This set of activities is designed to bring water resource education into the middle school classroom using an interdisciplinary approach. The packet contains timely, localized information about the water resources of west central Florida. Each activity is aligned to middle-school Sunshine State Standards. These hands-on, minds-on activities can be used alone or together as a ready-made team project. Each activity includes introductory information, learning goals, subject disciplines covered, and standards met along with necessary materials and activity descriptions. Many also have activity extensions. Students design a new Florida town that balances economic and environmental consequences, build models of wetlands and the hydrologic cycle, write stories tracing the journey of a water drop through the hydrologic cycle, and design landscapes using drought-tolerant plants and principles. A special packet of fact sheets on Florida's endangered species and their wetland habitat includes a memory game. Other activities address water needed for growing food, home water use, water preservation in Florida, and desalination plants. Individual fact sheets offer water-conservation tips and discuss the history of Florida wetlands. Tree species mixing of oak (Quercus petraea (Matt.) Liebl./Quercus robur L.) and pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) has been shown to have positive effects on ecosystem service provision. From a management perspective, however, it is still uncertain which thinning regime provides the highest possible productivity of mixed oak–pine forests in the long term. Because of a lack of empirical studies dealing with thinning and species mixing effects on oak–pine forests, we simulated forest growth in order to test which thinning type and intensity may provide the highest productivity in the long-term. To achieve this, we simulated the growth of pure and mixed stands of oak and pine for 100 years in 23 triplets located on an ecological gradient across Europe. For this purpose, we applied four different growth simulators and compared their results: the distance-independent single-tree simulator PROGNAUS, the distance-dependent single-tree simulator SILVA, the gap model ForCEEPS, and the process-based simulator 3D-CMCC-FEM. We investigated the effects of species mixing and thinning from the upper (thinning from above) and lower tail (thinning from below) of the diameter distribution by reducing the stand basal area to 50 and 80% of the maximum basal area. We compared simulated results of the relative volume productivity of mixed versus pure stands and of thinned versus unthinned stands to empirical results previously obtained on the same set of triplets. Simulated relative volume productivity ranged between 61 and 156%, although extremes of 10% and of 300% could be observed. We found the relative volume productivity to be influenced by stand age, but not by stand density, except for PROGNAUS. Relative volume productivity did not increase with the site water supply of the triplet location. Highest long-term productivity for oak, pine and oak–pine stands can be expected in consequence of thinning from above, but the effect of thinning intensity differed between simulators. Land supplies multiple goods and services vital to humans and the environment. In the last decades, increasing evidence of growing land degradation are made apparent. A limited and depleting resource base, the reliance on climate-sensitive sectors and its large population, make South Asia highly vulnerable to climate change. Observed changes in climate include increases in temperature and increased monsoon variability and rainfall pattern leading to drought and flooding. Projected changes include increasing temperatures, rising sea levels, increasing cyclonic activity and higher variability of rainfall, all having enormous impacts on farming communities. At the same time, the region is rich in traditional agricultural knowledge (TAK), specialized in managing local agroecosystems to ensure food availability, tackling climatic risks and other ecological uncertainties. Particularly relevant is TAK related to land management to preserve soil fertility and avoid soil erosion. Ethnographic research is a valuable source of TAK, although this is rarely analysed with a climate change perspective. Based on a qualitative systematic review, and an expert's on-line survey, in this paper we review land management TAK and assess its potential for climate change adaptation. The review shows there is a vast amount of untapped TAK ethnographic research with potential for climate change adaptation.

