Abstract Background Long non-coding RNAs (LncRNAs) have been implicated as critical regulators of cancer tumorigenesis and progression. However, their functions and molecular mechanisms in colorectal cancer (CRC) still remain to be further elucidated. Methods LINC00460 was identified by differential analysis between human CRC and normal tissues and verified by in situ hybridization (ISH) and qRT-PCR. We investigated the biological functions of LINC00460 in CRC by in vitro and in vivo experiments. We predicted the mechanism and downstream functional molecules of LINC00460 by bioinformatics analysis, and confirmed them by dual luciferase reporter gene assay, RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP), RNA pull-down, etc. Results LINC00460 was found to be significantly overexpressed in CRC and associated with poor prognosis. Overexpression of LINC00460 promoted CRC cell immune escape and remodeled a suppressive tumor immune microenvironment, thereby promoting CRC proliferation and metastasis. Mechanistic studies showed that LINC00460 served as a molecular sponge for miR-186-3p, and then promoted the expressions of MYC, CD47 and PD-L1 to facilitate CRC cell immune escape. We also demonstrated that MYC upregulated LINC00460 expression at the transcriptional level and formed a positive feedback loop. Conclusions The LINC00460/miR-186-3p/MYC feedback loop promotes CRC cell immune escape and subsequently facilitates CRC proliferation and metastasis. Our findings provide novel insight into LINC00460 as a CRC immune regulator, and provide a potential therapeutic target for CRC patients.

Abstract Background Difficult-to-wean patients, typically identified as those failing the initial spontaneous breathing trial (SBT), face elevated mortality rates. Pendelluft, frequently observed in patients experiencing SBT failure, can be conveniently detected through bedside monitoring with electrical impedance tomography (EIT). This study aimed to explore the impact of pendelluft during SBT on difficult-to-wean patients. Methods This retrospective observational study included difficult-to-wean patients undergoing spontaneous T piece breathing, during which EIT data were collected. Pendelluft occurrence was defined when its amplitude exceeded 2.5% of global tidal impedance variation. Physiological parameters during SBT were retrospectively retrieved from the EIT Examination Report Form. Other clinical data including mechanical ventilation duration, length of ICU stay, length of hospital stay, and 28-day mortality were retrieved from patient records in the hospital information system for each subject. Results Pendelluft was observed in 72 (70.4%) of the 108 included patients, with 16 (14.8%) experiencing mortality by day 28. The pendelluft group exhibited significantly higher mortality (19.7% vs. 3.1%, p = 0.035), longer median mechanical ventilation duration [9 (5–15) vs. 7 (5–11) days, p = 0.041] and shorter ventilator-free days at day 28 [18 (4–22) vs. 20 (16–23) days, p = 0.043]. The presence of pendellfut was independently associated with increased mortality at day 28 (OR = 10.50, 95% confidence interval 1.21–90.99, p = 0.033). Conclusions Pendelluft occurred in 70.4% of difficult-to-wean patients undergoing T piece spontaneous breathing. Pendelluft was associated with worse clinical outcomes, including prolonged mechanical ventilation and increased mortality in this population. Our findings underscore the significance of monitoring pendelluft using EIT during SBT for difficult-to-wean patients.

In recent years, the slope of the bottom plate of the underground reservoir in the loose porous medium constructed in the middle and upper reaches of the river is relatively large, which makes the underground water surface incline to a certain slope as a whole, near-horizontal section will appear in front of the underground dam during continuous recharge. Given this situation, the definition and calculation of the characteristic index of the underground reservoir in line with the actual changes are carried out. The characteristic water level of the underground reservoir is defined based on the groundwater surface with a certain slope at the inclined level in the case of the lower dam (single dam) impoundment. The characteristic capacity is calculated through the water level at the typical section defined by the inclined surface. A new set of definition and calculation method based on the characteristic index of the underground reservoir with a dam on the inclined bottom plates is proposed and applied to the Rushan River underground reservoir, which more accurately reflects the water level change and the corresponding actual reservoir capacity during the operation of the underground reservoir. A trans-media vehicle is a new type of equipment that can adapt to two environments, water and air, to maintain optimal hydrodynamic and aerodynamic performance. However, no matter what kind of trans-media vehicle, its dynamics are much more complicated when traversing the interface of the medium, as the parameters are time-varying due to the change in ambient medium and vehicle attitudes. In order to improve the stability and performance of the trans-media vehicle in complex environments, an accurate mathematical model is established to characterize the dynamics of the trans-media vehicle in this process in this study. The time-varying hydrodynamic coefficients with different attitudes or depths are obtained using computational fluid dynamics software. The mathematical model is solved iteratively using a Runge–Kutta solver to calculate the dynamic response. A prototype of trans-media vehicle is fabricated, and motion experiments are performed in the pool. The experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the established model and lay the foundation for further controller design, providing a reference for the dynamic modeling of other similar equipment operating in complex environments. The primary novelty of this study lies in the fact that the established dynamic model considers the complex interaction between the attitude of the trans-media vehicle and the inherent different properties of water and air and utilizes computational fluid dynamics software to accurately obtain time-varying coefficients under different attitudes and depths. This approach not only recognizes the criticality of orientation-dependent hydrodynamic coefficients but also incorporates their temporal variations, which were often overlooked in previous studies.

