7. All-inorganic perovskite film photodetectors with tailored deposition techniques and component engineering.

Abstract

The burgeoning demand for perovskite-based photodetectors (PDs) in leading sectors can be attributed to their extraordinary stability and superior optoelectronic properties. All-inorganic halide perovskites, in particular, have emerged as the preferred choice for photoactive layers. However, significant obstacles hinder their widespread adoption, such as inadequate crystal quality, inconsistent manufacturing reproducibility, and environmental concerns. This review offers a comprehensive summary of the latest advancements in PD devices utilizing both lead-based and lead-free all-inorganic perovskite films. Special attention is given to material composition, structural and electronic dimensions, and lead-free perovskites (e.g., tin-based, bismuth-based, and copper-based perovskites). Subsequently, we explore various preparation strategies for thin films of inorganic halide perovskites, shedding light on their respective strengths and limitations. Different preparation techniques cater specifically to diverse application requirements, reflecting their unique functional attributes in optoelectronic applications. In conclusion, the review describes the current state and highlights key challenges faced by PD devices based on all-inorganic perovskite films. The comprehensive overview aims to provide researchers with deep insights into the intricacies of these complex devices and the advantages and disadvantages of various preparation methods, thereby guiding future research towards the development of sustainable, low-carbon PD devices. Abstract

Carbon dots (CDs) phosphors in white laser diodes (WLD) have the advantages of sufficient surface functionalization sites and low cost. Specially, their color rendering index (CRI) in WLD is unsatisfactory due to the uncontrollable synthesis process and low thermal stability. Herein, surface nitrogen‐containing groups of CDs are synthesized from phenylenediamine isomers and trimeric acid, and the optical and thermal properties of CDs are modulated by introducing amide bonds (–CONH). By varying the phenylenediamine isomers, CDs synthesized from o‐phenylenediamine, m‐phenylenediamine, and p‐phenylenediamine emit different fluorescence peaks at 534, 498, and 434 nm, respectively. Further investigation shows that the increase of –CONH and adjacent –NH2 favors the reduction of bandgap, which in turn induces redshifted emission. The green‐emitting CDs are also found to be thermally stable at high –CONH contents up to 10.35%. Finally, by assembling the fluorescent film with 450 nm laser diode, WLD with color coordinates of (0.3767, 0.3540), correlated color temperature of 3924 K, and CRI of 87 is realized, and its CRI reaches the advancing value for single phosphors‐based WLD devices. This work will lay the theoretical and experimental foundation for the realization of the low‐cost, high photothermal stability, high‐color‐rendering‐index CDs‐based laser lighting devices. 11. Ordered Phase Distribution of Quasi‐2D Perovskites Controlled by a Supramolecular Approach Enables Efficient Blue Light‐Emitting Diodes.

Abstract

Quasi‐2D perovskites demonstrate exceptional luminescent properties, mainly attributed to heightened radiative recombination facilitated by the energy transfer process among spontaneous quantum‐well structures featuring varied n‐value distributions. However, the rapid crystallization process often induces uncontrolled variations in phase composition, characterized by distinct "n" values, leading to suboptimal energy transfer efficiency. In this study, an innovative supramolecular strategy utilizing cryptand is introduced as an additive to regulate the phase distribution within quasi‐2D perovskite films. Cryptand effectively inhibited the aggregation of PEA+ and the formation of unsaturated Pb‐X coordination compounds, thereby suppressing the generation of low‐"n" phases. This intervention resulted in a continuous series of ordered intermediate phases with higher "n" values. The graded electronic structure facilitated efficient energy transfer from low‐"n" to high‐"n" phases, promoting effective radiation recombination. As a result, the optimized PeLEDs emitting at 490 nm demonstrated a remarkable external quantum efficiency (EQE) enhancement to 10.16%, compared to the reference device with an EQE of 2.33%. The device also exhibited impressive spectral and operational stability. The findings establish a viable strategy for precise phase distribution regulation in quasi‐2D perovskites, offering great potential for high‐performance blue PeLEDs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Self‐powered perovskite photodetectors (PDs) have attracted tremendous interest for their promising advantages such as fast response speed and high detectivity. However, they usually suffer from severe operating instability issues stemming from the poor film quality, impurity phase formation, and numerous surface defects. Herein, the high performance and stable self‐powered PD based on CsPbBr3 film is demonstrated using a multistep spin‐coating method. The annealing temperature of lead bromide (PbBr2) films and the spin‐cycles of cesium bromide (CsBr) are prioritized, which are two key factors for realizing efficient devices during multistep deposition of perovskite films. Results illustrate that these two factors affect the crystallization, covering properties, and the composition of the final film. The CsPbBr3 film prepared from PbBr2 treatment at 100 °C and CsBr spin‐coating for 8‐cycles has full coverage, higher phase purity, larger grain size, higher crystallinity, and fewer defects compared with the other counterparts. Therefore, the self‐powered PD based on optimized CsPbBr3 film achieves an excellent specific detectivity of 7.01 × 1012 Jones at 520 nm at 0 V bias voltage. In addition, 96.6% of the original photocurrent can be maintained after operating for 3600 s with 93% long‐term storage (8 weeks) in ambient air, indicating its potential applications in optoelectronics field. 43. Pyridine-Based Electron-Transport Materials with High Solubility, Excellent Film-Forming Ability, and Wettability for Inkjet-Printed OLEDs

Abstract

Film morphology has predominant influence on the performance of multilayered organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), whereas there is little reported literature from the angle of the molecular level to investigate the impact on film-forming ability and device performance. In this work, four isomeric cross-linkable electron-transport materials constructed with pyridine, 1,2,4-triazole, and vinylbenzyl ether groups were developed for inkjet-printed OLEDs. Their lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (∼3.20 eV) and highest occupied molecular orbital (∼6.50 eV) levels are similar, which are mainly determined by the 1,2,4-triazole groups. The triplet energies of these compounds can be tuned from 2.51 to 2.82 eV by different coupling modes with the core of pyridine, where the 2,6-pyridine-based compound has the highest value of 2.82 eV. Film formation and solubility of the compounds were investigated. It was found that the 2,6-pyridine-based compound outperformed the 2,4-pyridine, 2,5-pyridine, and 3,5-pyridine-based compounds. The spin-coated blue OLEDs based on the four compounds have achieved over 14.0% external quantum efficiencies (EQEs) at the luminance of 100 cd m–2, and a maximum EQE of 12.1% was obtained for the inkjet-printed device with 2,6-pyridine-based compound.
