Among the various applications, CFUSS lipped channel sections are commonly used as purlins and joists in steel structural systems. However, these sections are susceptible to different failure modes, particularly web crippling, which presents significant challenges. Currently, the current design rules lack specific guidelines for estimating the web crippling capacity of CFUSS sections. To address this crucial gap, the present study focuses on a comprehensive numerical investigation of the web crippling response of CFUSS lipped channel sections under interior‐two‐flange (ITF) loading conditions. Finite element (FE) models were developed using the ABAQUS package, verified against published test data, and subsequently used in an extensive parametric study. The ultimate web crippling capacity obtained from the parametric study was used to evaluate the accuracy of the current design equations in various design standards. The findings revealed that the existing design equations inadequately predicted the ultimate web crippling capacity of CFUSS lipped channel sections subjected to the ITF loading condition. Consequently, a modified design equation is proposed, utilizing the same approach as the current design standards, and a new direct strength method (DSM) approach is developed and verified through reliability analysis. Purpose: The home page design of a digital news website is a key factor in determining its attractiveness to readers. This study aims to propose an approach to manage the frequent adjustment of the dynamic layout of the news content on the website home page in a real-time environment to increase its attractiveness to readers. Design/methodology/approach: This paper shows that this news website layout design problem can be modeled as an optimization problem based on the information of news contents that change within a multiple-period planning horizon similar to the dynamic facility layout problem. A hybrid genetic algorithm-based approach integrated with local search heuristic methods is also proposed to improve the solution. Findings: This paper finds that the DPLP model is effective in modeling the changing layout of a digital news website. The problem can solved in a timely manner using the proposed hybrid genetic algorithm. Research limitations/implications: This paper was based on hypothetical data and on the assumption of equal section size. Actual data would help fine-tune the application of the dynamic facility layout model. As well the algorithm could be enhanced for unequal size sections. Practical implications: The model should help online newspapers apply sophisticated algorithms to optimize the layout of news websites dynamically in a timely manner. Social implications: News websites are increasingly the desired medium to consume news. So it has an important role in educating society. Thus optimizing and improving the process will help in this regard. Although online shopping has increased globally, South Africa (SA) still lags behind developed countries in the adoption of online shopping. This study aimed at determining which online shopping system functionalities drive e-customer satisfaction in SA. Specifically, the study examined if website and logistics system functionality can predict e-customer satisfaction. A positivistic quantitative approach was adopted to collect data using a structured self-administered questionnaire. A final usable sample of 237 South African online shoppers older than 18 years was obtained in the online survey. Convenience and snowball sampling was used to collect data and analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The study concludes that only website system functionality augments e-customer satisfaction, while logistics system functionality is an element of the shopping experience that falls outside the scope of this article. Online shops should thus carefully plan the design of their website to ensure it is functional and meets or exceeds customers' expectations. The website must perform in the manner for which it is designed and guide customers to product categories with relative ease and enable quick product image downloads. The International Telecommunication Union has estimated that more than half of the world's population use the Internet and access the hosted websites for various purposes like business, education, and social networking. These websites need to be accessible to people with visual impairments like color blindness. Thus, the design of such websites needs to follow certain web accessibility guidelines considering the accessibility for the colorblind. In this study, the authors have proposed a novel heuristic method to evaluate the compliance to the web accessibility guidelines provided by WCAG through a web accessibility score. This score is arrived at by evaluating the web design compliance to these mentioned guidelines based on a well-defined set of heuristics. As part of the experiment, websites from four categories were evaluated using the proposed method and the web accessibility score of the websites was arrived at with respect to color blindness disability. The results confirm the applicability of the proposed method to evaluate the websites for accessibility to colorblind people. The important research contributions are as follows: (a) a web accessibility score that helps to quantify the compliance to WCAG guidelines for color blindness by a web site; (b) a compilation of WCAG guidelines for web designers to design websites complying to accessibility for colorblind; (c) the proposed novel method would be further useful to check web accessibility compliance for users with other disabilities and give an indication of inclusivity for them; and (d) the novel heuristic method includes tool