A recent meta-regression analysis published in Surgery Today examined the effect of low preoperative albumin levels on long-term mortality in patients undergoing cardiac surgery. The analysis found that preoperative hypoalbuminemia is associated with increased long-term mortality and postoperative complications. While there was significant heterogeneity in the pooled analysis, the meta-regression analysis did not establish a significant impact of age on mortality risk. However, the limited inclusion of pediatric studies highlights the need for further research. The study concludes that the harmful effect of preoperative hypoalbuminemia on long-term survival following cardiac surgery is consistent, regardless of age, but other sources of heterogeneity, such as patient comorbidities and nutritional statuses, should be explored. Aim: To clarify the importance of HbA1c reduction and antidiabetic drug use in preventing major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) for patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D). Materials and Methods: We conducted an updated systematic review of contemporary large randomized controlled trials assessing the relative efficacy and safety of antidiabetic drugs with less hypoglycaemia risk in adult T2D patients. Mixed‐effects meta‐regression was performed to examine the associations of HbA1c reduction with subsequent risk of macrovascular and microvascular events. We evaluated the potential mediating role of HbA1c reduction in the relationship between antidiabetic drugs and MACE. Results: Eighteen placebo‐controlled trials comprising 155 610 participants were included. The effects of treatment differed among antidiabetic drug classes for most adverse outcomes with high heterogeneity (I2: 63.7%‐95.8%). Mean HbA1c reduction was lowest with dipeptidyl peptidase‐4 inhibitors (0.30%), followed by sodium‐glucose co‐transporter‐2 inhibitors (0.46%), and was highest with glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists (0.58%) and thiazolidinediones (0.60%). Lower relative risks of MACE were significantly associated with larger reductions in achieved HbA1c (β −0.3182; 95% CI: −0.5366 to −0.0998; P =.0043), even after adjusting for drug classes. When considering HbA1c lowering as a mediator to be controlled, beneficial effects owing to specific antidiabetic treatment for MACE were not observed (χ2 = 1.4494; P =.6940). The proportion mediated by HbA1c reduction was 50.0%‐63.5% for these antidiabetic agents. Conclusions: The main benefits of antidiabetic agents might result from the reduction in blood sugar levels and are generally independent of drugs used. Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is an incurable and aggressive subtype of non-Hodgkin B-cell lymphoma. Increased lipid uptake, storage, and lipogenesis occur in a variety of cancers and contribute to rapid tumor growth. However, no data has been explored for the roles of lipid metabolism reprogramming in MCL. Here, we identified aberrant lipid metabolism reprogramming and PRMT5 as a key regulator of cholesterol and fatty acid metabolism reprogramming in MCL patients. High PRMT5 expression predicts adverse outcome prognosis in 105 patients with MCL and GEO database (GSE93291). PRMT5 deficiency resulted in proliferation defects and cell death by CRISPR/Cas9 editing. Moreover, PRMT5 inhibitors including SH3765 and EPZ015666 worked through blocking SREBP1/2 and FASN expression in MCL. Furthermore, PRMT5 was significantly associated with MYC expression in 105 MCL samples and the GEO database (GSE93291). Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) positive diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (EBV+ DLBCL) predicts poor prognosis and CD30 expression aggravates the worse consequences. Here, we reported that CD30 positivity was an independent prognostic indicator in EBV+ DLBCL patients in a retrospective cohort study. We harnessed CRISPR/Cas9 editing to engineer the first loss-of-function models of CD30 deficiency to identify that CD30 was critical for EBV+ DLBCL growth and survival. We established a pathway that EBV infection mediated CD30 expression through EBV-encoded latent membrane protein 1 (LMP1), which involved NF-κB signaling. CRISPR CD30 knockout significantly repressed BCL2 interacting protein 3 (BNIP3) expression and co-IP assay indicated a binding between CD30 and BNIP3. Moreover, silencing of CD30 induced mitochondrial dysfunction and suppressed mitophagy, resulting in the accumulation of damaged mitochondria by depressing BNIP3 expression. Additionally, CRISPR BNIP3 knockout caused proliferation defects and increased sensitivity to apoptosis. All the findings reveal a strong relationship between mitophagy and adverse prognosis of EBV+ DLBCL and discover a new regulatory mechanism of BNIP3-mediated mitophagy, which may help develop effective treatment regimens with anti-CD30 antibody brentuximab vedotin to improve the prognosis of CD30+ EBV+ DLBCL patients. • Engineered the first loss-of-function models of CD30 deficiency to identify that CD30 was critical for EBV+ DLBCL growth and survival. • Found that BNIP3 expression was positively correlated with CD30 expression in EBV+ DLBCL. • The study reveals a strong relationship between BNIP3-mediated mitophagy and adverse prognosis in EBV+ DLBCL. This study investigated the prognostic value of 25-hydroxy vitamin D (25-(OH)D) deficiency and the association between 25-(OH)D deficiency and c-Myc positivity in 208 newly diagnosed diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) patients. 25-(OH)D deficiency was defined as serum 25-(OH)D level lower than 52.5 nmol/L. Using cutoff values of 40%, positive tumor cells for c-Myc expression was established. One hundred forty-two patients had 25-(OH)D deficiency and 70 had c-Myc positivity with a median follow-up of 29 months (range, 16 to 49 months) in this cohort. Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that 25-(OH)D deficiency was an independent prognostic predictor for inferior progression-free survival (PFS) (P = 0.001) and overall survival (OS) (P = 0.006), and c-Myc positivity was an unfavorable prognostic factor for PFS (P = 0.004). In addition, c-Myc positivity was more frequent in patients with 25-(OH)D deficiency (P = 0.027). Moreover, we found that the presence of c-Myc positivity could aggravate the adverse effects of 25-(OH)D deficiency for PFS time (P = 0.0045). 25-(OH)D deficiency together with IPI (IPI-D) improved the prognostic capacity compared with only IPI in predicting the risk of DLBCL which was assessed by the calculation of receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curves and the areas under the curve (AUC). Noteworthy, c-Myc positivity combined with IPI-D was better than IPI-D in predicting PFS time. In summary, 25-(OH)D deficiency was a strong prognostic factor in DLBCL. Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have received great attention due to their outstanding performance and their low processing costs. To boost their performance, one approach is to reinforce the built‐in electric field (BEF) to promote oriented carrier transport. The BEF is maximized by reinforcing the work function difference between cathode and anode (Δμ1) and increasing the work function difference between lower and upper surfaces of perovskite film (Δμ2) via introduction of electric dipole molecules, denoted as PTFCN and CF3BACl. The synergistic reinforcement of BEF improves charge transport and collection, and realizes markedly high photovoltaic performances with the best power conversion efficiency (PCE) up to 21.5%, a growth of 15.6% as compared to the control device, which is higher than the superposition of improvements achieved by either raising Δμ1 or Δμ2. Importantly, dual‐functional CF3BACl not only supplies dipole effect for tuning the surface potential of perovskite but offers hydrophobic trifluoride group toward the long‐term stable unencapsulated PSCs retaining more than 95% PCE after storing 2000 h under ambient conditions. This work demonstrates the synergistic effect of Δμ1 and Δμ2, providing an effective strategy for the further development of PSC in terms of photovoltaic conversion and stability. This study developed a novel form of sufu. Salted egg white sufu (SEWS) was produced by fermenting steamed salted egg white with douchi koji and ripening at 25°C, 35°C, or 45°C for 19 days. The results show that the protease activity of the koji reduced pronouncedly during fermentation, whereas the one in the SEWS initially increased but subsequently decreased. The total nitrogen and amino nitrogen contents and degree of protein hydrolysis increased during fermentation and decreased during preripening. SEWS, particularly processed at 35°C, contained more free amino acids, notably glutamic acid and leucine, than steamed salted egg white did. After processing, SEWS had darker colors, particularly when manufactured at higher temperatures, and hardness and springiness decreased. The 35°C and 45°C SEWS had higher sensory acceptability. Aims: To investigate the effects of blood glucose control with antihyperglycaemic agents with minimal hypoglycaemia risk on cardiovascular outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D). Materials and methods: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing the relative efficacy and safety of antidiabetic drugs with less hypoglycaemia risk were comprehensively researched in MEDLINE, Embase and the Cochrane Library up to January 27, 2018. Mixed‐effects meta‐regression analysis was conducted to explore the relationship between haemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) reduction and the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), myocardial infarction, stroke, cardiovascular death, all‐cause death, and hospitalization for heart failure. Results: Ten RCTs comprising 92 400 participants with T2D were included and provided information on 9773 MACE during a median follow‐up of 2.6 years. The mean HbA1c concentration was 0.42% lower (range, 0.27%‐0.86%) for participants given antihyperglycaemic agents than those given placebo. The meta‐regression analysis demonstrated that HbA1c reduction was significantly associated with a decreased risk of MACE (β value, −0.39 to −0.55; P < 0.02) even after adjusting for possible confounding factors including age, sex, baseline HbA1c, duration of follow‐up, difference in achieved systolic blood pressure, difference in achieved body weight, and risk difference in hypoglycaemia. Lowering HbA1c by 1% conferred a significant risk reduction of 30% (95% confidence interval, 17%‐40%) for MACE. By contrast, the meta‐regression analysis for trials using conventional agents failed to demonstrate a significant relationship between achieved HbA1c difference and MACE risk (P > 0.74). Conclusions: Compared with placebo, newer T2D agents with less hypoglycaemic hazard significantly reduced the risk of MACE. EBV-positive diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, not otherwise specified (EBV+ DLBCL-NOS), is an EBV-positive clonal B-cell lymphoid proliferation and circulating EBV-DNA is a great indicator for prognosis among EBV associated disease. In this retrospective study, we report 66 EBV+ DLBCL cases among 2137 DLBCL-NOS cases diagnosed from 2013 to 2021 (prevalence of 6.0%). After a median follow-up of 27 months, progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) at 2 years were 39.5% ± 6.2% and 53.6% ± 6.4%, respectively. Multivariate analysis showed that only the biomarker of the positivity of post treatment EBV-DNA had a borderline correlation with shorter PFS and OS (PFS: P = 0.053; OS: P = 0.065). Patients were divided into three subgroups according to dynamic changes of EBV-DNA status: EBV-DNA persistently negative group, EBV-DNA persistently positive group, and EBV-DNA transformed from positive to negative group; among the three groups, patients of the persistently positive group had worst PFS and OS (P = 0.0527 and P = 0.0139, respectively). Decline in EBV copies correlated significantly with treatment response as well. In conclusion, circulating EBV-DNA level played a vital role in prognostic and monitoring marker for EBV+ DLBCL-NOS. Variable (wavelength or feature) selection techniques have become a critical step for the analysis of datasets with high number of variables and relatively few samples. In this study, a novel variable selection strategy, variable combination population analysis (VCPA), was proposed. This strategy consists of two crucial procedures. First, the exponentially decreasing function (EDF), which is the simple and effective principle of ‘survival of the fittest’ from Darwin’s natural evolution theory, is employed to determine the number of variables to keep and continuously shrink the variable space. Second, in each EDF run, binary matrix sampling (BMS) strategy that gives each variable the same chance to be selected and generates different variable combinations, is used to produce a population of subsets to construct a population of sub-models. Then, model population analysis (MPA) is employed to find the variable subsets with the lower root mean squares error of cross validation (RMSECV). The frequency of each variable appearing in the best 10% sub-models is computed. The higher the frequency is, the more important the variable is. The performance of the proposed procedure was investigated using three real NIR datasets. The results indicate that VCPA is a good variable selection strategy when compared with four high performing variable selection methods: genetic algorithm–partial least squares (GA–PLS), Monte Carlo uninformative variable elimination by PLS (MC-UVE-PLS), competitive adaptive reweighted sampling (CARS) and iteratively retains informative variables (IRIV). In a prior study, we discovered that hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) and/or autoimmune diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus, were associated with the rs1234314 C/G and rs45454293 C/T polymorphisms of TNFSF4, the rs5839828 C > del and rs36084323 C > T polymorphisms of PDCD1, and the rs28541784C/T, rs200353921A/T, rs3181096C/T, and rs3181098 G/A polymorphisms of CD28. However, the association does not imply causation. These single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are all located in the promoter region of these genes, so we used the dual-luminescence reporter assay to explore the effect of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) on transcriptional activity. For each promoter–reporter with a single SNP mutation, more than 10 independent experiments were carried out, and the difference in transcription activity was compared using one-way ANOVA and Tukey's honestly significant difference test. The results showed that the G-allele of rs1234314 had 0.32 ± 0.09 times the average amount of relative light units (RLU) compared to the C-allele (p = 0.003), the T-allele of rs45454293 had 4.63 ± 0.92 times the average amount of RLU compared to the C-allele (p < 0.001), the del-allele of rs5839828 had 1.37 ± 0.24 times the average amount of RLU compared to the G-allele (p < 0.001), and the T-allele of rs36084323 had 0.68 ± 0.07 times the average amount of RLU compared to the C-allele (p < 0.001). The CD28 SNPs studied here did not affect transcriptional activity. In conclusion, the findings of this study could only confirm that the SNP had a bio-functional effect on gene expression levels. According to the findings, several SNPs in the same gene have bio-functions that affect transcriptional activity. However, some increase transcriptional activity while others decrease it. We study the Bose-Einstein condensate trapped in a three-dimensional spherically symmetrical potential. Exact solutions to the stationary Gross-Pitaevskii equation are obtained for properly modulated radial nonlinearity. Objective The aim of this study is twofold. First, it aims to determine the factor structure of the Mini-Mental Adjustment to Cancer (Mini-MAC) Scale by using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) to compare the three-factor, four-factor, and five-factor structures among 340 Taiwanese breast cancer patients. Second, it aims to test the difference in the correlations of coping strategies and the outcome measures between two populations: one-month newly diagnosed and five-year long-term survival patients. Methods Two samples, composed of 142 newly diagnosed and 198 long-term survival breast cancer patients, were recruited. Cancer-specific coping and distress were assessed via the Mini-MAC Scale and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), respectively. Results The CFA confirmed Watson's original five-factor structure fit the data best. The correlation difference between the two samples lies in the fighting spirit (FS), which correlated negatively with distress among the newly diagnosed sample but had no correlation among the long-term survivors. Moreover, fatalism (FA) was found to correlate positively with distress. Conclusions The five-factor structure represents a more psychometrically sound measure of psychological adjustment in the current data set. The findings also support the argument that the relationships between coping and distress vary, to some degree, at different phases in the cancer trajectory. FS is only a positive predictor of psychological adjustment among newly diagnosed patients. Because of the exclusion of two items, FA showed a positive correlation with distress, a result that contradicts previous findings. Abstract: In this paper, we articulate a hierarchical model of social interaction anxiety (SIA) and depression to account for their comorbidity and the uniqueness of SIA. First, negative affect (NA) and positive affect (PA) are conceptualized as general factors shared by SIA and depression; the fear of negative evaluation (FNE) is operationalized as the specific factor, which accounts for more of the variance in SIA than in depression, and the fear of positive evaluation (FPE) is operationalized as the factor unique to SIA. FPE is the key feature that differentiates SIA from depression. Second, the proposed hierarchical model describes structural relationships among these factors, in which the higher-level factors (i.e., high NA and low PA) represent the vulnerability markers of both SIA and depression and the lower-level factors (i.e., FNE and FPE) are the dimensions of specific cognitive features. In addition, an alternative model, in which all of the relationships are the same, except that FPE is operationalized as a specific factor, is proposed to clarify the role of FPE. The results from the hierarchical regression and the structural equation modeling support the hypothesized hierarchical model. Abstract: A novel polymer–inorganic composite electrolyte for direct methanol alkaline fuel cells (DMAFCs) is prepared by physically blending fumed silica (FS) with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) to suppress the methanol permeability of the resulting nano-composites. Methanol permeability is suppressed in the PVA/FS composite when comparing with the pristine PVA membrane. The PVA membrane and the PVA/FS composite are immersed in KOH solutions to prepare the hydroxide-conducting electrolytes. The ionic conductivity, cell voltage and power density are studied as a function of temperature, FS content, KOH concentration and methanol concentration. The PVA/FS/KOH electrolyte exhibits higher ionic conductivity and higher peak power density than the PVA/KOH electrolyte. In addition, the concentration of KOH in the PVA/FS/KOH electrolytes plays a major role in achieving higher ionic conductivity and improves fuel cell performance. An open-circuit voltage of 1.0V and a maximum power density of 39mWcm−2 are achieved using the PVA/(20%)FS/KOH electrolyte at 60°C with 2M methanol and 6M KOH as the anode fuel feed and with humidified oxygen at the cathode. The resulting maximum power density is higher than the literature data reported for DMAFCs prepared with hydroxide-conducting electrolytes and anion-exchange membranes. Abstract: A block copolymer poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline)-block-poly(aspartic acid) (PEOz-b-PAsp) was synthesized and investigated as the carrier of antifungal drug amphotericin B (AmB). Polyion complex (PIC) micelles with clear core–shell structures were identified by TEM, which revealed that the PAsp segment became hydrophobic after it interacted with AmB. PEOz-b-PAsp increased not only the solubility of AmB but also simultaneously the drug potency. The prolonged release of AmB from micelles effectively inhibited the growth of Candida albicans even after three days of administration. Moreover, the in vitro cytotoxicity of AmB-loaded micelles was less than that of Fungizone®, which is a powerful antifungal antibiotic that is adopted to treat various fungal infections. The PEOz-b-PAsp PIC micelles with lower cytotoxicity and higher potency than Fungizone® represent a potential means of encapsulating basic/amphoteric drugs. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: We packed an ionic liquid (IL)-functionalized stationary phase – based on 1-octyl-3-propylimidazolium chloride covalently bounded to silica gel – into a 3.2mm×250mm column for the simultaneous separation of acidic, basic, and neutral compounds using carbon dioxide subcritical/supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC), and examined the effects of the pressure, temperature, co-solvents, and additives on the retention behavior of the analytes. The model compounds tested for SFC separation are acetaminophen, metoprolol, fenoprofen, ibuprofen, naphthalene, and testosterone. The data indicate that hydrogen-bonding and hydrophobic interactions between the analytes and the IL-modified stationary phase seem to involve in the separation process. Simultaneous separation of acidic, basic, and neutral compounds via SFC was successful at a co-solvent content of 20% MeOH, a pressure of 110bar, and a column temperature of 35°C. The relative standard deviations of the retention times and peak areas at 50ppm were all less than 4 and 8% (n =6), respectively. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

