However, the incidence, predictors, and management strategies for retrograde GW tracking failure via poor septal CC remain unclear.Methods: In total, 122 CTO patients who underwent retrograde septal percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with poor CC between January 2017 and May 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. Patients were divided into the retrograde GW tracking success group (success group) and the retrograde GW tracking failure group (failure group). Clinical and angiographic data were compared to investigate the predictors of retrograde GW tracking failure.Results: The incidence of GW tracking failure was 22.1% (27/122). Patients in the failure group had a higher prevalence of left anterior descending artery (LAD) CTO (66.7% vs 37.9%; p = 0.009) and a higher incidence of well-developed non-septal collateral (66.7% vs 30.5%; p = 0.001). Patients with a septal CC diameter ≥ 1 mm (48.1% vs 70.5%; p = 0.040), ≥ 3 septal CCs (44.4% vs 66.3%; p = 0.046), and initial retrograde application of Guidezilla (37.0% vs 60.0%; p = 0.048) were significantly lower in the failure group than in the success group. The binary logistics regression model showed that a CC diameter < 1 mm, well-developed non-septal collateral, and LAD CTO were independent predictors for GW tracking failure in patients undergoing retrograde CTO PCI via poor septal CC.Conclusion: The success rate of retrograde GW tracking via poor septal CC was high, with a relatively high procedural success rate. The study population was 3002 subjects from a single hospital who underwent a health checkup from September 1, 2019, to December 31, 2020. The diagnosis of MAFLD was based on the diagnosis of fatty liver in the subject by ultrasound or computed tomography (CT) and the presence of one of the following conditions: overweight or obesity (body mass index [BMI] ≥ 23), type 2 diabetes mellitus, and metabolic abnormalities. The subjects were divided into the GERS group (n = 305) and the non-GERS group (n = 2697) based on the presence or absence of GERS, based on the GerdQ score.Results: The prevalence of MAFLD was significantly higher in the GERS group than in the non-GERS group (p = 0.001). In the univariate analysis of risk factors for GERS, MAFLD was identified as a risk factor for GERS (OR 1.5; 95% CI 1.176– 1.913; p = 0.001). With adjustment of confounding factors such as BMI, waist circumference, lipid levels, and blood pressure, the correlation between MAFLD and GERS was attenuated but still significant (OR 1.408; 95% CI 1.085– 1.826; p = 0.010).Conclusion: MAFLD might be an independent risk factor for GERS.Keywords: gastroesophageal reflux symptoms, GERD, metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease, body mass index, obesity, questionnaire

LncRNA SOX21-AS1 expression in tissues and cells was detected by RT-PCR. miR-NC, si-SOX21-AS1, and Sh-SOX21-AS1 were transfected into BC cells. The PI3K/AKT signaling pathway was interfered with L740Y-P (activator of the PI3K/AKT pathway) and LY294002 (inhibitor of the PI3K/AKT pathway) in BC cells. The SOX21-AS1 expression in BC tissues and cells was tested by qRT-PCR, and the expression levels of p-PI3K, p-AKT, N-cadherin, E-cadherin, and vimentin were detected by WB.Results: SOX21-AS1 was highly expressed in BC, and the p-PI3K and p-AKT levels were also high. Cell experiments showed that inhibiting SOX21-AS1 expression could inhibit the proliferation, invasion, migration, and EMT of BC cells, and up-regulating its expression could promote the proliferation, invasion, migration, and EMT of ovarian cancer cells. The tumor-forming experiment in nude mice was consistent with the results in vitro. 740Y-P intervention could reverse the inhibition effect of Si-SOX21-AS1 on BC cell proliferation, invasion, migration, and EMT, while LY294002 intervention could reverse the promotion effect of Sh-SOX21-AS1 on BC cell proliferation, invasion, migration, and EMT.Conclusion: SOX21-AS1 is highly expressed in BC tissues. Silencing BC expression can inhibit the proliferation, invasion, migration, and EMT of cells by inhibiting the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway, which may be a new target for diagnosis and treatment.Keywords: LncRNA SOX21-AS1, PI3K/AKT, breast cancer cells, proliferation, migration