Abstract Background Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common malignancies in the world. This study proposes to reveal prognostic biomarkers for the prognosis and treatment of CRC patients. Methods Differential analysis of OSBPL3 was performed in pan-cancer, and the correlation between clinical stage and OSBPL3 was analyzed. Multiple omics analysis was used to compare the relationship between survival of patients and copy number variation, single nucleotide variant, and methylation status. Survival differences between high and low OSBPL3 expression groups were analyzed. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between high and low OSBPL3 expression groups were obtained, and functional enrichment analysis was implemented. Correlations between immune cells and OSBPL3 was analyzed. Drug sensitivity between the two OSBPL3 expression groups was compared. Moreover, the expression of OSBPL3 was verified by immunohistochemistry and real-time quantitative PCR. Results OSBPL3 was differentially expressed in 13 tumors and had some correlations with T and N stages. OSBPL3 expression was regulated by methylation and higher OSBPL3 expression was associated with poorer prognosis in CRC. 128 DEGs were obtained and they were mainly involved in signaling receptor activator activity, aspartate and glutamate metabolism. T cell gamma delta and T cell follicular helper were significantly different in the high and low OSBPL3 expression groups. Moreover, OSBPL3 showed negative correlations with multiple drugs. OSBPL3 was significantly upregulated in CRC samples compared to normal samples. Conclusions A comprehensive analysis demonstrated that OSBPL3 had potential prognostic value, and guiding significance for CRC chemotherapeutic.

To solve the problem of imperfect flash flood warning indicators in mountainous watersheds, this study proposes a conversion method of critical rainfall for different warning periods on the basis of the existing stormwater calculation formulae and applies it to typical mountainous watersheds. The specific method is to use the multiplicative power function method to interpolate and extend the early warning indicators of other time periods through the known early warning indicators of some time periods, apply them to Hengmiao Village and Gaolou Village, typical disaster prevention objects in Qufu City, Shandong Province, China, and verify the rationality of the results. The results show that the multiplicative power function method interpolates and extends the early warning indexes of 0.5, 1, 3, 6, 12, and 24 h under the same soil moisture condition. Based on the historical actual mountain flood disaster rainfall, the correlation coefficient R2 and Nash coefficient Ens are calculated to be 0.85 and 0.86, respectively, which verifies the applicability of this method. This study provides a convenient and quick way to unify the time series of regional early warning indicators and a feasible way for other regions to study regional overall early warning. Flash flood disaster is one of the important natural disasters, bringing harm to human life and causing serious economic losses, so it is urgent to improve the accuracy of flash flood warning. To determine the critical rainfall and early warning indicators of disaster prevention objects, the Shuyuan Watershed of Qufu City Shandong Province was selected as the research object, the key disaster prevention objects were screened and finally, Hengmiao Village and Gaolou Village were selected as typical disaster prevention objects. Empirical analysis method, Storm analysis method, and model analysis method were used to calculate the critical rainfall at different times under different soil water content conditions, compare and analyze the rationality and existing problems of these three methods, and comprehensively determine the indicators of typical disaster prevention objects under different circumstances. The results show that the value of the index calculated by the storm analysis method is small and calculated by the model analysis method is large. This paper can improve the accuracy of flash flood warning, select the critical rainfall calculation method according to local conditions, accurately calculate the parameter values, and deal with the problem of effective early warning in the region as a whole. HIGHLIGHT In this paper, the accuracy of flash flood warning can be improved, the critical rainfall calculation method can be selected according to local conditions, the parameter value can be calculated accurately, the regional overall effective early warning problem can be dealt with, and the early warning index of disaster prevention object can be comprehensively determined by different methods.;