An exquisite, engineering of two poor hole transporting materials (HTMs, SnO, and PDTON) to form an excellent double‐layered HTL (SnO/PDTON) for inverted tin‐perovskite solar modules (TPSMs) is developed. SnO/PDTON has better photovoltaic performance than the commonly used PEDOT:PSS HTM when large‐area TPSMs are fabricated. Thermally evaporated SnO (that is a simple, available oxide with high hole mobility, good transparency, and adjustable frontier orbitals energy levels) film is used as a main hole transporting layer (HTL). Amphiphilic polymer PDTON (having the amine and ether groups on the side chains) film is used as a Co‐HTL, cross‐linker, passivator, and interface modification agent, as unveiled various physicochemical studies. Double‐layered SnO/PDTON with a flat morphology and good affinity toward perovskite precursor solution creates also a proper surface for depositing large‐area, high‐quality TPsk film. Therefore, TPSM (25.2 cm2 active area on 10 cm × 10 cm ITO substrate) based on double‐layered SnO/PDTON HTL achieving an efficiency over 10% with a negligible current hysteresis is reported for the first time. This study emphasizes not only the exquisite design of combining the specific characteristics of two prosaic HTMs to become a good double‐layered HTL but also gives a direction toward fabricating TPSMs to be applied in all‐perovskite tandem solar module. Mitochondrial dysfunction is associated with cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is characterized by pulmonary vascular remodeling, and the abnormal proliferation, apoptosis and migration of pulmonary arterial smooth muscle cells (PASMCs). The glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, liraglutide, has been shown to prevent pulmonary hypertension in monocrotaline-exposed rats. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of liraglutide on autophagy, mitochondrial stress and apoptosis induced by platelet-derived growth factor BB (PDGF-BB). PASMCs were exposed to PDGF-BB, and changes in mitochondrial morphology, fusion-associated protein markers, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production were examined. Autophagy was assessed according to the expressions of microtubule-associated protein light chain 3 (LC3)-II, LC3 puncta and Beclin-1. Western blot analysis was used to assess apoptosis, mitochondrial stress and autophagy markers. Liraglutide significantly inhibited PDGF-BB proliferation, migration and motility in PASMCs. PDGF-BB-induced ROS production was mitigated by liraglutide. Liraglutide increased the expression of α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) and decreased the expression of p-Yes-associated protein (p-YAP), inhibited autophagy-related protein (Atg)-5, Atg-7, Beclin-1 and the formation of LC3-β and mitochondrial fusion protein dynamin-related (Drp)1. Lymphocyte proliferation and tumourigenesis are dependent on nucleotide synthesis to support DNA, RNA and phospholipid synthesis. Here, we identified that reprogramming of nucleotide metabolism as an important factor divides mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) into two groups with different transcriptional signalling pathways and varying prognoses. We establish a nucleotide metabolism‐related prognostic model that includes six genes with different regression coefficients, which significantly predicts prognosis for MCL patients (p < 0.0001). Of these six genes, de novo CTP synthesis pathway enzyme CTPS1 whose inhibitor (STP938) is already in clinical trials for relapsed/refractory lymphomas (NCT05463263) has the highest regression coefficient. An increase in CTPS1 expression predicts adverse overall survival and progression‐free survival with independent prognostic significance in 105 primary MCL samples and GEO database (GSE93291). CRISPR CTPS1 knockout causes DNA damage and proliferation defects in MCL. Additionally, MYC positively regulates CTPS1 expression, and TP53‐aberrant and ibrutinib‐resistant MCL cells also rely on cytidine metabolism. Furthermore, besides the obvious decreased CTP pool caused by CTPS1 deficiency, CTPS1 inhibition may also induce immune‐related responses via activating dsDNA‐cGAS‐STING pathway, which plays a crucial role in impeding tumour growth in MCL patients. Multifunctional RNA helicase DDX3 participates in HCV infection, one of the major causes of hepatic steatosis. Here, we investigated the role of DDX3 in hepatic lipid metabolism. We found that HCV infection severely reduced DDX3 expression. Analysis of intracellular triglyceride and secreted ApoB indicated that lipid accumulations were increased while ApoB secretion were decreased in DDX3 knockdown HuH7 and HepG2 cell lines. Down-regulation of DDX3 significantly decreased protein and transcript expression of microsomal triglyceride transfer protein (MTP), a key regulator of liver lipid homeostasis. Moreover, DDX3 interacted with hepatocyte nuclear factor 4 (HNF4) and small heterodimer partner (SHP), and synergistically up-regulated HNF4-mediated transactivation of MTP promoter via its ATPase activity. Further investigation revealed that DDX3 interacted with CBP/p300 and increased the promoter binding affinity of HNF4 by enhancing HNF4 acetylation. Additionally, DDX3 partially relieved the SHP-mediated suppression on MTP promoter by competing with SHP for HNF4 binding which disrupted the inactive HNF4/SHP heterodimer while promoted the formation of the active HNF4 homodimer. Collectively, these results imply that DDX3 regulates MTP gene expression and lipid homeostasis through interplay with HNF4 and SHP, which may also reveal a novel mechanism of HCV-induced steatosis. The aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic value of low T3 syndrome in follicular lymphoma (FL). A total of 221 FL patients with detailed serum thyroid hormone levels and other complete clinical data were enrolled. Baseline features associated with low T3 syndrome were analyzed and balanced by propensity score matching. Univariate and multivariate regression analyses were performed to determine independent risk factors for progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). A receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was plotted, and the area under the curve (AUC) was calculated to assess the predictive accuracy of FL international prognostic index FLIPI-1/FLIPI-2 and low T3 syndrome. A total of 22 patients (10.0%) had low T3 syndrome at diagnosis, which was associated with poor PFS and OS in the rituximab era. It is an independent prognostic factor for PFS and OS. Low T3 syndrome and FLIPI-1/FLIPI-2 significantly increased the AUC of PFS and OS compared to FLIPI-1/FLIPI-2 alone. Low T3 is a risk factor for POD24. In conclusion, low T3 syndrome may be a good candidate for predicting the prognosis of CLL in future clinical practice. Background An optimal antithrombotic strategy for patients aged 80 years or older with atrial fibrillation (AF) remains elusive. Objective Using a systematic review with traditional and network meta-analysis, we investigated outcomes in AF patients ≥80 years treated with different antithrombotic strategies. Methods We searched eligible randomised controlled trials (RCTs) and observational studies from MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane Library and Web of Science databases from inception to 16 December 2021. Research comparing treatment outcomes of novel oral