Study Design: A prospective study. Objective: To validate the effectiveness of push-traction film (PTF) in assessment of curve flexibility in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. Summary Of Background Data: There is no agreement among surgeons about the most advantageous method in flexibility evaluation of scoliosis. As all methods available provide the orthopedic force from one direction and use a single torque, it is difficult for them to achieve the postoperative correction; also they could not meet the needs for different types of curves. Methods: Precisely controlled bidirectional (push and traction) orthopedic forces were applied for curve flexibility evaluation in 31 consecutive adolescent idiopathic scoliosis patients. The correction rate (CR) of postoperation, supine side-bending, suspension, and fulcrum bending radiographs were compared with PTF in instrumented main thoracic (MT) and thoracolumbar/lumbar curves. Correlation and linear regression analyses were also been done to find the best predictor among the four methods. Results: In MT group, CR of PTF was significantly higher than that of side bending (P = 0.010) and suspension (P = 0.000) but not significantly different from that of fulcrum bending (P = 0.335). In TL/L group, CR of PTF was significantly higher than that of suspension (P = 0.000), but not significantly different from that of side bending (P = 0.681) and fulcrum bending (P = 0.382). There was no significant difference between CR of PTF and postoperation in both MT (P = 0.122) and TL/L (P = 0.068) groups. Correlation and linear regression analyses showed that PTF provided the highest correlation of the four methods, with the postoperative angle in both MT (r = 0.957) and MT/L group (r = 0.779). Conclusion: To our knowledge, this was the first report about using precisely controlled bidirectional correction forces for curve flexibility evaluation. Although it did not achieve the best CR among the four methods studied, correlation and regression analyses confirmed that PTF was a more stable and accurate method to predict flexibility. OBJECTIVE: To observe the clinical effect of Qingzhen Decoction (QZD) on measles. METHODS: Adopting the randomizing digital table, 62 patients with measles were assigned to two groups, 32 in the treated group and 30 in the control group. All patients were treated with routine therapy, but QZD was given to the treated group additionally for 5 days. Changes of clinical symptoms, blood routine and liver function before and after treatment were observed, and the medical cost was calculated. RESULTS: After the 5-day treatment, the normalization rate of irritative cough in the treated and the control group was 88.9% (24/27) and 56.0% (14/25) respectively, that of conjunctival congestion was 90.0% (27/30) and 65.5% (19/29) respectively, showing significant differences between groups (P<0.05). The liver function normalization rate in the two groups was 28.6% (2/7) and 25.0% (2/8), and the average medical cost yen 740.7 and yen 749.3, respectively. The total effective rate in the two groups was 96.9% and 93.3% respectively, showing insignificant difference between groups (P>0.05). CONCLUSION: QZD could actively improve the respiratory symptoms like irritative cough and the inflammatory symptoms of eye like conjunctival congestion in patients with measles. Objective: To investigate the biological function of platelet-derived growth factor B (PDGF-B) on the survival and proliferation of cat corneal endothelial cells so as to provide bases for further studies of its role in wound repair and its clinical application.Methods: Total RNA was extracted from the placenta tissues of healthy pregnant women undergoing hysterotokotomy and PDGF cDNA was obtained with reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). The prokaryotic expression vector pET-PDGF-B was constructed and expressed the recombinant PDGF-B in Escherichia coli (E. coli) BL21 (DE3). After purification and refolding on Ni2+-chelation affinity chromatography (NTA) column, it was used to culture cat corneal endothelial cells. Cell proliferation was tested by modified tertrazolium salt (MTT) and flow cytometer. And the morphologic change and the ultrastructure were observed under an inverted phase contrast microscope, a scanning electron microscope and a transmission electon microscope, respectively.Results: PDGF-B