Abstract

Abstract: We proposed a spectrum method to determine birefraction of the sample. When the infrared incident light transmits in the birefraction direction of the cube crystal, because of the birefraction of the sample, the transmit spectrum appears interference fringes. The equation Δn =1/[D(dυ/dm)] shows the relationship between the birefraction and the wave-number, with the interference-number of crystals in the infrared band at room temperature. Via the infrared transmitting along the x-axis of cube lithium niobate crystal, the interference fringes were found. By the fitted polynomial method, the relationship of the birefraction and the wave-number or wavelength of the lithium niobate crystal be educed, which is, Δn =0.4149−9.00174×10−5 υ +5.64347×10−9 υ 2,or n =0.05366−5.20334×10−5 λ +3.99694×10−8 λ 2. Abstract

Abstract: The absorptive peaks of the H2O-groups were observed in the infrared absorption spectra in the vicinity of 3480cm−1 in LiNbO3 and LiTaO3, and 3580cm−1 in α-quartz. The absorptions of these lines were found to depend on the vibration direction of the polarized incident light, showing the dichroic property in these crystals. The absorption of the ordinary ray waves is much larger than that for the E-ray waves in the crystals. This observation indicates that the direction of the bond vibrations for the H2O-groups is perpendicular to the optic axis of crystals. The dichroic property of the H2O-groups may serve as the tracer to study the local electric field in piezoelectric crystals. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract

MOCVD grown GaInP/GaAs/InGaAs flexible solar cells are irradiated by 14 MeV neutrons and the degradation characteristics of solar cell output parameters are investigated by experimental and numerical simulation methods. The solar cell performance is degraded significantly with the increase of irradiation fluence. When the neutron irradiation fluence reached 7.3 × 1012 n/cm2, the maximum output power density of solar cell is reduced to 70% of its initial value. The main reasons for the degradation are the displacement damages in solar cell lattice caused by the irradiation which is resulting in a considerable reduction in minority carrier lifetime and inefficient photo-generated electron-hole pair collection. Crosslight APSYS software is employed to simulate the solar cell main parameters by solving current continuity and Poisson' s equations, the degradation mechanism is discussed based on the changes of minority carrier lifetime by SRH (Shockley Read Hall) recombination for different irradiation fluences and energy bandgap structure of each subcell. • 14 MeV neutron irradiated GaInP/GaAs/InGaAs flexible solar cells have been studied. • APSYS software is employed to simulate the solar cell main parameters. • Degradation mechanism is discussed based on the changes of minority carrier lifetime. • Degradation ratio of solar cell has been calculated based on displacement damage model.