anticoagulants (NOACs), aspirin, vitamin K antagonists (VKAs) or no oral anticoagulant/placebo therapy in patients ≥80 years with AF were included. Outcomes were stroke or systemic embolism (SSE), major bleeding, all-cause mortality, intracranial bleeding (ICH) and gastrointestinal bleeding. Traditional and network meta-analyses were performed. Net clinical benefit integrating SSE and major bleeding was calculated. Results Fifty-three studies were identified for analysis. In the meta-analysis of RCTs, risk of SSE (risk ratio [RR]: 0.82; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.73–0.99) and ICH (RR: 0.38; 95% CI: 0.28–0.52) was significantly reduced when NOACs were compared with VKAs. Network meta-analysis of RCTs demonstrated that edoxaban (P -score: 0.8976) and apixaban (P -score: 0.8528) outperformed other antithrombotic therapies by showing a lower major bleeding risk and better net clinical benefit. Both traditional and network meta-analyses from RCTs combining with observational studies showed consistent results. Conclusions In patients aged 80 years or older with AF, NOACs have better outcomes than VKAs regarding efficacy and safety profiles. Neuropathic pain is a debilitating chronic disorder, significantly causing personal and social burdens, in which activated neuroinflammation is one major contributor. Thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) and interleukin (IL)-33 is important for chronic inflammation. Linalyl acetate (LA) is main component of lavender oil with an anti-inflammatory property through TSLP signaling. The aim of the study is to investigate how LA regulates mechanical hyperalgesia after sciatic nerve injury (SNI). Adult Sprague-Dawley male rats were separated into 3 groups: control group, SNI group and SNI with LA group. LA was administrated intraperitoneally one day before SNI. Pain behavior test was evaluated through calibration forceps testing. Ipsilateral sciatic nerves (SNs), dorsal root ganglions (DRGs) and spinal cord were collected for immunofluorescence staining and Western blotting analyses. SNI rats were more sensitive to hyperalgesia response to mechanical stimulus since operation, which was accompanied by spinal cord glial cells reactions and DRG neuro-glial interaction. LA could relieve the pain sensation, proinflammatory cytokines and decrease the expression of TSLP/TSLPR complex. Also, LA could reduce inflammation through reducing IL-33 signaling. The aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR)-ligand axis is involved in immune regulation, but its molecular basis remains to be fully elucidated. Chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 1 (CCL1) is an important chemoattractant, but how CCL1 is regulated remains to be defined. The role of AhR in regulating CCL1 expression in two major subsets of macrophage was investigated. We used a human THP-1 cell line, monocytes, and mouse peritoneal macrophages to generate M(IFN-γ/LPS) and M(IL-4) subsets, and the AhR's ligand effect was determined by the use of a combination of chromatin immunoprecipitation, PCR, and ELISA. Upon exposure to a classical AhR ligand, 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD), selective induction of CCL1 was noted only in M(IL-4), not M(IFN-γ/LPS) cells in human but not murine macrophages. This selectivity was mediated by AhR's binding to the distal dioxin-responsive element (DRE) in the CCL1 promoter of the M(IL-4) subset, and a deletion mutant lacking the distal DRE sequence lost its activity. In contrast to the M(IFN-γ/LPS) cells, the distal DRE was devoid of tri-methylated histone 3 lysine 27 (H3K27) in M(IL-4) cells, and the addition of a H3K27 demethylase inhibitor blocked AhR-mediated CCL1 expression. Similar selectivity of CCL1 expression was also noted in monocyte-derived M(IL-4) subsets, and the level of AhR binding to distal DRE in monocytes was correlated with the levels of plasma interleukin-4 (IL-4) in 23 human subjects. These findings suggested the existence of a new regulatory epigenetic-based mechanism, wherein AhR in concert with IL-4 differentially regulated human, not murine, macrophage CCL1 response. Thrombocytopenia is a condition where the platelet count is under 100 × 109/L, which is caused by various disorders. However, the mechanism of thrombocytopenia is still unclear. Hence, we tried to investigate the correlation between immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of genes related to T cell activation. There were 32 ITP patients and 30 healthy controls enrolled in this study. PCR and sequencing were used to find out the significant SNPs, which we focused on the promoter region of CTLA4 and CD28. In this study, the ITP cases were divided into primary ITP group, secondary ITP group, and the combination of the two to the follow-up analysis. Moreover, dual-luciferase reporter assay was used to evaluate the transcription activity of the significant SNP. We found the − 1765_rs11571315 of CTLA4 gene was associated with primary ITP (p = 0.006), secondary ITP (p = 0.008), and the combination of the two (p = 0.003). Moreover, the −318_rs5742909 also had statistical significance in secondary ITP group that was only caused by autoimmune disease (p = 0.019). In functional study, the rs5742909 would decrease 19% of the transcription activity when it carried a T-allele at this position (p = 0.040). It was noted that CTLA4 gene polymorphism was related to ITP but not CD28. According to our results, we surmised that CTLA4 is involved in the pathogenesis of ITP, and the secondary ITP result from the lower CTLA4 expression that leads to T cell over-activation. Evaluating the quality of herbal medicine based on the content and activity of its main components is highly beneficial. Developing an eco-friendly determination method has significant application potential. In this study, we propose a new method to simultaneously predict the total flavonoid content (TFC), xanthine oxidase inhibitory (XO) activity, and antioxidant activity (AA) of Prunus mume using near-infrared spectroscopy (NIR). Using the sodium nitrite-aluminum nitrate-sodium hydroxide colorimetric method, uric acid colorimetric method, and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical (DPPH) free radical scavenging activity as reference methods, we analyzed TFC, XO, and AA in 90 P. mume samples collected from different locations in China. The solid samples were subjected to NIR. By employing spectral preprocessing and optimizing spectral bands, we established a rapid prediction model for TFC, XO, and AA using partial least squares regression (PLS). To improve the model's performance and eliminate irrelevant variables, competitive adaptive reweighted sampling (CARS) was used to calculate the pretreated full spectrum. Evaluation model indicators included the root mean square error of cross-validation (RMSECV) and determination coefficient (R 2 ) values. The TFC, XO, and AA model, combining optimal spectral preprocessing and spectral bands, had RMSECV values of 0.139, 0.117, and 0.121, with R CV 2 values exceeding 0.92. The root mean square error of prediction (RMSEP) for the TFC, XO, and AA model on the prediction set was 0.301, 0.213, and 0.149, with determination coefficient (R P 2 ) values of 0.915, 0.933, and 0.926. The results showed a strong correlation between NIR with TFC, XO, and AA in P. mume. Therefore, the established model was effective, suitable