Abstract Spin- and charge- stripe order has been extensively studied in the superconducting cuprates, among which underdoped La2−x Sr x CuO4 (LSCO) is an archetype with static spin stripes at low temperatures. An intriguing, but not completely understood, phenomenon in LSCO is that the stripes are tilted away from the high-symmetry Cu-Cu directions. Using high-resolution neutron scattering on LSCO with x = 0.12, we find two coexisting phases at low temperatures, one with static spin stripes and the other with fluctuating ones, both sharing the same tilt angle. Our numerical calculations using the doped Hubbard model elucidate the tilting’s origin, attributing it to anisotropic next-nearest neighbor hopping $${t}^{{\prime} }$$ t ′ , consistent with the material’s slight orthorhombicity. Our results underscore the model’s success in describing specific details of the ground state of this real material and highlight the role of $${t}^{{\prime} }$$ t ′ in the Hamiltonian, revealing the delicate interplay between stripes and superconductivity across theoretical and experimental contexts.

Abstract Background Growth charts are an important method for evaluating a child’s health, growth, and nutritional status. It is essential to monitor the growth of children and adolescents using growth charts. Objectives To present body mass index (BMI)-for-age references reflecting children’s growth in Shanxi. We also compare our new data with growth references of other cities of China and World Health Organization (WHO) growth standards. Methods A stratified cluster random sampling method was used to recruit 5461 children and adolescents aged 6–17 years. Height and weight were measured and BMI was calculated. The LMS method was used to calculate the percentile values of body mass index by sex and age. Smoothed BMI-for-age growth curves were presented for both sexes and compared with reference data from other cities of China and WHO. Results BMI centiles increased with age but with different patterns in both boys and girls. The centile curves from the 3rd to the 50th had a slight increase, while a sharp increase was seen from 11 to 17 years in boys and from 6 to 14 years in girls in the higher centiles. In comparison with other cities of China, the values for the 50th percentile are higher than those reported for children from China 2009, Shanghai, Changsha and China 2010 in both sexes. In comparison with WHO growth references, Chinese girls and boys had higher values in all percentiles, whereas curves of girls look roughly the same. The medians for BMI in Shanxi increase linearly from 6 to 17 years in boys. Conclusions The BMI percentiles of children aged 6–17 years in Shanxi differed significantly from the growth reference curves of other cities of China and WHO. Recommending the provision of BMI reference curves for local children and adolescents to assess their growth and development and monitor their nutritional status. Early detection of overweight and obesity in children provides a scientific basis for the prevention and control of overweight and obesity in children.

Abstract Colon adenocarcinoma (COAD) is the second leading cause of cancer death, and there is still a lack of diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets. In this study, bioinformatics analysis of the TCGA database was used to obtain RUNX1, a gene with prognostic value in COAD. RUNX1 plays an important role in many malignancies, and its molecular regulatory mechanisms in COAD remain to be fully understood. To explore the physiological role of RUNX1, we performed functional analyses, such as CCK-8, colony formation and migration assays. In addition, we investigated the underlying mechanisms using transcriptome sequencing and chromatin immunoprecipitation assays. RUNX1 is highly expressed in COAD patients and significantly correlates with survival. Silencing of RUNX1 significantly slowed down the proliferation and migratory capacity of COAD cells. Furthermore, we demonstrate that CDC20 and MCM2 may be target genes of RUNX1, and that RUNX1 may be physically linked to the deubiquitinating enzyme USP31, which mediates the upregulation of RUNX1 protein to promote transcriptional function. Our results may provide new insights into the mechanism of action of RUNX1 in COAD and reveal potential therapeutic targets for this disease.

To assess the efficacy of a nomogram model derived from extraprostatic extension (EPE) grade on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and clinical features in forecasting pathological EPE in prostate cancer. We conducted a retrospective analysis of the clinical data from 232 prostate cancer patients. Patients were categorized into EPE and non-EPE groups based on the presence of pathological EPE. Subsequently, they were randomly allocated into a training set (162 cases) and a validation set (70 cases) at a 7:3 ratio. We gathered clinical attributes and EPE grades for all patients. Three predictive models—clinic, magnetic resonance (MR) and clinic + MR—were developed within the training set. The clinic + MR model was visualized through a nomogram. The models’ performance was assessed using the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, calibration curve, and decision curve analysis (DCA). Both univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses identified the biopsy International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP) category and biopsy maximum unilateral positive percentage as independent risk factors for EPE within the training set. The EPE grade exhibited consistent inter-observer agreement, evidenced by weighted Kappa values of 0.72 and 0.71 in the training and validation sets, respectively. Compared to the clinic and MR models, the clinic + MR model was the most effective in predicting pathological EPE, boasting area under the curves (AUCs) of 0.85 and 0.82 in the training and validation sets, respectively. Calibration curves from both sets demonstrated that the clinic + MR model provided accurate predictions for pathological EPE. Within the DCA, the clinic + MR model surpassed the clinic and MR models in terms of clinical net benefit in both sets. The clinic + MR model excels in predicting the pathological EPE of prostate cancer. Its superiority over the clinic model underscores its clinical relevance and the potential for broader implementation.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the sixth most common malignant tumor and the third leading cause of cancer death worldwide. Most patients are diagnosed at an advanced stage, and systemic chemotherapy is the preferred treatment modality for advanced HCC. Curcumin (CUR) is a polyphenolic antineoplastic drug with low toxicity obtained from plants. However, its low bioavailability and poor solubility limit its functionality. In this study, radiofrequency- (RF) enhanced responsive nanoflowers (NFs), containing superparamagnetic ferric oxide nanoclusters (Fe3O4 NCs), – CUR layer, – and MnO2 (CUR-Fe@MnO2 NFs), were verified to have a thermal therapeutic effect. Transmission electron microscopy was used to characterize the CUR-Fe@MnO2 NFs, which appeared flower-like with a size of 96.27 nm. The in vitro experimental data showed that RF enhanced the degradation of CUR-Fe@MnO2 NFs to release Mn2+ and CUR. The cytotoxicity test results indicated that after RF heating, the CUR-Fe@MnO2 NFs significantly suppressed HCC cell proliferation. Moreover, CUR-Fe@MnO2 NFs were effective T1/T2 contrast agents for molecular magnetic resonance imaging due to the release of Mn2+ and Fe3O4 NCs.

Abstract Predicting magnetic ordering in kagome compounds offers the possibility of harnessing topological or flat-band physical properties through tuning of the magnetism. Here, we examine the magnetic interactions and phases of ErMn6Sn6 which belongs to a family of RMn6Sn6, R = Sc, Y, Gd–Lu, compounds with magnetic kagome Mn layers, triangular R layers, and signatures of topological properties. Using results from single-crystal neutron diffraction and mean-field analysis, we find that ErMn6Sn6 sits close to the critical boundary separating the spiral-magnetic and ferrimagnetic ordered states typical for non-magnetic versus magnetic R layers, respectively. Finding interlayer magnetic interactions and easy-plane Mn magnetic anisotropy consistent with other members of the family, we predict the existence of a number of temperature and field dependent collinear, noncollinear, and noncoplanar magnetic phases. We show that thermal fluctuations of the Er magnetic moment, which act to weaken the Mn-Er interlayer magnetic interaction and quench the Er magnetic anisotropy, dictate magnetic phase stability. Our results provide a starting point and outline a multitude of possibilities for studying the behavior of Dirac fermions in RMn6Sn6 compounds with control of the Mn spin orientation and real-space spin chirality.

