Deepfake facial manipulation has garnered significant public attention due to its impacts on enhancing human experiences and posing privacy threats. Despite numerous passive algorithms that have been attempted to thwart malicious Deepfake attacks, they mostly struggle with the generalizability challenge when confronted with hyper-realistic synthetic facial images. To tackle the problem, this paper proposes a proactive Deepfake detection approach by introducing a novel training-free landmark perceptual watermark, LampMark for short. We first analyze the structure-sensitive characteristics of Deepfake manipulations and devise a secure and confidential transformation pipeline from the structural representations, i.e. facial landmarks, to binary landmark perceptual watermarks. Subsequently, we present an end-to-end watermarking framework that imperceptibly and robustly embeds and extracts watermarks concerning the images to be protected. Relying on promising watermark recovery accuracies, Deepfake detection is accomplished by assessing the consistency between the content-matched landmark perceptual watermark and the robustly recovered watermark of the suspect image. In recent years, AI generative models have made remarkable progress across various domains, including text generation, image generation, and video generation. However, assessing the quality of text-to-video generation is still in its infancy, and existing evaluation frameworks fall short when compared to those for natural videos. Current video quality assessment (VQA) methods primarily focus on evaluating the overall quality of natural videos and fail to adequately account for the substantial quality discrepancies between frames in generated videos. To address this issue, we propose a novel loss function that combines mean absolute error with cross-entropy loss to mitigate inter-frame quality inconsistencies. Additionally, we introduce the innovative S2CNet technique to retain critical content, while leveraging adversarial training to enhance the model's generalization capabilities. Experimental results demonstrate that our method outperforms existing VQA techniques on the AIGC Video dataset, surpassing the previous state-of-the-art by 3.1% in terms of PLCC., Comment: 5 pages, 1 figure

The increasing popularity of short video platforms such as YouTube Shorts, TikTok, and Kwai has led to a surge in User-Generated Content (UGC), which presents significant challenges for the generalization performance of Video Quality Assessment (VQA) tasks. These challenges not only affect performance on test sets but also impact the ability to generalize across different datasets. While prior research has primarily focused on enhancing feature extractors, sampling methods, and network branches, it has largely overlooked the generalization capabilities of VQA tasks. In this work, we reevaluate the VQA task from a generalization standpoint. We begin by analyzing the weight loss landscape of VQA models, identifying a strong correlation between this landscape and the generalization gaps. We then investigate various techniques to regularize the weight loss landscape. Our results reveal that adversarial weight perturbations can effectively smooth this landscape, significantly improving the generalization performance, with cross-dataset generalization and fine-tuning performance enhanced by up to 1.8% and 3%, respectively. Through extensive experiments across various VQA methods and datasets, we validate the effectiveness of our approach. Furthermore, by leveraging our insights, we achieve state-of-the-art performance in Image Quality Assessment (IQA) tasks. The rapid development of photo-realistic face generation methods has raised significant concerns in society and academia, highlighting the urgent need for robust and generalizable face forgery detection (FFD) techniques. Although existing approaches mainly capture face forgery patterns using image modality, other modalities like fine-grained noises and texts are not fully explored, which limits the generalization capability of the model. In addition, most FFD methods tend to identify facial images generated by GAN, but struggle to detect unseen diffusion-synthesized ones. To address the limitations, we aim to leverage the cutting-edge foundation model, contrastive language-image pre-training (CLIP), to achieve generalizable diffusion face forgery detection (DFFD). In this paper, we propose a novel multi-modal fine-grained CLIP (MFCLIP) model, which mines comprehensive and fine-grained forgery traces across image-noise modalities via language-guided face forgery representation learning, to facilitate the advancement of DFFD. Specifically, we devise a fine-grained language encoder (FLE) that extracts fine global language features from hierarchical text prompts. We design a multi-modal vision encoder (MVE) to capture global image forgery embeddings as well as fine-grained noise forgery patterns extracted from the richest patch, and integrate them to mine general visual forgery traces. Moreover, we build an innovative plug-and-play sample pair attention (SPA) method to emphasize relevant negative pairs and suppress irrelevant ones, allowing cross-modality sample pairs to conduct more flexible alignment. Extensive experiments and visualizations show that our model outperforms the state of the arts on different settings like cross-generator, cross-forgery, and cross-dataset evaluations.

