4. Improved YOLOv5 network for real-time multi-scale traffic sign detection

Abstract

Traffic sign detection is a challenging task for the unmanned driving system, especially for the detection of multi-scale targets and the real-time problem of detection. In the traffic sign detection process, the scale of the targets changes greatly, which will have a certain impact on the detection accuracy. Feature pyramid is widely used to solve this problem but it might break the feature consistency across different scales of traffic signs. Moreover, in practical application, it is difficult for common methods to improve the detection accuracy of multi-scale traffic signs while ensuring real-time detection. In this paper, we propose an improved feature pyramid model, named AF-FPN, which utilizes the adaptive attention module (AAM) and feature enhancement module (FEM) to reduce the information loss in the process of feature map generation and enhance the representation ability of the feature pyramid. We replaced the original feature pyramid network in YOLOv5 with AF-FPN, which improves the detection performance for multi-scale targets of the YOLOv5 network under the premise of ensuring real-time detection. Furthermore, a new automatic learning data augmentation method is proposed to enrich the dataset and improve the robustness of the model to make it more suitable for practical scenarios. Extensive experimental results on the Tsinghua-Tencent 100K (TT100K) dataset demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method when compared with several state-of-the-art methods.

15. ICNCS: Internal Cascaded Neuromorphic Computing System for Fast Electric Vehicle State-of-Charge Estimation

Abstract

Accuracy and speed of Lithium-ion battery state of charge (SOC) estimation determine the reliability and stability of electric vehicle (EV), as well as promoting the development of smart home energy management system. Existing SOC estimation approaches embedded in commercial EVs still suffer from limitations of low precision, effectiveness, and relatively low robustness. To address these issues, we propose an internal cascaded neuromorphic computing system (ICNCS) via memristor circuits for EV SOC estimation. Specifically, we use three circuit modules to facilitate the design of the proposed ICNCS. Firstly, a bidirectional gated recurrent unit (Bi-GRU) circuit module is designed, enabling adequate feature extraction from the time-contextual battery information. Secondly, an attention circuit module is proposed to distinguish the useful and unimportant information related to SOC estimation. Thirdly, the Kalman filter module is constructed to eliminate the random noise caused by data transmission and processing. Finally, a series of experiments and analysis demonstrate that the proposed ICNCS has good performances in terms of accuracy (the lowest achievable RMSE and MAE are 0.853 and 0.711, respectively), time efficiency (approximately $16\sim 20$ times), and robustness (anti-noise capacity), indicating an advancement in consumer electronics applications.

Abstract

Two-dimensional van der Waals crystals (2D vdW) are recognized as one of the potential materials to solve the physical limits caused by size scaling. Here, vdW metal oxide MoO3 is applied with the gate dielectric in a 2D field-effect transistor (FET). Due to its high dielectric constant and the good response of MoS2 to visible light, we obtained a field effect transistor for photodetection. In general, the device exhibits a threshold voltage near 0 V, Ion/Ioff ratio of 105, electron mobility about 85 cm2 V−1 s−1 and a good response to visible light, the responsivity is near 5 A/W at low laser power, which shows that MoO3 is a potential material as gate dielectric. Abstract

Firstly, this paper discussed differences between traditional urbanization and new urbanization. Then, from current situations of financial support for new urbanization, it analyzed existing problems in financial support for new urbanization. The problems include difficulty in infrastructure financing, shortage of funds for small and medium sized enterprises, narrow scope of financial services, and uneven industries of financial support. Finally, it came up with pertinent recommendations, including implementing diversified infrastructure financing modes, solving financing difficulty of small and medium sized enterprises through many channels, strengthening service level and expanding service scope of financial institutions, and changing the situation of uneven industry of financial support, in the hope of providing helpful references.