Abstract The emergence of convolutional neural network (CNN) and transformer has recently facilitated significant advances in image super-resolution (SR) tasks. However, these networks commonly construct complex structures, having huge model parameters and high computational costs, to boost reconstruction performance. In addition, they do not consider the structural prior well, which is not conducive to high-quality image reconstruction. In this work, we devise a lightweight interactive feature inference network (IFIN), complementing the strengths of CNN and Transformer, for effective image SR reconstruction. Specifically, the interactive feature aggregation module (IFAM), implemented by structure-aware attention block (SAAB), Swin Transformer block (SWTB), and enhanced spatial adaptive block (ESAB), serves as the network backbone, progressively extracts more dedicated features to facilitate the reconstruction of high-frequency details in the image. SAAB adaptively recalibrates local salient structural information, and SWTB effectively captures rich global information. Further, ESAB synergetically complements local and global priors to ensure the consistent fusion of diverse features, achieving high-quality reconstruction of images. Comprehensive experiments reveal that our proposed networks attain state-of-the-art reconstruction accuracy on benchmark datasets while maintaining low computational demands. Abstract Background Mounting evidences shows that the ubiquitin‒proteasome pathway plays a pivotal role in tumor progression. The expression of 26S proteasome non-ATPase regulatory subunit 9 (PSMD9) is correlated with recurrence and radiotherapy resistance in several tumor types. However, the role and mechanism of PSMD9 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression remain largely unclear. Methods PSMD9 was identified as a prognosis-related biomarker for HCC based on analysis of clinical characteristics and RNA-seq data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) and the JP Project of the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC-LIRI-JP). PSMD9 expression was analyzed in cancer tissues and adjacent noncancerous tissues via immunohistochemistry and Western blotting. Multiple in vivo and in vitro experimental techniques (such as CCK-8, colony formation, EdU, and Transwell assays; flow cytometry; Western blotting; quantitative RT-PCR; Coimmunoprecipitation assay and immunofluorescence confocal imaging) were used to assess the functions of PSMD9 in the pathogenesis of HCC. Results We found that the expression of PSMD9 was upregulated and associated with a poor prognosis in HCC patients. PSMD9 promoted HCC cell proliferation, migration, invasion and metastasis. Knockdown of PSMD9 significantly inhibited HCC cell proliferation by inducing G1/S cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. Mechanistically, we demonstrated that PSMD9 promoted HCC cell proliferation and metastasis via direct interaction with the E3 ubiquitin ligase c-Cbl, suppresses EGFR ubiquitination, influenced EGFR endosomal trafficking and degradation and subsequently activated ERK1/2 and Akt signaling. In addition, we showed that PSMD9 knockdown sensitized HCC cells to the tyrosine kinase inhibitor erlotinib in vitro and in vivo. Conclusions Collectively, our results indicate that PSMD9 drives HCC progression and erlotinib resistance by suppressing c-Cbl mediated EGFR ubiquitination and therefore can be a potential therapeutic target for HCC.

In this work, the blueberry candied syrup was separated and purified by microfiltration combined with macroporous resin technology to recover anthocyanins. Firstly, the macroporous resin was screened through static test. On the basis of single factor and Box-Behnken response surface tests, the flow rate, ethanol concentration and elution flow rate were optimized with anthocyanin recovery rate and total sugar removal rate as indexes in the dynamic test. The result showed that the anthocyanin content and the total sugar content were 6.84 mg/100 mL and 31.76 mg/mL respectively. Among AB-8, D101 and HPD 600 resins, AB-8 was optimized for the purification of anthocyanins from blueberry candied syrup, and the best technological conditions for the purification of anthocyanins by macroporous resin were as follows: The flow rate was 2.0 mL/min, the ethanol concentration was 83%, and the elution flow rate was 2.0 mL/min. Under these conditions, the anthocyanin recovery rate was 86.68%, and the total sugar removal rate was 84.13%. After the anthocyanin desorbing solution was concentrated by rotation evaporation, the concentration of anthocyanin was 5.56 mg/100 mL, and the total sugar concentration was 5.24 mg/mL. The color value of anthocyanins was 31.43, which was about 5 times of the color value of anthocyanins in raw materials. Microfiltration combined with macroporous resin purification of blueberry candied syrup anthocyanin was effective, and this study provides some technical reference for the isolation and purification of blueberry anthocyanin.

Abstract Background and aim Previous observational investigations have indicated a potential association between relative dietary macronutrient intakes and atrial fibrillation and flutter (AF) risk. In this study, we employed Mendelian Randomization (MR) to evaluate the presence of causality and to elucidate the specific causal relationship. Methods We employed six, five, and three single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) as instrumental variables for relative carbohydrate, protein, and fat intake, identified from a genome-wide association study that included 268,922 individuals of European descent. Furthermore, we acquired summary statistics for genome-wide association studies on AF from the FinnGen consortium, which involved 22,068 cases and 116,926 controls. To evaluate the causal estimates, we utilized the random effect inverse variance weighted method (IVW) and several other MR methods, including MR-Egger, weighted median, and MR-PRESSO, to confirm the robustness of our findings. Results Our analysis indicates a convincing causal relationship between genetically predicted relative carbohydrate and protein intake and reduced AF risk. Abstract Background We aimed to explore the application value of various machine learning (ML) algorithms based on multicenter CT radiomics in identifying peripheral nerve invasion (PNI) of colorectal cancer (CRC). Methods A total of 268 patients with colorectal cancer who underwent CT examination in two hospitals from January 2016 to December 2022 were considered. Imaging and clinicopathological data were collected through the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). The Feature Explorer software (FAE) was used to identify the peripheral nerve invasion of colorectal patients in center 1, and the best feature selection and classification channels were selected. Finally, the best feature selection and classifier pipeline were verified in center 2. Results The six-feature models using RFE feature selection and GP classifier had the highest AUC values, which were 0.610, 0.699, and 0.640, respectively. FAE generated a more concise model based on one feature (wavelet-HLL-glszm-LargeAreaHighGrayLevelEmphasis) and achieved AUC values of 0.614 and 0.663 on the validation and test sets, respectively, using the “one standard error” rule. Using ANOVA feature selection, the GP classifier had the best AUC value in a one-feature model, with AUC values of 0.611, 0.663, and 0.643 on the validation, internal test, and external test sets, respectively. Similarly, when using the “one standard error” rule, the model based on one feature (wave-let-HLL-glszm-LargeAreaHighGrayLevelEmphasis) achieved AUC values of 0.614 and 0.663 on the validation and test sets, respectively. Conclusions Combining artificial intelligence and radiomics features is a promising approach for identifying peripheral nerve invasion in colorectal cancer. This innovative technique holds significant potential for clinical medicine, offering broader application prospects in the field. Critical relevance statement The multi-channel ML method based on CT radiomics has a simple operation process and can be used to assist in the clinical screening of patients with CRC accompanied by PNI. Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooling technology is one of the key technologies of the engine to meet the Euro 7 emission standard. Nevertheless, the hydrocarbon (HC) condensation in the cooler leads to uncontrolled thermal-hydraulic performance, and the onset temperature of HC condensation is still debated, which is one of the obstacles to implementing the Euro 7 standard. Here, we first established a database of key parameters (carbon number, concentration, and pressure); then theoretically calculated the onset temperatures of various condensation types (wall condensation, heterogeneous nucleation, and homogeneous nucleation), plotted the entire map and verified its veracity; and finally, elucidated the contribution of each parameter through sensitivity analysis. The results show that (i) HC species are C12 to C25, from 25 to 1717 ppm concentrations, and pressures are from 1 to 4 bar. (ii) The map diagrams for the onset temperature of HC condensation have broad applicability and strong practicality. (iii) The temperature ranges of the onset of wall condensation, heterogeneous nucleation, and homogeneous nucleation are from 4 to 218 °C, from 1 to 209 °C, and from −6 to 195 °C, respectively. (iv) Carbon number has the most significant contribution, followed by HC concentration and pressure. The results can provide a valuable reference for more accurate EGR cooler design and management.