We introduce SonoHaptics, an audio-haptic cursor for gaze-based 3D object selection. SonoHaptics addresses challenges around providing accurate visual feedback during gaze-based selection in Extended Reality (XR), e.g., lack of world-locked displays in no- or limited-display smart glasses and visual inconsistencies. To enable users to distinguish objects without visual feedback, SonoHaptics employs the concept of cross-modal correspondence in human perception to map visual features of objects (color, size, position, material) to audio-haptic properties (pitch, amplitude, direction, timbre). We contribute data-driven models for determining cross-modal mappings of visual features to audio and haptic features, and a computational approach to automatically generate audio-haptic feedback for objects in the user's environment. SonoHaptics provides global feedback that is unique to each object in the scene, and local feedback to amplify differences between nearby objects. Simulating non-equilibrium phenomena in strongly-interacting quantum many-body systems, including thermalization, is a promising application of near-term and future quantum computation. By performing experiments on a digital quantum computer consisting of fully-connected optically-controlled trapped ions, we study the role of entanglement in the thermalization dynamics of a $Z_2$ lattice gauge theory in 2+1 spacetime dimensions. Using randomized-measurement protocols, we efficiently learn a classical approximation of non-equilibrium states that yields the gap-ratio distribution and the spectral form factor of the entanglement Hamiltonian. These observables exhibit universal early-time signals for quantum chaos, a prerequisite for thermalization. The rapid growth of location-based services (LBS) has yielded massive amounts of data on human mobility. Effectively extracting meaningful representations for user-generated check-in sequences is pivotal for facilitating various downstream services. However, the user-generated check-in data are simultaneously influenced by the surrounding objective circumstances and the user's subjective intention. Specifically, the temporal uncertainty and spatial diversity exhibited in check-in data make it difficult to capture the macroscopic spatial-temporal patterns of users and to understand the semantics of user mobility activities. Furthermore, the distinct characteristics of the temporal and spatial information in check-in sequences call for an effective fusion method to incorporate these two types of information. In this paper, we propose a novel Spatial-Temporal Cross-view Contrastive Representation (STCCR) framework for check-in sequence representation learning. Specifically, STCCR addresses the above challenges by employing self-supervision from "spatial topic" and "temporal intention" views, facilitating effective fusion of spatial and temporal information at the semantic level. Besides, STCCR leverages contrastive clustering to uncover users' shared spatial topics from diverse mobility activities, while employing angular momentum contrast to mitigate the impact of temporal uncertainty and noise. Using heterodyne transient grating spectroscopy, we observe a significant enhancement of exciton diffusion within a monolayer WSe$_2$ stacked on top of graphene. We further demonstrate that the diffusion dynamics can be optically tuned on the ultrafast time scale (i.e. a few picoseconds) by altering the photoexcited charge carrier density in graphene. The results reveal that, on a time scale of a few picoseconds, the effective diffusion constant in the WSe$_2$/graphene heterostructure is approximately 40 cm$^2 $/s, representing a substantial improvement over the 2 cm$^2 $/s typical for an isolated monolayer of WSe$_2$. The enhanced diffusion can be understood in terms of a transient screening of impurities, charge traps, and defect states in WSe$_2$ by photoexcited charge carriers in graphene. Furthermore, we observe that the diffusion within WSe$_2$ is affected by interlayer interactions, like charge transfer, exhibiting different dynamic states depending on the incident excitation fluence. These findings underscore the dynamic nature of screening and diffusion processes in heterostructures of 2D semiconductors and graphene and provide valuable insights for future applications of these systems in ultrafast optoelectronic devices.

We introduce a novel time-division multiplexing differential saturated absorption spectroscopy (TDMDSAS) approach, providing superior accuracy and stability in Doppler-free spectroscopy. By distinguishing probe and reference fields in the temporal domain, TDMDSAS efficiently suppresses Doppler broadening and common-mode optical noise. We utilized this technology to determine the absolute frequency of diverse neutral Yb isotopes across its $6s^2\ ^{1}S_0\to 6s6p ^{1}P_1$ transitions. Furthermore, the first-ever observation of in-situ Doppler-free Zeeman sub-level spectra was accomplished, enabling the determination of magnetic field gradients. We stabilized a UV diode laser at 399 nm using an error signal derived from the spectral first-derivative demodulated signal of $^{174}\mathrm{Yb}$. This technique yielded a frequency stability of up to 15 kHz with a 40 s averaging time and a standard deviation of around 180 kHz over a half-hour period. Given its low cost, straightforward, and scalable nature, TDMDSAS holds excellent potential in metrology and quantum applications.

