The initiation processes of one of the initial convective cells near and on the east side of a dryline on 19 June 2002 during the IHOP_2002 field experiment in the central United States is analyzed in detail based on a high-resolution numerical simulation. Prominent horizontal convective rolls and associated near-surface moisture convergence bands [called roll convergence bands (RCBs) here] develop within the convective boundary layer (CBL) due to surface heating, in the hours leading to convective initiation (CI). The RCBs east of the dryline are advected toward the primary dryline convergence boundary (PDCB) by the southerly moist flow as the CBL deepens with time. Backward trajectories of air parcels forming the initial precipitating updraft of the convective cell are found to primarily originate at about 1-1.5 km above ground, within the upper portion of the shallower CBL earlier on. The representative air parcel is found to follow and stay on top of a surface RCB as the RCB moves toward the PDCB, but the RCB forcing alone is not enough to initiate convection. As this RCB gets close to the PDCB, it moves into a zone of mesoscale convergence and a deeper CBL that exhibits an upward moisture bulge associated with the PDCB. The combined upward forcing of the RCB and the mesoscale PDCB convergence quickly lifts the representative air parcel above its level of free convection to initiate convection. Objective: This study aims to determine the correlation of erythrocyte complement receptor 1 ( ECR1) A3650G (His1208Arg, rs2274567) polymorphism with the pathogenesis and development of neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (NRDS). Materials and Methods: This case-control study was conducted at the Huaihe Hospital of Henan University. Sixty-six infants who met the diagnostic criteria of NRDS were placed into the case group. There were 60 healthy infants without respiratory symptoms in the control group. Genetic analyses were conducted using peripheral blood-extracted genomic DNA. Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) was applied to detect SNP. Results: No apparent differences in gender, weight, and gestational age were observed between NRDS and healthy infants (all p>0.05). However, the NRDS group had more premature infants than the control group (59.1% vs. 38.3%, p=0.019). In the NRDS group, the premature infants had shorter gestational ages than the full-term infants, while the duration of mechanical ventilation and oxygen inhalation for premature infants was longer than those of full-term infants (all p<0.05). Genotype frequencies were in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium in both the NRDS and control groups (both p>0.05). The results showed that the A carrier (AG/GG) and the A allele of the ECR1 A3650G polymorphism were associated with risk for NRDS (both p<0.05). Furthermore, premature infants with NRDS had higher frequencies of the A carrier (AG/GG) of ECR1 A3650G polymorphism than full-term infants ( p=0.002). Conclusion: Our findings provide evidence that the A carrier (AG/GG) and the A allele of the ECR1 A3650G polymorphism may be correlated to the pathogenesis of NRDS and, hence, might be involved in the susceptibility to NRDS. Chemically synthetic siRNA and miRNA have become powerful tools to study gene function in the past decade. Fluorescent dyes covalently attached to the 5′ or 3′ ends of synthetic small RNAs are widely used for fluorescently imaging and detection of these RNAs. However, the reliability of fluorescent tags as small RNA markers in different conditions has not attracted enough attention. We used Cy3-labelled small RNAs to explore the reliability of fluorescent tags as small RNA markers in cell cultures involving serum. A strong Cy3-fluorescence signal was observed in the cytoplasm of the cells transfected with Cy3-miR24 in the culture medium containing fetal bovine serum (FBS), but qRT-PCR results showed that little miR24 were detected in these cells. Further study demonstrated that small RNAs were degraded in the presence of FBS, suggesting that it was Cy3-RNA fragments, rather than the original Cy3-miR24, diffused into cells. These phenomena disappeared when FBS was replaced by boiled-FBS, further supporting that the Cy3-fluorescence we observed in cells in the presence of FBS could not represent the presence of intact small RNAs. Purpose: To compare bromfenac sodium 0.1%, fluorometholone 0.1% and dexamethasone 0.1% for the control of postoperative inflammation and prevention of cystoid macular edema (CME) after phacoemulsification. Methods: Patients were randomized to receive bromfenac sodium 0.1% for 1 month (OBS1) or 2 months (OBS2), or fluorometholone 0.1% for 1 month (OFM) or dexamethasone 0.1% for 1 month (ODM). Best-corrected visual acuity, intraocular pressure, endothelial cell density, photon count value and retinal foveal thickness were measured. Results: Mean photon count values were lower in the OBS1 and OBS2 groups compared with the ODM group during the first week. Bromfenac sodium cleared