Abstract

The synthesis of the supermolecular complexes [Cu(trans-oxpn)(phth)]n.2nH2O and [Cu2(trans-oxpn)(mu-OH)(mu-H2O)]nBrn.2nH2O are described. The first complex was formed via H bonds joining the two-dimensional coordination sheets and the second compound was constructed via H bonds cross-linking the zigzag coordination chains. It was observed that the interaction of the hydrogen bonding in the complexes were an essential element in the formation of higher dimensional metal coordination polymers.

Abstract

β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) immobilization of a chitosan derivate on C6-OH (CTS-6-CD) with good solubility was prepared through a novel method. During the process the amino group of the chitosan was protected by phthalic anhydride and deprotected in the hydrazine hydrate solution. β-CD was immobilized onto the C6 position of chitosan by a nucleophilic displacement reaction. The prepared derivate can be dissolved in hydrazine hydrate (v:v = 1:1), ethylenediamine/ethanol (v:v = 1:1), 1% aqueous acetic acid, DMSO and DMAc. The application of the 6-OH cyclodextrin-immobilized chitosan derivatives in an electrochemical biosensor was examined in a preliminarily manner.

Abstract

The magnetism of highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) induced by 70 keV 12C+ ion implantation was investigated by using electron spin resonance (ESR) and theoretical simulations of the electronic structure of defective graphite using spin-polarized density functional theory. The results indicate that defects produced by 12C+ ion implantation can induce magnetic moments which are localized since a L1 line is observed at a fixed resonance field, independent of the angle between the field and the c axis of the HOPG sample. The angle and temperature dependence of the ESR spectra indicates that extrinsic carriers are induced in the implanted layer, and they may have an exchange interaction with local spins to produce a single asymmetric L1 line of the implanted sample. The consistent results given by the ESR spectra and the theoretical simulations of the electronic structure of defective graphite provide a clear explanation for the magnetic order in 12C+ ion-implanted HOPG. The defects produced by the implantation induce local magnetic moments in the sample. Due to the interaction between the local spins and the extrinsic carriers, the local magnetic moments may be coupled through the mediation of itinerant carriers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The reaction of CuBr2 with 1,10-phen-H2O (1,10-phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) gave two compounds: CuBr2(C12H8N2) and Cu3Br3(C12H8N2)2. Their structures have been characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, elemental analyses, thermogravimetric analyses (TGA) and measurement of variable temperature magnetic susceptibility. Crystal data for CuBr2(C12-H8N2): monoclinic, space group P21/n, a = 0.9977(3) nm, b = 0.65138(14) nm, c = 1.8207(4) nm, β = 91.624(18)°, V = 1.1828(5) nm3, Z = 2. 26. Spatial-temporal evolution and prediction of urban landscape pattern and habitat quality based on CA-Markov and InVEST model.

Abstract

The change of urban landscape caused by human activities is one of the most important factors affecting terrestrial ecosystem. The distribution of urban landscape pattern has great impacts on the service function of regional biodiversity. To reveal the variation of landscape pattern and habitat quality in cities and its driving factors, we extracted landscape type information of Wuhan in 2005, 2010, 2015, and analyzed spatial-temporal evolution of landscape pattern using Markov transition model. The CA-Markov model was used to simulate the landscape pattern in 2020 under the natural growth scenario. The driving factor for landscape variation was analyzed using Logistic regression model. Combined with InVEST model, spatial pattern of habitat quality and its variation in three phases were calculated and evaluated. The simulated habitat quality in 2020 was obtained and its distribution characteristics were analyzed. The relationship between variation of landscape pattern and human activities was explored. The results showed that cultivated land and manufactured surface were the landscape types with highest variations between 2005 and 2015. The area of cultivated land continued to decline, with most of the area being transferred into manufactured surface. The area of manufactured surface continued to increase, most of which was transferred from paddy field and dry land. From 2005 to 2015, the habitat quality declined, with a large number of landscapes with high habitat quality level being changed to low habitat quality level. The overall index of habitat quality decreased and the biodiversity service function declined, indicating the degeneration of habitat quality. In 2015-2020, the evolutionary trend of landscape pattern and habitat quality would keep consistent with the past decade, with an increasing area of artificial surface, decreasing index of habitat quality, weakening biodiversity service function, and degenerating habitat quality. The most important factor accounted for the landscape pattern change in the study area was the changes in Gross Domestic Product (GPD) and regional fiscal revenue. Human socio-economic activities were the key driving force for the spatial variation of landscape and degeneration of habitat quality. Urbanization and land reclamation by filling lakes were the main reasons for landscape pattern variation in Wuhan. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

27. Syntheses, Crystal Structures, and Magnetic Properties of Two Mn(II) Coordination Polymers Based on the 5-Aminotetrazole Ligand: Effect of Sources of Ligand on Construction of Topological Networks

Abstract

Two new Mn(II) coordination polymers, [Mn15(atz)18(μ3-OH)4(μ3-SO4)4]n·9nH2O (1) and [Mn8(atz)4(μ-OH)4(μ4-SO4)4(H2O)4]n·nH2O (2) (atz = 5-aminotetrazolate), have been prepared under similar hydrothermal conditions except the difference of the source of the atz ligand. They were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies, variable temperature (1.8−300 K) magnetic measurements, and thermal gravity analysis. The results of X-ray crystallographic analysis reveal that compound 1is a 3D coordination polymer with a (3,4)-connected (83)4(86)3topology, which is built from trinuclear [Mn3(μ3-SO4)(μ3-OH)] clusters and bridging mononuclear Mn centers. In compound 2, it contains a 3D inorganic cationic [Mn8(μ3-OH)4(μ4-SO4)4]n4+network with an unprecedented (4,6)-connected topological net, the Schläfli symbol of which is (33·82·9)2(36·84·95). The inorganic cationic net is templated by the atz ligands to form a microporous framework with hydrophilic channels. The variable temperature magnetic data indicate that 1exhibits antiferromagnetic behavior, whereas 2shows ferrimagnetic behavior.

Abstract

Biosensor detecting techniques have attracted much attention in the content determination of H2O2, which has been used illegally as a food additive. An electrochemical biosensing membrane for the detection of H2O2 was developed with C6-OH of chitosan immobilized cyclodextrin derivates (6-CD–CTS), which possessed a high cyclodextrin loading capacity (2.12 × 10−4 mol/g), as the carrier. The biosensor was prepared through the inclusion of ferrocene as the electron mediator in a hydrophobic cavity of cyclodextrin and crosslinking catalase (CAT) to 2-NH2 of 6-CD–CTS. The ferrocene-included complex was evaluated by ultraviolet–visible spectrophotometry and thermogravimetric analysis. Its electrochemical behavior was also studied. The impact of the reaction conditions on the CAT immobilization capacity was evaluated. When previous membrane was used to detect the concentration of H2O2 (CH2O2), we found that the catalysis of CAT and the signal amplification of ferrocene had a major impact on the cyclic voltammograms. The optimal working pH of the modified electrode was 7.0. The peak current (I) had a linear relationship with the H2O2 concentration (CH2O2) in the range 1.0 × 10−4 to 1.0 × 10−3 mol/L.