This paper reviews the NTIRE 2024 Challenge on Shortform UGC Video Quality Assessment (S-UGC VQA), where various excellent solutions are submitted and evaluated on the collected dataset KVQ from popular short-form video platform, i.e., Kuaishou/Kwai Platform. The KVQ database is divided into three parts, including 2926 videos for training, 420 videos for validation, and 854 videos for testing. The purpose is to build new benchmarks and advance the development of S-UGC VQA. The competition had 200 participants and 13 teams submitted valid solutions for the final testing phase. Advances in ubiquitous computing have enabled end-user authoring of context-aware policies (CAPs) that control smart devices based on specific contexts of the user and environment. However, authoring CAPs accurately and avoiding run-time errors is challenging for end-users as it is difficult to foresee CAP behaviors under complex real-world conditions. We propose Fast-Forward Reality, an Extended Reality (XR) based authoring workflow that enables end-users to iteratively author and refine CAPs by validating their behaviors via simulated unit test cases. We develop a computational approach to automatically generate test cases based on the authored CAP and the user's context history. Our system delivers each test case with immersive visualizations in XR, facilitating users to verify the CAP behavior and identify necessary refinements. We evaluated Fast-Forward Reality in a user study (N=12). Deep reinforcement learning (DRL) algorithms require substantial samples and computational resources to achieve higher performance, which restricts their practical application and poses challenges for further development. Given the constraint of limited resources, it is essential to leverage existing computational work (e.g., learned policies, samples) to enhance sample efficiency and reduce the computational resource consumption of DRL algorithms. Previous works to leverage existing computational work require intrusive modifications to existing algorithms and models, designed specifically for specific algorithms, lacking flexibility and universality. In this paper, we present the Snapshot Reinforcement Learning (SnapshotRL) framework, which enhances sample efficiency by simply altering environments, without making any modifications to algorithms and models. By allowing student agents to choose states in teacher trajectories as the initial state to sample, SnapshotRL can effectively utilize teacher trajectories to assist student agents in training, allowing student agents to explore a larger state space at the early training phase. We propose a simple and effective SnapshotRL baseline algorithm, S3RL, which integrates well with existing DRL algorithms. The rapid advancement of photorealistic generators has reached a critical juncture where the discrepancy between authentic and manipulated images is increasingly indistinguishable. Thus, benchmarking and advancing techniques detecting digital manipulation become an urgent issue. Although there have been a number of publicly available face forgery datasets, the forgery faces are mostly generated using GAN-based synthesis technology, which does not involve the most recent technologies like diffusion. The diversity and quality of images generated by diffusion models have been significantly improved and thus a much more challenging face forgery dataset shall be used to evaluate SOTA forgery detection literature. In this paper, we propose a large-scale, diverse, and fine-grained high-fidelity dataset, namely GenFace, to facilitate the advancement of deepfake detection, which contains a large number of forgery faces generated by advanced generators such as the diffusion-based model and more detailed labels about the manipulation approaches and adopted generators. In addition to evaluating SOTA approaches on our benchmark, we design an innovative cross appearance-edge learning (CAEL) detector to capture multi-grained appearance and edge global representations, and detect discriminative and general forgery traces. Moreover, we devise an appearance-edge cross-attention (AECA) module to explore the various integrations across two domains. Extensive experiment results and visualizations show that our detection model outperforms the state of the arts on different settings like cross-generator, cross-forgery, and cross-dataset evaluations. Detecting diffusion-generated images has recently grown into an emerging research area. Existing diffusion-based datasets predominantly focus on general image generation. However, facial forgeries, which pose a more severe social risk, have remained less explored thus far. To address this gap, this paper introduces DiFF, a comprehensive dataset dedicated to face-focused diffusion-generated images. DiFF comprises over 500,000 images that are synthesized using thirteen distinct generation methods under four conditions. In particular, this dataset leverages 30,000 carefully collected textual and visual prompts, ensuring the synthesis of images with both high fidelity and semantic consistency. We conduct extensive experiments on the DiFF dataset via a human test and several representative forgery detection methods. The results demonstrate that the binary detection accuracy of both human observers and automated detectors often falls below 30%, shedding light on the challenges in detecting diffusion-generated facial forgeries. Notwithstanding offering convenience and entertainment to society, Deepfake face swapping has caused critical privacy issues with the rapid development of deep generative models. Due to imperceptible artifacts in high-quality synthetic images, passive detection models against face swapping in recent years usually suffer performance damping regarding the generalizability issue. Therefore, several studies have been attempted to proactively protect the original images against malicious manipulations by inserting invisible signals in advance. However, the existing proactive defense approaches demonstrate unsatisfactory results with respect to visual quality, detection accuracy, and source tracing ability. In this study, to fulfill the research gap, we propose the first robust identity perceptual watermarking framework that concurrently performs detection and source tracing against Deepfake face swapping proactively. We assign identity semantics regarding the image contents to the watermarks and devise an unpredictable and nonreversible chaotic encryption system to ensure watermark confidentiality. The watermarks are encoded and recovered by jointly training an encoder-decoder framework along with adversarial image manipulations. Falsification and source tracing are accomplished by justifying the consistency between the content-matched identity perceptual watermark and the recovered robust watermark from the image. An almost Abelian group is a non-Abelian Lie group with a codimension 1 Abelian subgroup. This paper investigates invariant Hermitian and K\"{a}hler structures on connected complex almost Abelian groups. We find explicit formulas for the left and right Haar measures, the modular function, and left and right generator vector fields on simply connected complex almost Abelian groups. From the generator fields, we obtain invariant vector and tensor field frames, allowing us to find an explicit form for all invariant tensor fields. Namely, all such invariant tensor fields have constant coefficients in the invariant frame. From this, we classify all invariant Hermitian forms on complex simply connected almost Abelian groups, and we prove the nonexistence of invariant K\"{a}hler forms on all such groups. Via constructions involving the pullback of the quotient map, we extend the explicit description of invariant Hermitian structures and the nonexistence of K\"{a}hler structures to connected almost Abelian groups., Comment: 16 pages