chain peptide (PDGF-BB) gene was successfully inserted into the prokaryotic expression vector, pET-28a (+). The purified recombined protein pET-PDGF-B showed a single band on sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electropheresis (SDS-PAGE) with the molecular weight of about 27 u, which was in agreement with the deduced value. MTT and flow cytometry showed that PDGF-BB promoted the survival and proliferation of cat corneal endothelial cells.Conclusions: The construction of recombinant prokaryotic expression vector pET-PDGF-B and the preparation of PDGF-BB protein provide a foundation for further study of the function of PDGF-BB and producing biological PDGF-BB protein. Background and Objectives: Magnesium sulfate (MgSO(4)) is well known as an antagonist of N-methyl-d-aspartate receptors and was used for intrathecal analgesia a century ago. However, the effects of MgSO(4) combined with local anesthetics (LAs) on peripheral nerves are unclear. We tested the hypothesis that MgSO(4) could be used as an adjuvant to prolong and intensify conduction block by amide-type LAs in a rat sciatic-nerve block model. Further, the mechanism of possible synergy between LAs and MgSO(4) was investigated in whole-cell mode patch-clamp experiments.Methods: Sciatic nerves were exposed to 2%/73.9 mM lidocaine, 0.25%/7.7 mM bupivacaine, and 0.5%/15.4 mM ropivacaine, with or without addition of 1.25%, 2.5%, or 5% MgSO(4)/50.7 mM, and nerve block characteristics were assessed. To elucidate the LA-MgSO(4) interaction, voltage-dependent inactivation curves were determined in cultured rat GH(3) cells that expressed neuronal Na(+) channels.Results: Unexpectedly, the addition of MgSO(4) overall significantly shortened the duration of block by lidocaine, bupivacaine, and ropivacaine. The steady-state inactivation of Na(+) channels in the presence of 300 muM lidocaine was almost unchanged by the addition of 10 mM MgSO(4), indicating that MgSO(4) does not affect the potency of lidocaine toward the inactivated Na(+) channel.Conclusions: MgSO(4) coadministered with amide-type LAs shortened the duration of sciatic-nerve block in rats. Therefore, it does not seem to be useful as an adjuvant for peripheral-nerve block. The mechanism of this observed antagonism is unclear but appears to be independent of the action of LAs and MgSO(4) at the LA receptor within the Na(+) channel. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

van der Waals ferroelectrics have captured significant interest for applications in novel memory and neuromorphic computing devices. Within these materials, interfaces between regions of different ferroelectric polarizations (i.e., domain walls) exhibit distinctive behaviors. Characterization of these behaviors remains a challenge, as domain wall thickness resides at the nanoscale. Using tip-enhanced second harmonic generation (TESHG), we demonstrate nanoscale imaging of domain walls in 2D ferroelectric α-In 2 Se 3 . With a narrow-band near-IR laser, we take advantage of high-wavelength, off-resonant signal enhancement to generate robust and reproducible TESHG. A 16 nm spatial resolution is achieved, and we identify spectral features suggesting that nonlocal effects from domain walls persist nanometers into adjacent domains.

Neurotransmitters (NTs) mediate trans-synaptic signaling, and disturbances in their levels are linked to aging and brain disorders. Here, we ascribe an additional function for NTs in mediating intracellular protein aggregation by interaction with cytosolic protein fibrils. Cell-based seeding experiments revealed monoaminergic NTs as inhibitors of tau. Seeding is a disease-relevant mechanism involving catalysis by fibrils, leading to the aggregation of proteins in Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases. Chemotyping small molecules with varied backbone structures revealed determinants of aggregation inhibitors and catalysts. Among those identified were monoaminergic NTs. Dose titrations revealed bimodal effects indicative of fibril disaggregation, with aggregation catalysis occurring at low ratios of NTs and inhibited seeding ensuing at higher concentrations. Bimodal effects by NTs extend from in vitro systems to dopaminergic neurons, suggesting that pharmacotherapies that modify intracellular NT levels could shape the neuronal protein aggregation environment.