Xanthogranulomatous cholecystitis (XGC) is a rare type of cholecystitis that, despite being benign poses diagnostic challenges due to its low prevalence and need for consensus on diagnostic criteria. Consequently, distinguishing XGC from gallbladder cancer (GBC) is challenging, leading to clinical misdiagnoses. This article presents a case where a patient initially diagnosed with GBC was later found to have XGC.

Background: and purpose Prostate cancer is an comparatively prevalent clinical malignant tumor in men, impacting the lives of millions of men globally. This study measured the expression of Karyopherin Subunit Beta 1 (KPNB1) in prostate cancer cells, and made an effort to investigate how astragaloside IV affects the biological behavior, tumor growth, and mechanism of action of prostate cancer through KPNB1. Methods: Human prostate cancer and normal cells were obtained and KPNB1 expression levels in the two cells were determined using qPCR and WB. Prostate cancer cells were grouped according to the addition of astragaloside IV, KPNB1 inhibitor (importazole) alone and in combination. KPNB1, NF-κB, and cycle-related proteins were detected to be expressed at different levels in each group's cells by WB. MTT to assess the viability of the cells. To identify the cell cycle, use flow cytometry, and sphere formation experiment to observe sphere formation ability. Nude mice were purchased and subcutaneously inoculated with prostate cancer cells to establish a prostate cancer model, and grouped by tail vein injection of astragaloside IV and importazole. In geotechnical engineering, side friction resistance (SFR) is difficult to be measured directly. To further understand distribution law of the SFR, this paper developed a monitoring device that can directly measure the SFR. Further, a theoretical conversion formula for the elastic deformation and the SFR that considers the end effect of sensor sealing was proposed to guide the selection of sensor size and sealing material. Moreover, the monitoring device for the SFR was then calibrated using a large-scale direct shear apparatus and analyzed the stability of the sensor. The calibration results revealed that under cyclic loading and unloading conditions, the linear correlation coefficient of the sensor was greater than 0.996, and the sensitivity after sealing could reach 4.836 με/kPa, which met requirements of the engineering application. The developed monitoring device characterized by simple testing principle, low cost, and high precision were successfully applied to an open caisson project in Harbin City, which contributes to address the difficult problem of efficiently collecting the SFR in highways, bridges, water conservancy, and other projects.

Abstract Dyes and heavy metals pollute the environment. Biochar-based hydrogel is an excellent adsorbent, but the competitive adsorption mechanism associated with the removal of pollutants using biochar is yet to be understood in detail. Biochar was prepared following the process of high-temperature lysis of marine green tide (Enteromorpha prolifera). The prepared biochar was cross-linked with water-soluble chitosan and compounded with nano-Fe3O4 to synthesize magnetically-modified Enteromorpha prolifera-based biochar hydrogel (MM-EBC-HD). The competitive removal performance of the hydrogel was studied, and the pollutant removal mechanism was analyzed against a binary system consisting of common environmental pollutants (methyl orange [MO] and hexavalent chromium [Cr (VI)]. The physical and chemical properties of the composites were studied before and after contaminant removal, and the associated pollutant removal mechanisms were analyzed by SEM, EDS, FTIR, XRD, and XPS techniques. The effects of pH, temperature and initial pollutant concentration on the adsorption performance of the materials were examined. The maximum adsorption of MO on MM-EBC-HD was 71.18 mg g−1, and adsorption equilibrium was attained at approximately 60 min. Electrostatic forces, hydrophobic bonds, and hydrogen bonds were exploited for MO adsorption. And the maximum adsorption amount of Cr (VI) was recorded to be 115.41 mg g−1, and equilibrium was attained in approximately 10 min. Electrostatic and ion exchange effects were exploited to adsorb Cr (VI) efficiently. The MO and Cr (VI) adsorption processes could be explained by the second-order kinetic model and Langmuir adsorption isotherms, respectively. The adsorption performance recorded for the binary adsorption system was poorer than that recorded for the single adsorption system for both pollutants. MO and Cr (VI) adsorption decreased from 74.88% to 47.65% and from 62.33% to 42.4%, respectively. Competition between MO and Cr (VI) in the dual system can be attributed to the presence of amino and hydroxyl groups. The MO–Cr complex, which was more compact in structure than a single contaminant, was formed, allowing few reactive groups to be exposed to the surface of the hydrogel. Additionally, MM-EBC-HD nanocomposites presented a recovery rate of 87% after 5 cycles and thus could be used to avoid adsorbents-caused environmental hazards. Graphical Abstract

How to effectively evaluate the firing precision of weapon equipment at low cost is one of the core contents of improving the test level of weapon system. A new method to evaluate the firing precision of the MLRS considering the credibility of simulation system based on Bayesian theory is proposed in this paper. First of all, a comprehensive index system for the credibility of the simulation system of the firing precision of the MLRS is constructed combined with the group analytic hierarchy process. A modified method for determining the comprehensive weight of the index is established to improve the rationality of the index weight coefficients. The Bayesian posterior estimation formula of firing precision considering prior information is derived in the form of mixed prior distribution, and the rationality of prior information used in estimation model is discussed quantitatively. With the simulation tests, the different evaluation methods are compared to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Finally, the experimental results show that the effectiveness of estimation method for firing precision is improved by more than 25%.

Objective To investigate the correlation between interleukin(IL) -1 family, classical inflammatory markers and pulmonary function in patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD). Methods Forty-five patients with stable COPD who visited the outpatient clinic or ward of the Department of Geriatrics,Beijing Jishuitan Hospital,Capital Medical University,from July 2021 to December 2022 were selected for a prospective cross-sectional survey to collect gender,age,smoking history and smoking index,underlying disease information,and serum IL-1 family(IL-1α,IL-1β,IL-18),IL-6,IL-8,TNF-α detection and pulmonary function tests. Results Multivariate regression analysis found that IL-18 was independently correlated with forced expiratory volume in the first second(FEV1) predicted value(FEV1%),IL-18 and age were independently associated with the single-breath diffusing lung capacity of carbon monoxide(DLCO),IL-18 was independently related to the improvement rate of FEV1. Conclusion IL-18 level in stable COPD was significantly correlated with pulmonary ventilation function,pulmonary diffusion capacity and FEV1 improvement rate,which suggesting that IL-18 may play an important role in the development of the disease at this stage and can be used as the good monitoring indicators for the evaluation of stable COPD.

Abstract To reduce the uncertainty estimation of clouds and improve the forecast of surface shortwave radiation (SSR) over the Tibetan Plateau, a new cloud assimilation system is proposed which is the first attempt to directly apply the four-dimensional local ensemble transform Kalman filter method to assimilate the cloud optical thickness (COT). The high-resolution spatial and temporal data assimilated from the next-generation geostationary satellite Himawari-8, with the high-assimilation frequency, realized an accurate estimation of the clouds and radiation forecasting. The COT and SSR were significantly improved after the assimilation by independent verification. The correlation coefficient (CORR) of the SSR was increased by 11.3%, and the root-mean-square error (RMSE) and mean bias error (MBE) were decreased by 28.5% and 58.9%, respectively. The 2-h cycle assimilation forecast results show that the overestimation of SSR has been effectively reduced using the assimilation system. These findings demonstrate the high potential of this assimilation technique in forecasting of SSR in numerical weather prediction. The ultimate goal that to improve the model forecast through the assimilation of cloud properties requires further studies to achieve.