Introducing environmental feedback into evolutionary game theory has led to the development of eco-evolutionary games, which have gained popularity due to their ability to capture the intricate interplay between the environment and decision-making processes. However, current researches in this field focus on the study to macroscopic evolutionary dynamics in infinite populations. In this study, we propose a multi-agent computational model based on reinforcement learning to explore the coupled dynamics between strategies and the environment in finite populations from a bottom-up perspective. Our findings indicate that even in environments that favor defectors, high levels of group cooperation can emerge from self-interested individuals, highlighting the significant role of the coupling effect between the environment and strategies. Over time, the higher payoff of defection can be diluted due to environmental degradation, while cooperation can become the dominant strategy when positively reinforced by the environment. Remarkably, individuals can accurately detect the inflection point of the environment solely through rewards, when a reinforcing positive feedback loop are triggered, resulting in a rapid increase in agents' rewards and facilitating the establishment and maintenance of group cooperation. Our research provides a fresh perspective on understanding the emergence of group cooperation and sheds light on the underlying mechanisms involving individuals and the environment.

Due to the progression of information technology in recent years, document images have been widely disseminated on social networks. With the help of powerful image editing tools, document images are easily forged without leaving visible manipulation traces, which leads to severe issues if significant information is falsified for malicious use. Therefore, the research of document image forensics is worth further exploring. In this paper, we propose a Character Texture Perception Network (CTP-Net) to localize the forged regions in document images. Specifically, considering the characters with semantics in a document image are highly vulnerable, capturing the forgery traces is the key to localize the forged regions. We design a Character Texture Stream (CTS) based on optical character recognition to capture features of text areas that are essential components of a document image. Meanwhile, texture features of the whole document image are exploited by an Image Texture Stream (ITS). Combining the features extracted from the CTS and the ITS, the CTP-Net can reveal more subtle forgery traces from document images. Moreover, to overcome the challenge caused by the lack of fake document images, we design a data generation strategy that is utilized to construct a Fake Chinese Trademark dataset (FCTM). Experimental results on different datasets demonstrate that the proposed CTP-Net is able to localize multi-scale forged areas in document images, and outperform the state-of-the-art forgery localization methods, even though post-processing operations are applied.

The existing deepfake detection methods have reached a bottleneck in generalizing to unseen forgeries and manipulation approaches. Based on the observation that the deepfake detectors exhibit a preference for overfitting the specific primary regions in input, this paper enhances the generalization capability from a novel regularization perspective. This can be simply achieved by augmenting the images through primary region removal, thereby preventing the detector from over-relying on data bias. Our method consists of two stages, namely the static localization for primary region maps, as well as the dynamic exploitation of primary region masks. The proposed method can be seamlessly integrated into different backbones without affecting their inference efficiency. We conduct extensive experiments over three widely used deepfake datasets - DFDC, DF-1.0, and Celeb-DF with five backbones. Our method demonstrates an average performance improvement of 6% across different backbones and performs competitively with several state-of-the-art baselines., Comment: 12 pages. v2 corrected one minor citation error.
