Aims/Background Prenatal diagnosis is a crucial tool in reducing birth defects. Research indicates that whole-exome sequencing (WES) is particularly effective for detecting abnormalities associated with structural ultrasound findings. This study aimed to evaluate the utility of WES in the genetic diagnosis of prenatal ultrasound abnormalities. Methods A total of 50 pregnant women with prenatal ultrasound abnormalities, diagnosed at Rizhao People's Hospital between January 2023 and May 2024, were enrolled. Amniocytes, abortion tissues, and peripheral blood samples from the couples were collected for family-based WES. Results WES revealed genetic abnormalities in 20 out of 50 cases, resulting in a detection rate of 40%. The detection rates for specific abnormalities were as follows: skeletal abnormalities (41.7%), cardiovascular abnormalities (54.5%), central nervous system abnormalities (30%), urinary system abnormalities (50%), nuchal translucency thickening/hygroma colli (20%), and facial anomalies/cleft lip and palate (25%). The genetic detection rates for monosystemic and multisystemic abnormalities were 34.2% and 50%, respectively. Conclusion WES is crucial in the genetic diagnosis of prenatal ultrasound abnormalities, enhancing the accuracy of prenatal diagnostics and facilitating informed genetic counseling. Several evidence suggests that sleep deprivation (SD) leads to significant changes in the function of neurotransmitter receptors in different nerve cell types. So far, research in this area has focused on brain regions that promote wakefulness and sleep and the hippocampus, which is involved in learning and memory. When wakefulness is longer than the natural duration, there are some selective disruptions in the brain’s sensory processing and cognitive performance.The author of this article discusses sleep deprivation and brain self-clearance patterns, and then explores the relationship between three typical neurotransmitters and sleep deprivation, as well as the detection and change trends of neurotransmitters and their metabolites.It can then be used to assist in the early diagnosis of certain diseases.Of the three neurotransmitters, two can be defined as pleasure neurotransmitters and one is associated with the degenerative neurological disease AD(Alzheimer’s disease). The author also found that there are different response patterns between these neurotransmitters and SD.

Background and purpose: The incidence of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) has increased annually with the popularity of mammography screening. However, current treatment strategies are mostly based on the results of prospective randomized clinical trials in western countries. This study aimed to explore the clinical characteristics, recurrence patterns and prognostic factors of Chinese DCIS patients, hoping to optimize clinical decision-making. Methods: Medical records of 1 185 DCIS patients treated in Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center from January 2008 to January 2017 were retrospectively analyzed. The local recurrence-free survival (LRFS) rate, disease-free survival (DFS) rate and overall survival (OS) rate were calculated using the Kaplan-Meier method. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed using the COX proportional hazards regression model. Results: With a median follow-up of 61 months, 50 treatment failure events were observed, including 16 locoregional recurrences, 30 contralateral breast cancer events and 4 distant metastases. The 5-year OS rate, LRFS rate and DFS rate were 99.9%, 98.7% and 96.6%, respectively. In the multivariate analysis, the positive status of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) was related to higher risk of local recurrence and the LRFS rate was poor (P=0.029). Conclusion: The patient with DCIS was associated with favorable prognosis. HER2 positivity was the risk factor for poor LRFS.