This article analyzes the retrospective of the formation, development and reformation of the tax system of Ukraine, which gradually formed under the influence of many external and internal factors during the period of independence. The authors attempted to solve an important scientific problem — to find out the peculiarities of the current stage of the evolution of the taxation system in Ukraine in the context of the need for the continuation of liberal tax reform and taking into account the best international experience of reformist actions in the field of taxation. As a result of the study, author's periodization of the development of the tax system of Ukraine was proposed based on the definition of the essential features and characteristics of each stage: the formation of the domestic tax system of the quasi-liberal type; formation of a rigid (repressive) model of the tax system with the elements of force pressure; stages of improvement and institutionalization of the tax system of Ukraine. The article also focuses on the subjective-psychological dimension of the theory and practice of taxation, the study of which was initiated by the Austrian neo-liberal economic school. Taking into account the subjective assessments of taxpayers regarding the forms and methods of taxation, the state of tax administration, etc. substantially modifies the established approaches to the construction of the tax system. At the same time, it is indicated the congruence of certain elements of tax reform in Ukraine and the EU countries in the context of European integration. The authors establish a key qualitative feature of the domestic tax system — its quasi-liberalism, reveal the content of recent changes in taxation, and outline the future prospects for the development of the tax system in the context of the neoliberal theory., Проанализируем ретроспективу становления, развития и реформирования налоговой системы Украины за время независимости. Предложена периодизация развития налоговой системы Украины на основе определения сущностных черт и особенностей каждого из этапов. Акцентируем внимание на субъективно-психологическом измерении налогообложения, которое существенно модифицирует устоявшиеся подходы к построению налоговой системы. Указано на конгруэнтность отдельных элементов налогового реформирования в Украине и странах ЕС в контексте евроинтеграции. Авторы устанавливают ключевую качественную особенность отечественной налоговой системы — ее квази-либеральность, раскрывают содержание последних изменений налогообложения и определяют дальнейшие перспективы развития налоговой системы в контексте неолиберальной теории., Проаналізовано ретроспективу становлення, розвитку та реформування податкової системи України, яка поступово формувалася під впливом багатьох зовнішніх та внутрішніх факторів у період незалежності. Автори намагалися вирішити важливу наукову проблему — з’ясувати особливості сучасного етапу еволюції податкової системи в Україні в контексті необхідності продовження ліберальної податкової реформи та врахування найкращого міжнародного досвіду реформаторської діяльності у сфері оподаткування. У результаті дослідження запропоновано авторську періодизацію розвитку податкової системи України на основі визначення сутнісних рис та особливостей кожного з етапів, а саме: формування вітчизняної податкової системи квазі-ліберального типу; формування жорсткої (репресивної) моделі податкової системи з елементами силового тиску; етапів удосконалення та подальшої інституціоналізації податкової системи України. Акцентується увага на суб’єктивно-психологічному вимірі теорії і практики оподаткування, вивчення якої було започатковано австрійською економічною традицією та поглиблено австрійською неоліберальною економічною теорією. З’ясовано, що врахування суб’єктивних оцінок платників податків щодо форм та способів оподаткування, стану адміністрування податків та інших суб’єктивних та індивідуалістичних факторів у практиці господарювання суттєво модифікує усталені підходи до побудови податкової системи і має посприяти відродженню суб’єктивістської традиції в економічній та фінансовій науках. Водночас вказується на конгруентності окремих елементів податкової реформи в Україні та країнах ЄС в контексті європейської інтеграції. Автори встановлюють ключову якісну особливість вітчизняної податкової системи — її квазі-ліберальність, розкривають зміст останніх змін в оподаткуванні та окреслюють подальші перспективи розвитку податкової системи в контексті неоліберальної теорії.

