Three-dimensional (3D) integrated cellular woven structures are formed by binding layers of typical 3D woven structures together in the thickness direction with binding threads. According to the geometric pattern of the constituent yarn system in 3D integrated cellular woven structures, a general purpose geometric cell model was developed. The length and the orientation angle of the constituent yarns in each section within a unit cell were calculated with the purpose of predicting the volume fraction of the fiber and the hollow part. In order to verify the geometric model, 3D integrated cellular woven structure composites with six various binding parameters were selected and the volume fractions of each part in the composites were measured. Experimental results were in good agreement with the calculated results of the model. Further, the geometric model was employed to discuss the effects of the binding parameters on the volume fraction of the hollow part and the fiber content. The investigation showed that the volume fractions of the hollow part and the fiber content altered with the orientation angle of the warp.

A complete representation of the skin microclimate-fabric-environment includes the skin layer S, fabric F and outside environment E. Between the skin and fabric is the “clothing microclimate” M. Condensation occurring on the fabric's inner surface depends upon perspiration transfer from the human body through the clothing, which is determined by the properties of the fabrics. A new measuring apparatus, which conducted under computer control, described in this paper can be used to investigate whether condensation occurs on the fabrics. The measuring apparatus can be used to examine, record and display temperature and relative humidity simultaneously and permits rapid testing of small quantities of fabrics in a short amount of time. It is logical to use the apparatus described in this paper rather than the ASTM 96E-00 to investigate water vapor permeability of fabrics, especially condensation on the fabrics' inner surface.

This paper presents the methods of measuring electrode-skin mechanical interaction which is closely related to the motion artifacts of bio-potential body surface electrode. The interaction was defined as inplane electrode-skin relative movement parallel with skin and their contact pressure perpendicular to skin. The wearable electrode was fabricated using sliver coated fabrics. Thin film pressure sensor and optical displacement sensor were integrated into the electrode for electrode-skin relative movement and their contact pressure measurement. The sensor-embedded electrode were placed at specific position: RA, LR and RL for electrocardiogram (ECG) recording with a default pressure of 2KPa. Electrode-skin relative movement and their contact pressure was measured during designate body movement and exercise. The results demonstrated that electrode-skin relative movement speed was in the range of 0–50mm/sec. Spectrum analysis revealed that the movement frequency laid within 0–2.5Hz which overlapped with normal ECG signal but attenuated quickly. Electrode-skin contact pressure was within the range of 0.4–1.7KPa and showed influential effect on ECG signal which can be adopted in adaptive filtering for reducing motion artifacts.

Collision response is one of the major challenges for cloth simulation. Implicit integration method allows large time step, however when time step is too large the collision may not be detected, and the intersections occur. Collision can not be avoided only by preventing the collision from happening. The intersection that has already taken place must be resolved for a collision-free state. This paper implements efficient techniques resolving intersection for cloth simulation. Two stages are selected for handling the collision. We try to prevent collision from happening in the first stage, and the second stage deal with actual intersections. This two-stage approach eliminates almost all collision in the first stage, leaving only a few collisions for the second stage. Intersections between two triangles can be resolved correctly. In cloth which is composed of thousands of triangles, one particle's movement can lead to its neighbor particle positions' altering. The global performance should be considered in order for a totally collision-free state. A squared cloth draped onto a human model is tested for the techniques we put forward. Experimental results reveal that his procedure is suitable for intersection resolution in cloth simulation.