ObjectiveDespite its frequency and associated negative effect, delirium remains poorly recognized in postoperative patients after ICU admission, especially among those who have undergone cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass. Postoperative delirium is triggered by a wide variety of acute medical conditions associated with impaired neuronal network connectivity. The lack of objective biomarkers primarily hinders the early detection of delirium. Seeking early biomarkers for tracking POD could potentially assist in predicting the onset of delirium and assessing the severity of delirium and response to interventions.MethodsQEEGs were taken from 46 sedated postoperative patients, with 24 of them having undergone cardiac surgery. The assessment of delirium was performed twice daily using the Confusion Assessment Method for the ICU (CAM-ICU) to screen for postoperative delirium (POD). QEEG data were interpreted clinically by neurophysiologists and processed by open-source EEGLAB to identify features in patients who had or did not have POD after cardiac or non-cardiac surgery.ResultsThe incidence of delirium in patients after undergoing cardiac surgery was nine times greater than in those after non-cardiac surgeries (41.7% vs. 4.5%; p = 0.0046). Patients with delirium experienced longer use of mechanical ventilation (118 h (78,323) compared to 20 h (18,23); p < 0.0001) and an extended ICU length of stay (7 days (6, 20) vs. 2 days (2, 4); p < 0.0001). The depth of anesthesia, as measured by RASS scores (p = 0.3114) and spectral entropy (p = 0.1504), showed no significant difference. However, notable differences were observed between delirious and non-delirious patients in terms of the amplitude-integrated EEG (aEEG) upper limit, the relative power of the delta band, and spectral edge frequency 95 (SEF95) (p = 0.0464, p = 0.0417, p = 0.0337, respectively).ConclusionIn a homogenous population of sedated postoperative patients, robust qEEG parameters strongly correlate with delirium and could serve as valuable biomarkers for early detection of delirium and assist in clinical decision-making.

Background Immunotherapy, including adoptive cell therapy (ACT) and immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), has a limited effect in most patients with colorectal cancer (CRC), and the efficacy is further limited in patients with liver metastasis. Lack of antitumor lymphocyte infiltration could be a major cause, and there remains an urgent need for more potent and safer therapies for CRC.Methods In this study, the antitumoral synergism of low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) combined with immunotherapy in the microsatellite stable (MSS) highly aggressive murine model of CRC was fully evaluated.Results Dual LMWH and ACT objectively mediated the stagnation of tumor growth and inhibition of liver metastasis, neither LMWH nor ACT alone had any antitumoral activity on them. The combination of LMWH and ACT obviously increased the infiltration of intratumor CD8+ T cells, as revealed by multiplex immunohistochemistry, purified CD8+ T-cell transfer assay, and IVIM in vivo imaging. Mechanistically, evaluation of changes in the tumor microenvironment revealed that LMWH improved tumor vascular normalization and facilitated the trafficking of activated CD8+ T cells into tumors. Similarly, LMWH combined with anti-programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) therapy provided superior antitumor activity as compared with the single PD-1 blockade in murine CT26 tumor models.Conclusions LMWH could enhance ACT and ICIs-based immunotherapy by increasing lymphocyte infiltration into tumors, especially cytotoxic CD8+ T cells. These results indicate that combining LMWH with an immunotherapy strategy presents a promising and safe approach for CRC treatment, especially in MSS tumors.

Geomembrane relaxation can effectively prevent the geomembrane from being damaged by tensile stresses caused by temperature changes and uneven settlement of the foundation. Existing and commonly used reservation methods, such as wave-shaped, groove-shaped, and Z-shaped techniques, are unidirectional and cannot resist multidirectional tensile stresses in geomembranes. Therefore, we propose three methods for reserving bidirectional geomembranes, including the cross-groove-shaped, cross-Z-shaped, and combined Z- and groove-shaped techniques. Additionally, we investigate the key issues of these methods and their practicality through field tests and theoretical analyses. The results of the study show that the cross-groove-shaped technique is prone to geomembrane folding at the corners of the cross-intersection, and it is necessary to set a wiping angle of approximately 35° to solve the problem. The cross-Z-shaped technique does not require grooving and reduces the amount of civil construction performed. However, the neoprene rods cannot be folded 180° or restored after being separated once. The combined Z- and groove-shaped technique has no folding phenomenon and does not require 180° of folding. With a lack of folding, including 180° folding, the number of grooves can be reduced by half, but the cross-Z-shaped specimen cannot be restored after separation. In practical applications, it is recommended to use the cross-groove-shaped method or to choose a suitable bidirectional reservation method according to the actual requirements.