Recent research has concluded that foreign trade is a key factor shaping the urbanization process in developing countries. Yet the empirical evidence is still in its infancy. This paper seeks to fill this gap by using the Financial Crisis of 2008 as a quasi-experiment to examine how trade shocks have affected urbanization in China. We find that such shocks have reduced the change in the urbanization rate by 0.4%. These results are robust after controlling for other factors that affect urbanization. We explore the underlying mechanisms and find that trade shocks reduce the urban – rural income gap by lowering the income of urban residents and slowing down the urbanization process. This article explores the development of predictive biomarkers for radiotherapy outcomes in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). The study integrates the Radiosensitivity Index (RSI) with the Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center (FUSCC) TNBC classification to identify a specific TNBC subpopulation that exhibits radioresistance and an increased risk of local recurrence post-radiotherapy. The study identifies the SERPINB5 gene as a potential therapeutic target for radioresistance in high-risk TNBC patients. The research also reveals distinct immunological profiles in TNBC patients with radioresistant tumors, highlighting the importance of immune modulation in radioresistance. The study concludes that the integration of RSI and FUSCC TNBC subtypes can refine recurrence risk assessment and inform personalized radiotherapy approaches for high-risk TNBC patients. To address the limitations in predictive capabilities of thermal error models built from single-source, single-structure data, this paper proposes a thermal error prediction model based on decision-level fusion of multi-source heterogeneous information to enhance prediction accuracy. First, an experimental platform for multi-source heterogeneous information acquisition was constructed to collect thermal error data from different signal sources (multi-source) and different structures (heterogeneous). Next, based on the characteristics of the multi-source and heterogeneous data, relevant features were extracted to construct the feature set. Then, using the feature information set of the multi-source and heterogeneous data, thermal error prediction sub-models were established using Nonlinear Autoregressive models with exogenous inputs (NARX) and Gated Recurrent Units (GRUs) for a vertical machining center spindle. Finally, the entropy weight method was employed to assign the weights for the linear-weighted fusion rule, achieving decision-level fusion of multi-source heterogeneous information to obtain the final prediction result. This result was then compared with experimental results and the prediction results of single-source models. The findings indicate that the proposed thermal error prediction model closely matches the actual results and outperforms the single-source and single-structure data models in terms of Root-Mean-Square Error (RMSE), Coefficient of Determination (R2), and Mean Absolute Error (MAE). Background: Several COVID-19 vaccines were developed and approved in China. Of these, the BIBB-CorV and CoronaVac inactivated whole-virion vaccines were widely distributed in China and developing countries. However, the performance of the two vaccines in the real world has not been summarized. Methods: A living systematic review based on findings from ongoing post-licensure studies was conducted, applying standardized algorithms. Articles published between 1 May 2020 and 31 May 2022 in English and Chinese were searched for in Medline, Embase, WanFang Data, medRxiv, bioRxiv, arXiv, SSRN, and Research Square, using SARS-CoV-2, COVID-19, and vaccine as the MeSH terms. Studies with estimates of safety, immunogenicity, and effectiveness from receiving the BIBB-CorV or CoronaVac vaccine that met the predefined screening criteria underwent a full-text review. The Joanna Briggs Institute's Critical Appraisal Checklist and the Cochrane risk of bias were used for assessment of the quality. A random-effects meta-regression model was applied to identify the potential impact factors on the vaccines' effectiveness. Results: In total, 32578 articles were identified, of these, 770 studies underwent a full-text review. Eventually, 213 studies were included. The pooled occurrence of solicited and unsolicited adverse events after any dose of either vaccine varied between 10% and 40%. The top five commonly reported rare adverse events were immunization stress-related responses (211 cases, 50.0%), cutaneous responses (43 cases, 10.2%), acute neurological syndrome (39 cases, 9.2%), anaphylaxis (17 cases, 4.0%), and acute stroke (16 cases, 3.8%). The majority (83.3%) recovered or were relieved within several days. The peak neutralization titers against the ancestral strain was found within 1 month after the completion of the primary series of either vaccine, with a GMT (geometric mean titer) of 43.7 (95% CI: 23.2–82.4), followed by a dramatic decrease within 3 months. At Month 12, the GMT was 4.1 (95% CI: 3.8–4.4). Homologous boosting could restore humoral immunity, while heterologous boosting elicited around sixfold higher neutralization titers in comparison with homologous boosting. The effectiveness of receiving either vaccine against death and severe disease was around 85% for both shortly after the primary series. At Month 12, the protection against death did not decline, while the protection against severe disease decreased to ~75%. Conclusions: Both the BIBP-CorV and CoronaVac inactivated vaccines are safe. Sustained vaccine effectiveness against death was determined 12 months after the primary series, although protection against severe disease decreased slightly over time. A booster dose could strengthen the waning effectiveness; however, the duration of the incremental effectiveness and the additional benefit provided by a heterologous booster need to be studied. Radiotherapy has been an important component of cancer treatment. In the malignancy with long survival, radiation-induced cardiovascular toxicity significantly jeopardize patients' outcome. Despite that its pathophysiological mechanism is not clear yet, many studies have confirmed the positive correlation between cardiovascular involvement dose, irradiated volume and radiation-induced cardiotoxicity. Therefore, reducing cardiovascular involvement dose as well as irradiated volume is the key to cardiac sparing techniques in radiotherapy. Cardiac sparing techniques includes: (1) methods that reduce radiation fields and dose; (2) methods that increase the distance between heart and irradiated fields; (3) new techniques such as intensity modulated radiotherapy and proton therapy. Although researches in dosimetry have showed that cardiac sparing techniques could lower cardiovascular involvement dose and irradiated volume, further validation is needed for curative effect.

Underutilization of mental health services is common and associated with substantial suffering, mental disorders and death. The present study aimed to explore factors significantly affecting the professional psychological help-seeking behavior based on the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). A sample of 597 Chinese college students recruited online completed the questionnaires, which measured four constructs of TPB including help-seeking intention, attitude, subjective norm and perceived behavioral control in December 2020. Help-seeking behaviors were evaluated three months later in March 2021. A two-step structural equation modeling procedure was used to test the TPB model. Findings show that partially consistent with TPB, more positive attitudes about seeking professional help (Β =.258, p =.001) and higher perceived behavioral control (Β =.504, p <.001) directly predicted higher intention to seek mental health services, and perceived behavioral control (Β =.230, p =.006) directly predicted help-seeking behavior. However, behavioral intention (Β = −.017, p =.830) did not statistically significantly predict help-seeking behavior, while subjective norm (Β =.047, p =.356) did not predict help-seeking intention as well. The model accounted for 49.9% of the variance modeling help-seeking intention and 12.4% of the variance modeling help-seeking behavior. The results revealed the importance of attitude and perceived behavioral control in predicting help-seeking intention and behavior among Chinese college students and indicated that there existed a gap between intention and actual help-seeking behavior. The trade‐off relation between strength and plasticity is the bottleneck that limits the development of high‐strength and high‐plasticity Al–Cu alloys. Inspired from the influence of precipitate shape on the work‐hardening behavior of Al–Cu alloys, an Al–Cu–Zr–Sc alloy containing a mixed microstructure of spherical‐shaped Al3(Zr, Sc) phases and disk‐shaped θ′ phases is successfully designed and fabricated. Surprisingly, it is found that the strength and plasticity of the Al–Cu–Zr–Sc alloy are synchronously improved compared to the Al–Cu alloy with only disk‐shaped θ′ phases. The introduction of spherical‐shaped Al3(Zr, Sc) phases can increase the yield strength without sacrificing the work‐hardening ability of the Al–Cu–Zr–Sc alloy, which is mainly attributed to the extremely small strain‐hardening exponent of the Al alloy with spherical‐shaped precipitates.