for the rapid quantification of TFC, XO, and AA. Background: Glycophorin variants of the MNSs blood group are important in Taiwan. For more than 20 years, screening for the most frequent irregular antibody, anti-‘Mia’, has been conducted by using ‘Mia’(+) RBCs, with a significant success. However, the sensitivity and the specificity of this screening strategy have never been validated, and the true incidences of different glycophorin variants in Taiwan have been in controversy. Also, the significance of another less frequent and usually separately reported variant, Sta, has never been evaluated. Methodology/Principal Findings: We ran a population-based screening (from unselected patients in our hospital) for MNSs blood group glycophorin variants by PCR-sequencing method. GP.Mur (Mil.III) was confirmed by sequence from 57 out of 1027 samples (5.6%), and there was no other Miltenberger subtype glycophorin variant found. Glycophorin variant Sta was found from 35 out of 1027 samples (3.4%). In contrast to anti-‘Mia’, which is the most frequently identified irregular antibody in Taiwan, the prevalence of anti-Sta was only 0.13% as determined by serologic method. In addition, two new alleles for Sta were found and reported. Conclusion/Significance: We confirm the long-standing assumption that GP.Mur is the only prevalent Miltenberger subtype in Taiwan. The current anti-‘Mia’ screening method used in Taiwan, although neither sensitive nor specific, is still a suitable practice. Cord blood transplantation (CBT) provides a treatment scheme for hematologic diseases and leukemia in both children and adults. However, adverse reactions and transplantation-related death may still occur in patients receiving CBT even when donor and recipient have fully matched HLA in high-resolution HLA typing analysis. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of HLA-related and unrelated genes are known to associate with disease status of patients with unrelated stem cell transplantation. In this study, the genomic regions ranging from 500 base pairs upstream to 500 base pairs downstream of the eight SNPs that were reported as transplantation determinants by Petersdorf et al. were analyzed to evaluate whether genetic variants were associated with the survival status of patients, and the risk for severe (grades 3–4) graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) or cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection/reactivation. The analyses were performed in the mode of recipient genotype, donor genotype, and recipient-donor mismatching, respectively. By analysis of sixty-five patients and their HLA-matched unrelated donors, we found that five SNPs were associated with patient survival which included the recipient genotype with SNPs of rs107822 in the RING1 gene, and rs2070120, rs17220087 and rs17213693 in the HLA-DOB gene; and the recipient-donor mismatching with SNPs of rs9282369 in HLA-DOA gene, and rs2070120, rs17220087 and rs17213693 in the HLA-DOB gene. Five SNPs were associated with the risk for severe GVHD which included the donor genotype with SNPs of rs213210 and rs2523675; the recipient genotype with SNPs of rs9281491 in the HCP5 gene; and the recipient-donor mismatching with SNPs of rs209130 in the TRIM27 gene, and rs986522 in the COL11A2 gene. Six SNPs were related to the risk for CMV infection/reactivation which included the donor genotype with SNPs of rs435766, rs380924, and rs2523957; and the recipient-donor mismatching with SNPs of rs2070120, rs17220087, and rs17213693 in the HLA-DOB gene; and rs435766 and rs380924 in the MICD gene. Automated Fibre Placement (AFP) allows for efficient deposition of composite prepreg materials at large scale in a reliable and reproducible way, while keeping human effort to a minimum. However, the technique is not perfectly suited to manufacturing small/medium parts with complex geometries. Deviation between as-designed and as-manufactured parts is almost inevitable, as is the occurrence of process-induced defects. In this study, an alternative design and manufacturing process is proposed. Instead of depositing composite tapes directly onto the complex mould, a flat tailored preform made from steered fibre tows is created first, and then the flat preform is subsequently formed into a 3D complex shape. The fibre path in the flat tailored preform is derived from a new virtual 'un-forming' process of a complex 3D part design with target fibre paths. To demonstrate the process, a small doubly curved composite part was un-formed. Fibre-steered tailored preforms were created using the continuous tow shearing (CTS) technique and then formed into the target shape using double diaphragm forming. The as-manufactured part was compared with the as-designed part as well as a part manufactured from straight fibre prepreg. Abstract: Background: An accurate analysis of chimerism kinetics permits early detection of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) in patients with high risks of graft-versus-host disease or those liable to relapse. Although short tandem repeats-PCR (STR-PCR) is the golden standard for quantitative chimerism analysis in most of the clinical laboratories, it has a relatively low sensitivity of 5% and the detection of low percentage in mixed chimerism is usually delayed. In this study, we developed a real-time PCR for chimerism analysis based on the informative biallelic polymorphisms (BP). Methods: The allele frequencies of 19 selective biallelic polymorphic markers were analyzed using the genomic DNA from 100 healthy Taiwanese volunteers. The informative biallelic polymorphic markers with high discrimination power in the Taiwanese population were identified. The TaqMan probe-based real-time BP-PCR for amplification of the informative loci was designed and the detection sensitivity was determined. Clinical application of real-time BP-PCR in chimerism monitoring was evaluated and was compared with the conventional STR-PCR by analyzing the DNA samples obtained at different time points post-HSCT from 4 relapsed and 10 non-relapsed patients. Results: Allele distribution analysis revealed that the loci of S01a, S03, S04a, S05b, S06, S07b, S08b, S09b, S10b and S11a had a relatively high discrimination power and were the informative BP for chimerism monitoring in the Taiwanese population. Real-time BP-PCRs for these 10 BP loci were set up with the detection sensitivity equivalent to 0.003–0.006%. Real-time BP-PCR of the 4 HSCT patients revealed the presence of recipient-specific DNA at early time point than STR-PCR for 3 of the patients, whereas real-time BP-PCR was as effective as STR-PCR in uncovering the sign of relapse for one of the patients. In addition, the baseline value for the patients with no sign of relapse was 0.127±0.193% of recipient DNA. Conclusion: We conclude that real-time BP-PCR is a sensitive and reliable method for chimerism monitoring and is superior to the STR-PCR in identifying patients who are at high risk for relapse after transplantation. Abstract: Polyvinyl alcohol/fumed silica (PVA/FS) nano-composites were prepared through a solution casting method. The water diffusivity increased as FS was incorporated into the PVA matrix. The ionic conductivity of the KOH-doped PVA composites increased with the FS concentration. Meanwhile, the methanol permeability in the resulting composites decreased with FS addition due to suppressed methanol