Hypoxemia was a very common symptom in critical patients and should be treated immediately before resulting in permanent organ failure. Rapid diagnosis of the etiology of hypoxemia could be achieved by combining the use of various bedside and radiation-free techniques such as lung ultrasound, electrical impedance tomography and echocardiography. By presenting a case of serious acute refractory hypoxemia, we proposed an efficient protocol for diagnosing and treating hypoxemia in a safe and fast way.

BackgroundSexual dysfunction is a common symptom in patients with schizophrenia, especially in chronically medicated patients. However, the relationship between sexual dysfunction and emotional response to sexual arousal in male patients with schizophrenia remains unclear. This study aimed to assess the incidence, risk factors of sexual dysfunction in males, and their clinical correlations to sexual arousal in male patients with schizophrenia in China.MethodsA total of 162 male patients, aged 18–50 years, with schizophrenia were recruited from a psychiatric hospital in Ganzhou. The clinical symptoms were assessed by the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS). The Arizona Sexual Experience Scale was utilized to evaluate sexual dysfunction. Erotic images were selected from International Affective Picture System (IAPS). Sixty-eight out of the 162 subjects completed the erotic pictures reactivity task.ResultsOverall, 48 (29.6%) patients were measured as having global sexual dysfunction, 72 (44.4%) patients as having strength of sex drive dysfunction, 51 (31.5%) patients as having sexual arousal dysfunction, 55 (34.0%) patients as having penile erection dysfunction, 60 (37.0%) patients as having reached orgasm dysfunction, and 60 (37.0%) patients as having satisfaction with orgasm dysfunction. The sexual dysfunction patients had significantly higher scores on the negative symptoms of the PANSS. The only important predictor of sexual dysfunction was the severity of PANSS negative factor. The sense of pleasure and arousal post viewing erotic images in the sexual dysfunction group were lower compared to the non-sexual dysfunction group. The sense of pleasure and approach motivation were significantly negatively correlated with the severity of sexual dysfunction.ConclusionsThis study shows that nearly one-third of young and middle-aged chronically medicated male inpatients with schizophrenia suffer from sexual dysfunction. The negative factor of the PANSS can be regarded as the risk factor of sexual dysfunction. Schizophrenia patients with sexual dysfunction experienced lower pleasure and higher avoidance motivation than non-sexual dysfunction patients when exposed to erotic stimuli.

Abstract Purpose Glove single-port laparoscopy-assisted transanal total mesorectal excision (TaTME) has been successfully carried out in our medical center. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of this emerging operation. Methods This technique was performed by self-made glove single-port laparoscopic platform to radically resect low rectal cancer. Short-term postoperative results, including complications, length of hospital stay, and follow-up results were collected and analyzed statistically. Results There are five consecutive patients (three males, two females) who underwent this surgery and included in this study. The mean distance from the tumor to the anal verge was 4.8 cm (range 4.0–6.0). The surgery was completed in all cases, and the rectal tumor was removed successfully without conversion; circumferential margins of all the excised specimens were negative. The mean time of operation was 338.00 min (range 280–400). The average number of lymph node dissection was 12.20. The average postoperative hospital stay was 8.60 days. During the follow-up (14.80 ± 1.92 months), all preventive ileostomies were successfully closed in about 3 months after the surgery, all patients had satisfactory anal function, and no tumor recurrence was found. Conclusion Glove single-port laparoscopy-assisted TaTME has a significant effect in specific patients with low rectal cancer, with rapid recovery and high safety. Prospective randomized studies involving more case counts and long-term follow-up results, especially oncologic outcomes, are needed to validate this technique.

