Previous research suggested that the dramatical decrease in CD8+ T cells is a contributing factor in the poor prognosis and disease progression of COVID-19 patients. However, the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood. In this study, we conducted Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and single-cell T cell receptor sequencing (scTCR-seq) analysis, which revealed a proliferative-exhausted MCM+FASLGlow CD8+ T cell phenotype in severe/critical COVID-19 patients. These CD8+ T cells were characterized by G2/M cell cycle arrest, downregulation of respiratory chain complex genes, and inhibition of mitochondrial biogenesis. CellChat analysis of infected lung epithelial cells and CD8+ T cells found that the galectin signaling pathway played a crucial role in CD8+ T cell reduction and dysfunction. To further elucidate the mechanisms, we established SARS-CoV-2 ORF3a-transfected A549 cells, and co-cultured them with CD8+ T cells for ex vivo experiments. Our results showed that epithelial galectin-3 inhibited the transcription of the mitochondrial respiratory chain complex III/IV genes of CD8+ T cells by suppressing the nuclear translocation of nuclear respiratory factor 1 (NRF1). Further findings showed that the suppression of NRF1 translocation was associated with ERK-related and Akt-related signaling pathways. Importantly, the galectin-3 inhibitor, TD-139, promoted nuclear translocation of NRF1, thus enhancing the expression of the mitochondrial respiratory chain complex III/IV genes and the mitochondrial biogenesis of CD8+ T cells. Our study provided new insights into the immunopathogenesis of COVID-19 and identified potential therapeutic targets for the prevention and treatment of severe/critical COVID-19 patients. Global brands are benefiting from the rapidly growing demand in China. Text displayed both vertically and horizontally is common in Chinese advertisements. The skillful use of text direction can effectively improve advertising persuasiveness. Using two studies, we find that the descriptions of an advertisement that are displayed vertically (vs. horizontally) result in enhanced advertising persuasiveness among consumers who focus on the past. In contrast, the reverse holds for consumers who focus on the future. Furthermore, the results show that consumers' sense of "feeling right" mediates the interaction effect. In addition, we demonstrate how product category plays a vital role in the three‐way interaction effects between product category, temporal focus, and text direction on "feeling right." Compared with utilitarian products, vertical descriptions of hedonic products enhance consumers' sense of "feeling right" when they are in the past‐focus condition. In order to describe passive microwave networks in the time-domain over a given frequency band, we propose an accurate time-domain representation method based on a band-pass S-parameter description of the network. The time-domain representation is developed as a causal non-uniform complex-valued discrete-time impulse response. It is capable of being integrated into circuit envelope simulators and digital processing modules with sophisticated modulation whenever time-domain representations of linear sub-circuits are required. Due to significant response contradictions, unidirectional carrier transmission of typical semiconductor p‐n junctions limits integrated sensors and artificial synapses in a monolithic device. In this work, a bipolar p‐n junction designed by employing the hydrogel/p‐GaN local contact interface with p‐GaN/(In,Ga)N heterojunction, demonstrating the bidirectional photocurrent and sensor/artificial synapse dual‐mode device successfully. After modifying Au nanoparticles, the negative (positive) photocurrent is increased by 900% (300%) under 365 nm (520 nm) light to achieve a more balanced bipolar carrier dynamic. Such a regulation of photocurrent is found to be attributed to the promotion of hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) at the hydrogel/Au/p‐GaN interface. Thus, the device achieves the ultrahigh paired‐pulse facilitation (PPF) index of 243% under self‐powered condition. Moreover, the implementation of plasticity from short‐term to long‐term demonstrates its adaptability in neural morphology visual recognition. Beyond independent working mode, the function of five classic logic gates is achieved under three‐terminal operation. Finally, an encrypted wireless communication system using dual‐channel light signals demonstrates the extensive application potential of the monolithic device. In recent years, the rapid development of brain‐inspired neuromorphic systems has created an imperative demand for artificial photonic synapses that operate with low power consumption. In this study, a self‐driven memristor synapse based on gallium oxide (Ga2O3) nanowires is proposed and demonstrated successfully. This memristor synapse is capable of emulating a range of functionalities of biological synapses when exposed to 255 nm light stimulation. These functionalities encompass peak time‐dependent plasticity, pulse facilitation, and memory learning capabilities. It exhibits an ultrahigh paired‐pulse facilitation index of 158, indicating exceptional learning performance. The transition from short‐term memory to long‐term memory can be attributed to the remarkable relearning capabilities. Furthermore, the potential applications of the memristor synapse is showcased through the successful manipulation of a humanoid intelligent robot. Upon establishing artificial intelligence (AI) systems, the control commands originating from the synaptic device can drive the humanoid robot to perform various actions. Based on the memristor synapses, the autonomous feedback system of the humanoid robot facilitates a good collaboration between robotic actions and bio‐inspired light perception. Therefore, this research opens up an effective way to advance the development of neuromorphic computing technologies, AI systems, and intelligent robots that demand ultra‐low energy consumption. Objective: The long-term glucose monitoring is essential to the risk assessment of diabetic retinopathy (DR), the aim of this study was to investigate the predictive ability of visit-to-visit fasting blood glucose (FBG) indices on the risk of DR., Methods: This was a community-based, cohort study conducted from 2013 to 2021. DR was diagnosed by digital fundus photography. The FPG indices included FBG, var. Associations of each FBG indices and DR were estimated using multinomial logistic regression models adjusting for confounders, and discrimination was determined by area under the curve (AUC). Predictive utility of different models was compared by changes in AUC, integrated discrimination improvement (IDI), and net reclassification index (NRI)., Results: This study analyzed 5054 participants, the mean age was 46.26 ± 11.44 years, and 2620 (51.84%) were women. After adjustment for confounders, the adjusted odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for FBG, SD, CV, VIM, ARV, M-FBG, and cumulative FBG load were 1.62 (1.52-1.73), 2.74 (2.38-3.16), 1.78 (1.62-1.95), 1.11 (0.95-1.29), 1.72 (1.56-1.91), 2.15 (1.96-2.36), and 2.57 (2.31-2.85), respectively.