the ocular inflammation more rapidly than fluorometholone and dexamethasone. The foveal thickness was thinner in the second month and the incidence of CME was lower in the OBS1 and OBS2 groups compared with the OFM and ODM groups. Conclusion: Bromfenac sodium was more effective and safer than fluorometholone and dexamethasone as an anti-inflammatory, decreasing macular thickness and preventing CME in age-related cataract patients after cataract surgery. Rhesus bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) were transfected with the BMP12 gene by electroporation, and the phenotype of the transfected cells was identified by morphological observation and molecular biological assay. After transfection, cells became slender, and their processes became thinner and were interwoven into a network. There were more organelles in the transfected cells than in the parental MSCs. The transfected cells exhibited mRNA expressions of BMP12, collagen type I and scleraxis, but not collagen type III mRNA expression. Immunocytochemical analysis also showed the presence of collagen type I, but not collagen type III in the transfected cells. The transfected cells were positive for CD44 and negative for HLA-DR. Therefore, MSCs can be introduced to differentiate into tenocytes by BMP12 gene transfection, and bone marrow MSCs can serve as an alternative seed cell for application in tendon tissue engineering. Scandium (Sc) is a dispersed metal in Earth's lithosphere, with an average abundance of 16 to 22 ppm. In the meantime, it is widely considered as a critical metal because of its paramount significance in scientific research and technical innovation. With surging demands that are not backed-up by current supplies globally, the market price of Sc oxide is astonishingly five times more than the most expensive rare earth oxide of terbium (Tb). Production of Sc is significantly held back due to scarcity of economically viable grades at explorable depths within the crust, compared with other critical metals such as REE, Nb and Ta. Nevertheless, typical high- to intermediate-grade Sc deposits, as compiled in this review, consistently show close relationships to specific magmatic (e.g. ultramafic-mafic and carbonatitic), supergene and hydrothermal processes during Sc enrichment, especially the former two. Known potential Sc deposits are tentatively classified based on their host rocks and metallogeny, including those hosted in the ultramafic-mafic rocks and related laterites, in carbonatite and related laterites, in bauxite residue and processed coals, hydrothermal Sc deposits and Sc deposits related to syenite intrusions, pegmatites or marine sediments. We also discuss the Sc enrichment mechanism and associated tectonics and partition coefficients of Sc among diverse minerals and melts, which reveal the preference of Sc for clinopyroxene, garnet and iron oxides by isomorphic replacement or ion absorption during diverse magmatic and supergene Sc enrichment processes. Lastly, Sc resources in the world-class Bayan Obo deposit are discussed in detail as an illustrative benchmark example, where hydrothermal aegirine may host majority of carbonatite-derived Sc. Although multifunctional, flexible, and wearable textiles with integrated smart electronics have attracted tremendous attention in recent years, it is still an issue to balance new functionalities with the inherent performances of the textile substrates. 2D early transition metal carbides/nitrides (MXenes) are considered as ideal nanosheets for fabricating multifunctional and flexible textiles on the basis of their superb intrinsic electrical conductivity, tunable surface chemistry, and layered structure. Herein, highly conductive and hydrophobic textiles with exceptional electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding efficiency and excellent Joule heating performance are fabricated by depositing in situ polymerized polypyrrole (PPy) modified MXene sheets onto poly(ethylene terephthalate) textiles followed by a silicone coating. The resultant multifunctional textile exhibits high electrical conductivity of ≈1000 S m−1 in conjunction with an exceptional EMI shielding efficiency of ≈90 dB at a thickness of 1.3 mm. The thin silicone coating renders the hydrophilic PPy/MXene‐decorated textile hydrophobic, leading to an excellent water‐resistant feature while retaining a satisfactory air permeability of the textile. Interestingly, the multifunctional textile also exhibits an excellent moderate voltage‐driven Joule heating performance. Thus, the deposition of PPy‐modified MXene followed by silicone coating creates a multifunctional textile that holds great promise for wearable intelligent garments, EMI shielding, and personal heating applications. An efficient and scalable dip‐coating approach for the fabrication of flexible multifunctional transition metal carbides/nitrides (MXenes)‐derived textiles by decorating polypyrrole‐modified MXene sheets onto polyethylene terephthalate textiles followed by silicone coating is reported. Gemcitabine (GEM), as an anti-metabolic nucleoside analog, has been shown to have anticancer effects in various tumors, but its chemotherapy resistance is still an important factor leading to poor prognosis of cancer patient. A large number of studies in recent years have shown that autophagy plays an important role in the chemotherapy sensitivity of many tumors, including pancreatic, non-small cell lung, and bladder cancer. However, whether GEM causes autophagy in gallbladder cancer (GBC) and whether it is related to chemotherapy resistance is unknown. In the present study, we demonstrated that GEM induced apoptosis and protective autophagy in GBC cells, which may be related to the AKT/mTOR signaling pathway, and GEM in combination with autophagy inhibitor chloroquine can strengthen the cytotoxic effect of GEM on GBC in vitro and in vivo. These findings showed that both autophagy and AKT/mTOR signals were engaged in GBC cell death evoked by GEM, GBC patients might benefit from this new treatment strategy, and molecular targeted treatment in combination with autophagy inhibitors shows promise as a treatment improvement. [Display omitted] The itinerant ferromagnetism can be induced by a van Hove singularity (VHS) with a divergent density of states at Fermi level. Utilizing the giant magnified dielectric constant ε r of SrTiO 3 (111) substrate with cooling, here we successfully manipulated the VHS in the epitaxial monolayer (ML) 1T-VSe 2 film approaching to Fermi level via the large interfacial charge transfer, and thus induced a two-dimensional (2D) itinerant ferromagnetic state below 3.3 K. Combining the direct characterization of the VHS structure via angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), together with the theoretical analysis, we ascribe the manipulation of VHS to the physical origin of the itinerant ferromagnetic state in ML 1T-VSe 2. Therefore, we further demonstrated that the ferromagnetic state in the 2D system can be controlled through manipulating the VHS by engineering the film thickness or replacing the substrate. Our findings clearly evidence that the VHS can serve as an effective manipulating degree of freedom for the itinerant ferromagnetic state, expanding the application potentials of 2D magnets for the next-generation information technology. Excitons in solid state are bosons generated by electron-hole pairs as the Coulomb screening is sufficiently reduced. The exciton condensation can result in exotic physics such as super-fluidity and insulating state. In charge density wave (CDW) state, 1T-TiSe2 is one of the candidates that may host the exciton condensation. However, to envision its excitonic effect is still challenging, particularly at the two-dimensional limit, which is applicable to future devices. Here, we realize the epitaxial 1T-TiSe2 bilayer, the two-dimensional limit for its 2 × 2 × 2 CDW order, to explore the exciton-associated effect. By means of high-resolution scanning tunneling spectroscopy and quasiparticle interference, we discover an unexpected state residing below the conduction band and right within the CDW gap region. As corroborated by our theoretical analysis, this mysterious phenomenon is in good agreement with the electron-exciton coupling. Fluorocarbonates and monazite are common economic REE minerals in carbonatite-related REE deposits, such as the largest known REE deposit at Bayan Obo, China. The geochemical evolution of REE minerals is a sensitive and effective indicator of delicate REE mineralization processes. In this study, the fluorocarbonates and monazites were classified into three generations, corresponding to three REE mineralizing stages. The first generation (Gen-1) of bastnäsite and monazite are generally characterized by elevated La/Ce, La/Nd and La/Lu ratios, with right-declining chondrite normalized REE distribution patterns. They have low Th and radiogenic Sr content, with forming age of about 1.3 Ga and εNd(t) around 0, indicating a primary origin and orthomagmatic crystallization from carbonatite melts. The second generation (Gen-2) of REE minerals, formed at 1.25–1.2 Ga, normally constitute banded aggregates with associated hydrothermal gangue minerals (fluorite, aegirine, sodium amphibole etc.). The Gen-2 REE minerals are featured by moderate-low La/Ce, La/Nd, La/Lu ratios but slightly elevated 87Sr/86Sr 0 ratios, indicating a Mesoproterozoic hydrothermal origin related to carbonatitic fluids. Gen-2 bastnäsite and monazite precipitated earlier in low-fluid/rock-ratio environment with right-declining LREE distribution patterns, while the subsequent Gen-2 parisite and huanghoite display convex LREE patterns and higher OH/F ratios, indicative of relative La-depletion and increased ambient fluid/rock ratios during progressive hydrothermal REE mineralization. The third generation (Gen-3) of REE minerals are generally megacrysts in the vein-type ores formed in the early Paleozoic REE mineralization stage (470–420 Ma). The Gen-3 REE minerals are typified by significantly variable REE, Sr and Nd isotopic