Abstract Background This study aimed to investigate the positional consistency between the guidewire and the screw in spinal internal fixation surgery. Methods This study involved 64 patients who underwent robot-assisted thoracic or lumbar pedicle screw fixation surgery. Guidewires were inserted with the assistance of the Tirobot. Either cannulated screws or solid screws were inserted. Guidewire and screw accuracy was measured using CT images based on the Gertzbein and Robbins scale. The positional consistency between guidewire and screw was evaluated based on the fused CT images, which could graphically and quantitatively demonstrate the consistency. The consistency was evaluated based on a grading system that considered the maximum distance and angulation between the centerline of the guidewire and the screw in the region of the pedicle. Results A total of 322 screws were placed including 206 cannulated ones and 116 solid ones. Based on the Gertzbein and Robbins scale, 97.5% of the guidewires were grade A, and 94.1% of the screws were grade A. Based on our guidewire-screw consistency scale, 85% in cannulated group, and 69.8% in solid group, were grade A. Both solid and cannulated screws may alter trajectory compared to the guidewires. The positional accuracy and guidewire-screw consistency in the solid screw group is significantly worse than that in the cannulated screw group. The cortical bone of the pedicle has a positive guide effect on either solid or cannulated screws. Conclusion The pedicle screws may alter trajectory despite the guidance of the guidewires. Solid screws show worse positional accuracy and guidewire-screw consistency compared with cannulated screws. Trial registration The study was retrospectively registered and approved by our center’s institutional review board.

Abstract Light-harvesting is an indispensable process in photosynthesis, and researchers have been exploring various structural scaffolds to create artificial light-harvesting systems. However, achieving high donor/acceptor ratios for efficient energy transfer remains a challenge as excitons need to travel longer diffusion lengths within the donor matrix to reach the acceptor. Here, we report a polymeric supramolecular column-based light-harvesting platform inspired by the natural light-harvesting of purple photosynthetic bacteria to address this issue. The supramolecular column is designed as a discotic columnar liquid crystalline polymer and acts as the donor, with the acceptor intercalated within it. The modular columnar design enables an ultrahigh donor/acceptor ratio of 20000:1 and an antenna effect exceeding 100. Moreover, the spatial confinement within the supramolecular columns facilitates control over the energy transfer process, enabling dynamic full-color tunable emission for information encryption applications with spatiotemporal regulation security.

Abstract Introduction Kukoamine B mesylate (KB) is a mesylate chrysamine B targeting lipopolysaccharides and CpG DNA, two potential treatment targets in sepsis. Methods This first-in-human, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase I study was conducted from July 2014 to May 2015 to explore the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics of KB in healthy subjects. This study consisted of a pre-phase (four participants; KB at 0.005 mg/kg) and a dose escalation phase (eight participants/dose group, randomized 6:2 to KB or placebo; KB at 0.02, 0.04, 0.08, 0.12, 0.24, and 0.48 mg/kg). The primary endpoint was safety. Results Fifty-two participants were enrolled, including four in the pre-phase and 48 in the dose escalation phase. Among the 40 participants who received KB, 12 (30.0%) experienced adverse events (AEs), while two (16.7%) experienced AEs among 12 participants who received the placebo. The most common AEs in the KB group were headache (5.0%), influenza (5.0%) and positive white blood cell in urine (5.0%). After the administration of KB, the mean plasma elimination half was around 1.61–4.24 h. The relationship between the KB plasma exposure of KB and the administered dose was not linear. The percentage of cumulative urinary excretion of KB was similar among the different dose groups (21.7–35.2%) and the urinary excretion of KB decreased significantly about 8 h after administration. Conclusions Single-dose KB demonstrated favorable safety and tolerability in healthy subjects at the dose level of 0.005–0.48 mg/kg. KB exhibited a non-linear pharmacokinetic profile with a half-life of about 1.61–4.24 h, which mainly distributed in plasma. Trial Registration ClinicalTrials.gov identifier, NCT02219971.

Objective The treatment of unstable sacral fractures is huge challenge to surgeons. Robotically‐aided minimally invasive triangular fixation (RoboTFX) is the most advanced technique up to now. This study is to evaluate the clinical outcomes of unstable sacral fractures treated with RoboTFX. Methods From March 2017 to October 2021, 48 consecutive patients with unstable sacral fractures were included in the study. All patients received surgical treatment with triangular fixation (TFX). Patients were divided into four groups according to the number of fractures (uni‐ or bilateral) and surgical method employed (RoboTFX or traditional open TFX). Between these four groups, clinical data on operation time, intraoperative bleeding, intraoperative fluoroscopy time, infection rate, fracture healing rates, insertion accuracy, Majeed pelvic outcome score, Mears' criterion, and Gibbons score were compared. Quantitative data were expressed as mean ± standard deviation and compared using Student's t‐test. Categorical variable were compared using the Pearson's χ2 test. Results Comparing unilateral RoboTFX versus open TFX, neither fracture healing rate, infection rate, Majeed pelvic outcome score, Mears' radiological evaluation criterion, nor Gibbons score of the two groups were statistically significantly different (p > 0.05). However, operation time, intraoperative bleeding, intraoperative fluoroscopy time, and insertion accuracy in the RoboTFX group were all significantly better than those of the traditional open group (p 0.05). Conclusion RoboTFX has the advantages of less operation time, less intraoperative bleeding and fluoroscopy, more accurate fixation insertion, and a higher healing rate compared to traditional open methods in the treatment of unstable sacral fractures. However, RoboTFX requires a few critical considerations, and the indications of its operation should be strictly evaluated.

Abstract Background T cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain-containing molecule-3 (TIM-3) initially discovered on the surface of Th1 cells, negatively regulates immune responses and mediates apoptosis of Th1 cells. An increasing number of studies have since shown that TIM-3 is crucial in the genesis and development of immune diseases, cancers, and chronic infectious illnesses. However, the effect of TIM-3 on endometriosis is still unknown. Methods Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction, western blotting, and immunohistochemistry were used to measure TIM-3 levels in endometriosis. Cell Counting Kit-8, 5-ethynyl-2’-deoxyuridine, colony-forming, Transwell® migration, Matrigel® invasion, and flow cytometry assays were used to explore the function of TIM-3 in vitro, and xenograft experiments in nude mice were used to assess its role in vivo. According to the RNA seq, brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) was screened. The involvement of specific proliferation-related signaling molecules was determined by transfecting a plasmid and adding an inhibitor in vivo and in vitro. Results TIM-3 mRNA and protein expression levels were significantly higher in eutopic and ectopic endometrial tissues than in normal endometrial tissues. By examining the effects of TIM-3 overexpression and knockdown on cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in vitro, and lesions formation in vivo, we found that the expression of TIM-3 was positively correlated with cell proliferation and clone formation in vitro, as well as lesions growth in nude mice. By adding the phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase/protein kinase B(PI3K/AKT) pathway inhibitor LY294002 and knocking down PI3K, we further verified that TIM-3 promotes proliferation in vivo and in vitro via the PI3K pathway. By transfecting the plasmid into ESC cells and gave inhibitors to endometriotic rats models, we tested that TIM-3 regulates the proliferation by BDNF-mediated PI3K/AKT axis. Conclusion TIM-3 can promote the proliferation of endometriosis by BDNF-mediated PI3K/AKT axis in vivo and in vitro, which may provide a new therapeutic target for the treatment of endometriosis.

SMARCA4-deficient undifferentiated tumor (SMARCA4-dUT) is a devastating subtype of thoracic tumor with SMARCA4 inactivation and is characterized by rapid progression, poor prognosis, and high risk of postoperative recurrence. However, effective treatments for SMARCA4-dUT are lacking. Herein, we describe a patient with SMARCA4-dUT who exhibited an impressive response to the anti-programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) antibody (tislelizumab) in combination with conventional chemotherapy (etoposide and cisplatin). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of SMARCA4-dUT treated with chemotherapy, comprising etoposide and cisplatin, combined with anti-PD-1 inhibitors. Immunotherapy combined with etoposide and cisplatin may be a promising strategy to treat SMARCA4-dUT.