Background: The long-term prognosis of current treatments for anal sphincter incontinence (ASI) is poor. Here, we explored the efficacy of tissue adipose stromal vascular fraction SVF (tSVF) on ASI and compared it to that of cellular SVF (cSVF). We then investigated possible mechanisms. Methods: Rat cSVF and tSVF were isolated and labeled with DIL. One day after modeling, three groups received phosphate-buffered saline (PBS), cSVF, tSVF, respectively. The control group received nil modeling nor any treatments. The effect was assessed by function test for anal pressure and electromyography, and staining for fiber content, proliferation and differentiation at day 5 and day 10. Results: cSVF injection resulted in faster healing than tSVF. The cSVF group showed significant improvement on anal pressure on day 10. For the electromyography test, cSVF showed significant improvement for the frequencies on day 10, and for the peak values on both time points, while tSVF showed significant improvement for the peak values on day 10. The two SVF both alleviated fibrosis. Immunofluorescence tracing identified differentiation of some injected cells towards myosatellite cells and smooth muscle cells in both SVF groups. For all the tests, the tSVF group tends to have similar or lower effects than the cSVF group with no significant difference. Conclusion: cSVF and tSVF are both safe and effective in treating ASI, while the effect of cSVF is slighter higher than tSVF.

Background: Anal sphincter incontinence (ASI) can cause a serious decline in the quality of life and can cause a socioeconomic burden. Studies have shown that bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) have significant therapeutic effects on ASI, but the cost and risk of MSC harvest limit their further application. In contrast, adipose tissue derived stem cells (ADSC) and cellular stromal vascular fraction (CSVF) as stem cell sources have multipotency and the advantage of easy harvest. Objective: Here we aim to investigate the effects of ADSC and CSVF on treating ASI and compare them to that of bone marrow MSC. Methods: Bone marrow MSC, ADSC, and CSVF were obtained and labeled with green fluorescent protein (GFP), and CSVF was labeled with DIL. Sprague Dawley (SD) rats were divided into 5 groups. Four groups were injected with 0.2 mL phosphate buffer saline (PBS), 1 × 107/0.2 mL of MSC, ADSC, or CSVF, respectively, after model establishment. The control group received no treatment. The repair was assessed by anal functional tests and immunostaining on day 5 and day 10 after injection. Results: MSC, ADSC, and CSVF significantly promoted tissue repair and the recovery of muscle contraction and electromyographic activity in ASI. The generation of myosatellite cells by injected MSC, ADSC, and CSVF was found in the wounded area. On day 5, CSVF showed highest therapeutic effect, while on day 10, MSC and ADSC showed higher therapeutic effects than CSVF. When comparing the effects of MSC and ADSC, ADSC was slightly better than MSC in the indexes of anal pressure, etc. Conclusion: ADSC and CVSF are alternative stem cell sources for ASI repair.

Abstract Background Weaning post-cardiac surgery patients from mechanical ventilation (MV) poses a big challenge to these patients. Optimized left ventricular-arterial coupling (VAC) may be crucial for reducing the MV duration of these patients. However, there is no research exploring the relationship between VAC and the duration of MV. We performed this study to investigate the relationship between left ventricular-arterial coupling (VAC) and prolonged mechanical ventilation (MV) in severe post-cardiac surgery patients. Methods This was a single-center retrospective study of 56 severe post-cardiac surgery patients from January 2015 to December 2017 at the Department of Critical Care Medicine of Peking Union Medical College Hospital. Patients were divided into two groups according to the duration of MV (PMV group: prolonged mechanical ventilation group, MV > 6 days; Non-PMV group: non-prolonged mechanical ventilation group, MV ≤ 6 days). Hemodynamics and tissue perfusion data were collected or calculated at admission (T0) and 48 h after admission (T1) to the ICU. Results In terms of hemodynamic and tissue perfusion data, there were no differences between the two groups at admission (T0). Compared with the non-prolonged MV group after 48 h in the ICU (T1), the prolonged MV group had significantly higher values for heart rate (108 ± 13 vs 97 ± 12, P = 0.018), lactate (2.42 ± 1.24 vs.1.46 ± 0.58, P