components, indicating extensive hydrothermal metasomatism and intense contamination of crustal material. Induced by activities of early Paleozoic subduction-related fluids, Gen-3 REE minerals were formed through local REE re-enrichment within the ore-hosting dolomite, rather than by introduction of REE from external sources. In this case study, a comprehensive model of the delicate REE mineralization processes of the giant Bayan Obo REE-Nb-Fe deposit has been established. This study highlights the great potential of fluorocarbonates and monazites widely distributed in carbonatite-related REE deposits as universal geochemical indicators of late-stage evolution of carbonatite and delicate magmatic-hydrothermal REE mineralization processes. Efficient construction of medium-sized lactones has attracted considerable interest over several decades, but remains a formidable challenge in synthetic chemistry. Here, we describe an unprecedented palladium-catalysed regioselective [5 + n] cyclisation (n = 5, 6, and 7) between vinylethylene carbonates and various anhydrides. Catalytic transformation occurs under mild, room-temperature conditions and offers an exceptional substrate scope. Introduction: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is one of the deadliest malignancies. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying PDAC are still not completely understood. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a unique class of RNA formed by special loop splicing. More and more researchers have paid attention to circRNAs.Material and Methods: In this study, we constructed a circRNA-mediated competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network in PDAC. Gene ontology (GO) analysis was performed to explore circRNAs' potential roles in PDAC progression. We also constructed an up-stream transcriptional network of circRNAs' parental genes and found that many transcription factors (TFs), such as tumor protein p53 (TP53) and MYC, could regulate their expression.Results: This study, which aimed to identify differentially expressed circRNAs in PDAC, suggested that circRNAs may also act as biomarkers for PDAC. We analyzed two public datasets (GSE69362 and GSE79634) to identify differentially expressed circRNAs in PDAC. Finally, we found that DExH-Box Helicase 9 (DHX9) may be a potential regulator of circRNA formation in PDAC. Genomic loci of four down-regulated circRNAs - hsa_circ_000691, hsa_circ_0049392, hsa_circ_0005203, and hsa_circ_0001626 - contained DHX9 binding sites, suggesting that they may be directly regulated by DHX9.Conclusions: Our study identified differentially expressed circRNAs in PDAC, suggesting that circRNAs may also act as biomarkers for PDAC. [Display omitted] RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) dysfunction has been implicated in a number of diseases, and RBPs have traditionally been considered to be undruggable targets. Here, targeted degradation of RBPs is achieved based on the aptamer-based RNA-PROTAC, which consists of a genetically encoded RNA scaffold and a synthetic heterobifunctional molecule. The target RBPs can bind to their RNA consensus binding element (RCBE) on the RNA scaffold, while the small molecule can recruit E3 ubiquitin ligase to the RNA scaffold in a non-covalent manner, thereby inducing proximity-dependent ubiquitination and subsequent proteasome-mediated degradation of the target protein. Different RBPs targets, including LIN28A and RBFOX1, have been successfully degraded by simply replacing the RCBE module on the RNA scaffold. In addition, the simultaneous degradation of multiple target proteins has been realized by inserting more functional RNA oligonucleotides into the RNA scaffold. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Fluorite of various occurrences could portray the hydrothermal metasomatism occurred in the giant Bayan Obo REE-Nb-Fe ore deposit. Two Mesoproterozoic and Paleozoic hydrothermal events with distinguished fluid origin and geochemical properties have been studied. In Mesoproterozoic, discrete fluorite from the dolomite-dominating REE-Nb ores and banded fluorite aggregates from the banded REE-Nb-Fe ores are extremely enriched in LREE and depleted in HFSE compared with the primitive mantle. In Paleozoic, fluorite from veined-breccia REE-Nb ores varies significantly in trace element components, ranging from LREE-enriched HFSE-depleted fluorite to fluorite with “flat” REE pattern and extremely depletion of Zr. The veined fluorites have variable and higher radiogenic Sr isotopic components (initial 87 Sr/ 86 Sr ratios: 0.703464–0.708208) than the discrete and banded fluorite (0.703183–0.705047), indicating crustal contamination in the Paleozoic hydrothermal fluids from Precambrian basement rocks and Bayan Obo Group. Fluorites of different occurrences and associated bastnäsite and monazite have similar Nd isotopic components and Nd evolution history, which is mostly consistent with whole rock of the ore-hosting dolomite. The Sm-Nd system of some fluorite and bastnäsite