Abstract

Constructing a 3D scene capable of accommodating open-ended language queries, is a pivotal pursuit, particularly within the domain of robotics. Such technology facilitates robots in executing object manipulations based on human language directives. To tackle this challenge, some research efforts have been dedicated to the development of language-embedded implicit fields. However, implicit fields (e.g. NeRF) encounter limitations due to the necessity of processing a large number of input views for reconstruction, coupled with their inherent inefficiencies in inference. Thus, we present the GaussianGrasper, which utilizes 3D Gaussian Splatting to explicitly represent the scene as a collection of Gaussian primitives. Our approach takes a limited set of RGB-D views and employs a tile-based splatting technique to create a feature field. In particular, we propose an Efficient Feature Distillation (EFD) module that employs contrastive learning to efficiently and accurately distill language embeddings derived from foundational models. With the reconstructed geometry of the Gaussian field, our method enables the pre-trained grasping model to generate collision-free grasp pose candidates. Furthermore, we propose a normal-guided grasp module to select the best grasp pose. Through comprehensive real-world experiments, we demonstrate that GaussianGrasper enables robots to accurately query and grasp objects with language instructions, providing a new solution for language-guided manipulation tasks. Abstract

In recent years, graph signal processing (GSP) technology has become popular in various fields, and graph Laplacian regularizers have also been introduced into convolutional sparse representation. This paper proposes a convolutional sparse representation model based on the dual graph Laplacian regularizer to ensure effective application of a dual graph signal smoothing prior on the rows and columns of input images.The graph Laplacian matrix contains the gradient information of the image and the similarity information between pixels, and can also describe the degree of change of the graph, so the image can be smoothed. Compared with the single graph smoothing prior, the dual graph has a simple structure, relaxes the conditions, and is more conducive to image restoration using the image signal prior. In this paper, this paper formulated the corresponding minimization problem using the proposed model, and subsequently used the alternating direction method of multiplication (ADMM) algorithm to solve it in the Fourier domain.Finally, using random Gaussian white noise for the denoising experiments. 13. Chi-square Loss for Softmax: an Echo of Neural Network Structure

Abstract

Softmax working with cross-entropy is widely used in classification, which evaluates the similarity between two discrete distribution columns (predictions and true labels). Inspired by chi-square test, we designed a new loss function called chi-square loss, which is also works for Softmax. Chi-square loss has a statistical background. We proved that it is unbiased in optimization, and clarified its using conditions (its formula determines that it must work with label smoothing). In addition, we studied the sample distribution of this loss function by visualization and found that the distribution is related to the neural network structure, which is distinct compared to cross-entropy. In the past, the influence of structure was often ignored when visualizing. Chi-square loss can notice changes in neural network structure because it is very strict, and we explained the reason for this strictness. We also studied the influence of label smoothing and discussed the relationship between label smoothing and training accuracy and stability. Since the chi-square loss is very strict, the performance will degrade when dealing samples of very many classes.

23. Characteristics of Spatial and Temporal Evolution of Coastal Wetland Landscape Patterns and Prediction Analysis—A Case Study of Panjin Wetland, China.

Abstract

The Panjin Wetland is a complex ecosystem comprising coastal and inland wetland. It has an important function in wetland conservation and ecological. For this research, we quantified the landscape type changes in Panjin Wetland from 1992–2022, and analyzed the interaction between the combined PLUS and InVEST models to predict the future evolution of spatial and temporal patterns of habitat quality (HQ) and landscape patterns in Panjin Wetland. The results showed the following: (1) The change in natural wetland area from 1992 to 2022 generally showed a decreasing trend, the landscape patterns showed a trend of fragmentation. In 2032, the ecological protection scenarios showed an increase of 79.51 km2 of natural wetland, while the other scenarios showed a decrease. (2) In 2022, the average habitat quality score is 0.441, and in 2032, the average habitat quality scores in the natural development scenarios, farmland protection scenarios, ecological protection scenarios, and economic development scenarios are 0.427, 0.448, 0.438, and 0.416, respectively. (3) The outcomes of this study offer insights into the sustainable management and rational development of coastal wetland, thereby contributing to the existing body of knowledge in the field of coastal wetland research, particularly in the areas of land planning and forecasting. Abstract

Background: Aberrant occlusion and aging are two main risks for temporomandibular joint (TMJ) degeneration. Objective: To assess the combined impact of occlusion and age on TMJ disc. Methods: To avoid the confounding impact of gender, presently, 126 female C57BL/6J mice, 63 youngsters, 6‐week old and 63 adults, 28‐week old, were used. An experimental bilateral anterior crossbite (BAC) relation was created by installing metal tubes onto the mandibular incisors. Mice were sacrificed at 3, 7 and 11 weeks (n = 9). Additionally, the installed tubes were removed at 7 weeks in removal groups and the TMJs were sampled after another 4 weeks (n = 9). Disc changes were detected by histomorphology, immunohistochemistry, and western blot assays. Results: Disc deformation was obvious in BAC groups. The typical change was hyperplasia at the posterior region of the disc where there was significant infiltration of inflammatory cells. Expressions of the inflammatory markers, including tumour necrosis factor‐α and interleukin‐1β, and the catabolic markers, including fibronectin (FN), FN N‐terminal fragments, and vascular endothelial growth factor‐A, were all increased. The changes were more obvious in adults than in youngsters. Removal of BAC attenuated inflammatory and catabolic changes in the youngsters, but the inflammatory markers recovered little in the adults. Conclusion: TMJ disc responds to BAC by degeneration and inflammation, and respond to BAC removal by rehabilitation. Adult discs show severer degeneration responses to BAC and a lower level of anti‐inflammatory capability to BAC removal than the youngster's discs. Animals cannot be equated with humans. 37. BEOL Large-Scale Integration and Precise Programming of HfOx/AlOy Superlattice- Like Multilevel Memristors

Abstract

The memristor is a promising candidate for multilevel memory and neuromorphic computing. This study successfully integrated HfOx/AlOy superlattice-like (SLL) memristors in the 0.18/ $0.5~\mu $ m CMOS back-end-of-line (BEOL) process and statistically analyzed their performance. We identified that BEOL annealing ( $400~^{\circ }$ C/30 min) can cause oxygen diffusion and short-circuiting, but reducing Ti electrode thickness mitigates this issue. Furthermore, low post-forming resistance is discussed and solved by one transistor one memristor (1T1M) structure. Finally, we fabricate a 1T1M crossbar array with a size of 1 Kb in the $0.18~\mu $ m CMOS process. We demonstrated the multilevel characteristics and endurance of 1T1M. Furthermore, the stable and precise multilevel conductance programming of memristors is achieved by a specific writing method and we simulated the effect of conductance of failure bits on classification accuracy in a four-layer MLP network on the MNIST dataset.

Abstract

Image denoising is a fundamental tool in the fields of image processing and computer vision. With the rapid development of multimedia and cloud computing, it has become popular for resource-constrained users to outsource the storage and denoising of massive images. However, it may cause privacy concerns and response delays. In this scenario, we propose an ef F icient priv A cy-prese R ving I mage de N oising sch E me (FARINE) for outsourcing digital images. By introducing a key conversion mechanism, FARINE allows removing noise from a given noisy image using a non-local mean way without leaking any information about the plaintext content. Due to its low computational latency/communication cost, edge computing is considered to improve the user experience. To achieve a dynamic user set efficiently, we design a fine-grained access control mechanism to support user authorization and revocation in multi-user scenarios. Extensive experiments over several benchmark data sets show that FARINE obtains comparable performance to plaintext image denoising. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
