11. High Energy Density Solid‐State Lithium Metal Batteries Enabled by In Situ Polymerized Integrated Ultrathin Solid Electrolyte/Cathode.

Abstract

Solid‐state batteries (SSBs) are regarded as the most promising next‐generation energy storage devices due to their potential to achieve higher safety performance and energy density. However, the troubles in the preparation of ultrathin solid‐state electrolytes (SEs) as well as the resultant compromise in mechanical strength greatly limit the safety application of SSBs. Herein, a novel in situ polymerized integrated ultrathin SE/cathode design is developed. The ultrathin ceramic layer supported on the cathode serves not only as a rigid scaffold to prevent direct contact between the cathode and anode but also as active inorganic fillers to enhance the mechanical properties of in situ polymerized SE film. The unique Li‐ion coordination environments as well as the Li hopping mechanism profoundly promote fast ion transport in composite SEs. The in situ polymerized SEs simultaneously achieve the balance in ultrathin thickness (10 µm), fast ion transport (0.65 mS cm−1), superior Young's modulus (66.8 GPa), and excellent interface contact. The pouch cells with practical Li||LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2 configuration achieve an ultrahigh volumetric energy density of 1018 Wh L−1 and safety performance. The in situ polymerized integrated ultrathin SE/cathode design exhibits great promise for the practical application of SSBs with high energy density and safety performance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

A new species of Orchidaceae, Phalaenopsis yarlungzangboensis from Motuo, Xizang, is described and illustrated based on morphological characters and molecular phylogenetics. Phalaenopsis yarlungzangboensis is distinguished from its relatives by its column foot with triangular wings, subrectangular lateral lobes concave, lower part white with a deep purplish red spot and hairy and upper part pale yellow with densely rusty spots, rhombic middle lobe with a fleshy horned appendage at base, disc grooved. Molecular phylogenetic analyses and morphological characters indicated that P. yarlungzangboensis is closed to P. deliciosa, P. gibbosa and P. lobbii.

37. Chitosan Supplementation may Improve the Digestive Physiology and Health of Captive Leiothrix lutea

Abstract

We investigated the effects of supplemental chitosan on digestibility of feed nutrients, intestinal histology and digestive enzyme activity in the pancreas, duodenum and jejunoileum in Leiothrix lutea. Sixty-four adult birds were randomly allotted to one of four dietary treatments (basal diet supplemented with 0%, 0.1%, 0.5% and 1% chitosan). The experiment lasted for 30 days, of which the last 4 days involved metabolic experiments. Compared with the control group, the addition of 0.5% chitosan enhanced the apparent metabolism rate of dry matter, metabolisable energy, crude fat and phosphorus, and decreased apparent metabolism rate of calcium; crude protein was unaffected. Compared with the control group, the villous height of the duodenum and ileum supplemented with 0.5% chitosan increased by 12.11% and 15.03%, while the crypt depth in the duodenum deepened by 6.48%. Supplemental chitosan decreased lipase and amylase activities; trypsin and chymotrypsin activities increased first and then decreased as the level of chitosan increased. These data suggest that dietary chitosan (0.5%) may improve the digestive physiology of L. lutea in captivity by increasing the apparent metabolic rate of most nutrients, improving intestinal health and enhancing digestive enzyme activity.

Abstract

Vine Tea (VT), as a well - known Chinese traditional liana medicine and functional tea, is a special plant which is rich in flavonoids; even though some ingredients were isolated via the conventional approach. Nevertheless, there have been no reports about chemical profile through LC - Q - TOF - MS/MS. In this study, an method has been established to rapid separation and structural identification the chemical constituents of Vine Tea fo r the first time by ultra - fast liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole/time - of - flight mass spectra (UFLC - Q - TOF - MS/MS). Based on the accurate mass, retention time and MS spectra, 29 compounds in crude extract, mainly belonging to flavonoids and organi c acids, were explicitly identified or tentatively characterized by comparing with reference standards or literatures. The possible fragmentation pathways were proposed and fragmentation rules of the maj or types of compounds were concluded. The results ind icated that UFLC - Q - TOF - MS/MS based chemical profiling is a highly efficient approach for the original discrimination of Vine Tea as well as other traditional Chinese medicines.