were reset during the Paleozoic alteration triggered by the closure of Paleo-Asian Ocean. In such geological setting, according to the δ 34 S of the dominating sulfur-bearing mineral, Paleozoic veined sulfides (∼0 ± 3‰), the prime sulfur source was oceanic crust/MORB. Relatively high δ 34 S of barite (∼13–14‰) was caused by fractionation of sulfur isotopes at an equilibrium temperature of 400–430 °C, rather than contribution from ancient seawater. The trace element, Sr-Nd isotope of fluorite and sulfur isotope characters of sulfides indicate carbonatitic origin of the Mesoproterozoic hydrothermal fluids, while the Paleozoic fluids, derived from subducted Paleo-Asian oceanic crust, carried sulfur components from MORB, scavenged high radiogenic Sr components from Precambrian basement rocks or Bayan Obo group, may leached a deep-seated carbonatite stock and finally altered the Mesoproterozoic mineralized ore-hosting dolomite. Both the Mesoproterozoic and Paleozoic hydrothermal fluids had initial temperature of ∼400–500 °C, and gangue minerals (fluorite, sulfide and sulfate) precipitated at the temperature of ∼320–440 °C. Preliminary thermodynamic calculations of the REE-F-C-Ca system constrained that the pressure of both fluids would not exceed 2 kbar. The drop of temperature and increase of pH are two critical factors to REE mineralization. Paragenesis of Fe-bearing minerals indicates an increase of fO 2 in the Mesoproterozoic hydrothermal fluids and a drop of fS 2 in the Paleozoic fluids in the Fe-O-S system. Furthermore, in the Ca-F-C-O system, the Mesoproterozoic hydrothermal fluids evolved with increasing aCa 2+ and decreasing aF − , while the Paleozoic fluids present characteristic of mixing origin again with significantly variable aCa 2+ and aF − . Fenitization, a unique type of alkali metasomatism related to carbonatite or alkaline igneous rocks, is widely distributed around the Mesoproterozoic carbonatite dykes in the Bayan Obo giant REE-Nb-Fe deposit. Meanwhile, represented by alkali silicates (sodic amphibole or aegirine) enriched REE-(Fe) ores, there is extensive alkali alteration in ores at Bayan Obo, whose similarity to fenitization has been proposed. Fenitization associated with carbonatite is an appropriate indicator of REE mineralizing process. Alkali silicates (sodic amphibole, aegirine and phlogopite) from the East and Main open pits, and fenite around the Wu dyke at Bayan Obo were collected for EMPA and laser ablation ICPMS analyses. Aegirine and phlogopite from the open pits and fenite around the Wu dyke contain similar major components. Sodic amphiboles from those two localities contain comparable trace element composition but with different Cao, MgO and F contents. Alkali silicates from fenites around the Wu dyke show systematic enrichment of Zr, Hf and Ti over alkali silicates from the open pits. Considering different wallrocks and other factors influencing the composition, combined with previous results of geochronology, mineralogy and fluid inclusion, the alkali alteration in the open pits is essentially fenitization in ore-hosting dolomite. A two-stage fenitization process is supported by the zonal texture of sodic amphiboles from Wu carbonatite dyke. The early stage fenitization was Mg, Na, K, F rich and Fe, La, Ce depleted, distributed in alkali silicates from the banded REE-Fe ores and in the core of sodic amphiboles from the Wu dyke. The late stage was Fe, LREE rich and Mg, Na, K, F depleted, distributed in the massive REE-(Fe) ores and the rim of sodic amphiboles from the Wu dyke. The initial alkali fluids derived from carbonatite commonly exhibits LREE-rich patterns. Therefore, the LREE-depletion and low La/Nd ratio of the early stage silicates indicates intense LREE-bearing mineral precipitation and the REE mineralization gradually weakened in the late stage when alkali fluids kept the initial REE patterns unchanged. Herein we developed a useful method for the preparation of the desired sulfilimines with readily available sulfonamides as nitrogen sources and iodobenzene as the catalyst. BRD4-targeted proteolysis targeting chimera (PROTAC) have exhibited promising in vitro and in vivo anticancer activity in a number of cancer models. However, the clinical development of current reported BRD4-PROTACs have stagnated, largely due to the safety risks caused by their poor degradation selectivity. In this study, we designed and synthesized a series of PROTACs based on our recently reported dual BET/PLK1 inhibitor WNY0824 , which led to the discovery of an isoform-selective and potent BRD4-PROTAC 12a (WWL0245). WWL0245 exhibited excellent selective cytotoxicity in the BETi sensitive cancer cell lines, including AR-positive prostate cancer cell lines. It could also efficiently induce ubiquitin-proteasomal degradation of BRD4 in AR-positive prostate cancer cell lines, with sub-nanomolar half-maximal degrading concentration (DC 50) and maximum degradation (D max) > 99%. Moreover, WWL0245 induced cell cycle arrest at the G0/G1 phase and apoptosis in AR-positive