evaluation and manual observation ensuring maximum coverage for web accessibility guidelines. Digitization has significantly impacted the purchasing behavior of luxury consumers. Now, luxury brands are trying to maximize consumers' experiential value through 'phygital' marketing. Considering this trend, it is crucial to analyze how luxury brand websites are structured and perceived by consumers. Accordingly, this study investigates how the attributes of luxury brands' websites build customer-based brand equity (CBBE), satisfaction, and repurchase intention. To examine the relationship, an online survey was conducted with 422 consumers in the United States who had previously visited luxury brand official websites and had previous online shopping experiences. The results show that emotional appeal, web design, and customer service have a positive effect on CBBE, which positively influences satisfaction and repurchase intention. For luxury brands, it is important to not only increase sales but also to improve brand equity. In this context, this research verifies the effect of the website attributes of luxury brands on CBBE. Latinos are among the populations who are the least likely to use assistive technology (AT) despite being a population with a high prevalence of functional disabilities (FDs). We aimed to create and test the usability of an AT web app for independent-living older adults with FDs. In Phase I, we created the web app's content guided by the Optimized Honeycomb Model and considered the AT needs and FDs of older Puerto Ricans found in our previous studies. In Phase II, we design the web application by adopting a Lean UX process and design heuristics for older adults. In Phase III, we conducted usability testing using focus groups and individual interviews with 14 older adults, interpreted through a directed content analysis. The Mi Guía de Asistencia Tecnológica (MGAT) was developed with ninety-four AT devices in eight areas of daily activities. The MGAT provides comprehensive information on AT, including photos and videos of older adults using AT. Participants reported that the MGAT was usable, accessible, credible, desirable, useful, and valuable in increasing their knowledge of AT. In this work, we propose a new text complexity formula aimed at assessing the complexity of Russian school textbooks. We used the annotated Russian Academic Corpus containing over 5 million tokens as the training and validation data and employed machine learning methods in the study. The values of 4 parameters in each of the 154 texts used for the research were measured with the help of the tools from the Spacy library. Comparative analysis of the new and existing complexity formulas suggests that the differences between them are indicative and the new formulas provide more accurate results. This research advances our understanding of the interdependency between frequency and text complexity and provides a framework for effective implementation of lexical frequency patterns in discourse complexity studies. The findings can be implemented by textbooks writers and test developers to select and modify texts for specific categories of readers. Background: Multiple sequence alignment (MSA) has proven extremely useful in computational biology, especially in inferring evolutionary relationships via phylogenetic analysis and providing insight into protein structure and function. An alternative to the standard MSA model is partial order alignment (POA), in which aligned sequences are represented as paths in a graph rather than rows in a matrix. While the POA model has proven useful in several applications (e.g. sequencing reads assembly and pangenome structure exploration), we lack efficient visualization tools that could highlight its advantages. Results: We propose Sequence Flow – a web application designed to address the above problem. Sequence Flow presents the POA as a Sankey diagram, a kind of graph visualisation typically used for graphs representing flowcharts. Sequence Flow enables interactive alignment exploration, including fragment selection, highlighting a selected group of sequences, modification of the position of graph nodes, structure simplification etc. After adjustment, the visualization can be saved as a high-quality graphic file. Thanks to the use of SanKEY.js – a JavaScript library for creating Sankey diagrams, designed specifically to visualize POAs, Sequence Flow provides satisfactory performance even with large alignments. Conclusions: We provide Sankey diagram-based POA visualization tools for both end users (Sequence Flow) and bioinformatic software developers (SanKEY.js). Background: Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNAseq) offers powerful insights, but the surge in sample sizes demands more computational power than local workstations can provide. Consequently, high-performance computing (HPC) systems have become imperative. Existing web apps designed to analyze scRNAseq data lack scalability and integration capabilities, while analysis packages demand coding expertise, hindering accessibility. Results: In response, we introduce scRNAbox, an innovative scRNAseq analysis pipeline meticulously crafted for HPC systems. This end-to-end solution, executed via the SLURM workload manager, efficiently processes raw data from standard and Hashtag samples. It incorporates quality control filtering, sample integration, clustering, cluster annotation tools, and facilitates cell type-specific differential gene expression analysis between two groups. We demonstrate the application of scRNAbox by analyzing two publicly available datasets. Conclusion: ScRNAbox is a comprehensive end-to-end pipeline designed to streamline the processing and analysis of scRNAseq data. By responding