Soybean whey and soybean hydrolyzate can be used for the biotechnological production of high-value products. Herein, we isolate soybean whey (SW)-and soybean hydrolyzate (SH)-derived bacterial cellulose (BC, produced by kombucha) and characterize it by a range of instrumental techniques to reveal differences in micromorphology, crystallinity, and themal behavior. Studies have shown that the amounts of wet state BC produced from HS, SW and SH was 181 g/L, 47 g/L and 83 g/L, respectively. The instrumental analysis of BC, included SEM, AFM, FT-IR, XRD and TGA. It is shown that the FT-IR spectra of BC have a similar character, but we found differences in the micromorphology,crystallinity and thermal temperature of BC. The minimum average widths of the fibers produced from SH medium was 100 ± 29 nm. The CrI values of BC produced from SH medium was 61.8%. The maximum thermal degradation rate temperature of BC produced from SW medium was 355.73 °C. Low temperature is a common stress source for the poultry industry in the north of China. However, the low energy consuming and economical way to reduce the negative effects from cold stress is still limited. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of rutin on intestinal barrier in mice under low temperature. The cold stress model was established at 4°C for 3 h each day and the experiment lasted for 21 days. Forty Balb/c mice were randomly divided into four treatments: CON, normal temperature with the basal diet; RUT, normal temperature with the basal diet +150 mg/kg body weight (BW) of rutin; CS, mice under cold stress with basal diet; CR, 150 mg/kg of BW rutin under cold stress. Rutin supplementation significantly increased the ileum villus-to-crypt ratio compared with these non-supplemented treatments. Rutin attenuated the hypothermia induced morphological damage in the ileum. In addition, rutin improved the antioxidant capacity of mice under cold stress. Rutin supplementation significantly increased the trypsin activity and inhibited the lipase in cold stressed mice. Rutin supplementation significantly inhibited the production of inflammatory factors induced by cold stress. Rutin induced the inhibition of TLR4 and NF-кB, thereby reducing the expression of inflammation-related genes. In addition, rutin improved the reduction of the intestinal claudin-1 and occludin expression in those mice in the cold stress (P <. 05) and improved the intestinal ZO-1 expression in cold stressed mice. Simple Summary: Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is widely present in animal feed as a mycotoxin, and it poses a serious threat to human and animal health. Curcumin (CUR) as a feed additive has been well documented for its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antiviral activities. The present experiment was designed to investigate the mitigating effect of CUR on the growth performance, liver, and intestinal health of broilers fed AFB1-contaminated diets. The results showed that CUR alleviated liver and intestinal damage in broilers caused by feeding AFB1-contaminated diets, and this damage was associated with the Nrf2 pathway. Notably, CUR also mitigated the changes in intestinal permeability caused by AFB1, which may be closely related to liver health (via the gut–liver axis). These results provide new ideas for future research on the therapeutic mechanism of CUR in alleviating AFB1 poisoning in broilers. This experiment aimed to investigate the mitigating effect of CUR on the growth performance and liver and intestinal health of broilers fed AFB1-contaminated diets. In this study, 320 one-day-old healthy male Arbor Acres (AA) broilers were randomly divided into four groups, including the Control group (fed the basal diet), the AFB1 group (fed the AFB1-contaminated diet containing 1 mg/kg AFB1), the AFB1+CUR group (fed the AFB1-contaminated diet with 500 mg/kg CUR), and the CUR group (fed the basal diet containing 500 mg/kg CUR), with eight replicates of ten animals per group and a 28 d experimental period. In terms of the growth performance, the addition of 500 mg/kg CUR significantly improved AFB1-induced significant reductions in the final body weight on day 28 and mean daily gain (p < 0.05) and increased the ratio of the mean daily feed intake to mean daily weight gain in broilers (p < 0.05). In terms of liver health, significant improvements in liver histological lesions occurred in broilers in the AFB1+CUR group compared to the AFB1 group, with significantly higher glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), catalase (CAT), and total superoxide dismutase (T-SOD) activities (p < 0.05) and significantly higher levels of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1 (Keap-1), heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1), and NAD(P)H quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO-1) gene expression (p < 0.05). In terms of intestinal health, CUR addition significantly increased the relative length of ileum (p < 0.05), significantly elevated the height of ileal villi (p < 0.05), significantly reduced D-Lactate (D-LA) and diamine oxidase (DAO) activities in broiler serum (p < 0.05), significantly increased GSH, CAT, and T-SOD activities in ileal tissues (p < 0.05), and significantly elevated the expression of Nrf2, HO-1, and NQO-1 genes (p < 0.05) compared to the AFB1 group. In conclusion, CUR showed a protective effect against damage to the liver and intestine caused by AFB1 in broilers through the Nrf2 signaling pathway, thereby improving the growth performance of broilers exposed to AFB1. In this study, dielectric elastomers offering intrinsically good integrated performances are achieved by introducing AlN particles grafted with γ-methacryloxypropyl trimethoxy silane (KH570). The C=C of KH570 participated in the vulcanization of NR, which could increase the dispersions and interfacial interactions. By incorporating 10 phr AlN-KH570 fillers, the dielectric and mechanical properties of the composite are increased compared with the pristine DEA, and the breakdown strength remains above 93.9 kV/mm. Correspondingly, the actuation strain of 10 phr AlN-KH570/NR composite is 7 times higher than that of pristine DEA under the same driving voltage. Consequently, the AlN particles developed here are promising candidates as dielectric in actuators, and their excellent electromechanical properties could be applied in future industrial applications of DEs. NiCoFe-based materials have been widely studied due to their excellent catalytic oxidation performance in freshwater. However, the large amount of chloride ions in seawater will severely erode the catalytic site and greatly reduce the catalyst's lifetime. In this paper, a two-dimensional nanosheet quaternary metal hydroxide electrode composed of Ni, Co, Fe, and Ta elements was synthesized via a facile one-step hydrothermal method for efficient oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in seawater electrolysis. Structural characterization and in-situ test revealed that the incorporation of Ta not only optimized the electronic structure of the catalyst but also accelerated the formation of the γ-NiOOH phase, making the active phase is protected from being attacked by Cl- ions during the formation process, enhancing its OER activity while achieving extended durability. The catalyst was operated at an ampere-level of 1 A cm-2 for over one month (800 h), and no significant degradation was observed.
