Background: Metabolic disorders are common in individuals with Turner syndrome (TS). Hyperuricemia is associated with metabolic syndrome. This study investigated the serum uric acid (SUA) profile in patients with TS. Methods: A retrospective observational study was conducted with 145 patients with TS. A total of 72 normal girls were in the control group from 2015 to 2024: 86 TS patients were treated with growth hormone (GH), 80 with stanozolol, and 52 with estrogen. Results: Hyperuricemia was present in 33.1% (47/145) of patients with untreated TS and in 16.67% (12/72) of the controls (P < 0.001). Multivariable linear regression analysis showed that BMISDS, fasting serum glucose, and eGFR explained 34.4% (model R 2 = 0.344) of the total variation in SUA in the untreated TS group. SUA and SUASDS (SUA standard deviation score) levels generally showed a slow rising tendency with age. SUA increased significantly in the first year of stanozolol initiation (P = 0.032), while adding estrogen and stanozolol improved the lipid profile during the whole assessment period. Conclusion: Girls with TS showed a slow rising tendency in SUA and SUASDS with age and had higher SUA and SUASDS levels and incidence of hyperuricemia compared to their healthy female peers. The independent risk factors for hyperuricemia in pediatric patients with TS were BMISDS, HOMA-IR, glucose, and eGFR. It is crucial to understand the conditions and influencing mechanisms of shale gas slip effect for predicting the productivity of shale gas reservoirs. This study focuses on the Carboniferous Hurleg Formation shales in the eastern Qaidam Basin and conducts gas permeability tests using different gases (He/N2), as well as geochemical and pore-structure tests. The slip behavior of different gases in micro- and nanopores as well as the anisotropy of gas permeability were analyzed and discussed. The results show that helium permeability is 1.81–3.56 times higher than nitrogen permeability, with a greater difference at lower pore pressures. These permeability differences are attributed to variations in gas molecule size and slip effects. Specifically, the slip effect of helium gas has a greater contribution to permeability at lower pore pressures, with a helium slip factor averaging 2.79 times that of nitrogen. The effective pore size of shale, calculated based on the helium slip factor, is 0.74 to 1.51 times larger than when nitrogen is used, with an average of 1.67 times. Helium molecules have smaller diameters and longer average molecular free paths, resulting in a more pronounced slip effect compared to nitrogen. While helium does not adsorb, nitrogen exhibits some adsorption, causing radial expansion during gas penetration. Furthermore, when testing with different gases, the horizontal permeability (S043∥; S052∥) is higher than the vertical permeability (S043⊥; S052⊥). The anisotropy of permeability is controlled by the pore system formed by the arrangement and combination of minerals. Calcium-rich samples (S052) tend to exhibit higher anisotropy compared to calcite-rich samples (S043). The effective pore size in the vertical sample is larger than that in the parallel sample, and the gas slip effect is significantly greater in the vertical sample. The central part of the Zhangjiakou area is occupied by the Yanshan orogenic basin. A large number of piedmont faults developed over time, controlling the exposure of geothermal anomalies. The fluid chemistry characteristics and their influence on the heat generation mechanism of the medium- and low-temperature convective geothermal field in the area are not fully understood. In this study, the geothermal fluid was sampled and tested, and the hydrogeological background conditions were analyzed. The results show that the sulfate in geothermal fluid originates from the dissolution of gypsum or H2S oxidation in deep magma. The geothermal fluid in the faulted basin flows upward after deep circulation and interacts with shallow groundwater. The main source of geothermal fluid is atmospheric precipitation. The temperature of the hot reservoir is between 82 °C and 121 °C, and the depth of geothermal water circulation is more than 3200 m. It can be seen that the geothermal resources in this area are formed by the long-term contact of residual magma, geothermal heating and mechanical heating of neotectonic movement after atmospheric precipitation recharge. In this paper, we investigate a diffusive modified Leslie–Gower predator–prey system with double Allee effect on prey. The global existence, uniqueness and a priori bound of positive solutions are determined. The existence and local stability of constant steady–state solutions are analyzed. Next, we induce the nonexistence of nonconstant positive steady–state solutions, which indicates the effect of large diffusivity. Furthermore, we discuss the steady–state bifurcation and the existence of nonconstant positive steady–state solutions by the bifurcation theory. In addition, Hopf bifurcations of the spatially homogeneous and inhomogeneous periodic orbits are studied. Finally, we make some numerical simulations to validate and complement the theoretical analysis. Our results demonstrate that the dynamics of the system with double Allee effect and modified Leslie–Gower scheme are richer and more complex. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, a glycolysis model subject to no-flux boundary condition is considered. First, by discussing the corresponding characteristic equation, the stability of constant steady state solution is discussed, and the Turing's instability is shown. Next, based on Lyapunov-Schmidt reduction method and singularity theory, the multiple stationary bifurcations with singularity are analyzed. In particular, under no-flux boundary condition we show the existence of nonconstant steady state solution bifurcating from a double zero eigenvalue, which is always excluded in most existing works. Also, the stability, bifurcation direction and multiplicity of the bifurcation steady state solutions are investigated by the singularity theory. Finally, the theoretical results are confirmed by numerical simulations. It is also shown that there is no Hopf bifurcation on basis of the condition (C). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To enrich the theoretical research of the oscillation for third order neutral differential equations for a kind of third order neutral differential equations with distributed delay by means of Riccati transformation and one-vaviable quadratic inequlity. The non-structural protein (nsp) 8 of the porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) is highly stable across different PEDV strains and plays an important role in PEDV virulence. In current study, nsp8 prokaryotic expression vectors were constructed based on parental vectors pMAL-c2x-maltose binding protein (MBP) and pET-28a (+). Subsequently, the optimization of expression conditions in Escherichia coli , including induced temperature, time and isopropyl β-D-thiogalactopyranoside concentration were performed to obtain a stable expression of MBP-nsp8 and nsp8. The nsp8 fused with MBP increased the water solubility of the expressed products. Target proteins were further purified from E. coli culture and their immunogenicities were evaluated in vivo by mice. The antibody titers of serum from nsp8 immunized mice were up to 1:7,750,000 when measured by indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay; meanwhile, the mice immunized with MBP-nsp8 gave an antibody titer reaching 1:1,000,000. In all, the expression and purification system of PEDV nsp8 and MBP-nsp8 were successfully established in this work and a strong immune response was elicited in mice by both purified nsp8 and MBP-nsp8, providing a basis for the study of the structure and function of PEDV nsp8., Competing Interests: The authors claim that they have no competing interests., (© 2024 Urmia University.