to the pressing demand for a user-friendly, HPC solution, scRNAbox bridges the gap between the growing computational demands of scRNAseq analysis and the coding expertise required to meet them. This paper addresses the challenge of objectively determining a website's personality by developing a methodology based on automated quantitative analysis, thus avoiding the biases inherent in human surveys. Utilizing a database of 3000 websites, data extraction tools gather relevant data, which are then analyzed using Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques, including machine learning (ML) and natural language processing. Four ML algorithms—K-means, Expectation Maximization, Hierarchical Agglomerative Clustering, and DBSCAN—are implemented to assess and classify website personality traits. Each algorithm's strengths and weaknesses are evaluated in terms of data organization, cluster flexibility, and handling of outliers. A software tool is developed to facilitate the research process, from database creation and data extraction to ML application and results analysis. Experimental validation, conducted with identical training and testing datasets, achieves a success rate of up to 94% (with an Error of ≤ 50 % ) in accurately identifying website personality, which is validated by subsequent surveys. The research highlights significant relationships between website attributes and personality traits, offering practical applications for website developers. For instance, developers can use these insights to design websites that align with business goals, enhance customer engagement, and foster brand loyalty. Additionally, the methodology can be applied to creating culturally resonant websites, thus supporting New Zealand's cultural initiatives and promoting cross-cultural understanding. This research lays the groundwork for future studies and has broad applicability across various domains, demonstrating the potential for automated, unbiased website personality classification. The article examines issues of web accessibility ecosystems for people with special needs. Methods, models, accessibility standards, and technologies related to the structure, design, and functionality of the web accessibility ecosystem are studied. The stages of developing an accessibility ecosystem are explored. The accessibility of the design, functionalities, structure, and content of a particular ecosystem are presented. Several themes for the design of the system with an emphasis on its accessibility for blind users are explored and analyzed. UX/UI design and the ontological model of accessibility, used in the implementation of the model of the ecosystem and its elements, are studied. A web accessibility ecosystem model has been developed, compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and based on semantic technologies. Other qualities of this model are easy access to information resources on the topic of accessibility, convenience for users with different needs, and the possibility of expansion and enrichment in the future. Patient medical records and their accurate recording, storage, protection, and access are essential elements to high-quality healthcare. While many parts of the world have moved to traditional digital systems and electronic health records (EHRs), these systems require complex evaluation and large infrastructure investments, lack interoperability, and introduce the constantly-increasing challenges of cyber-attacks and digital security. The aim of this study is to address these challenges through a secure and accessible EHR management system, applied to allergy and family records, based on blockchain technology, the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) protocol, and the health level 7 (HL7) fast healthcare interoperability resources standard. The proposal was carried out in four phases: (1) blockchain architecture design, (2) blockchain network design, (3) interoperability design, and (4) web application design. A performance evaluation of the system was conducted to determine the throughput and latency metrics. The results presented a maximum medical record reading and writing throughput of approximately eight transactions per second, with a write latency averaging 5,926 ms to 51,836 ms and a reading latency of 4,783 ms to 45,500 ms. With the addition of a survey of 21 patients and 10 healthcare professionals indicating that both groups strongly agree that the system meets the criteria of high-quality healthcare, all study results present a framework that could serve as a model for the adoption of standards-based, accessible, and secure EHR systems. Social commerce has become a recent phenomenon and is poised to grow rapidly in the next few years. To better address customer behavior on social commerce platforms, it is imperative to acquire a comprehensive understanding of social commerce from the perspective of service quality. The objective of this research is to examine the dimensions of social commerce service quality and to reveal the factors influencing purchase intentions among the expanding user population. This study identified seven critical dimensions of social commerce service quality (website design, fulfilment, customer service, communication, contact, credibility, and security) that influence purchase intention. This research adopts a questionnaire survey method to collect data from social commerce users. Using PLS-SEM, the findings from an empirical analysis, conducted with a sample of 411 social commerce users, demonstrate that all measured dimensions significantly impact the intention to purchase. The findings also demonstrate that e-commerce has considerable influence on customer purchase intention as a partial mediator in social commerce.