prostate cancer by downregulation of the protein levels of AR, PSA and c-Myc as well as transcriptionally suppressed AR-regulated genes. WWL0245 was thus expected to be developed as a promising drug candidate for AR-positive prostate cancer and a valuable tool compound to study the biological function of BRD4. The giant Bayan Obo REE deposit bears a large amount of iron resources as well. However, the genesis of iron mineralization is still highly controversial with limited research. In this study, new data of trace elements of magnetite from Bayan Obo ores, Eastern contact zone skarn and Heinaobao BIF are obtained by Laser ablation (LA) ICP-MS analyses, revealing the genesis of Bayan Obo iron resources through comparing study. The Bayan Obo deposit contains disseminated, banded and massive ores, and in which magnetite is associated with REE minerals, fluorite, aegirine, riebeckite, and biotite. Euhedral magnetite in the skarn of Eastern contact zone is usually associated with pyrite, biotite, fluorite, and bastnaesite. There are two types of magnetite in the Heinaobao BIF: (1) euhedral to subhedral magnetite associated with quartz and a small amount of amphibole; (2) anhedral magnetite associated with quartz, garnet, plagioclase, amphibole and biotite. Magnetite in the Bayan Obo is enriched in Ni, but depleted in Mg, Al, Ti, Ge, Mn, Ga and Zn, showing low and variable concentrations, which is similar to the hydrothermal magnetite. The contents of some trace elements (e.g. Ti, Mn, Sc, Zn, Nb and REE) of magnetite from the skarn ores are generally higher, indicating a relatively high formation temperature. Magnetite in the Heinaobao BIF is generally characterized by low and uniform trace element contents, except for the abnormal values of Ti, Al, Cr and Mn, suggesting the involvement of terrigenous clastic materials. Compared with Bayan Obo magnetite, the skarn magnetite has the highest Sn/Ga, Co/Ni, Nb/Ta, La/Yb, Ti/V and Ti/Al ratios, while magnetite in the BIF has the highest Al/Co and lowest Nb/Ta ratios. The significant difference in mineralogical and trace element characteristics among the three types of magnetite indicates that the iron resources in Bayan Obo deposit are unlikely to be a skarn Fe deposit nor a BIF deposit. However, the Bayan Obo magnetite shows similar geochemical characteristics to hydrothermal magnetite related to carbonatite, both of which are depleted in high field strength elements, such as Zr, Hf and Ta, and show strong positive anomalies of Mn and Zn and negative anomalies of Co and Ga. In addition, in the diagrams of Ti vs. Nb + Ta and Ti vs. Zr + Hf, the Bayan Obo magnetite falls into the field of hydrothermal magnetite associated with carbonatite. In conclusion, it is recommended that the Bayan Obo iron deposit is a typical hydrothermal deposit related to carbonatite. In this contribution, the skarn magnetite formed at high temperature and the BIF magnetite was contaminated by terrigenous materials deviating from the expected region in discriminant diagrams. It is therefore proposed that the validity of these diagrams depends on a full understanding of mineralogical characteristics of samples and magnetite precipitation environment, and that multiple discrimination diagrams should be used in combination. The Bayan Obo REE-Nb-Fe deposit with giant rare earth reserves, still has no unified understanding of the REE and Nb-bearing mineral evolution and the division of mineralization stages, due to the complicated metallogenic process and the huge controversy on the important issues such as the origin of ore-hosting dolomite. In this work, the whole process of carbonatite magma solidification and mineralization is divided into six stages: coarse dolomitic facies, fine dolomitic facies, disseminated mineralization, banded mineralization, massive mineralization and vein mineralization. The mineralogical composition and paragenesis of various types of rocks and ores have been systematically studied using the automatic mineral analysis technology-Advanced Mineral Identification and Characterization System (AMICS), supplemented by optical microscopy and cathodoluminescence. In order to establish the internal relationship between different stages, trace elements of six kinds of rocks and ores were analyzed. The mineralogical studies show that the rare earth minerals appear in the order of transition from the phosphate minerals in the brine-melt stage (fine dolomitic facies), through the fluorcarbonate minerals in the hydrothermal stage (disseminated, banded and massive mineralization), to the Ba-fluorcarbonate minerals in the Paleozoic vein mineralization, and all of these are generally associated with apatite, baryte, fluorite, aegirine and quartz. The distribution of niobium minerals in all kinds of ores is in the form of disseminated grains, and there is no obvious paragenetic relationship with other minerals, which indicate that niobium mineralization may only be related to the content of niobium in hydrothermal solution. The geochemical data show