solubility and diffusivity. The PVA/KOH and PVA/FS/KOH electrolytes were employed in direct methanol alkaline fuel cells (DMAFCs). The effects of methanol and KOH concentrations, oxygen humidification, oxygen flow rate and the operating temperature on cell performance were investigated from the standpoints of kinetics and material characteristics. Oxygen humidification was necessary and a higher oxygen flow rate improved the cell performance. The open-circuit voltage and maximum power density of the PVA/(20%)FS/KOH electrolyte increased with increasing FS concentrations and operating temperatures. Among the tested methanol and KOH concentrations, the maximum power density of 15.3mWcm−2 was achieved for a DMAFC consisting of a PVA/(20%)FS/KOH electrolyte with 2M methanol and 2M KOH as the anode feed. Abstract: Accurately predicting binding affinity constant (KA ) is highly required to determine the binding energetics of the driving forces in drug–DNA interactions. Recently, PD153035, brominated anilinoquinazoline, has been reported to be not only a highly selective inhibitor of epidermal growth factor receptor but also a DNA intercalator. Here, we use a dual-trap optical tweezers to determining KA for PD153035, where KA is determined from the changes in B-form contour length (L) of PD153035–DNA complex. Here, L is fitted using a modified wormlike chain model. We found that a noticeable increment in L in 1mM sodium cacodylate was exhibited. Furthermore, our results showed that =1.18(±0.09)×104 (1/M) at 23±0.5°C and the minimum distance between adjacent bound PD153035≈11bp. The mechanical performance of electroplated Cu plays a crucial role in next-generation Cu-to-Cu direct bonding for the three-dimension integrated circuit (3D IC). This work reports direct-current electroplated (111)-preferred and nanotwin-doped nanocrystalline Cu, of which strength is at the forefront performance compared with all reported electroplated Cu materials. Tension and compression tests are performed to present the ultrahigh ultimate strength of 977 MPa and 1158 MPa, respectively. The microstructure of nanoscale Cu grains with an average grain size around 61 nm greatly contributes to the ultrahigh strength as described by the grain refinement effect. A gap between the obtained yield strength and the Hall–Petch relationship indicates the presence of extra strengthening mechanisms. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy analysis identify the highly (111) oriented texture and sporadic twins with optimum thicknesses, which can effectively impede intragranular dislocation movements, thus further advance the strength. Via filling capability and high throughput are also demonstrated in the patterned wafer plating. The combination of ultrahigh tensile/compressive strength, (111) preferred texture, superfilling capability and high throughput satisfies the critical requirement of Cu interconnects plating technology towards the industrial manufacturing in advanced 3D IC packaging application. Transfusion reactions are mainly induced by the interaction of an antigen and antibody. However, transfusion reactions still occur with the implementing of crossmatching and usage of pre-storage leukoreduced blood products. The roles of CD28 and CTLA4 gene polymorphisms in transfusion reaction have been shown, and subjects with certain single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the CD28 or CTLA4 gene had a significantly higher risk of transfusion reactions. In total, 40 patients with transfusion reactions after receiving pre-storage leukoreduced blood products were enrolled in this study. We focused on the SNPs located in the CD28 promoter region (rs1879877, rs3181096, rs3181097, and rs3181098) to find out the significant SNP. A luciferase reporter assay was used to investigate the expression level of protein affected by promoter SNP variation. We found that the polymorphism of rs3181097 was associated with transfusion reactions (p = 0.003 in additive model and p = 0.015 in dominant model). Consequently, we investigated the biological function in the CD28 promoter polymorphisms (rs1879877 G > T, rs3181096 C > T, rs3181097 G > A, and rs3181098 G > A) by using dual-spectral luciferase reporter assay. The results showed that the ex-pression level of CD28 was decreased under the effect of rs3181097 with A-allele. Adverse reactions may still occur in some patients after receiving haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), even when choosing a human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-matched donor. The adverse reactions of transplantation include disease relapse, graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), mortality and CMV infection. However, only the relapse was discussed in our previous study. Therefore, in this study, we investigated the correlation between the gene polymorphisms within the HLA region and the adverse reactions of post-HSCT in patients with acute leukaemia (n = 176), where 72 patients were diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukaemia (ALL) and 104 were acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). The candidate single nucleotide polymorphisms were divided into three models: donor, recipient, and donor-recipient pairs and the data of ALL and AML were analysed individually. Based on the results, we found 16 SNPs associated with the survival rates, the risk of CMV infection, or the grade of GVHD in either donor, recipient, or donor-recipient matching models. In the ALL group, the rs209132 of TRIM27 in the donor group was related to CMV infection (p = 0.021), the rs213210 of RING1 in the recipient group was associated with serious GVHD (p = 0.003), and the rs2227956 of HSPA1L in the recipient group correlated with CMV infection (p = 0.001). In the AML group, the rs3130048 of BAG6 in the donor-recipient pairs group was associated with serious GVHD (p = 0.048). Cu films owing different grain size and hardness in terms of fine copper (~1.3 μm, ~0.85 GPa) and nano copper (100 nm, ~1.94 GPa) were fabricated through direct current (DC) electroplating. The film microstructures were investigated using focused ion beam (FIB) and electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD). Texture and hardness of the Cu films were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and nanoindentation. The results indicated a growing (200) texture and higher hardness along with the increase of current density. To study the interfacial reactions of the solder joints based on the two Cu films, the Sn-3 wt% Ag-0.5 wt% Cu/Cu and Sn-3.5 wt% Ag/Cu joints were prepared and thermally aged at 150 °C. The fine-Cu exhibited an excellent compact interface, while nano-Cu suffered from void formation at the joint interface. The secondary ion mass spectrometer (SIMS) analysis correlated the results with higher impurity level in nano-Cu. Thus, the strong dependence between interfacial morphology of solder joints and Cu grain size indicated an important role of grain boundary in controlling the hardness and impurities of Cu films along with its reliability of the solder joints. • Fine Cu (~1.3 μm) and nano Cu (100 nm) films show different hardness. • Nano Cu displays a higher hardness (1.94 GPa) than fine Cu (0.85 GPa). • Fine Cu exhibits an excellent compact interface with solder after thermal aging. • Void forms at the solder/nano-Cu interface after thermal aging. • Nano