Background: The outbreak of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has brought serious psychological pressure to people, especially medical health staff. At present, there are few studies on insomnia and related factors of medical health staff in the middle and late stage of the epidemic of COVID-19. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of insomnia and its related risk factors among medical workers in China in the middle and later stage of COVID-19 epidemic, as well as the relationship between insomnia and psychological resilience.Methods: From February 14 to March 29, 2020, a cross-sectional survey was conducted among 606 medical staff in China through Ranxing Technology's “SurveyStar” network platform. All subjects were assessed with the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) and simplified Chinese version of Connor-Davidson Resilience scale (CD-RISC-10).Results: In the middle and later stages of the COVID-19 outbreak, the incidence of insomnia among medical staff was 32.0%. Compared with non-insomnia group, the insomnia group had younger age, lower education level, longer daily working hours and less psychological resilience. In addition, the prevalence of insomnia was higher in medical staff with a history of somatic diseases. The severity of insomnia of Chinese medical staff was associated with age, education level, daily working hours, psychological resilience and somatic diseases.Conclusions: Our study shows that nearly 1/3 of Chinese medical workers suffer from insomnia nearly a month after the COVID-19 outbreak. Compared with the general population, medical staff who are working with COVID are more prone to insomnia. Risk factors for insomnia include younger age, lower education level, longer working hours per day, and physical illness. The tenacious dimension of psychological resilience is a protective factor for insomnia.

Abstract Genome-scale CRISPR-Cas9 Knockout Screening was applied to investigate novel targets in imatinib-resistant gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). 20 genes and 2 miRNAs have been selected by total reads of sgRNA and sgRNA diversity, which has been further validated in imatinib-resistant GIST cells by CCK8 and qPCR analysis. Our study has finally revealed 9 genes (DBP, NR3C1, TCF12, TP53, ZNF12, SOCS6, ZFP36, ACYP1, and DRD1) involved in imatinib-resistant GIST-T1 cells. TP53 and SOCS6 may be the most promising candidate genes for imatinib-resistance due to the possible signaling pathway, such as apoptosis pathway and Wnt signaling pathway, JAK-STAT signaling pathway. It is necessary to perform more studies to discover novel targets in imatinib-resistant GIST, including DBP, NR3C1, TCF12, ZNF12, ZFP36, ACYP1 and DRD1.

The aim of this study is to investigate the expression of AP-4, VEGF, and MMP-9 genes in human colorectal cancer. The expression pattern of activator protein-4 in 160 colorectal cancer compared with 32 colorectal adenomas and 32 normal colorectal tissues is demonstrated by tissue microarray-immunohistochemistry and real-time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction. Apoptosis status using terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick-end labeling by comparing activator protein-4 positive versus activator protein-4 negative colorectal cancer is also assessed. The messenger RNA levels of vascular endothelial growth factor and matrix metalloproteinase-9 expression in activator protein-4 positive and negative colorectal cancer were measured using real-time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction. The activator protein-4 expression in normal colorectal tissue, adenoma, and adenocarcinoma were 4 of 32, 8 of 32, and 78 of 160, respectively. It is shown that the activator protein-4 expression was significantly correlated with the progression of colorectal cancer (P < .01) and differentiation and lymph node metastasis (P < .01). A groundwater function evaluation systems and associated model was applied to Pingtan Island in China, to support future development, use and protection of groundwater. Groundwater function was assigned to resource, ecology and geological environmental functions, and then further sub-divided, based on hydrogeological conditions, development status, planning and Chine policy requirements. At the same time, it is the first time to try to apply the technical requirements for the division of groundwater resources in island areas. According to the planning and utilization of groundwater resources in Pingtan Island, established a second-level system of shallow groundwater function zoning. Then, by comparing the strong and weak relationships among the groundwater resource function, ecology function, and geological environment function, developed a scoring system of the shallow groundwater function zoning. The division of shallow groundwater function zones in Pingtan Island was finally carried out. The zoning result will play an essential role in the future development, utilization, and protection of groundwater in Pingtan Island. At the same time, it provides the first example for the application of groundwater function zoning in island areas and improves the theoretical results of groundwater function zoning.

Infiltration and anti-filtration recharge-pumping wells (hereinafter, referred to as IAF recharge-pumping wells) can enable rain-flood flowing in rivers or channel recharge to aquifers, in flood periods, and pump groundwater to be utilized in non-flood periods. In this study, a round IAF recharge-pumping well and a square IAF recharge-pumping well were developed, the structure and characteristic were introduced, the calculation equations of single-well recharge quantity of IAF recharge-pumping wells, in unconfined aquifers were deduced, and the steady-state flow recharge test was conducted in the laboratory. The conclusions were as follows. The theoretical equation of the single-well recharge quantity was reasonable. Compared to existing anti-filtration recharge wells, the new IAF recharge-pumping well had stronger anti-deposit and anti-scour abilities and the single-well recharge quantity increased by 400%. Compared to the square IAF recharge-pumping well, the round IAF recharge-pumping well had a better inlet flow pattern and a larger single-well recharge quantity. With an increase in the test times, the single-well recharge quantity gradually decreased and tended to be stable. The existence of the pumping pipe had a little influence on the single-well recharge quantity.

