3. Study on Corrosion Resistance of Plasma-Sprayed TiC Coatings on Stainless Steel Bipolar Plates

Abstract

To improve the corrosion resistance of proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) bipolar plates，TiC coatings were prepared by atmospheric plasma spraying (APS).The morphology and structure of the coatings were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM)and X-ray diffractometer (XRD).The corrosion resistance of TiC coatings prepared at three different currents in the PEMFC environment was studied by potentiodynamic polarization，potentiostatic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).Results showed that the corrosion current density of the TiC coating was one order of magnitude lower than that of the stainless steel substrate，indicating that the coating could effectively improve the corrosion resistance of 316L stainless steel.With the increase of spraying current，the coating at 500 A was shown to have the best corrosion resistance and conductivity.This was mainly due to the increase in current，which fully melted the particles，increased the density of the coating，and reduced defects such as pores.

Abstract

Mobile machines typically working in a closed site, have a high potential to utilize autonomous driving technology. However, vigorously thriving development and innovation are happening mostly in the area of passenger cars. In contrast, although there are also many research pieces about autonomous driving or working in mobile machines, a consensus about the SOTA solution is still not achieved. We believe that the most urgent problem that should be solved is the absence of a public and challenging visual dataset, which makes the results from different researches comparable. To address the problem, we publish the KIT MOMA dataset, including eight classes of commonly used mobile machines, which can be used as a benchmark to evaluate the SOTA algorithms to detect mobile construction machines. The view of the gathered images is outside of the mobile machines since we believe fixed cameras on the ground are more suitable if all the interesting machines are working in a closed site. Most of the images in KIT MOMA are in a real scene, whereas some of the images are from the official website of top construction machine companies. Also, we have evaluated the performance of YOLO v3 on our dataset, indicating that the SOTA computer vision algorithms already show an excellent performance for detecting the mobile machines in a specific working site. Together with the dataset, we also upload the trained weights, which can be directly used by engineers from the construction machine industry. 20. Differences of Intestinal Flora in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder with Different Levels of Serum Total 25-hydroxyvitamin D

Abstract

Objective To investigate the differences of intestinal flora in Vitamin D adequacy and deficiency groups of children with autism spectrum disorder(ASD) and the correlation between serum total 25-hydroxyvitamin D [T-25(OH)D] levels and intestinal flora. Methods ASD children who attended the outpatient clinic of the department of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology of Peking Union Medical College Hospital during October 2009 and February 2022 were retrospectively included in the study. According to the serum T-25(OH)D levels, they were divided into Vitamin D adequacy group[T-25(OH)D > 30 μg/L], Vitamin D insufficiency group[20 μg/L≤T-25(OH)D≤30 μg/L] and Vitamin D deficiency group[T-25(OH)D < 20 μg/L].Serum T-25(OH)D levels were measured using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. Human gut metagenome data from these children with ASD were analyzed using bioinformatics methods. Results 46 children with ASD who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were included in the study. The numbers of patients in Vitamin D adequacy group, Vitamin D insufficiency group and Vitamin D deficiency group were respectively 15, 16 and 15. Linear discriminant analysis revealed that the bacteria abundance of Bilophila wadsworthia, Adlercreutzia equolifaciens, Asaccharobacter celatus and Escherichia coli were significantly enriched, while the bacteria abundance of Bacteroides fragilis and Hungatella hathewayi were significantly lower in the Vitamin D deficiency group. The relative abundance of Bilophila wadsworthia and Adlercreutzia equolifaciens were negatively correlated with serum T-25(OH)D levels(r=-0.45, fdr=0.055, P=0.002;r=-0.44, fdr=0.055, P=0.003), and the relative abundance of Bacteroides fragilis was positively correlated with serum T-25(OH)D levels (r=0.42, fdr=0.073, P=0.004). Conclusions Vitamin D deficiency in ASD may exacerbate ASD flora disorders, and decreased serum T-25(OH)D levels may facilitate potentially harmful bacteria but inhibit probiotic colonization. This study provides partial evidence that children with ASD should be actively supplemented with vitamin D.

