Recent empirical research posits a link between lymphocyte subgroups and both the incidence and prognosis of sepsis. Nevertheless, the potential influence of multiple confounding variables obscures any clear causative correlation. Utilizing a 2-sample Mendelian randomization approach, we conducted a meta-analysis of lymphocyte subgroups. In a genome-wide association study, flow cytometry was applied to a lymphocyte subgroup comprising 3757 Sardinians to identify genes influenced by blood immune cells. The sepsis meta-analysis data were sourced from the UK Biobank database, including 11,643 treatment groups and 47,841 control groups. Inverse variance-weighted, Mendelian randomization-Egger regression, weighted median, simple mode, and weighted mode methods were deployed to ascertain the causative relationship between lymphocyte subgroup and sepsis. Cochran Q test, the Mendelian randomization-Egger intercept test, and funnel plots were leveraged to assess the robustness of study findings. The inverse variance-weighted analysis disclosed that the absolute count of CD4 regulatory T cells (CD4 Treg AC) within the lymphocyte subgroup has a causative link to an elevated risk of sepsis, with an odds ratio of 1.08 and a 95% confidence interval of 1.02 to 1.15 (P = .011). Compared to individuals not subjected to this factor, those exposed to CD4 Treg AC have a marginally elevated sepsis risk by approximately 0.08%. No causative relationships were observed between sepsis risk and the absolute counts of other lymphocyte subgroups such as CD8+ T cells, CD4+ CD8dim T cells, natural killer T cells, B cells (B cell absolute count), and HLA DR+ natural killer cells. The 2-sample Mendelian randomization study indicated a causal relationship between the level of CD4 Treg AC and the increased risk of sepsis. The elevation in circulating lymphocyte subgroups suggests higher susceptibility to sepsis, affirming the immune susceptibility inherent to this condition. Objective To understand the differences in the demand,preference,and tendency for elderly care services between urban and rural areas in the Pearl River Delta (PRD),and to provide reference for the planning and balanced allocation of elderly care resources in urban and rural areas. Methods Using the multi-stage stratified random sampling method,we selected 7 community health service centers in 2 prefecture-level cities in the PRD and conducted a questionnaire survey on the elderly care service demand,preference,and tendency among 1919 regular residents aged 60 years and above who attended the centers. Results A total of 641 urban elderly residents (33.4%) and 1278 rural elderly residents (66.6%) were surveyed in the PRD.The urban and rural elderly residents showed differences in the child number ( χ 2 =43.379, P <0.001),willingness to purchase socialized elderly care services ( χ 2 =104.141, P <0.001),and attitudes to the concept of raising child to avoid elderly hardship ( χ 2 =65.632, P <0.001).The proportion (71.8%) of rural elderly residents who prefer family-based elderly care was higher than that (57.1%) of urban elderly residents ( χ 2 =41.373, P <0.001).The proportion (62.2%) of urban elderly residents clearly expressing their willingness to choose institutions for elderly care was higher than that (44.0%) of rural elderly residents ( χ 2 =57.007, P <0.001).Compared with family-based elderly care,the willingness to choose institutional or community-based in-house elderly care was low among the urban elderly residents with surplus monthly household income or balanced income and expenditure;urban males,those with college education background or above,and those who purchased socialized elderly care services tended to prefer community-based in-house elderly care.In rural areas,the elderly residents who had local household registry were prone to choose institutional or community-based in-house elderly care,while those who had more than one child and those who were satisfied with the current living conditions were less willing to choose community-based in-house elderly care. Conclusions It is suggested that the urban-rural differences in the elderly care service demand,preference and tendency should be fully considered in the planning and allocation of urban and rural elderly care resources.Efforts remain to be made to develop diversified social elderly care services tailored to the characteristics of urban and rural areas.

Under the context of global climate change and growing population, irrigation and fertilization have become important ways to ensure food production, with consequences on water cycling, energy flow, and materials cycling in terrestrial ecosystems. In the land surface model (LSM), coupling irrigation and fertilization schemes are of great importance for clearly understanding the land-atmosphere interactions to ensure food security. We reviewed the expression methods of three key parameters, namely, the applied method, usage, and time in the parameterization process of irrigation and fertilization (nitrogen fertilizer) in LSM. We found that the ways to irrigate and ferti-lize in LSM are different from the ways used in actual practice due to the limitation of the high resolution of spatio-temporal data, which makes it difficult to understand the actual influences of irrigation and fertilization on grain yield, environment, and local climate. Finally, we proposed future works: 1) taking the differences of crop water demand into account and making the different irrigation thresholds for different crops to properly evaluate the total and intensity of water consumption of different crops; 2) using the field records and the regional grid data of fertilization and irrigation developed in recent years to develop parameterized schemes that are more in line with actual agricultural operations, which can accurately reveal their economic, ecological, and climatic effects; 3) developing fertilization diagnosis scheme considering crop type, phenological stage, and soil basic fertility as the supplementary scheme in LSM, to improve the applicability and simulation accuracy of LSM in the areas without nitrogen fertilizer data.

A few patients who have recovered from COVID-19 develop persistent or new symptoms that last for weeks or months; this is called "long COVID" or "post-COVID-19 syndrome." Over time, awareness of the short- and long-term consequences of COVID-19 has increased. The pulmonary consequences are now fairly well established, but little is known about the extrapulmonary system of COVID-19, particularly its effects on bones. Current evidence and reports indicate a direct relationship between SARS-CoV-2 infection and bone health, with SARS-CoV-2 having a significant negative effect on bone health. In this review, we analyzed the impact of SARS-CoV-2 infection on bone health and assessed the impact of COVID-19 on the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis.

The changes of bond dissociation energy (BDE) in the C-NO2 bond and nitro group charge upon the formation of the molecule-cation interaction between Na+ and the nitro group of 14 kinds of nitrotriazoles or methyl derivatives were investigated using the B3LYP and MP2(full) methods with the 6-311++G**, 6-311++G(2df,2p) and aug-cc-pVTZ basis sets. The strength of the C-NO2 bond was enhanced in comparison with that in the isolated nitrotriazole molecule upon the formation of molecule-cation interaction. The increment of the C-NO2 bond dissociation energy (ΔBDE) correlated well with the molecule-cation interaction energy. Electron density shifts analysis showed that the electron density shifted toward the C-NO2 bond upon complex formation, leading to the strengthened C-NO2 bond and the possibly reduced explosive sensitivity.