that all types of rocks and ores have positive anomalies of Ba and Nb, negative anomalies of U, Ta, Sr, Zr and Y. From coarse dolomitic facies to massive mineralization, the content of REE, Nb and Th increases, the content of Sr decreases, and the ratio of (La/Yb) N and (La/Nd) N increases, all of which change continuously. Vein mineralization has similar (La/Nd) N and (La + Ce + Pr) N /REE ratios compared with coarse dolomitic facies and has a wide range of Sr, Th, Nb and REE compositions, and elemental ratio and content of vein mineralization are within the distribution range of ore-hosting dolomite and different types of mineralization. Based on the above, it is considered that the main mineralization body at Bayan Obo was formed in the process of auto-metasomatism of Mesoproterozoic igneous carbonatite, while vein mineralization was the product of homogenization and re-precipitation of early ore-forming material by the Paleozoic fluids, without the addition of exogenous metallogenic materials. [Display omitted] • Hydrothermal zircon is identified in the Bayan Obo REE deposit for the first time. • Dating of hydrothermal zircon yielded an age of ~1.3Ga for the Bayan Obo deposit. • Substantial LREE depletion and Th/U fractionation are two discriminative features for hydrothermal zircon. The Bayan Obo deposit in China hosts the largest REE resource in the world. However, the genesis of this deposit is still highly debated, largely due to a lack of consensus on the mineralization age. The Banyan Obo deposit has experienced intensive post-ore metamorphic and metasomatic overprints, so it is crucial to choose robust chronometers to determine the primary mineralization age. In this study, zircon is identified in the REE ore of the Bayan Obo deposit. The zircon grains are in contact with or contain inclusions of hydrothermal minerals (e.g., magnetite, biotite, monazite, allanite, apatite and ilmenorutile). They have variable Th contents (14 to 1139 ppm) and are poor in U (<0.8 ppm), consistent with the Th-rich and U-poor feature of the Bayan Obo REE ore. Moreover, they have substantially low contents of light REE (La to Nd; LREE), which may be due to zircon coprecipitation with LREE-rich monazite and allanite. The combined textural and compositional features imply a hydrothermal origin of the zircon grains. The hydrothermal zircon grains have a weighted mean 208Pb-232Th age of 1297 ± 13 Ma, which places a direct constraint on the timing of REE mineralization at Bayan Obo. Notably, substantial LREE depletion and Th/U fractionation have not been documented before for hydrothermal zircon from other environments, and thus they could be taken as discriminative features for hydrothermal zircon from carbonatite-related REE deposits. Thorium-lead dating was also conducted on monazite from the zircon-bearing sample, yielding 208Pb-232Th ages (993 to 319 Ma) variably younger than that of zircon. The younger monazite Th-Pb ages could have resulted from disturbance of the Th-Pb isotopic system during post-ore modification process. Similarly, monazite has younger Th-U-Pb dates than zircon in many other geologically-complicated carbonatites or REE deposits. Such a phenomenon implies that the zircon Th-U-Pb chronometer is robust even if the host-rocks have experienced intensive modification, whereas monazite Th-U-Pb chronometer is more susceptible to modification. Therefore, younger Th-U-Pb dates of monazite should be interpreted with caution as they may record the timing of post-ore modification event or represent partial resetting, and hence geologically meaningless results. Abstract: Cells of the human embryonic kidney cell line (HEK 293) were grown as suspended aggregates in stirred vessels and infected with a recombinant adenovirus vector (Ad-TH-GFP). Regular spherical aggregates with the mean diameter less than 300 μm and a viable cell density greater than 5×106 cells·ml−1 were readily achieved after 9 day culture in spinner flasks. The HEK 293 cells growing as suspended aggregates could be efficiently infected by Ad-TH-GFP at an MOI of 10 with a prolonging infection time up to 144 hour post-infection (hpi). The time profile of Ad-TH-GFP production was strongly corresponding to the infection process with a virus concentration peak occurred consistently at 144 h after infection. And the infected aggregates essentially maintained spherical in shape, the portion of dissociated cells from the infected aggregates was less than 5% at 144 hpi. Perfusion culture of HEK 293 cells grown as suspended aggregates in a 7.5 L stirred tank bioreactor and infected with Ad-TH-GFP at a density higher than 1×107 cells·ml−1 resulted in a similar Ad-TH-GFP production kinetics, but a much higher virus yield approximately at 5.7×1011 GTU ml−1 at 144 hpi to that of the infected spinner flask cultures. These results demonstrate the feasibility for using suspended cell aggregates as an immobilization system to facilitate perfusion in stirred tank bioreactors, and improve volumetric productivities by eliminating the