Abstract

Next-generation mobile communication network (i.e., 6G) has been envisioned to go beyond classical communication functionality and provide integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) capability to enable more emerging applications, such as smart cities, connected vehicles, AIoT and health care/elder care. Among all the ISAC proposals, the most practical and promising approach is to empower existing wireless network (e.g., WiFi, 4G/5G) with the augmented ability to sense the surrounding human and environment, and evolve wireless communication networks into intelligent communication and sensing network (e.g., 6G). In this paper, based on our experience on CSI-based wireless sensing with WiFi/4G/5G signals, we intend to identify ten major practical and theoretical problems that hinder real deployment of ISAC applications, and provide possible solutions to those critical challenges. 16. Highly selective hydrogen peroxide electrosynthesis on copper phthalocyanine: interface engineering with an azo-polymer.

Abstract

The two-electron oxygen reduction reaction provides a new green route for the sustainable production of H2O2, which is cost-effective, less energy-intensive and environmentally friendly compared to the industrial anthraquinone method. However, the activity and stability of the catalyst is still in urgent need of improvement. Herein, the electrode–electrolyte (solid–liquid) interface was adjusted by surface modification of a catalyst, and the modified CuPc-NO2 catalyst with azo molecules exhibited an improved selectivity of H2O2 by 30–50%. Furthermore, the electrode surface was further modified by doping F into the azo molecule to enhance the HO2−desorption property of the catalyst. The proposed CuPc-TAP-F catalyst showed a 98% selectivity of H2O2 with a stability of 40 h and a wide potential window of 0.8 VRHE (≥90% selectivity), reaching a relatively high level in the field of H2O2 electrosynthesis from the point of view of both efficiency and stability. Abstract

Autonomous exploration and mapping in unknown environments is a critical capability for robots. Existing exploration techniques (e.g., heuristic-based and learning-based methods) do not consider the regional legacy issues, i.e., the great impact of smaller unexplored regions on the whole exploration process, which results in a dramatic reduction in their later exploration efficiency. To this end, this paper proposes a Local-and-Global Strategy (LAGS) algorithm that combines a local exploration strategy with a global perception strategy, which considers and solves the regional legacy issues in the autonomous exploration process to improve exploration efficiency. Additionally, we further integrate Gaussian process regression (GPR), Bayesian optimization (BO) sampling, and deep reinforcement learning (DRL) models to efficiently explore unknown environments while ensuring the robot's safety. Extensive experiments show that the proposed method could explore unknown environments with shorter paths, higher efficiencies, and stronger adaptability on different unknown maps with different layouts and sizes. 40. An intelligent indicating label using mulberry pigment, polylactic acid and rutile TiO2nanoparticle for monitoring the freshness of cold fresh pork

Abstract

The purpose of this work is to develop a new type of intelligent indicating label with high sensitivity to volatile bioamine, anti-ultraviolet light and anti-pigment leakage characteristics by electrospinning for real-time visual monitoring the freshness of cold fresh pork. By investigating pH discoloration sensitivity and light stability of plant pigments with different structures, mulberry pigment was selected as the indicator of indicating label. The content of label components (mulberry pigment, polylactic acid and TiO2nanoparticle) significantly affected label performance (light stability, responsiveness to trimethylamine, and anti-leakage of mulberry pigment), and the optimal component content was determined to be 6.01% (w/w) of polylactic acid, 0.62% (w/w) of TiO2nanoparticles and 0.29% (w/w) of mulberry pigment by response surface test based on label performance as response value. A close correlation (the correlation coefficient Rvalues of 0.86–0.97) between the total color difference (ΔE) of the label and the freshness indexes (total plate count, total volatile basic nitrogen content, pH, thiobarbituric acid value and sensory score) of cold fresh pork during cold storage was revealed, and the freshness level of unknown pork samples could be well quantitatively predicted by partial least squares regression models with the determination coefficient (R2) values of 0.89–0.92, facilitating producers, dealers and consumers to know pork quality promptly.

Previous hemodynamic studies have been based on comparisons between post-ruptured and unruptured aneurysms. Nevertheless, changes of aneurysm morphology after rupture render these results unreliable. Moreover, pressure, age, gender, and the morphology of the parent artery also influence these results. Therefore, in the present study, we identified hemodynamic and morphological characteristics of aneurysms prior to rupture using twelve mirror aneurysms.Materials and Methods: From our database, we retrospectively analyzed twelve mirror aneurysms (MANs) prior to rupture. Each mirror aneurysm was divided into the prior to rupture or the unruptured group. Patient-specific models were reconstructed from three-dimensional (3D) images of all patients. Hemodynamic and morphological factors were analyzed and compared.Results: Compared with the unruptured side of MANs, aneurysms prior to rupture were significantly larger and significantly more irregular in shape; they also had significantly higher aspect ratio (AR), size ratio (SR), undulation index (UI), ellipticity index (EI), percentage of low wall shear stress area (LSA) and significantly lower normal wall shear stress (NWSS). The oscillatory shear index (OSI) and nonsphericity index (NSI) in the aneurysms prior to rupture were non-significantly higher than those of the unruptured group.Conclusion: MANs prior to rupture may be extremely useful models to assess the risk of aneurysm rupture. Larger size, irregular shape, higher AR, SR, UI, NI, and lower WSS may be associated with aneurysms at risk for rupture.Keywords: mirror aneurysms, computational fluid dynamics, hemodynamics, morphological, rupture