Magmatic activity is one of the important pathways for the delivery of deep Earth carbon to the surface. The massive carbon release in this process can have significant impacts on atmospheric-oceanic environment. Previous studies have done a lot of work on the relationship between Phanerozoic magmatic activity and carbon release, but there is relatively limited attention has been given to investigating the association between Precambrian magmatic activity and carbon release. The Yanliao Large Igneous Province at 1.32 Ga exhibits extensive development of sills, and the reaction between sills and surrounding rocks triggers the release of carbon. Simultaneously, the magmatic activity during this period is considered as the final response to the breakup of the Columbia supercontinent, coinciding with the occurrence of the Mesoproterozoic Oxygenation Event To explore the connection between this magmatic activity and global carbon cycling, environmental changes and planetary evolution, nine representative stratigraphic columns are selected from the Yanliao area. We use the SILLi 1.0 1D model by utilizing the one-dimensional finite element method (FEM) to simulate and estimate the amount of carbon release triggered by sill emplacement. The simulation results indicate that the emplacement of sills increased the surrounding rock temperature and vitrinite reflectance, leading to a decrease in the total organic carbon (TOC) content. A large amount of organic carbon and inorganic carbon was released, which was initiated by the reaction between sills and surrounding rocks, with a total carbon release up to 1.24 × 1013 tons. The estimated CO2 equivalent released during this magma activity episode is expected to be greater than 4.58 × 1013. In Mesoproterozoic strata, the emplacement of sills activates carbon within the lithosphere could have implications for the global environment. Further work needs to be done in other ancient cratons that possess Lower Riphean strata to find additional evidence of the impact of this magmatic event on the Earth system. From this study, it is evident that magmatic activity during the Precambrian period could promote the activation of carbon in crustal sediments and influence global environment, which can a reference for people to understand the planetary evolution process.

The ongoing evolution of SARS-CoV-2 is a significant concern, especially with the decrease in clinical sequencing efforts, which impedes the ability of public health sectors to prepare for the emergence of new variants and potential COVID-19 outbreaks. Wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) has been proposed as a surveillance program to detect and monitor the SARS-CoV-2 variants being transmitted in communities. However, research is limited in evaluating the effectiveness of wastewater collection at sentinel sites for monitoring disease prevalence and variant dynamics, especially in terms of inferring the epidemic patterns on a broader scale, such as at the state/province level. This study utilized a multiplexed tiling amplicon-based sequencing (ATOPlex) to track the longitudinal dynamics of variant of concern (VOC) in wastewater collected from municipalities in Queensland, Australia, spanning from 2020 to 2022. We demonstrated that wastewater epidemiology measured by ATOPlex exhibited a strong and consistent correlation with the number of daily confirmed cases. The VOC dynamics observed in wastewater closely aligned with the dynamic profile reported by clinical sequencing. Wastewater sequencing has the potential to provide early warning information for emerging variants. These findings suggest that WBE at sentinel sites, coupled with sensitive sequencing methods, provides a reliable and long-term disease surveillance strategy.

Abstract This paper presents an enhanced whale optimization algorithm based on virtual force to optimize coverage and address the problem of uneven coverage during the deployment of underwater sensor networks. This method is guided by the Lévy flight and virtual force algorithms and adopts a differential mutation strategy based on random walks. This improves the fitness of the initial population and population richness of the algorithm. The effectiveness of this method was verified through simulation.

Objective To assess the feasibility of the robot-assisted retractor. To compare the muscle injury of the two operation modes, intermittent retraction mode and continuous retraction mode in the robot-assisted retractor to find a better robot operation mode. Methods A new robot-assisted retractor experimental platform was developed. Three incisions were made on the backs of three beagles. The robot-assisted retractor was used to retract the muscle on both sides of the incisions in intermittent retraction mode and continuous retraction mode, and the operation of the robot system was observed. The muscle samples were stained with hematoxylin-eosin (HE) to observe the muscle injury. The difference between the muscle injuries of the two groups was statistically compared using paired t test. Results The robot-assisted retractor can precisely retract to the specified position without malfunction or dangerous actions. Histologic evaluation showed that fewer muscle injury was found in the intermittent retraction mode group of the robot-assisted retractor compared to the continuous retraction mode group. Conclusion The robot-assisted retractor offers a certain degree of feasibility and safety. The robot-assisted retractor is able to effectively reduce muscle injury with the intermittent retraction mode.

Hip fracture, increasing exponentially with age, is osteoporosis's most severe clinical consequence. Intertrochanteric fracture, one of the main types of hip fracture, is associated with higher mortality and morbidity. The current research hotspots lay in improving the treatment effect and optimizing the secondary stability after intertrochanteric fracture surgery. Cortex buttress reduction is a widely accepted method for treating intertrochanteric fracture by allowing the head-neck fragment to slide and rigidly contact the femoral shaft's cortex. Medial cortical support is considered a more effective option in treating young patients. However, osteo-degenerations features, including bone weakness and cortical thickness thinning, affect the performance of cortex support in geriatric intertrochanteric fracture treatment. Literature focusing on the age-specific difference in cortex performance in the fractured hip is scarce. We hypothesized that this osteo-19 degenerative feature affects the performance of cortex support in treating intertrochanteric fractures between the young and the elderly. We established twenty models for the old and the young with intertrochanteric fractures and performed static and dynamic simulations under one-legged stance and walking cycle conditions. The von Mises stress and displacement on the femur, proximal femoral nail anti-rotation (PFNA) implant, fracture plane, and the cutting volume of cancellous bone of the femur were compared. It was observed that defects in the anterior and posterior cortical bone walls significantly increase the stress on the PFNA implant, the displacement of the fracture surface, and cause a greater volume of cancellous bone to be resected. We concluded that ensuring the integrity and alignment of the anterior and posterior cortical bones is essential for elderly patients, and sagittal support is recommended. This finding suggests that the treatment method for intertrochanteric fracture may differ, considering the patient's age difference.