Розглянуто проблему координації матеріальних i фінансових потоків на оборонних підприємствах у виробництві та доставці потрібного обсягу оборонної продукції у встановлені терміни. Мета статті — теоретичне обґрунтування необхідності узгодження певних суперечностей у потокових процесах на підприємствах і розроблення моделі поступової оптимізації матеріальних та пов’язаних з ними фінансових потоків як необхідної умови забезпечення фінансової безпеки підприємств оборонної промисловості.Конфлікт інтересів (суперечності) аналізується щодо проходження матеріальних і пов’язаних із ними фінансових потоків, що відбуваються за чинної системи управління на вітчизняних оборонних підприємствах.Методичною основою дослідження суперечностей потокових процесів підприємства були обрані аналіз і синтез. Економічний потік підприємства умовно розглянуто за характеристиками: обсяг потоку, час потоку і витрати потоку з подальшим урахуванням їхніх характерних якостей, властивостей, взаємозв’язків і суперечностей між ними.Розроблена методика проектування логістичних рішень на підприємстві, яка передбачає здійснення повної оптимізації за допомогою методу компромісу матеріальних і пов’язаних із цим фінансових потоків. Запропонована імітаційна модель була доведена до впровадження програмного забезпечення та була протестована на оборонних машинобудівних підприємствах Києва.Для врегулювання суперечностей, що виникають поетапно, встановлено два параметри (час потоку та обсяг потоку) за критеріями: 1) мінімізація витрат на всіх стадіях потоку; 2) мінімізація періоду оборотності оборотних коштів — доцільно використовувати метод багатокритеріальної оптимізації.Вирішення багатокритеріального завдання оптимізації матеріальних і пов’язаних із цим фінансових потоків на підприємстві базується на використанні методу компромісу, який реалізується на основі моделювальних моделей. The purpose of the article is to theoretically substantiate the need to reconcile certain contradictions in the flow processes at enterprises and to develop a model of end-to-end optimization of material and related financial flows as a prerequisite for ensuring the financial security of defense industry enterprises. The conflicts of interest (contradictions) are analyzed in terms of the passage of material and related financial flows that occur under the existing management system at domestic defense enterprises.Methodical basis for the study of contradictions in the flow processes of the enterprise in this work were selected analysis and synthesis. The economic flow of the enterprise is conditionally considered by the characteristics:, the volume of flow, the time of flow and the cost of flow, with further consideration of their characteristic qualities, properties, relationships and contradictions between them.The technique of designing logistics solutions at the enterprise has been developed, which involves the implementation of end-to-end optimization using the method of compromise of material and related financial flows. The proposed simulation model was brought to software implementation and was tested at the defense machine-building enterprises of Kyiv.In order to solve the contradictions arising in stages, having two parameters (flow time and flow volume) according to the criteria: 1) minimization of costs at all stages of flow flow, 2) minimization of the working capital turnover period — it is advisable to use multicriteria optimization method.The solution of the multicriteria problem of optimization of material and related financial flows at the enterprise is based on the use of the method of compromise, which is implemented on the basis of simulation models. Разработана методика проектирования логистических решений на предприятии, предусматривает осуществление сквозной оптимизации с использованием метода компромисса материальных и сопутствующих финансовых потоков. The study proves the efficiency of using electric separation for extracting the copper concentrate from a crushed mass of basalt, lava-breccia, and tuff after their preliminary magnetic separation. We have determined the preferred particle-size classes (–1.0 +0.63 mm) in the processes of preparing the ore and classifying the components of the basaltic rock mass (from –0.25 +0.05 mm to –1.0 +0.63 mm) before electric separation; the copper concentrate outputs have been specified for basalt, tuff, and lava-breccia with regard to the electric field voltage for different particle-size fractions in the initial product.The undertaken tests have revealed a linear dependence of the native copper output on the electric field voltage of the separator, which must be taken into account while developing the technological scheme of extracting native copper from basaltic raw materials.We have proved that all the three components of the basaltic raw material (basalt, lava-breccia, and tuff) contain some percentage of copper that is of commercial interest. To extract substantial amounts of copper, it is essential to have a specific particle-size composition of the basaltic raw material before feeding it into the electric separator (basalt – 10.370 %, lava-breccia – 5.741 %, and tuff – 4.074 %; thereby, the particle size class of the feedstock is –1.0 +0.63 mm, and the electric field voltage is 30 kW).The obtained findings help develop the basic requirements for industrial tests. It is expedient to carry out more field tests and to create an industrial site for a complex processing of basalt raw materials. The completed study is a necessary element of developing a non-waste technology of processing the basalts of the Rafalovsky basalt quarry in Ukraine. In addition to native copper, these deposits contain such useful components as iron, titanium, manganese, and a silicate part.
