Abstract

This paper introduces a method for characterizing the current noise of commercial constant-current sources(CCSs) using a free-induction-decay(FID) type optically-pumped rubidium atomic magnetometer driven by a radio-frequency(RF) magnetic field. We convert the sensitivity of the atomic magnetometer into the current noise of CCS by calibrating the coil constant. At the same time, the current noise characteristics of six typical commercial low-noise CCSs are compared. The current noise level of the KeySight Model B2961A is the lowest among the six tested CCSs, which is 36.233 0.022 nA / Hz1/2 at 1-25 Hz and 133.905 0.080 nA / Hz1/2 at 1-100 Hz respectively. The sensitivity of atomic magnetometer is dependent on the current noise level of the CCS. The CCS with low noise is of great significance for high-sensitivity atomic magnetometer. Abstract

Adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATLL) remains challenging to treat and has dismal outcome. Allogeneic stem-cell transplantation (allo-SCT) has promising results, but data remain scarce. In this single-center retrospective analysis of 100 patients with ATLL from north America (67 acute, 22 lymphomatous), 17 underwent allo-SCT and 5 autologous SCT (ASCT), with a median follow-up of 65 months. Post-transplant 3-years relapse incidence (RI) and non-relapse mortality (NRM) were 51% and 37%, respectively, and 3-year progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were 31% and 35%, respectively. ASCT 1-year RI was 80% compared to 30% in allo-SCT (p = 0.03). After adjusting for immortal-time bias, allo-SCT had significantly improved OS (HR = 0.4, p = 0.01). In exploratory multivariate analysis, patients achieving first complete response and Karnofsky score ≥ 90 had significantly better outcomes, as did Black patients, compared to Hispanics, who had worse outcome. In transplanted patients, 14 died within 2 years, 4 of which ASCT recipients. Our data are the largest ATLL transplant cohort presented to date outside of Japan and Europe. We show that allo-SCT, but not ASCT, is a valid option in select ATLL patients, and can induce long term survival, with 40% of patients alive after more than 5 years.

Abstract

Fault localization is challenging in an online service system due to its monitoring data's large volume and variety and complex dependencies across or within its components (e.g., services or databases). Furthermore, engineers require fault localization solutions to be actionable and interpretable, which existing research approaches cannot satisfy. Therefore, the common industry practice is that, for a specific online service system, its experienced engineers focus on localization for recurring failures based on the knowledge accumulated about the system and historical failures. Although the above common practice is actionable and interpretable, it is largely manual, thus slow and sometimes inaccurate. In this paper, we aim to automate this practice through machine learning. That is, we propose an actionable and interpretable fault localization approach, DejaVu, for recurring failures in online service systems. For a specific online service system, DejaVu takes historical failures and dependencies in the system as input and trains a localization model offline; for an incoming failure, the trained model online recommends where the failure occurs (i.e., the faulty components) and which kind of failure occurs (i.e., the indicative group of metrics) (thus actionable), which are further interpreted by both global and local interpretation methods (thus interpretable). Based on the evaluation on 601 failures from three production systems and one open-source benchmark, in less than one second, DejaVu can on average rank the ground truths at 1.66-th to 5.03-th among a long candidate list, outperforming baselines by at least 51.51%., Comment: Accepted by ESEC/FSE 2022

Abstract

With the help of Stokes operator S2 squeezed state (also called polarization squeezed state (PSS)) of 795-nm light, rubidium-87 (87Rb) atomic magnetometer based on Faraday rotation has been implemented and characterized.The PSS of Stokes operator S2 of 795-nm light has been prepared by means of coherently combining the polarization coherent state (PCS) of a linearly p-polarized bright 795-nm light beam and a linearly s-polarized squeezed vacuum state (SVS) generated by a 397.5-nm ultraviolet laser pumped sub-threshold optical parametric oscillator (OPO) with a PPKTP bulk crystal inside the OPO cavity.PSS with a squeezing level of -3.7 has been achieved around the analysis frequency of 10 kHz. At different transitions of D1 line, various frequency detuning, and reasonable atomic vapor cells temperature, Faraday rotation has been measured and compared.To decrease absorption (scattering) losses and the back-action from atomic spin noise to the probe beams polarization noise for maintaining the quantum properties of PSS of Stokes operator S2 of 795-nm light, we had to run our magnetometer with 87Rb vapor cells temperature below 60, at which the PSS was almost destroyed.The sensitivities of magnetic field measurement were characterized via measuring signal-to-noise ratio of the alternating current (AC) calibrated magnetic field signal with a balanced polarimeter. Under the conditions of the atomic number density of 5.8*1010 /cm3 and the probe beam with a detuning of - 400 MHz relative to the 5S1/2 (Fg=2) - 5P1/2 (Fe=1) transition of 87Rb D1 line, a typical sensitivity of 19.5 pT/Hz1/2 has been achieved employing PSS of Stokes operator S2 as the probe, compared with a sensitivity of 28.3 pT/Hz1/2 using PCS as the probe.We preliminarily demonstrated that the quantum-enhanced sensitivity in a Faraday-rotation-based 87Rb atomic magnetometer with the help of PSS of 795-nm light., Comment: 8 pages, 5 figures J.
