In this paper, we consider the exogenous chemotaxis system with physical mixed zero-flux and Dirichlet boundary conditions in one dimension. Since the Dirichlet boundary condition can not contribute necessary estimates for the cross-diffusion structure in the system, the global-in-time existence and asymptotic behavior of solutions remain open up to date. In this paper, we overcome this difficulty by employing the technique of taking anti-derivative so that the Dirichlet boundary condition can be fully used, and show that the system admits global strong solutions which exponentially stabilize to the unique stationary solution as time tends to infinity against some suitable small perturbations. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first result obtained on the global well-posedness and asymptotic behavior of solutions to the exogenous chemotaxis system with physical boundary conditions., Comment: 23 pages

This paper considers the spreading speed of cooperative nonlocal dispersal system with irreducible reaction functions and non-uniform initial data. Here the non-uniformity means that all components of initial data decay exponentially but their decay rates are different. It is well-known that in a monostable reaction-diffusion or nonlocal dispersal equation, different decay rates of initial data yield different spreading speeds. In this paper, we show that due to the cooperation and irreducibility of reaction functions, all components of the solution with non-uniform initial data will possess a uniform spreading speed which non-increasingly depends only on the smallest decay rate of initial data. The nonincreasing property of the uniform spreading speed further implies that the component with the smallest decay rate can accelerate the spatial propagation of other components. In addition, all the methods in this paper can be carried over to the cooperative system with classical diffusion (i.e. random diffusion).

This paper is concerned with traveling wave solutions for a chemotaxis model with degenerate diffusion of porous medium type. We establish the existence of semi-finite traveling waves, including the sharp type and $C^1$ type semi-finite waves. Our results indicate that chemotaxis slows down the wave speed of semi-finite traveling wave, that is, the traveling wave speed for chemotaxis with porous medium (degenerate) diffusion is smaller than that for the porous medium equation without chemotaxis. As we know, this is a new result not shown in the existing literature. The result appears to be a little surprising since chemotaxis is a connective force. We prove our results by the Schauder's fixed point theorem and estimate the wave speed by a variational approach.

This paper is concerned with the following singularly perturbed non-local semi-linear problem \begin{equation} \label{h} \tag{$\ast$} \begin{cases} \varepsilon^2 \Delta u=\frac{m}{\int_{\Omega}e^{u}{\mathrm{d}x}}u e^u\quad &\mathrm{in}~\Omega,\\ u= u_0~&\mathrm{on}~\partial\Omega, \end{cases} \end{equation} which corresponds to the stationary problem of a chemotaxis system describing the aerobic bacterial movement, where $\Omega$ is a smooth bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^N (N\geq 1)$, $\varepsilon, m$ and $u_0$ are positive constants. We show that the problem \eqref{h} admits a unique classical solution which is of boundary-layer profile as $\varepsilon \to 0$, where the boundary-layer thickness is of order $\varepsilon$. When $\Omega=B_R(0)$ is a ball with radius $R>0$, we find a refined asymptotic boundary layer profile up to the first-order expansion of $\varepsilon$ by which we find that the slope of the layer profile in the immediate vicinity of the boundary decreases with respect to (w.r.t.) the curvature while the boundary-layer thickness increases {w.r.t.} the curvature., Comment: 25 pages, Comments are welcome

This paper is concerned with the asymptotic stability of the initial-boundary value problem of a singular PDE-ODE hybrid chemotaxis system in the half space $\R_+=[0, \infty)$. We show that when the non-zero flux boundary condition at $x=0$ is prescribed and the initial data are suitably chosen, the solution of the initial-boundary value problem converges, as time tend to infinity, to a shifted traveling wavefront restricted in the half space $[0,\infty)$ where the wave profile and speed are uniquely selected by the boundary flux data. The global dynamics and regularity of parabolic-hyperbolic systems is an interesting topic in PDEs due to the coupling of competing dissipation and hyperbolic effects. This paper is concerned with the Cauchy problem of a parabolic-hyperbolic system derived from a chemotaxis model describing the dynamics of the initiation of tumor angiogenesis. It is shown that, as time tends to infinity, the Cauchy problem with large-amplitude discontinuous data admit global weak solutions which converge to a constant state (resp. a viscous shock wave) if the asymptotic states of initial values at far field are equal (resp. unequal). Our results improve the previous results where initial value was required to be continuous and have small amplitude. Numerical simulations are performed to verify our analytical results, illustrate the possible regularity of solutions and speculate the minimal regularity of initial data required to obtain the smooth (classical) solutions of the concerned parabolic-hyperbolic system.

We exploit the existence and nonlinear stability of boundary spike/layer solutions of the Keller-Segel system with logarithmic singular sensitivity in the half space, where the physical zero-flux and Dirichlet boundary conditions are prescribed. We first prove that, under above boundary conditions, the Keller-Segel system admits a unique boundary spike-layer steady state where the first solution component (bacterial density) of the system concentrates at the boundary as a Dirac mass and the second solution component (chemical concentration) forms a boundary layer profile near the boundary as the chemical diffusion coefficient tends to zero. Then we show that this boundary spike-layer steady state is asymptotically nonlinearly stable under appropriate perturbations. As far as we know, this is the first result obtained on the global well-posedness of the singular Keller-Segel system with nonlinear consumption rate. We introduce a novel strategy of relegating the singularity, via a Cole-Hopf type transformation, to a nonlinear nonlocality which is resolved by the technique of "taking antiderivatives", i.e. working at the level of the distribution function. Then, we carefully choose weight functions to prove our main results by suitable weighted energy estimates with Hardy's inequality that fully captures the dissipative structure of the system.

We show that the Keller-Segel model in one dimension with Neumann boundary conditions and quadratic cellular diffusion has an intricate phase transition diagram depending on the chemosensitivity strength. Explicit computations allow us to find a myriad of symmetric and asymmetric stationary states whose stability properties are mostly studied via free energy decreasing numerical schemes. The metastability behavior and staircased free energy decay are also illustrated via these numerical simulations.

The flux limited Keller-Segel (FLKS) system is a macroscopic model describing bacteria motion by chemotaxis which takes into account saturation of the velocity. The hyper-bolic form and some special parabolic forms have been derived from kinetic equations describing the run and tumble process for bacterial motion. The FLKS model also has the advantage that traveling pulse solutions exist as observed experimentally. It has attracted the attention of many authors recently. We design and prove a general derivation of the FLKS departing from a kinetic model under stiffness assumption of the chemotactic response and rescaling the kinetic equation according to this stiffness parameter. Unlike the classical Keller-Segel system, solutions of the FLKS system do not blow-up in finite or infinite time. Then we investigate the existence of radially symmetric steady state and long time behaviour of this flux limited Keller-Segel system.