Abstract Background The inconsistent relationship between Vitamin B12 (B12), methylmalonic acid (MMA, marker of B12 deficiency) and mortality was poorly understood, especially in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). This study aims to investigate the association of serum MMA, and B12-related biomarkers (serum level, dietary intake, supplement use, and sensibility to B12) with all-cause and cardiovascular mortality in adults with CHD. Methods The data of this study were from a subcohort within the US National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). We included adults with preexisting CHD with serum MMA and B12, and dietary B12 intake measurements at recruitment. All participants were followed up until 31 December 2019. Weighted Cox proportional hazard regression was used to estimate hazard ratios (HR) and 95% CI of mortality risk. Results Overall, 1755 individuals (weighted mean [SE] age, 65.2 [0.5] years; 1047 men [weighted 58.5%]) with CHD were included, with geometric mean levels of serum MMA 182.4 nmol/L, serum B12 494.5 pg/ml, and dietary B12 intake 4.42 mg/day, and percentage of B12 supplements use 39.1%. During a median follow-up of 7.92 years, 980 patients died. Serum B12 concentration, dietary B12 intake and supplements use were not significantly associated with mortality risk (each p ≥ 0.388). Background: The changes in the microenvironment of degenerative intervertebral discs cause oxidative stress injury and excessive apoptosis of intervertebral disc endogenous stem cells. The purpose of this study was to explore the possible mechanism of the protective effect of melatonin on oxidative stress injury in NPMSCs induced by H2O2. Methods: The Cell Counting Kit-8 assay was used to evaluate the cytotoxicity of hydrogen peroxide and the protective effects of melatonin. ROS content was detected by 2′7′-dichlorofluorescin diacetate (DCFH-DA). Mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) was detected by the JC-1assay. Transferase mediated d-UTP Nick end labeling (TUNEL) and Annexin V/PI double staining were used to determine the apoptosis rate. Additionally, apoptosis-associated proteins and PI3K/Akt signaling pathway-related proteins were evaluated by immunofluorescence, immunoblotting and PCR. ECMs were evaluated by RT‒PCR and immunofluorescence. In vivo, X-ray, Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and Histological analyses were used to evaluate the protective effect of melatonin. Results: Melatonin had an obvious protective effect on NPMSCs treated with 0–10 μM melatonin for 24 h. In addition, melatonin also had obvious protective effects on mitochondrial dysfunction, decreased membrane potential and cell senescence induced by H2O2. More importantly, melatonin could significantly reduce the apoptosis of nucleus pulposus mesenchymal stem cells induced by H2O2 by regulating the expression of apoptosis-related proteins and decreasing the rate of apoptosis. After treatment with melatonin, the PI3K/Akt pathway was significantly activated in nucleus pulposus mesenchymal stem cells, while the protective effect was significantly weakened after PI3K-IN-1 treatment. In vivo, the results of X-ray, MRI and histological analyses showed that therapy with melatonin could partially reduce the degree of intervertebral disc degeneration. Conclusion: Our research demonstrated that melatonin can effectively alleviate the excessive apoptosis and mitochondrial dysfunction of nucleus pulposus mesenchymal stem cells induced by oxidative stress via the PI3K/Akt pathway, which provides a novel idea for the therapy of intervertebral disc degeneration. The translational potential of this article: This study indicates that melatonin can effectively alleviate the excessive apoptosis and mitochondrial dysfunction of NPMSCs through activating the PI3K/Akt pathway. Melatonin might serve as a promising candidate for the prevention and treatment of Intervertebral disc degeneration disease (IVDD) in the future.

Abstract Exosomes originating from human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hucMSC-exos) have become a novel strategy for treating various diseases owing to their ability to regulate intercellular signal communication. However, the potential of hucMSC-exos to improve placental injury in obstetric antiphospholipid syndrome and its underlying mechanism remain unclear. Our objective was to explore the potential application of hucMSC-exos in the treatment of obstetric antiphospholipid syndrome and elucidate its underlying mechanism. In our study, hucMSC-exos ameliorated the functional impairment of trophoblasts caused by antiphospholipid antibodies in vitro and attenuated placental dysfunction in mice with obstetric antiphospholipid syndrome by delivering miR-146a-5p. Exosomal miR-146a-5p suppressed the expression of tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor 6 (TRAF6) and inhibited the activation of NF-κB signaling, leading to the down-regulation of IL-1β and IL-18 to rescue inflammation and modulation of Cleaved-CASP3, BAX, and BCL2 to inhibit apoptosis in HTR8/SVneo cells and mice placenta. This study identified the potential molecular basis of how hucMSC-exos improved antiphospholipid antibody-induced placental injury and highlighted the functional importance of the miR-146a-5p/TRAF6 axis in the progression of obstetric antiphospholipid syndrome. More importantly, this study provided a fresh outlook on the promising use of hucMSC-exos as a novel and effective treatment approach in obstetric antiphospholipid syndrome. Graphical Abstract

Abstract Objective This study’s aim is to describe the characteristics of perioperative acute cholecystitis in older patients with hip fracture. Methods From January 1, 2018, to April 30, 2023, 7,746 medical records were retrospectively collected for patients aged ≥ 65 years who were hospitalised for hip fracture in Beijing Jishuitan Hospital, Capital Medical University. We reviewed 10 cases with confirmed diagnoses of acute cholecystitis. Results Of these 10 cases, five femoral neck fractures and five intertrochanteric fractures received orthopaedic surgery. The ratio of males to females was 2:8, the median age was 83.1 years (71–91 years), and there was a median BMI of 25.35 (15.56–35.16). 50% of cases had a poor functional capacity before fracture of below four metabolic equivalents. The median onset time of acute cholecystitis was five days (2–14 days) after fracture, including five cases before orthopaedic surgery and five cases after orthopaedic surgery. All patients had anorexia and fever during the course of the disease. In seven cases of calculous cholecystitis, two underwent percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage, and one underwent percutaneous cholecystostomy. Two cases of calculous cholecystitis had poor prognosis; one died 49 days after fracture operation, and the reason for death was multiple organ failure caused by severe infection. The other one developed acute cerebellar infarction after gallbladder surgery through treatment in an intensive care unit and neurology department. The case was discharged with dysphasia, and the duration from fracture to discharge was 92 days. Conclusion This is the first study on the characteristics of acute cholecystitis in older patients with hip fracture in China. The incidence of acute cholecystitis in our study was 0.13%, with a high risk of in-hospital mortality and elevated hospitalisation costs. Our 10 cases with hip fractures accompanied by acute cholecystitis have common characteristics of poor-to-moderate functional capacity before fracture, increased blood glucose levels and enhanced protein metabolism after fracture. The death and the severe case have similar characteristics of low BMI, multiple underlying diseases, high plasma osmotic pressure and calculous cholecystitis, which occurred after orthopaedic surgery. These issues require attention and prompt, active intervention. Related issues require further research.

Abstract Background Endometriosis is a common gynecological disease in women of childbearing age. Commonly used treatment methods, such as endocrine and surgical therapies, display poor therapeutic effects with a high relapse probability. Thus, novel treatments for endometriosis are required. Methods In our study, polydopamine (PDA), letrozole (LTZ), and agarose (AG) hydrogels were combined to construct an injectable hydrogel with near-infrared controlled drug delivery named LTZ-PDA@AG hydrogel for endometriosis treatment. The release of letrozole can be accurately controlled by the near-infrared light intensity, exposure duration, polydopamine concentration, and hydrogel composition. Meanwhile, we isolated endometrial stromal cells from endometrium in patients with endometriosis, and constructed the rats’ model of endometriosis to verify the biological effects of LTZ-PDA@AG hydrogel. Results Owing to the sufficiently deep penetration of near-infrared light, the LTZ-PDA@AG hydrogel displayed a high temperature increase for efficient photothermal therapy. In addition, high local temperatures can further enhance the diffusion and penetration of letrozole, thereby achieving excellent therapeutic effect in vivo. Importantly, the in vivo and vitro test demonstrated the capacity of the nanocomposite hydrogel for endocrine-photothermal synergistic therapy and the biocompatibility. Conclusion Our work proposes a novel concept for precision endometriosis therapy by photothermal-enhanced endocrine therapy for endometriosis, which is proposed for the first time for the treatment of endometriosis and demonstrates excellent potential for further clinical translation. A global gravity field model (GGM) is essential to be validated with ground-based or airborne observational data for the accurate application of the GGM at a regional scale. Furthermore, accurately understanding the commission errors between the GGM and observational data are crucial for improving regional gravity fields. Taking the North China region as an example, to circumvent the omission errors, it is necessary to unify the spatial resolutions of the EIGEN-6C4 model and terrestrial gravity observational data to 110 km (determined by the distribution of gravity stations) by employing the spherical harmonic function for the EIGEN-6C4 model and the Slepian basis function for the gravity data, respectively. However, the application of spherical harmonic function expansions in the gravity model results in the Gibbs phenomenon, which may be a primary factor contributing to commission errors and impedes the accurate validation of the EIGEN-6C4 model with terrestrial gravity data. To effectively mitigate this issue, this study proposes a combination approach of window function filtering and regional eigenvalue constraint (based on the Slepian basis). Utilizing the EIGEN-6C4 gravity model to derive the gravity disturbance field at a resolution of 110 km (with spherical harmonic expansion up to the 180th degree and order), the combination approach effectively suppresses over 90% of high-degree (above the 120th degree) Gibbs phenomena. This approach also reduces signal leakage outside the region, thus enhancing the spatial accuracy of the regional gravity disturbance field. A subsequent comparison of the regional gravity disturbance field derived from the true model and terrestrial gravity data in North China indicates excellent consistency, with a root mean squared error (RMSE) of 0.80 mGal. This validation confirms that the combined approach of window function filtering and regional eigenvalue constraints effectively mitigates the Gibbs phenomenon and yields precise regional gravity fields. This approach is anticipated to significantly benefit scientific applications such as improving the accuracy of regional elevation benchmarks and accurately inverting the Earth’s internal structure.

