Abstract The synthesis of facial sketch-photo has important applications in practical life, such as crime investigation. Many convolutional neural networks (CNNs) based methods have been proposed to address this issue. However, due to the substantial modal differences between sketch and photo, the CNN’s insensitivity to global information, and insufficient utilization of hierarchical features, synthesized photos struggle to balance both identity preservation and image quality. Recently, State Space Sequence Models (SSMs) have achieved exciting results in computer vision (CV) tasks. Inspired by SSMs, we design a hybrid CNN–SSM model called FaceMamba for the Face Sketch-Photo Synthesis (FSPS) task. It includes an original Face Vision Mamba Attention for modeling in latent space using SSM. Additionally, it incorporates a general auxiliary method called Attention Feature Injection that combines encoding features, decoding features, and external auxiliary features using attention mechanisms. FaceMamba combines Mamba’s modeling ability for long-range dependencies with CNN’s powerful local feature extraction ability, and utilizes hierarchical features at the appropriate position. Adequate experimental and evaluation results reveal that FaceMamba has strong competitiveness in FSPS task, achieving the best balance between identity preservation and image quality.

Enhancing marine carbon sequestration through nearshore aquaculture is a novel scientific approach to addressing global climate change and facilitating low-carbon development. Scientifically estimating the quantity and price of China’s marine fisheries carbon sinks provides a crucial foundation for promoting marine carbon trading. In this article, firstly, the long-term carbon storage capacity of China’s marine carbon sequestration fishery available from 1979 to 2022 for carbon trading is calculated. And then a transcendental logarithmic production function model incorporating ridge regression analysis, and an accounting equation for estimating the shadow price of China’s marine fisheries carbon sequestration are established. Simultaneously, the distortion level of China’s marine fisheries carbon sequestration prices from 2015 to 2022 is measured, and the reasons and economic effects of the distortion in prices are analyzed. The research results show that: 1) The capacity of a net carbon sequestration in China’s marine carbon sequestration fishery for carbon trading, ranged from 78,869.01 tons in 1979 to 1,232,762.27 tons in 2022, with an average annual capacity of 592,472.07 tons and an average annual growth rate of 7.48%; 2) The price of China’s marine fisheries carbon sinks increased from 39.46 CNY in 1979 to 375.96 CNY in 2022, with an average annual growth rate of 6.00%. The average annual price was 167.87 CNY; 3) There were varying degrees of distortion in China’s marine fisheries carbon sequestration prices from 2015 to 2022, which decreased annually with the construction of China’s own carbon trading market and the practice of trading. To realize the value of marine fisheries carbon sequestration, it is necessary to actively promote the development of voluntary emission reduction markets, develop carbon trading futures markets, and strengthen the dynamic monitoring system for resources.

Tunnels play a vital role in enhancing traffic flow and supporting public transportation systems. However, the discharge of polluted air and waste heat from vehicles passing through tunnels significantly raises the temperature inside, presenting challenges in terms of occupant comfort, tunnel safety, and infrastructure integrity. Therefore, ensuring proper temperature control is essential for their efficient operation. This study aims to investigate the phenomenon of temperature rise in ultra-long tunnels during normal operations, as limited research has been conducted in this area. The Shanghai Yangtze River Tunnel serves as a case study, utilizing temperature and air velocity data collected throughout the year (2021) from the management company. The analysis reveals that the temperature distribution near the tunnel exit is influenced by outdoor temperature fluctuations and traffic volume. The highest temperatures occur on 25 August (39.74 °C) during peak traffic hours. On-site measurements of tunnel temperature, humidity, and air velocity during winter and summer seasons yield the following results. During winter, the air temperature and wall temperature inside the tunnel experience significant increases along its length. The air temperature rises by approximately 11 °C from the entrance to the exit, while the wall temperature increases by about 15 °C. In contrast, during summer, the air temperature only rises by 2.7 °C, and the wall temperature increases by around 3 °C. Consequently, the humidity decreases along the tunnel, and this decrease is correlated with the magnitude of temperature increase. Furthermore, measurements of air velocity indicate that natural and traffic-induced winds contribute to the overall airflow inside the tunnel. A temperature data logger installed in the tunnel recorded temperature changes during the period of pandemic lockdown and subsequent recovery, spanning the spring and summer seasons. During the lockdown period, there was a relatively small increase in temperature along the tunnel, suggesting that vehicle heat dissipation is the primary factor contributing to temperature rise inside. Additionally, a method is proposed to predict the cross-sectional temperature of the tunnel using measured air velocities.

An important feature of a legged robot is its dynamic motion performance. Traditional methods often improve the dynamic motion performance by reducing the moment of inertia of robot legs or by adopting quasi-direct drive actuators. This paper proposes a method to enhance the dynamic performance of a legged robot by transmission mechanism. Specifically, we present a unique six-link leg mechanism that can implement a large output motion using a small drive motion. This unique feature can enhance the robots’ dynamic motion capability. Experiments with a hexapod robot verified the effectiveness of the mechanism. The experimental results showed that, when the steering gear of the robot rotates 1°, the toe can lift 7 mm (5% of body height), and the maximum running speed of the robot can reach 390 mm/s (130% of the moveable body length per second).

To mitigate the decline of fishery resources and the exacerbation of water pollution in Chinese lakes and to enhance the potential and sustainable use of lake fisheries, the Chinese government has actively implemented principles and models of ecosystem-based lake fishery management. This includes promoting ecological aquaculture techniques and the "retiring pens to restore lakes" policy. To assess the effects of ecosystem-based management on Chinese lake fisheries, data from 2007 to 2020 were collected for the Qiandao Lake, Tai Lake, Hongze Lake, Luoma Lake, and Gaobao Lake in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The study employed Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to assess fishing efficiency through a static input-output efficiency model. Additionally, the Malmquist index and distance functions were used for a dynamic comparison of total factor productivity (TFP) across the five lake management models. The results indicate that trends in technological progress, scale efficiency, and TFP were consistent across the lakes from 2013 to 2020. Qiandao Lake, Tai Lake, and Hongze Lake showed a positive average annual growth rate in TFP, with Qiandao Lake having the highest average annual growth rate of 13.2%. In contrast, Gaobao and Luoma Lakes experienced a negative growth rate in TFP. Furthermore, Qiandao Lake exhibited significantly higher technical efficiency than the other four lakes, effectively achieving an efficient state, followed by Hongze Lake. The study demonstrates that technological progress and variations in scale efficiency are the primary factors driving the increase in TFP in fisheries. Promoting ecosystem-based "fishing for water conservation" aquaculture techniques and restricting aquaculture scale through the "retiring pens to restore lakes" policy contribute to enhancing TFP in ecological fisheries.