Cu incorporates with a higher level of impurity than fine Cu. CTLA-4 and CD28 belong to co-stimulation molecules, the abnormal expression of which can regulate the T cell activation and then affect the degree of immune response. Moreover, blood transfusion reaction (TR) is a kind of immune reaction. Consequently, the hypothesis of this study was that the TR still occurred after transfusing leukoreduced blood components as a result of the sensitivity of immune system, and a small number of immune stimulations were enough to induce an immune response in patients. There were 38 cases and 36 healthy controls included in this study. The selected CD28 gene were sequenced to search single nucleotide polymorphism (SNPs), and the correlation between TR and these SNPs was analyzed. According to our data, only the rs3181097 (promoter, −1059) of CD28 gene polymorphism was associated with TR. The p value of rs3181097 under the co-dominant model was 0.031. GG was used as a reference genotype, the p value of GG vs. AG was 0.010 (OR: 0.210, 95% CI: 0.062–0.712), and GG vs. AG + AA was 0.028 (OR: 0.292, 95% CI: 0.095–0.901). In addition to CTLA-4, CD28 gene was also a crucial SNP in TR, because there was a signification for the haplotype with Grs3181097 (p = 0.015). Leukocytes and cytokines in blood units have been known to be involved in febrile non-hemolytic transfusion reaction (FNHTR), and these adverse reactions still occur while using pre-storage leukoreduced blood products. Blood transfusion is similar to transplantation because both implant allogeneic cells or organs into the recipient. CTLA4 gene polymorphism was found to be associated with graft-versus-host disease in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. We performed a prospective cohort study at a major tertiary care center to investigate the correlation of CTLA4 gene polymorphism and transfusion reactions. Selected CTLA4 gene SNPs were genotyped and compared between patients with transfusion-associated adverse reactions (TAARs) and healthy controls. Nineteen patients and 20 healthy subjects were enrolled. There were 4 SNPs showing differences in allele frequency between patients and controls, and the frequency of "A" allele of rs4553808, "G" allele of rs62182595, "G" allele of rs16840252, and "C" allele of rs5742909 were significantly higher in patients than in controls. Moreover, these alleles also showed significantly higher risk of TAARs (OR = 2.357, 95%CI: 1.584–3.508, p = 0.02; OR = 2.357, 95%CI: 1.584–3.508, p = 0.02; OR = 2.462, 95%CI: 1.619–3.742, p = 0.008; OR = 2.357, 95%CI: 1.584–3.508, p = 0.02; OR = 2.357, 95%CI: 1.584–3.508, p = 0.02, respectively). Clinically available materials, including allogeneic irradiated costal cartilage and fibrin glue polymer, were used as scaffolds for in vivo chondrogenic differentiation of human adipose-derived stem/stromal cells (hASCs) in the attempt to develop a more efficient treatment over current methods. Current studies include the use of growth-factor stimulation, tissue engineering, and biocompatible materials; however, most methods involve complicated processes and pose clinical limitations. In this report, the xenografts in the experimental group composed of a diced decellularized cartilage extracellular matrix (ECM), hASCs, and fibrin glue polymer were implanted into the subcutaneous layer of nude mice, and the results were compared with two groups of controls; one control group received implantation of decellularized cartilage ECM and fibrin glue polymer, and the other control group received implantation of hASCs mixed with fibrin glue polymer. To evaluate whether hASCs had in vivo chondrogenesis in the xenografts, hASCs were labeled with fluorescent nanodiamonds (FNDs), a biocompatible and photostable nanomaterial, to allow for long-term detection and histological analysis. Increased cellularity, glycosaminoglycan, and collagen deposition were found by the histological examination in the experimental group compared with control groups. With the background-free detection technique and time-gated fluorescence imaging, the numbers and locations of the FND-labeled hASCs could be detected by confocal microscopy. The chondrocyte-specific markers, such as aggrecan and type II collagen, were colocalized with cells containing signals of FNDs which indicated in vivo chondrogenesis of hASCs. Taken together, functional in vivo chondrogenesis of the hASCs could be achieved by clinically available decellularized cartilage ECM and fibrin glue polymer in the nude mice model without in vitro chondrogenic induction. The fluorescent signals of FNDs in hASCs can be detected in histological analysis, such as hematoxylin and eosin staining (H&E staining) without the interference of the autofluorescence. Abstract Spectroscopy is a crucial laboratory technique for understanding quantum systems through their interactions with the electromagnetic radiation. Particularly, spectroscopy is capable of revealing the physical structure of molecules, leading to the development of the maser—the forerunner of the laser. However, real-world applications of molecular spectroscopy are mostly confined to equilibrium states, due to computational and technological constraints; a potential breakthrough can be achieved by utilizing the emerging technology of quantum simulation. Here we experimentally demonstrate through a toy model, a superconducting quantum simulator capable of generating molecular spectra for both equilibrium and non-equilibrium states, reliably producing the vibronic structure of diatomic molecules. Furthermore, our quantum simulator is applicable not only to molecules with a wide range of electronic-vibronic coupling strength, characterized by the Huang-Rhys parameter, but also to molecular spectra not readily accessible under normal laboratory conditions. We evaluated the efficacy and safety of human recombinant prourokinase ( rhpro-UK) on thromboembolic stroke in rats. 60 rats with thromboembolic stroke were divided into 6 groups (n = 10). The model group was given saline, the reagent groups were given rhpro-UK (5, 10, 20 × 10 4 U/kg), and positive control groups were given urokinase (UK) 10 × 10 4 U/kg and recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rt-PA) 9 mg/kg through intravenous infusion at 1.5 h after embolism. And other 10 rats without occluded by autologous blood clots as the sham group were given saline. At 6 h after treatment, neurological deficit score and Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI) including T 1 WI and T 2 WI sequence scanning were measured. At 24 h after treatment, the brain was cut for 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) staining and aspectrophotometric assay to measure the infarct area and intracerebral hemorrhage after neurological deficit detection. rhpro-UK (5, 10, 20 × 10 4 U/kg) improved neurological disorder by 39.1 ± 19.7% (n = 10, P > 0.05), 65.2 ± 14.2% (n = 10, P < 0.01) and 65.2 ± 14.2% (n = 10, P < 0.01) maximally; decreased brain lesion volume by 36.7 ± 34.8% (n = 10, P < 0.05), 77.6 ± 7.7% (n = 10, P < 0.01) and 80.5 ± 6.9% (n = 10, P < 0.01); decreased infarction area by 38.2 ± 24.0% (n = 10, P < 0.01), 73.9 ± 5.2% (n = 10, P < 0.001) and 79.7 ± 4.0% (n = 10, P < 0.001) respectively, and there were no statistics difference between rhpro-UK (5, 10, 20 × 10 4 U/kg) and each positive groups at intracerebral hemorrhage (P > 0.05).