cell density effect. Abstract: An apparatus containing a visual porous medium plate model and digital video recorder was employed to investigate the transportation of foam stabilized by sodium polyoxyethylene alkylether sulfate (AES), sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS) and TritonX-100 in porous medium. The results showed that transfiguration and fracture were the main transport manners for foam in the porous medium at high gas and liquid transfusion rate. The increase in probability of transfiguration in foam transport process corresponded to the higher flow impedance. A simple U-shape device was designed to investigate the rigidity of surfactant layer at the gas/liquid interface, and the equilibrium surface tension was assigned to be the key parameter which manifests the rigidity of surfactant interface layer. The dynamic surface tension of different surfactant system has also been measured, and the parameters gotten by Rosen model might be the measurement of dynamic elasticity of surfactant interface layer. There is consanguineous relation between the equilibrium surface activity or dynamic activity of the surfactants and the transport of the foam in the porous medium. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

The origin of dolomite that hosts the Bayan Obo REE-Nb-Fe deposit (57.4 Mt.@6% REE 2 O 3 , 2.16 Mt.@0.13% Nb 2 O 5 , and >1500 Mt.@35% iron oxides) has been controversial for decades, but it is integral to understanding of the genesis of this giant deposit. In this study, based on the textures and in situ major and trace element composition of its carbonates, the dolomite was proved to be initially generated from magnesio-ferro‑carbonatite melts. It subsequently experienced magmatic-hydrothermal alteration and recrystallization in a low strain environment, caused by calcio‑carbonatitic fluids, with formation of finer-grained dolomite, interstitial calcite and increasing amounts of associated fluorocarbonates. Available stable isotope analyses indicate that the recrystallized ore-hosting dolomite has higher δ13C and δ18O ratios compared to its igneous coarse-grained precursor. Rayleigh fractionation during the recrystallization process, rather than crustal contamination, played a major role in the highly-variable stable isotope composition of carbonates in the dolomite. Low-T alteration increased variability with apparently random increases in δ18O within carbonates. The REE, Ba and Sr were added simultaneously with the elevated (La/Yb) cn from magnesio-ferro‑carbonatite melts to calcio‑carbonatitic fluids, and to carbonatite-derived aqueous fluids, through which extensive fluorine metasomatism and alkali alteration overlapped the recrystallization of the ore-hosting dolomite. Therefore, the multi-stage REE mineralization at Bayan Obo is closely related to metasomatism by calcio‑carbonatitic fluids of previously-emplaced intrusive magnesio-ferro‑carbonatite bodies during late evolution of the Bayan Obo carbonatite complex. Then, the ore-hosting dolomitic carbonatite was subjected to compressive tectonics during a Paleozoic subduction event, and suffered intense, largely brittle, deformation, which partially obscured the earlier recrystallization process. The complex, multi-stage evolution of the ore-hosting dolomite is responsible for the uniqueness, high grade and giant size of the Bayan Obo deposit, the world's largest single REE resource with million tonnes of REE oxides. Although flexible and multifunctional textiles are promising for wearable electronics and portable device applications, the main issue is to endow textiles with multifunctionalities while maintaining their innate flexible and porous features. Herein, a vacuum‐assisted layer‐by‐layer assembly technique is demonstrated to conformally deposit electrically conductive substances on textiles for developing multifunctional and flexible textiles with superb electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding performances, superhydrophobicity, and highly sensitive humidity response. The formed leaf‐like nanostructure is composed of silver nanowires (AgNWs) as the highly conductive skeleton (vein) and transition metal carbide/carbonitride (MXene) nanosheets as the lamina. The presence of MXene protects AgNWs from oxidation and enhances the combination of AgNWs with the fabric substrate, and the transformation of its functional groups leads to self‐derived hydrophobicity. The flexible and multifunctional textile exhibits a low sheet resistance of 0.8 Ω sq−1, outstanding EMI shielding efficiency of 54 dB in the X‐band at a small thickness of 120 µm, and highly sensitive humidity responses, while retaining its satisfactory porosity and permeability. The self‐derived hydrophobicity with a large contact angle of >140° is achieved by aging the hydrophilic MXene coated silk. The wearable multifunctional textiles are highly promising for applications in intelligent garments, humidity sensors, actuators, and EMI shielding. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