Objective: Cognitive impairments are common in Parkinson’s disease (PD) and can even occur in the early stages. The default mode network (DMN) is highly relevant for cognitive processes; however, it remains largely unknown if changes in the DMN connectivity are related to the cognitive decline in drug-naïve early-stage PD patients with a mild cognitive impairment (MCI). This study used resting-state functional MRI (fMRI) to explore the brain connectivity of the DMN in early-stage drug-naïve PD patients with MCI.Method: We recruited 32 early-stage drug-naïve PD patients and 22 matched healthy controls (HC). Among the PD patients, 14 were classified as having MCI (PD-MCI) and 18 were classified as having unimpaired cognition (PD-CU). The functional integration of the DMN was evaluated by a seed-based correlation approach.Results: The brain connectivity analysis revealed reduced functional connectivity (FC) in both PD subgroups compared with HC. The PD-MCI group showed a significant reduction in FC between the DMN and a set of regions, including the precentral gyrus, middle temporal gyrus, insula, anterior inferior parietal lobule and middle frontal gyrus. Compared to the PD-CU group, the PD-MCI group demonstrated a significantly decreased FC in the middle frontal and middle temporal gyri. Additionally, compared to HC, the PD-MCI group had a significantly decreased FC within the DMN, mainly in the FC between the hippocampal formation and inferior frontal gyrus, between the posterior cingulate cortex and posterior inferior parietal lobule, and between the anterior temporal lobe and inferior frontal gyrus. Compared to the PD-CU group, the only significantly decreased FC within the DMN in the PD-MCI group was between the anterior temporal lobe and inferior frontal gyrus. In all PD patients, the decreased FC between anterior temporal lobe and middle temporal gyrus was positively correlated with attention/working performance, and the reduced FC between the hippocampal formation and inferior frontal gyrus was also positively correlated with memory function.Conclusions: Our findings suggest that an altered DMN connectivity characterizes PD-MCI patients. These findings may be helpful for facilitating the further understanding of the potential mechanisms underlying MCI in PD. However, our results are preliminary, and further investigation is needed.

Studies have reported that non-motor symptoms are an important component of primary dystonia. However, evidence supporting cognitive impairment in primary dystonia is limited and contradictory.We applied the Chinese version of the Addenbrooke's Cognitive Examination-Revised and the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) to screen for cognitive impairment in patients with primary blepharospasm. In addition, we investigated the relationship between performance on the Addenbrooke's Cognitive Examination-Revised and quality of life as measured by the Medical Outcomes Study 36-item Short-Form (SF36).The study included 68 primary blepharospasm patients and 68 controls matched by age, sex and education. The prevalence of cognitive deficits was 22.0% and 32.3% in primary blepharospasm patients group, as measured by the MMSE and the Addenbrooke's Cognitive Examination-Revised, respectively. Primary blepharospasm patents had a broad range of cognitive deficits, with the most frequently affected domains being visuospatial function (30.9%) and language (30.9%), followed by memory (27.9%), orientation/attention (26.4%) and verbal fluency (22.0%). Patients with cognitive deficits had lower total SF36 scores, especially in the subdomains of physical functioning, role-physical and social functioning, compared to those without cognitive deficits. Scores on the Addenbrooke's Cognitive Examination-Revised were significantly correlated with both the SF36 scores and the scores on the subdomains of physical functioning and social functioning.Some patients with primary blepharospasm have cognitive deficits. Poor performance on the Addenbrooke's Cognitive Examination-Revised is related to poorer quality of life.

Transistors were fabricated based on mechanical exfoliated few layer black phosphorus (BP) flakes, and performance change of these devices exposed to air was explored systematically. BP devices were found to suffer severe performance degradation in ambient conditions, and the field effect mobility drops to less than 1/10 of the original in no more than 120 hours after fabrication. However the current on/off ratio shows completely different time dependent behavior to the published result, i.e. increases with exposure time in air, since the minimum current decreases with exposure time to air, which is probably originated from the decrease of layer number in BP. A model is developed to estimate the bandgap change of BP according to the time dependent minimum current of the BP device.