32. Nitrogen transfer and cross-feeding between Azotobacter chroococcumand Paracoccus aminovoranspromotes pyrene degradation

Abstract

Nitrogen is a limiting nutrient for degraders function in hydrocarbon-contaminated environments. Biological nitrogen fixation by diazotrophs is a natural solution for supplying bioavailable nitrogen. Here, we determined whether the diazotroph Azotobacter chroococcumHN can provide nitrogen to the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon-degrading bacterium Paracoccus aminovoransHPD-2 and further explored the synergistic interactions that facilitate pyrene degradation in nitrogen-deprived environments. We found that A. chroococcumHN and P. aminovoransHPD-2 grew and degraded pyrene more quickly in co-culture than in monoculture. Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy combined with 15N stable isotope probing (SERS?-?15N SIP) demonstrated that A. chroococcumHN provided nitrogen to P. aminovoransHPD-2. Metabolite analysis and feeding experiments confirmed that cross-feeding occurred between A. chroococcumHN and P. aminovoransHPD-2 during pyrene degradation. Transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses further revealed that co-culture significantly upregulated key pathways such as nitrogen fixation, aromatic compound degradation, protein export, and the TCA cycle in A. chroococcumHN and quorum sensing, aromatic compound degradation and ABC transporters in P. aminovoransHPD-2. Phenotypic and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) assays demonstrated that A. chroococcumHN produced large amounts of biofilm and was located at the bottom of the biofilm in co-culture, whereas P. aminovoransHPD-2 attached to the surface layer and formed a bridge-like structure with A. chroococcumHN. This study demonstrates that distinct syntrophic interactions occur between A. chroococcumHN and P. aminovoransHPD-2 and provides support for their combined use in organic pollutant degradation in nitrogen-deprived environments.

Abstract

Background : The objective of this research was to screen metabolites with specificity differences in the lung tissue of paraquat-poisoned rats by metabolomics technology and chi-square test method, to provide a theoretical basis for the study of the mechanisms of paraquat poisoning, and to use machine learning technology to construct a paraquat poisoning diagnosis model. This provided an intelligent decision-making method for the diagnosis of paraquat poisoning. Methods: 18 paraquat-poisoned rats (36 mg/kg) and 16 positive control rats were selected. Lung tissue from each rat from both groups was extracted and analyzed by GC-MS. The chi-square test for feature evaluation was used to screen the difference in specific metabolites in the lung tissue between the paraquat-poisoned rats and the control group, and the SVM classification machine learning algorithm was used to construct an intelligent diagnosis model. Results: In the end, a total of 14 significant metabolic differences were identified between the two groups (P < 0.05). The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of the constructed SVM paraquat poisoning diagnostic model reached 95%, 95% and 96.67%, respectively. Conclusion: Based on metabolomics technology, the chi-square test for feature evaluation was used to successfully screen the changes of specific metabolites produced in the lungs after paraquat- poisoning, and the diagnosis model based on SVM was constructed to provide an intelligent decision for the diagnosis of paraquat poisoning.

43. Integrated Sensing and Acoustofluidic Functions for Flexible Thin Film Acoustic Wave Devices Based on Metallic and Polymer Multilayers

Abstract

Surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices are generally fabricated on rigid substrates that support the propagation of waves efficiently. Although very challenging, the realisation of SAW devices on bendable and flexible substrates can lead to new generation SAW devices for wearable technologies. In this paper, we report flexible acoustic wave devices based on ZnO thin films coated on various substrates consisting of thin layers of metal (e.g., Ni/Cu/Ni) and/or polymer (e.g., polyethylene terephthalate, PET). We comparatively characterise the fabricated SAW devices and demonstrate their sensing applications for temperature and ultraviolet (UV) light. We also investigate their acoustofluidic capabilities on different substrates. Our results show that the SAW devices fabricated on a polymer layer (e.g. ZnO/PET, ZnO/Ni/Cu/Ni/PET) show enhanced temperature responsivity, and the devices with larger wavelengths are more sensitive to UV exposure. For actuation purposes, the devices fabricated on ZnO/Ni/Cu/Ni layer have the best performance for acoustofluidics, whereas insignificant acoustofluidic effects are observed with the devices fabricated on ZnO/PET layers. We propose that the addition of a metallic layer of Ni/Cu/Ni between ZnO and polymer layers facilitates the actuation capability for the acoustofluidic applications while keeping temperature and UV sensing capabilities, thus enhancing the integration of sensing and acoustofluidic functions.

Abstract

Introduction: Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological diseases in clinical practice. The combined application of metabolomics technology plays a great advantage in the screening of biomarkers. Methods: In this study, Wistar rats were used as experimental subjects to model intractable epilepsy and to detect the metabolic changes of small molecules in plasma. UPLC-MS/MS was used to determine the small molecules in rat plasma. UPLC HSS C18 (2.1mm×100mm, 1.7 μm) column was used for separation, column temperature of 40°C. The initial mobile phase was acetonitrile -0.3% formic acid with gradient elution, the flow rate was 0.3 mL/min, total running time 4.0 min. Quantitative analysis was performed with multi-response monitoring (MRM). Results: Compared to the control group, the L-Alanine and L-Arginine decreased in the Epilepsy group (p Conclusion: In the screening of epilepsy biomarkers using metabolomics, various amino acids that lead to increased energy production and neurotransmitter imbalance play an important role in epileptic seizures.