The synergy of adsorption and photocatalysis is a good method to remove organic pollutants in wastewater. In recent decades, persistent photocatalysis has gained considerable interest for its ability to sustain the catalytic degradation of organic pollutants in the dark. Herein, we report three different TiO2 nanomaterials to remove tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH) in solution. We found that the removal ability of TiO2, Ni-TiO2, and Ag/Ni-TiO2 is 8.8 mg/g, 13.9 mg/g and 23.4 mg/g, respectively, when the initial concentration of TCH is 50 mg/L. Chemical adsorption could be the rate-determining step in the TCH adsorption process. Moreover, Ag nanoparticles dispersed on Ni doped TiO2 surface act as traps to capture photo-generated electrons upon illumination with indoor light. The holes in Ag/Ni-TiO2 serve as critical oxidative species in TCH degradation under dark conditions. This work provides new insights into the design of persistent photocatalysts that can be activated by weak illumination and degrade organic pollutants in wastewater after sunset.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) suggests the “Reference-Scaled Average Bioequivalence” (RSABE) method in the average bioequivalence (ABE) study of highly variable drugs. The classic sample size estimation method for grouping sequential design (GSD) of the RSABE method is a single-stage sample size multiplied by the inflation factor. This study proposed a new method for calculating the sample size for the GSD of the RSABE: using simulation experiments directly. In this work, our focal point is on a two-stage GSD that adheres to the Pocock guideline, comprising a single interim analysis and a final analysis. We consider that the sample size of the two stages is equal; that is, the interim analysis is carried out at 50% of the information fraction. Extensive Monte Carlo simulations have shown that the new method is more accurate in estimating sample size than the inflation factor method, and the type I error rate is controlled below 5% in all conditions. In 90% power semireplicate studies, the average sample size required for the Pocock design is only 40% to 90% of the single-stage design sample size.

Respiratory motion-induced vertebral movements can adversely impact intraoperative spine surgery, resulting in inaccurate positional information of the target region and unexpected damage during the operation. In this paper, we propose a novel deep learning architecture for respiratory motion prediction, which can adapt to different patients. The proposed method utilizes an LSTM-AE with attention mechanism network that can be trained using few-shot datasets during operation. To ensure real-time performance, a dimension reduction method based on the respiration-induced physical movement of spine vertebral bodies is introduced. The experiment collected data from prone-positioned patients under general anaesthesia to validate the prediction accuracy and time efficiency of the LSTM-AE-based motion prediction method. The experimental results demonstrate that the presented method (RMSE: 4.39%) outperforms other methods in terms of accuracy within a learning time of 2 min. The maximum predictive errors under the latency of 333 ms with respect to the x, y, and z axes of the optical camera system were 0.13, 0.07, and 0.10 mm, respectively, within a motion range of 2 mm.

The accuracy of instructions for the extraction of large open caissons directly affects the construction quality and safety. This study is focused on developing a smart construction methodology for predicting open caisson excavation instructions. The proposed approach aims to reduce the errors in excavation instructions attributable to the subjective and varying experiences of decision-makers. The multilabel classification task of predicting the instructions of large open caisson excavation is accomplished through the problem analysis. The study conducted a comparative analysis of a multilayer perceptron model, a classifier chain model, and a multilabel K-nearest neighbor model (MLKNN) based on Hamming loss and accuracy. The results revealed that MLKNN exhibits significant differences from the other models and is most suitable for predicting open caisson excavation instructions. Furthermore, the traditional MLKNN model was improved by refining the normalization and distance measurement methods for the open caisson scenario. The prediction accuracy of the improved MLKNN model is 89.04% for the excavation instructions and 98.63% for the nonexcavation decisions. The successful prediction of excavation instructions for a large open caisson can compensate for the lack of data mining capability of the existing monitoring system. This can reduce construction risks. Finally, this study discussed the robustness of the improved MLKNN in a real project, highlighting the model’s high accuracy during the midstage of open caisson construction.

With the development of new urban power systems, the centralized-distributed hierarchical partition management architecture has gradually become a consensus. Existing hierarchical partition methods are mostly static. And if the partition results are determined, it will remain unchanged for a relatively long time. However, the new type power system experiences more frequent and larger fluctuations in power generation and load, requiring dynamic responses to the system’s real-time operation. In this case, traditional partition methods are no longer applicable, and new hierarchical partition methods for system operation need to be adopted. Therefore, this paper proposes a power balance mechanism of urban power system based on dynamic hierarchical partition method, including dynamic hierarchical partition method and corresponding decoupling power balance models. The former can continuously change the results of hierarchical partition according to the real-time state of the power system, so as to reduce the inter-regional liaison cost and improve the economy. The latter improves the independence of the region and the security of the power system through decoupling power balance. Eventually, the proposed method is validated with an modified Hawaii 37-node system.

Abstract Degradation and reprocessing of thermoset polymers have long been intractable challenges to meet a sustainable future. Star strategies via dynamic cross‐linking hydrogen bonds and/or covalent bonds can afford reprocessable thermosets, but often at the cost of properties or even their functions. Herein, a simple strategy coined as hyperbranched dynamic crosslinking networks (HDCNs) toward in‐practice engineering a petroleum‐based epoxy thermoset into degradable, reconfigurable, and multifunctional vitrimer is provided. The special characteristics of HDCNs involve spatially topological crosslinks for solvent adaption and multi‐dynamic linkages for reversible behaviors. The resulting vitrimer displays mild room‐temperature degradation to dimethylacetamide and can realize the cycling of carbon fiber and epoxy powder from composite. Besides, they have supra toughness and high flexural modulus, high transparency as well as fire‐retardancy surpassing their original thermoset. Notably, it is noted in a chance‐following that ethanol molecule can induce the reconstruction of vitrimer network by ester‐exchange, converting a stiff vitrimer into elastomeric feature, and such material records an ultrahigh modulus (5.45 GPa) at −150 °C for their ultralow‐temperature condition uses. This is shaping up to be a potentially sustainable advanced material to address the post‐consumer thermoset waste, and also provide a newly crosslinked mode for the designs of high‐performance polymer.

