11. Single-Atom Rh1Alloyed Co for Urea Electrosynthesis from CO2and NO3–

Abstract

Single-atom Rh1alloyed Co (Rh1Co) is explored as an efficient catalyst for urea electrosynthesis via coelectrolysis of CO2and NO3–(UECN). Theoretical calculations and in situ spectroscopic measurements unravel the synergetic effect of Co and Rh1in promoting the UECN process, where the Rh1site activates NO3–to form *NH2, while the Co site activates CO2to form *CO. The formed *CO then desorbs from the Co site and transfers to the Rh1site, followed by continuous C–N coupling with *NH2formed on the Rh1site to synthesize urea. Remarkably, Rh1Co assembled in a flow cell delivers the exceptional urea yield rate of 24.9 mmol h–1g–1and Faradaic efficiency of 51.1%, outperforming most previously reported UECN catalysts.

Abstract

Oriented synthesis of transition metal sulfides (TMSs) with controlled compositions and crystal structures has long been promising for electronic devices and energy applications. Liquid‐phase cation exchange (LCE) is a well‐studied route by varying the compositions. However, achieving crystal structure selectivity is still a great challenge. Here, we demonstrate gas‐phase cation exchange (GCE), which can induce a specific topological transformation (TT), for the synthesis of versatile TMSs with identified cubic or hexagonal crystal structures. The parallel six‐sided subunit (PSS), a new descriptor, is defined to describe the substitution of cations and the transition of the anion sublattice. Under this principle, the band gap of targeted TMSs can be tailored. Using the photocatalytic hydrogen evolution as an example, the optimal hydrogen evolution rate of a zinc‐cadmium sulfide (ZCS4) is determined to be 11.59 mmol h−1 g−1, showing a 36.2‐fold improvement over CdS. Abstract

The prosperous deployments of renewable energy have stimulated the looming exploration of K‐ion batteries (KIBs) for grid‐scale energy storage because of their high energy density and low cost. However, lacking advanced anode materials with high theoretical capacity, fast K+ storage kinetics, and eco‐friendliness discourages KIB development. Here, for the first time, ZnTe as an advanced KIB anode material with a conversion reaction mechanism (yZnTe + xK+ + xe− → yZn + KxTey) is demonstrated. The ZnTe nanoparticles are uniformly dispersed in a carbon matrix using metal–organic frameworks as starting materials, which are subsequently anchored on Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets, forming elaborate ZnTe@C/Ti3C2Tx (ZCT) nanohybrids. Various theoretical modeling and postmortem examinations reveal the synergistic integrations between carbon and Ti3C2Tx. Compositionally, they regulate the electronic structure of ZnTe, providing fast K+ adsorption kinetics. Morphologically, they construct a 0D/2D dual confinement, addressing the volume change of ZnTe upon cycling. Therefore, the ZCT exhibits a high capacity (408.0 mA h g−1 at 0.1 A g−1) and excellent long‐term cyclability (230.2 mA h g−1 at 1.0 A g−1 after 3500 cycles), outperforming other reported transition‐metal‐chalcogenides. Significantly, the ZCT‐based full cells achieve a high energy density of 110.3 Wh Kg−1, making ZCT promising for practical applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Geological disasters frequently occur in the mountainous area which seriously threaten the safety of railways and human life. Although wireless sensor network (WSN) technology can be used in the geological disaster remote monitoring system by deploying sensor nodes in the mountainous area, the difficulties faced in long-term and large-area monitoring, such as limited battery energy of sensor nodes and high energy consumption of long-distance transmission. In order to prolong the network life and extend monitoring range, this paper takes the distribution and the residual energy of sensor nodes into account to propose an uneven clustering multi-hop routing protocol for geological disaster monitoring sensor network which server can use to realize optimal clustering formation and establish energy efficient routing. In our protocol, particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is used to realize dynamic uneven clustering and minimum spanning tree (MST) algorithm is used to establish energy efficient inter-cluster multi-hop routing that will reduce the energy consumption of long-distance transmission. Compared with the previous routing protocols, the simulation results show the superiority of the proposed protocol in balancing energy consumption of sensor nodes, prolonging network life and long-distance low-power transmission.