Swine influenza virus invades the host through the respiratory mucosa, which severely restricts the development of the pig breeding industry. To construct monomeric and trimeric vaccines, we developed recombinant Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 (EcN) strains that express the receptor binding site (RBS) of the hemagglutinin (HA) antigen from H1N1 swine influenza virus. After the mucosal immunization of mice, we found that probiotics activated CD40 and CD86 in DCs and increased the levels of IL-4 and IFN-γ secretion by T cells. Furthermore, the probiotics improved the function of the mucosal immune system, increased the level of SIgA, level of IgG and number of B220 + IgA + , and activated germinal center B cells. The challenge experiment revealed that the probiotics alleviated weight loss, reduced pathological injury to the lungs, and protected the mice from virus infection. We also observed that the serum neutralizing antibodies of immunized piglets significantly increased, which reduced the shedding frequency of swine influenza virus in the nose of the piglets and reduced the pathological damage by activating the T cell immune response in infected piglets. Zymdetox Z-2000 is a novel zearalenone (ZEN) lactonase produced by Bacillus subtilis that can biodegrade ZEN to hydrolyzed ZEN and decarboxylated hydrolyzed ZEN with much lower estrogenic activity. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of Zymdetox Z-2000 in mitigating the adverse effects of ZEN on the growth performance and reproductive health of gilts. A total of 80 crossbred Landrace × Yorkshire gilts (9.82±0.79 kg) were allocated into five groups and received a basal diet (BD; CON), BD supplemented with 0.4 mg/kg ZEN (ZEN), BD plus ZEN with 0.01% Zymdetox Z-2000 (ZEN-Zym), BD plus ZEN with 0.01% coated Zymdetox Z-2000 (ZEN-CoZym), and BD plus ZEN with 0.1% B. subtilis (ZEN-Bs), respectively, for 28 days. Compared to the CON group, ZEN treatment reduced the body weight gain of the gilts, increased vulva area and vaginal and uterus indices, and increased serum aspartate aminotransferase (AST) activity and estradiol (E2) concentration. ZEN treatment also induced ovaries histopathology changes, decreased the total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) in uterus but increased T-AOC in ovaries, and increased ZEN concentration in stomach and duodenum than those of the CON group. Interestingly, dietary supplementation with the three products effectively alleviated these ZEN-induced adverse effects, as Zymdetox Z-2000 and coated Zymdetox Z-2000 showed better mitigating effects than B. subtilis. Tuberculosis (TB), caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis ( Mtb ), is still a leading cause of mortality worldwide. Fifty-fungi from a marine-derived fungal library were screened for anti- Mtb activity, and an Aspergillus candidus strain with strong anti- Mtb activity was found. Three known flavones, chlorflavonin ( 1 ), dechlorflavonin ( 2 ), and bromoflavone ( 3 ), were isolated from this fungus. Chlorflavonin and bromoflavone showed inhibitory activity with MIC 90 values of 2.6 and 1.2 μ M, respectively. In combination with molecular docking, a series of new chlorflavonin derivatives ( 4 - 41 ) were rationally designed and semisynthesized. Three new derivatives substituted with (2)-chlorocinnamate ( 14 ), (3)-chlorocinnamate ( 15 ), and benzoate ( 18 ) at position 2' showed MIC 90 values ranging from 0.7 to 1.0 μ M, having the potential to be further explored as antitubercular agents.

Purpose: Swelling in the lower limbs after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) affects surgical outcomes. Prolonged swelling requires monitoring and remote management during home-based rehabilitation. Causes of swelling vary but, so far, no indicators are available to monitor and identify causes of lower limb swelling, making it difficult to implement targeted interventions. This study aimed to find the indicators to monitor and identify the causes of lower limb swelling during home-based rehabilitation after TKA by literature research and consulting experts from various disciplines., Methods: The Delphi method was used. Based on literature research and analysis, a set of candidate indicators was developed. Fifteen experts from different disciplines evaluated the validity of the indicators and provided modification suggestions., Results: After two rounds of Delphi consultations, consensus was reached. Agreement scores ranged from 4.40 to 5.00, with low variability (standard deviation 0.00-0.91) and high consistency (coefficient of variation 0.00-0.20). P was less than 0.05 in Kendall's W with an agreement rate of 80.00-100%. In the final set of indicators, there were five primary indicators (representing four swelling causes and a general category), along with 23 secondary indicators and 40 tertiary indicators., Conclusions: This study preliminarily established indicators for at-home identification of post-TKA swelling caused by four distinct reasons. Background: Currently, validated biomarkers for assessing hemorrhagic transformation (HT) after intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) are lacking. We aimed to validate a test combining GFAP (glial fibrillary acidic