This article explores the impact mechanism of different types of environmental regulations on corporate green technology innovation (GTI). The research focuses on analyzing three types of environmental regulations: command based environmental regulation (ER1), market-oriented environmental regulation (ER2), and voluntary environmental regulation (ER3), and how they affect corporate GTI. This study selected enterprise GTI as the dependent variable and measured it by the number of applications for green invention patents and green utility model patents. The independent variables are the three types of environmental regulations mentioned above. According to data from Chinese A-share listed companies. Using benchmark regression models to analyze the impact of different environmental regulations on GTI, and constructing a moderating effect model to study the role of corporate R&D investment and government support in the process of environmental regulations affecting GTI. The results indicate that (1) ER1, ER2, and ER3 can all promote enterprise GTI, and the three environmental regulatory methods have a better synergistic effect. (2) R&D investment has a positive correlation with the relationship between ER2 and GTI, and a negative correlation with ER 3 and ER 1. (3) There are differences in the GTI performance of enterprises in different regions, ownership nature, factor density, and industry types under the influence of environmental regulations. (4) The impact of environmental regulatory policies on corporate GTI is mainly short-term. This study provides a new perspective on how environmental regulations affect corporate GTI, especially in the context of developing countries like China. The research findings emphasize the role of different types of environmental regulations in incentivizing corporate GTI, while also pointing out factors that governments need to consider when formulating environmental policies, such as regional differences and corporate characteristics, which are of great significance for promoting green development of enterprises and achieving broader sustainable development goals.

Diabetes and depression are common comorbid conditions that impose a substantial health burden. Acupuncture may effectively improve symptoms in patients with diabetes and depression, but the underlying mechanism remains unclear. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) may play a vital role in the effects of acupuncture on diabetes and depression comorbidity. This review summarizes the potential role of BDNF in acupuncture for diabetes and depression comorbidity. BDNF appears to exert its effects via the BDNF-TrkB-ERK-CREB signaling pathway. BDNF levels are reduced in diabetes and depression, and acupuncture may increase BDNF expression, improving symptoms and glycemic control. High-quality research is needed to validate the efficacy of acupuncture for diabetes and depression comorbidity. Randomized controlled trials and mechanistic studies should investigate the BDNF pathway and other potential mechanisms. Improved understanding of the links between diabetes, depression and acupuncture may enable targeted and individualized patient care. Earlier diagnosis and management of diabetes and depression comorbidity should also be a priority.

Background: Esophageal squamous carcinoma (ESCC) is one of the most malignant cancers in the world due to nodal metastasis. Therefore, a reasonable nodal staging system is extremely important for further treatment strategies. Recently the positive lymph node ratio (PLNR) is an important prognostic factor in various solid tumors Method: In this study, we investigated the clinical significance of the PLNR in stage II∼III ESCC patients. We collected the pathological characteristics of 272 stage II∼III ESCC patients from the SEER database from 2004–2016. ROC curves were used to calculate the best cutoff value of the PLNR; Pearson's Chi-square (χ2) and Fisher's exact probability tests were used to compare the clinical baseline and characteristics of patients. For continuous variables, Student's t-test and ANOVA were performed to evaluate statistical significance. Clinical outcomes were estimated by using the Kaplan‒Meier method and log-rank test. Furthermore, univariate and multivariate Cox regression models were utilized to analyze independent prognostic factors of ESCC patients. Results: Consequently, advanced ESCC patients were effectively stratified into two groups by prognosis using a PLNR cutoff value of 0.15 (P value = 0.04). The median survival time of patients with PLNR 45 mm (HR 1.32, 95 % CI 1.02–1.70), N stage (HR 1.41, 95 % CI 0.98–2.01) and PLNR ≥0.15 (HR 1.35, 95 % CI 0.87–1.74) were independent risk factors for prognostic prediction in ESCC patients. Detecting heavy metals in edible oil is time-consuming and unfriendly to analysts and the environment due to the heavy fat content of oil. This work investigates a rapid and green method for extracting trace concentrations of copper, arsenic and lead in edible oils. To improve the method sensitivity and reduce detection interference, the method was optimized by studying the influence of several parameters, such as the extractant type, extraction time, temperature and mode, concentration of L-cysteine hydrochloride, sedimentation mode and ICP-MS detection conditions. The limits of detection (LOD) of copper, arsenic and lead in the oil samples were 0.027, 0.010 and 0.004 μg/kg, respectively. Recovery tests were performed to determine the method's accuracy, with recovery percentages in the 95.1–104.1% range. The relative standard deviation (RSD, n = 6) of three analyte elements was 1.74–2.05%. The proposed method does not need corrosive or highly toxic organic reagents and completes the extraction process of three heavy metals in edible oil in 5 minutes. The developed green method is suitable for rapid extraction and determination of heavy metals in oil samples from different sources.

Abstract Background Depression is a prevalent mental health disorder with a complex etiology and substantial public health implications. Early identification of individuals at risk for depression is crucial for effective intervention and prevention efforts. This study aimed to develop a predictive model for depression by integrating demographic factors (age, race, marital status, income), lifestyle factors (sleep duration, physical activity), and physiological measures (hypertension, blood lead levels). A key objective was to explore the role of physical activity and blood lead levels as predictors of current depression risk. Methods Data were extracted from the 2007–2014 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). We applied a logistic regression analysis to these data to assess the predictive value of the above eight factors for depression to create the predictive model. Results The predictive model had bootstrap-corrected c-indexes of 0.68 (95% CI, 0.67–0.70) and 0.66 (95% CI, 0.64–0.68) for the training and validation cohorts, respectively, and well-calibrated curves. As the risk of depression increased, the proportion of participants with 1.76 ~ 68.90 µg/L blood lead gradually increased, and the proportion of participants with 0.05 ~ 0.66 µg/L blood lead gradually decreased. In addition, the proportion of sedentary participants increased as the risk of depression increased. Conclusions This study developed a depression risk assessment model that incorporates physical activity and blood lead factors. This model is a promising tool for screening, assessing, and treating depression in the general population. However, because the corrected c-indices of the predictive model have not yet reached an acceptable threshold of 0.70, caution should be exercised when drawing conclusions. Further research is required to improve the performance of this model.

Abstract The MIR663AHG gene encodes both miR663AHG and miR663a. While miR663a contributes to the defense of host cells against inflammation and inhibits colon cancer development, the biological function of lncRNA miR663AHG has not been previously reported. In this study, the subcellular localization of lncRNA miR663AHG was determined by RNA-FISH. miR663AHG and miR663a were measured by qRT-PCR. The effects of miR663AHG on the growth and metastasis of colon cancer cells were investigated in vitro and in vivo. CRISPR/Cas9, RNA pulldown, and other biological assays were used to explore the underlying mechanism of miR663AHG. We found that miR663AHG was mainly distributed in the nucleus of Caco2 and HCT116 cells and the cytoplasm of SW480 cells. The expression level of miR663AHG was positively correlated with the level of miR663a (r = 0.179, P = 0.015) and significantly downregulated in colon cancer tissues relative to paired normal tissues from 119 patients (P

Objective: This study aimed to develop polysaccharide-based composite antibacterial films with excellent antibacterial and physicochemical properties to effectively improve the shelf life of food. Methods: Carrageenan, agar, konjac gum and pectin were used as film-forming substrates and natamycin and nano-MgO were used as antibacterialagents to investigate the effects of adding antimicrobial agents on the physical, mechanical and antibacterial properties of the films and the preservation of grapes. Results: After the addition of antibacterial agents, the film thickness, tensile strength and haze increased, air permeability increased and elongation at break decreased, water solubility, swelling and moisture permeability decreased, light transmission and gloss decreased and the color tended to yellow-green, good compatibility with the film filler. It can effectively inhibit the growth and reproduction of Trichoderma, Rhizopus, Aspergillus, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Shigella and Salmonella, among which carrageenan/natamycin/nano-MgO composite membrane （CNM） and agar/natamycin/nano-MgO composite membrane （ANM） with good indicators can delay the water loss rate of grapes, improve the decline in hardness and the reduction of soluble solids content, and ensure the appearance and nutritional quality of grapes. Conclusion: ANM and CNM films are suitable for use as antibacterial packaging materials to extend the shelf life of food products, and are expected to be developed into fruit and vegetable preservation films with antibacterial preservation functions.