Abstract

Si 3 N 4 ceramic was successfully joined to itself with in-situ formed Yb-Si-Al oxynitride glass interlayer. The joints were composed of three parts: (I) Si 3 N 4 matrix, (II) oxynitride glass interlayer in which hexagonal or fine elongated β-sialon grains and a few ball-like β-Si 3 N 4 grains exist, and (III) diffusion zone in Si 3 N 4 matrix containing a thin dark layer and a ~ 25 µm thick bright layer. The seam owned similar microstructure to matrix and was inosculated with the matrix as a whole. The strength of the joint tended to increase with the increase of bonding temperature and reached the value of 225 MPa, when the joints were prepared at 1600 °C for 30 min under a pressure of 1.5 MPa. The high-temperature strength remained 94.7% and 75.2% of R.T. strength when the joints were tested at 1000 °C and 1200 °C, respectively. It may be contributed to the high softening temperature of the Yb-Si-Al oxynitride glass phase formed in the seam. Even suffered to the air exposure for 10 h at 1200 °C, the residual strength of the joints was still 143 MPa, attributed to the existence of YbAG phase.

Abstract

Nanoparticles (NPs) with 'stealth' properties have been designed to decrease the phagocytosis of such particles by mononuclear phagocytes and to protect them from enzymatic degradation, thus improving circulation time and bioavailability after intravenous administration. Brain-targeting modifications endow NPs with the capacity to cross the blood–brain barrier, facilitating chemotherapy for brain diseases such as glioma. In this study, newly designed alkoxy cyanoacrylate (CA)-based NPs with stealth and brain-targeting properties were synthesised and evaluated. The monomers for NP core polymerisation were chemically modified to hydrophilic short alkoxy structure for stealth purposes and coated with polysorbate-80 for brain targeting. Two monomers (2-methoxyethyl CA and 2-(2-methoxyethyl)ethyl CA) were used to create NP2 and NP3, respectively. Both NPs were successfully loaded with anti-sense oligonucleotide (ASON) of transforming growth factor beta 2. Compared to traditional n-butyl CA-based ASON–NP1, ASON–NP3 was found to decrease phagocytosis by mononuclear macrophages (RAW264.7) and to increase cellular uptake by cancer cells. ASON–NP3 showed definite brain targeting and anti-cancer effects. This work provides a potential new strategy for preparing stealth NPs core, providing a new NP vehicle for clinical drug delivery that may be targeted to the brain and circulates in the blood for an extended period of time. 50. Preparation of plant-derived compounds/chitosan/gelatin antifungal film and investigation of its control effect on Zygosaccharomyces rouxiicontamination in concentrated apple juice

Abstract

The purpose of this work is to develop a plant-derived compounds (PDCs)/chitosan (CS)/gelatin (GL) packaging lining film with high inhibitory activity against the contamination of Zygosaccharomyces rouxiiin concentrated apple juice. The PDCs with high anti-Z. rouxiiactivity were selected from 19 PDCs for pairwise combining, and the combination with synergistic anti-Z. rouxiieffect was selected to prepare nanoemulsion. Then, the effect of PDCs emulsion on mechanical and anti-Z. rouxiiproperties of CS/GL film was investigated. Finally, the prepared PDCs/CS/GL film was used as packaging lining to explore the preservation effect on concentrated apple juice. The results showed that the combination of trans-cinnamaldehyde and geraniol (4:6, v/v) presented the highest synergistic anti-Z. rouxiieffect (the value of fractional inhibitory concentration index equaling 0.25). Addition of trans-cinnamaldehyde-geraniol nanoemulsion reduced mechanical properties of CS/GL film, but improved anti-Z. rouxiiactivity. The CS/GL film containing 1.5 % (v/v) trans-cinnamaldehyde-geraniol nanoemulsion showed high anti-Z. rouxiiactivity and did not affect the quality of concentrated apple juice, which could be used as a packaging lining for preservation of concentrated apple juice. The PDCs/CS/GL packaging lining film prepared in this work not only presented an enduring and effective inhibitory effect on Z. rouxiicontamination in concentrated apple juice, but also avoided the influences of trans-cinnamaldehyde and geraniol on the quality of concentrated apple juice, which provided a new idea for the development of food preservation packaging film.