protein) and UCH-L1 (ubiquitin C-terminal hydrolase-L1) to indicate the absence of HT after IVT., Methods: We prospectively enrolled consecutive patients with stroke treated with IVT from 16 hospitals. Serum GFAP and UCH-L1 levels were measured 24 hours after IVT. Cases from 1 hospital were randomly assigned to the training (70%) and testing (30%) cohorts for internal validation. The external validation cohort included patients from the other 15 hospitals. Cutoff levels of GFAP and UCH-L1 for assessing the absence of HT were established in the training cohort and subjected to internal and external verification., Results: A total of 1063 patients were included. Both GFAP and UCH-L1 levels were independently associated with HT, infarct volume, and 3-month outcome; levels lower than cutoff (12.6 and 63.1 pg/mL, respectively) excluded patients with HT with a negative predictive value of 98.31% (95% CI, 89.70%-99.91%) and detection sensitivity of 98.08% (95% CI, 88.42%-99.90%) in the training cohort. In the testing and validation cohorts, negative predictive value was 100% (95% CI, 75.93%-100%) and 100% (95% CI, 82.19%-100%), respectively, and the sensitivity was 100% (95% CI, 80.76%-100%) and 100% (95% CI, 77.08%-100%), respectively., Conclusions: Serum GFAP and UCH-L1 levels exhibit high sensitivity and negative predictive value for indicating the absence of HT 24 hours after IVT, which supports their potential role in assessing patients' condition after IVT., Competing Interests: Dr Nguyen received consultant fees from Aruna and Brainomix and other fees from the American Stroke Association. Background: Aging and age-related diseases are closely linked to an imbalance in energy supply and demand, a condition that can potentially be mitigated through various interventions, including the use of naturally occurring molecules. Norathyriol (NL), a tetrahydroxyxanthone compound, is prevalent in mango fruit and medicinal plants. While studies have indicated that NL may influence metabolism, its effects on aging have not been extensively explored., Methods: We conducted lifespan analysis and measured lipofuscin accumulation in C. elegans model to evaluate the effects of NL on aging. Additionally, we identified differentially expressed genes (DEGs) through comprehensive RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq) analysis and performed gene ontology (GO) and kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGGs) pathway analyses to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying NL's effects., Results: Our study demonstrated that NL at 50 μM extends the lifespan by 15.9% and reduces lipofuscin accumulation in C. elegans without impacting their feeding capabilities. A total of 928 DEGs were identified in NL-treated worms. The analysis of DEGs indicated that NL's longevity-promoting effects might be due to its regulation of gene expression in lipid metabolism and immune response pathways. Furthermore, the insulin/insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-1 and target of rapamycin (TOR) signaling pathways were implicated in the lifespan-extending effect of NL., Conclusions: These findings broaden the bioactivity profile of polyphenols and highlight the need for further investigation into the therapeutic potential of NL in combating age-related diseases.

A growing number of studies show that the diabetes drug Semaglutide is neuroprotective in Alzheimer's disease (AD) animal models, but its mode of action is not fully understood. In order to explore the mechanism of Semaglutide, 7-month-old APP/PS1/tau transgenic (3xTg) mice and wild-type (WT) mice were randomly divided into four groups: control group (WT + PBS), AD model group (3xTg + PBS), Semaglutide control group (WT + Semaglutide) and Semaglutide treatment group (3xTg + Semaglutide). Semaglutide (25 nmol/kg) or PBS was administered intraperitoneally once every two days for 30 days, followed by behavioral and molecular experiments. The results show that Semaglutide can improve working memory and spatial reference memory of 3xTg-AD mice, promote the release of anti-inflammatory factors and inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory factors in the cortex and hippocampus, and reduce Aβ deposition in the hippocampal CA1 region of 3xTg mice. Semaglutide can inhibit the apoptosis of BV2 cells induced by Aβ1-42 in a dose-dependent manner and promote the transformation of microglia from M1 to M2, thereby exerting anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects. The persistent mutation of the novel coronavirus presents a continual threat of infections and associated illnesses. While considerable research efforts have concentrated on the functional proteins of SARS-CoV-2 in the development of anti-COVID-19 therapeutics, the structural proteins, particularly the N protein, have received comparatively less attention. This study focuses on the N protein, a critical structural component of the virus, and employs advanced deep learning models, including EMPIRE and DeepFrag, to optimize the structures of phenanthridine-based compounds. More than 10,000 small molecules, derived through deep learning, underwent high-throughput virtual screening, resulting in the synthesis of 44 compounds. Compound 38 showed a binding potential energy of -8.2 kcal/mol in molecular docking. Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) and Microscale Thermophoresis (MST) validation yielded dissociation constants of 353 nM and 726 nM, confirming strong binding to the N protein. Compound 38 demonstrated antiviral activity in vitro and exhibited anti-COVID-19 effects by interfering with the binding of N proteins to RNA. This research underscores the potential of targeting the SARS-CoV-2 N protein for therapeutic intervention and illustrates the efficacy of deep learning model in the design of lead compounds. Three-dimensional (3D) pseudohalide rare-earth double perovskites (PREDPs) have garnered significant attention for their versatile physical properties, including ferroelectricity, ferroelasticity, large piezoelectric responses, and circularly polarized luminescence. However, their potential for X-ray detection remains unexplored, and the low Curie temperature (T C ) limits the performance window for PREDP ferroelectrics. Here, by applying the chemical regulation strategies involving halogen substitution on the organic cation and Rb/Cs substitution to the PREDP [(R)-M3HQ] 2 RbEu(NO 3 ) 6 [(R)-M3HQ=(R)-N-methyl-3-hydroxylquinuclidinium] with a low T C of 285 K, a novel 3D PREDP ferroelectric [(R)-CM3HQ] 2 CsEu(NO 3 ) 6 [(R)-CM3HQ=(R)-N-chloromethyl-3-hydroxylquinuclidinium] are successfully synthesized, for which the T C reaches 344 K. More importantly, such a strategy endowed [(R)-CM3HQ] 2 CsEu(NO 3 ) 6 with notable X-ray detection capabilities. Centimeter-sized [(R)-CM3HQ] 2 CsEu(NO 3 ) 6 single crystals fabricated from aqueous solutions demonstrated a sensitivity of 1307 μC Gy air -1  cm -2 and a low detectable dose rate of 152 nGy air  s -1 , the highest sensitivity reported for hybrid double perovskite ferroelectric detectors. Background: Patient Engagement in Research (PER) has demonstrated benefits for patients, researchers and research outcomes. However, China lacks substantial experience in implementing PER. The implementation of PER in China faces unique challenges due to social-cultural differences. This study explores the perspectives of Chinese researchers to identify barriers and facilitators, aiming to guide future PER initiatives and enhance the role of patients in research., Method: Purposive sampling was employed to recruit clinical researchers with diverse healthcare backgrounds in China. Semi-structured interviews, conducted by a qualified researcher, followed interview guidelines derived from a literature review and pilot study modifications. Thematic analysis was applied using QSR Nvivo 8.0., Results: A total of 13 participants were included. Five main themes were identified from interview: (1) selection of patients for research engagement, (2) strategies to alleviate the patient burden in implementing PER, (3) strategies to encourage patients for active expression, (4) benefits to attract patient engagement and (5) researcher's preparation., Conclusion: The cultural trait of 'reservedness' in Chinese culture hinders active expression by patients in the research engagement process. Researchers tend to recruit patients with specific characteristics and emphasize the importance of aligning benefits with patient values to motivate engagement. Addressing patient burden is crucial, and researchers should be well-prepared before PER. Background: Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is a preferred method for early esophageal cancer, yet its application to esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC), especially in the Eastern population with its relative rarity, lacks sufficient literature. This study evaluated ESD's long-term outcomes for EAC, focusing on noncurative resections and diagnostic accuracy., Methods: Between 2012 and 2022, a retrospective study included 68 patients undergoing ESD for early EAC at Jiangsu Province Hospital. Primary outcomes encompassed ESD efficacy, en bloc resection, R0 resection, curative resection rates, and follow-up. Secondary outcomes involved noncurative ESD, T1a/T1b stage comparison, and diagnostic consistency., Results: Postoperative staging revealed T1a (n = 53) and T1b tumors (n = 15). En bloc resection rate was 97.1%, R0 resection rate was 79.4%, and noncurative rate was 30.9%. T1a had significantly higher R0 rate and curative resection rate. Among noncurative ESDs, 33.3% underwent esophagectomy, 42.9% had surveillance endoscopies, 19.1% repeated curative ESD, and 4.7% were lost to follow-up. Average follow-up was 63.76 ± 28.47 months. Furthermore, 6 patients had recurrence, 3 had residual lesions, and 6 deaths occurred, unrelated to ESD. No significant difference in survival or recurrence rates between curative and noncurative ESD groups was observed. ESD led to a histologic diagnosis change in 70.6% of cases, all upstaged., Conclusion: ESD is effective for EAC, with higher curative rates for T1a than T1b. Noncurative ESD cases may benefit from conservative approaches. Long-term follow-up underscores poor consistency between residual lesions and positive margins. Largemouth bass virus (LMBV) is an infectious pathogen that causes high mortality rates in largemouth bass, and outbreaks of this virus can significantly harm the aquaculture industry. Currently, no vaccine has been developed that can effectively prevent the transmission of LMBV. In this study, we constructed a recombinant Lactobacillus plantarum (L. plantarum) strain capable of expressing the MCP gene of LMBV and displaying this protein on its surface; then, we evaluated the immunoprotective effect of this recombinant bacterium on largemouth bass. Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and flow cytometry confirmed that MCP was successfully expressed and anchored on the surfaces of NC8 cells. Immunization of largemouth bass with NC8-pSIP409-pgsA'-MCP via the oral feeding route induced CD4, CD8, IL-1β, and IL-6 gene expression. In addition, NC8-pSIP409-pgsA'-MCP at different CFUs increased the survival of largemouth bass after LMBV infection; in particular, NC8-pSIP409-pgsA'-MCP (10 9  CFU) resulted in approximately 30 % survival. NC8-pSIP409-pgsA'-MCP immunization alleviated the pathological changes in the liver and spleen, exerting a more advantageous protective effect. Objective: To explore the application value of MRI-based imaging histology and deep learning model in the identification and classification of breast phyllodes tumors., Methods: Seventy-seven patients diagnosed as breast phyllodes tumors and fibroadenomas by pathological examination were retrospectively analyzed, and traditional radiomics features, subregion radiomics features, and deep learning features were extracted from MRI images, respectively. The features were screened and modeled using variance selection method, statistical test, random forest importance ranking method, Spearman correlation analysis, least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO). The efficacy of each model was assessed using the subject operating characteristic (ROC) curve, The DeLong test was used to assess the differences in the AUC values of the different models, and the clinical benefit of each model was assessed using the decision curve (DCA), and the predictive accuracy of the model was assessed using the calibration curve (CCA)., Results: Among the constructed models for classification of breast phyllodes tumors, the fusion model (AUC: 0.97) had the best diagnostic efficacy and highest clinical benefit. The traditional radiomics model (AUC: 0.81) had better diagnostic efficacy compared with subregion radiomics model (AUC: 0.70). De-Long test, there is a statistical difference between the fusion model traditional radiomics model, and subregion radiomics model in the training group. Among the models constructed to distinguish phyllodes tumors from fibroadenomas in the breast, the TDT&#95;CIDL model (AUC: 0.974) had the best predictive efficacy and the highest clinical benefit. Ternary copper indium sulfide (CIS) quantum dots (QDs) have been emerging as attractive alternatives to Cd- and Pb-based QDs in various applications owing to their favorable optical properties and low toxicity. However, methods allowing continuous production of CIS QDs in an easy-to-perform and/or organic-solvent-free way are yet to be realized. Here, we report a facile, rapid, continuous, and aqueous synthetic approach for CIS QDs based on a microwave-assisted microfluidic (MAM) technique with easy scale-up of production. Typically, CIS QDs and CIS@ZnS QDs are continuously produced with a flow rate of 30 mL h -1 at a moderate temperature (∼95 °C) in an open-air system with a continuous flow of water as the reaction medium. This continuous synthesis process circumvents the requirements of batch operation, a degassed/inert atmosphere, high temperatures, organic solvents, and complex/expensive equipment. The resulting water-soluble CIS@ZnS QDs show a photoluminescence quantum yield of 44%. This work provides an efficient and green synthetic route for the scalable production of fluorescent nanomaterials.

Terahertz (THz) coherent phonons have emerged as promising candidates for the next generation of high-speed, low-energy information carriers in atomically thin phononic or phonon-integrated on-chip devices. However, effectively manipulating THz coherent phonons remains a significant challenge. In this study, we investigated THz coherent phonon generation in exfoliated van der Waals (vdW) flakes of Fe 3 GeTe 2 , Fe 5 GeTe 2 , and FePS 3 . We successfully generated the THz A 1g coherent phonon mode in these vdW flakes. An innovative approach involved partially exfoliating vdW flakes on a gold substrate and partially on a silicon (Si) substrate to compare the THz coherent phonon generation between both sides. Interestingly, we observed a significantly enhanced THz coherent phonon in the vdW/gold area compared with that in the vdW/Si area. Frequency-domain Raman mapping across the vdW flakes corroborated these findings. Numerical simulations further indicated a stronger enhanced surface field in vdW/gold structures than in vdW/Si structures. Consequently, we attribute the observed enhancement in THz coherent phonon generation to the increased surface field on the gold substrate. This enhancement was consistent across the three different vdW materials studied, suggesting the universality of this strategy. Our results hold promise for advancing the design of THz phononic and phonon-integrated devices.

