Nessa região, a maioria dos solos de terras baixas cultivados com arroz irrigado, permanecem tradicionalmente em pousio no período outono/inverno, devido ao seu hidromorfismo e pela dificuldade de encontrar plantas de coberturas que se adaptem a essa característica. Nos últimos anos, observou-se o aumento da adoção de trevo persa (Trifolium resupinatum L.). Porém, pouco se sabe sobre os benefícios que essa leguminosa hibernal pode deixar para o sistema. Nesse sentido, o objetivo desse trabalho foi avaliar no Capítulo 1: a disponibilidade de nutrientes no solo, a nutrição de plantas e a produtividade de grãos de arroz irrigado em sucessão ao trevo persa no período outono/inverno em um Planossolo; e, no Capítulo 2: avaliar o efeito de épocas de manejo químico do trevo persa sobre os componentes de desenvolvimento da cultura do arroz irrigado e a disponibilidade de nutrientes na solução do solo. Foram utilizados os seguintes tratamentos: Capítulo1: em condições de campo, trevo persa e pousio, compostos de 4 doses de N, sendo: 0, 60, 120, 180 kg N ha-1 e Capítulo 2: Experimento de casa de vegetação com trevo persa e pousio, com 4 épocas de manejo químico, (0, 15, 30, 45) dias antes da semeadura do arroz irrigado, com duas doses de N, 0 e 150 kg N ha-1 . O cultivo no período hibernal de trevo persa aumenta a disponibilidade de N mineral no solo, reduz em 23% a dose de máxima eficiência econômica de N para o híbrido de arroz estabelecido em sucessão. O manejo químico do trevo persa aos 45 dias antes da semeadura do arroz reduziu em 58% a quantidade de matéria seca no período de outono/inverno, enquanto o seu manejo químico mais próximo da semeadura do arroz resulta em maior teor de N mineral na solução do solo. O cultivo dessa leguminosa aumenta a disponibilidade de N mineral na solução do solo em 108% no período vegetativo de desenvolvimento do arroz. Os maiores intervalos de manejo químico aumentaram também o teor de fósforo e potássio na solução do solo no período vegetativo de desenvolvimento de plantas de arroz. Dessa forma, o uso da leguminosa hibernal em sistemas de produção de arroz irrigado no Sul do Brasil é uma alternativa promissora, pois possui adaptação ao excesso hídrico, alta capacidade de produção de biomassa e contribui com o aporte de N ao solo com reflexos na menor necessidade de adubação nitrogenada na cultura do arroz. Este contexto possibilita maior rentabilidade econômica aos orizicultores e menor potencial impacto no ambiente em decorrência do menor aporte de N. In recent years, there has been an increase in the adoption of Persian clover (Trifolium resupinatum L.). However, little is known about the benefits that this winter legume can bring to the system. In this sense, the objective of this work was to evaluate in Chapter 1: the availability of nutrients in the soil, plant nutrition and the productivity of irrigated rice grains in succession to the Persian clover in the autumn/winter period in a Albaqualf; and, in Chapter 2: to evaluate the effect of times of chemical management of the persian clover on the development components of the irrigated rice and the availability of nutrients in the soil solution. The following treatments were used: Chapter 1: under field conditions, persian clover and fallow, composed of 4 doses of N, being: 0, 60, 120, 180 kg N ha-1 and Chapter 2: Greenhouse experiment with persian clover and fallow, with 4 times of chemical management, (0, 15, 30, 45) days before sowing of irrigated rice, with two doses of N, 0 and 150 kg N ha-1 . The cultivation of persian clover in the winter period increases the availability of mineral N in the soil, reducing by 23% the dose of maximum economic efficiency of N for the rice hybrid established in succession. The chemical management of persian clover 45 days before rice sowing reduced the amount of dry matter in the autumn/winter period by 58%, while its chemical management closer to rice sowing results in a higher mineral N content in the solution. from soil. The cultivation of this legume increases the availability of mineral N in the soil solution by 108% in the vegetative period of rice development. The longest intervals of chemical management also increased the phosphorus and potassium content in the soil solution in the vegetative period of rice plant development. Thus, the use of the winter legume in irrigated rice production systems in southern Brazil is a promising alternative, as it has adaptation to excess water, high biomass production capacity and contributes to the contribution of N to the soil with minor effects need for nitrogen fertilization in rice. This context allows for greater economic profitability to rice farmers and less potential impact on the environment due to the lower N input.