Objective: To analyze the detection rates of colorectal cancer (CRC) and polyps by population-based screening in Guangzhou., Methods: From January 2011 to December 2015, the residents aged 30-79 were selected for CRC screening. The residents were conducted Questionnaires and/or FOBT to assess high-risk groups, the free colonoscopy examination was recommended, and the results were evaluated in detail., Results: There were 98 927 residents involving screening, 5306 high-risk residents identified (males 1859 and females 3447), and 4713 subjects underwent colonoscopy (males 1690 and females 3023). CRC was seen in 55 individuals (males 28 and females 27), and the detection rates in male were higher than in female (P = 0.019). And the detection rates increasing with age, for people over 60 years old, were obviously higher than those younger (x 2  = 18.64, P = 0.000924). The polyps were seen in 1458 (30.94%) cases， and 1420 subjects received pathological examination (adenomas 971 and non-adenomatous polyps 449). Advanced adenomas were seen in 462 cases (males 240 and females 222) and 509 cases of non-advanced adenomas (males 255 and females 254). For advanced adenomas, the detection rates in male were higher than female (14.20% vs 7.34%, P = 2.64 × 10 -14 ). For the detection rates of adenomas or advanced adenomas by age, the people over 40 years were higher than younger (20.91% vs 3.61% P = 7.87 × 10 -6 ; 9.94% vs 2.41%, P = 0.009)., Conclusions: For Guangzhou residents, the detection rates of CRC and adenoma were 1.17% and 20.60%. The detection rates of CRC increasing with age, for people over 60 years old, were obviously higher than those younger. But for people over 40 years, the detection rate of adenoma and advanced adenoma was higher than younger. So for people over 40 years, the CRC screening is recommended., (© 2019 The Authors. Transcription factor activating enhancer binding protein 4 (TFAP4) is an important regulator in the genesis and progression of human cancers. Overexpression of TFAP4 has been found to be correlated with several malignancies. The present study assessed the clinical importance of TFAP4 in colorectal cancer (CRC). First, immunohistochemistry was used to analyze TFAP4 expression and the association of TFAP4 expression with clinicopathological features on a tissue microarray containing 208 CRC patients. The results revealed that TFAP4 protein expression was significantly upregulated in CRC tissues compared with that in normal colon tissues (P<0.001). Of note, statistical analysis revealed that TFAP4 expression was significantly correlated with a high pathological grade (P=0.034), advanced clinical stage (P=0.024), enhanced tumor invasion (P=0.002) and lymph node metastasis (P=0.041). In addition, the Cancer Genome Atlas dataset further validated that TFAP4 mRNA levels were increased in CRC with advanced clinical stage (P=0.026), lymph node metastasis (P=0.018) and vascular invasion (P=0.046). Kaplan-Meier survival analysis demonstrated that CRC patients with high TFAP4 expression had shorter overall survival compared with those with low TFAP4 expression (P=0.011). Importantly, overexpression of TFAP4 was a valuable independent prognostic factor for CRC patients (hazard ratio, 8.200; 95% confidence interval, 1.838-36.591; P=0.006). In summary, TFAP4 may have an important role in CRC progression and upregulation of TFAP4 may be a predictor of poor prognosis for CRC patients.

A novel method to indicate the degree of chirality in polyaniline (PANI) was developed. The (D-camphorsulfonic acid)- and (HCl)-PANI-based electrodes exhibited significantly different electrochemical performances in D- and L-Alanine (Ala) aqueous solution, respectively, which can be used for the characterization the optical activity of chiral PANI. Cyclic voltammogram, tafel, and open circuit potential of PANI-based electrodes were measured within D- and L-Ala electrolyte solution, respectively. The open circuit potentials under different reacting conditions were analyzed by Doblhofer model formula, in which [C(+)](poly1)/[C(+)](poly2) was used as a parameter to characterize the degree of chirality in chiral PANI. The results showed that [C(+)](poly1)/[C(+)](poly2) can be increased with increasing concentrations of (1S)-(+)- and (1R)-(-)-10-camphorsulfonic acid.