Broadband nanoextinction images recorded in tip-enhanced optical spectroscopy geometry track the 3D topography of a single layer of WS 2 on Au substrate. The described nano-optical method is complementary to conventional atomic force microscopy and offers additional information about the buried material-metal interface that is not accessible using conventional topographic imaging. Beyond 3D optical imaging, we observe large variations in the junction plasmon resonance on the nanoscale. The latter is important to understand and account for in tip-enhanced Raman and photoluminescence studies that target low-dimensional materials specifically. Our observations and (coherent) optical scattering-based method are also relevant to emerging efforts aimed at exploring strong coupling and Fano interferences in hybrid plasmonic-low dimensional quantum material systems.

Ferroelectricity in metal-free perovskites (MFPs) has emerged as an academic hotspot for their lightweight, eco-friendly processability, flexibility, and degradability, with considerable progress including large spontaneous polarization, high Curie temperature, large piezoelectric response, and tailoring coercive field. However, their equivalent polarization axes as a key indicator are far from enough, although multiaxial ferroelectrics are highly preferred for performance output and application flexibility that profit from as many equivalent polarization directions as possible with easier reorientation. Here, by implementing the synergistic overlap of regulating anionic geometries (from spherical I - to octahedral [PF 6 ] - and to tetrahedral [ClO 4 ] - or [BF 4 ] - ) and cationic asymmetric modification, we successfully designed multiaxial MFP ferroelectrics CMDABCO-NH 4 -X 3 (CMDABCO = N -chloromethyl- N '-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octonium; X = [ClO 4 ] - or [BF 4 ] - ) with the lowest P 1 symmetry. More impressively, systemic characterizations indicate that they possess 24 equivalent polarization axes (Aizu notations of 432F1 and m 3̅ m F1, respectively)─the maximum number achievable for ferroelectrics. Benefiting from the multiaxial feature, CMDABCO-NH 4 -[ClO 4 ] 3 has been demonstrated to have excellent piezoelectric sensing performance in its polycrystalline sample and prepared composite device. Our study provides a feasible strategy for designing multiaxial MFP ferroelectrics and highlights their great promise for use in microelectromechanical, sensing, and body-compatible devices.

Molecular ferroelectrics have made breakthrough progress in intrinsic piezoelectric response that can be on par with advanced inorganic piezoelectric ceramics. However, their successful applications in high-density energy harvesting and self-powered flexible devices have been great challenge, owing to the low elastic moduli, intrinsically brittle, and fracture proneness of such material systems under mechanical loading. Here, we have developed a flexible porous composite piezoelectric material by using soft thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and molecular ferroelectric materials. Benefiting from the porous structure of TPU, the flexible piezoelectric composites enable effectively large doping ratio (50%) of [Me 3 NCH 2 Cl]CdCl 3 (TMCM-CdCl 3 ) and highly efficient stress absorption, coupled with the excellent piezoelectric properties of TMCM-CdCl 3 , to realize a superior power density (636.9 µW cm -2 or 1273.9 µW cm -3 ). This output is 2000 times higher than that of flexible piezoelectric materials represented by poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF). This review summarizes the progress in the research on polyoxometalate (POM)-decorated gold (Au) and silver (Ag) core-shell structures (Au/Ag@POMs), emphasizing their substantial application potential in catalysis, medicine, and biology. It outlines the central strategies for fabricating Au/Ag@POMs with diverse morphologies and dimensions, leveraging POMs as protective ligands and reducing agents as well as for ligand exchange. Of particular note is the focus on the analysis of the nanoparticle size, shape, and intricate architecture of POM shells using cryo-electron microscopy techniques. By integrating recent findings on atomically precise POM-stabilized nanoclusters, this review delves deeper into understanding surface interface structures, intrinsic atomic architectures, and electronic interactions between POM shells and metallic cores. Collectively, advancements in this field underscore significant strides in the controllable synthesis and precise structural manipulation of Au/Ag@POM architectures, thus paving the way for engineering high-performance metal catalysts.
