18. DOTS: Decoupling Operation and Topology in Differentiable Architecture Search

Abstract

Differentiable Architecture Search (DARTS) has attracted extensive attention due to its efficiency in searching for cell structures. DARTS mainly focuses on the operation search and derives the cell topology from the operation weights. However, the operation weights can not indicate the importance of cell topology and result in poor topology rating correctness. To tackle this, we propose to Decouple the Operation and Topology Search (DOTS), which decouples the topology representation from operation weights and makes an explicit topology search. DOTS is achieved by introducing a topology search space that contains combinations of candidate edges. The proposed search space directly reflects the search objective and can be easily extended to support a flexible number of edges in the searched cell. Existing gradient-based NAS methods can be incorporated into DOTS for further improvement by the topology search. Considering that some operations (e.g., Skip-Connection) can affect the topology, we propose a group operation search scheme to preserve topology-related operations for a better topology search. The experiments on CIFAR10/100 and ImageNet demonstrate that DOTS is an effective solution for differentiable NAS.

Abstract

In order to achieve high sensitivity in gas-sensors based on organic field-effect transistors (OFETs), the most crucial and direct approach to enhance their sensing performance and reduce response and recovery times was through appropriate modification or improvement of the organic semiconductor (OSC) layer, such as altering its surface morphology or structure. The micro/nanostructure of spin-coated copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) films was controlled by utilizing polyvinyl alcohol ordered nanofibers (PVA ONFs). The electrical and gas-sensitive properties of CuPc/PVA ONF films were investigated and analyzed. CuPc/PVA ONF film transistors exhibited improved output and transfer characteristics when the CuPc solution concentration was 75 mg mL−1, with a mobility (μ) of 6.90 × 10−4 cm2 V−1 s−1. Compared with the spin-coated CuPc film transistors, the mobility increased by 74.24%. The sensors demonstrated a relative response of 12 942% to 20 ppm NO2 gas. Additionally, they showed a response time of 1.49 min and a recovery time of 2.32 min. The response rate reached up to 90%, while the sensitivity was measured at 611%/ppm, and the limit of detection (LOD) stood at 0.2 ppm. 45. Effects of Prolonged Pomace Contact on Color and Mouthfeel Characteristics in Merlot Wine During the Ageing Process Under Microwave Irradiation.

Abstract

Wine color and mouthfeel are essential organoleptic characteristics considered by consumers. In this paper, the potential impacts on color and mouthfeel characteristics in wine, without pomace or prolonged pomace contact after different microwave treatment times, were investigated during storage. The results indicated that the trend changes in color and mouthfeel related parameters (including visible spectrum, brightness, red hue, yellow hue, color difference, saturation, hue angle, total polyphenol content, total monomer anthocyanins, total tannins, total flavan-3-ols, epigallocatechin, catechin, epicatechin, epicatechin gallate, and fluorescence spectrum) after microwave-treated and natural aged wines without pomace and prolong pomace contact were very similar. Moreover, changes in these organoleptic parameters of microwave-treated wine were faster than those of untreated wine, which required a long aging time in traditional processing. Also, microwave treatment had a long-term influence on color and mouthfeel characteristics. All these results showed that prolonged pomace contact technology could obviously improve the clarity and yellowness of wine, and microwave technology could reduce wine aging and rapidly change its color and mouthfeel characteristics. In summary, prolonged pomace contact technology is an interesting strategy to replace traditional fining agents. Microwave technology, as an efficient artificial aging technology, might reduce aging time and rapidly change organoleptic characteristics for producing high quality wine. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

49. Influence of blood pressure patterns on cognitive function in patients with Parkinson's disease

Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of blood pressure patterns on memory function in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). Methods A total of 68 PD patients were collected from the Department of Neurology of Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital (Guangdong Academy of Medical Sciences) between August 2018 and July 2021. All patients received 24 h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) and were divided into reverse dipping group (n=17), reduced dipping group (n=30), normal group (n=17), and extreme dipping group (n=4) according to the reduction rate of nocturnal systolic blood pressure; nocturnal hypertension group (n=37) and non⁃nocturnal hypertension group (n=31) according to nocturnal blood pressure. Global cognitive function was assessed by Mini⁃Mental State Examination (MMSE) and Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA). Memory function was evaluated by Logical Memory Test (LMT), Auditory Verbal Learning Test (AVLT) and Digit Span Test (DST). Results Among the 4 groups with different blood pressure pattern, statistical significances were found in duration (χ2=8.599, P=0.035), AVLT imediate 3 (F=3.100, P=0.033) and AVLT delayed (χ2=7.828, P=0.050). Pairwise comparison showed that the duration was longer in the reverse dipping group (Z=4.224, P=0.043) and the normal group (Z=4.821, P=0.028) than in the reduced dipping group; the AVLT imediate 3 of the reverse dipping group was lower than that of the normal group (t=⁃2.028, P=0.048) and the extreme dipping group (t=⁃2.673, P=0.010); the AVLT imediate 3 of the reduced dipping group was lower than that of the extreme dipping group (t=2.554, P=0.013). Compared with non⁃nocturnal hypertension group, the morbidity of hypertension was higher (χ2=6.399, P=0.011) and the duration was longer (Z=⁃2.008, P=0.045) in the nocturnal hypertension group. There was no significant difference in memory function between 2 groups (P＞0.05, for all). Conclusions PD patients with reverse dipping blood pressure pattern are more likely to influence cognitive function, especially in memory function. Continuous blood pressure monitoring should be performed in PD patients.
