A total of 100 cases of normal endometrium were used as the control group, including 52 cases in the proliferative stage and 48 cases in the secretory stage. Transvaginal real-time shear wave elastography was performed in all four groups.Results: Emean, Emax and Esd were expressed as the average standard deviation. Among the control group, the results were 26.24± 9.74, 38.09± 9.18, and 4.25± 2.73 kPa, respectively, in the proliferative endometrium cases and 12.51± 7.46, 27.22± 11.32, 4.40± 2.52 kPa, respectively, in the secretory endometrium cases. Among the experimental group, the result was 15.68± 8.18, 27.28± 10.28 and 3.62± 1.81 kPa respectively in the endometrial polyps cases; 21.20 ± 12.57, 36.32 ± 15.04, and 5.09 ± 3.93 kPa in the endometrial hyperplasia cases; 49.36± 25.51, 86.66± 42.27 and 14.86± 10.63 kPa in the endometrial cancer cases. The difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). When the truncation values of Emean, Emax and Esd were 28.50, 52.45 and 9.05 kPa, respectively, to distinguish between normal endometrium and endometrial cancer, Emax has the highest diagnostic value.Conclusion: Real-time SWE technology might be used as an auxiliary method in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of endometrial cancer. Here, we report a novel technique via accessory pancreatic duct (APD) approach to simultaneously release chronic pancreatitis-associated pancreatic stricture and correct anomalous pancreaticobiliary junction (APBJ). Due to APBJ and stricture of proximal main pancreatic duct, the APD turned out to be compensatory expansion. The stiff stenosis was dissected along the axial of APD using needle-knife electrocautery or holmium laser ablation, and then the supporting stent was placed into the pancreatic body duct. By doing so, the outflow channels of pancreatic and biliary ducts were exquisitely separated. Patients and methods: Two patients aged 69 and 71 years underwent stricture dissection and stent insertion for fluent drainage of pancreatic juice. The postoperative course was marked by complete abdominal pain relief and normal blood amylase recovery. In the first patient, wire-guided needle-knife electrocautery under fluoroscopic control was applied to release refractory stricture. The second patient was treated by SpyGlass pancreatoscopy-guided holmium laser ablation to lift pancreatic stricture. Results: Plastic stents in APD were removed at 3 months after surgery, and magnetic resonance imaging at 6 months showed strictly normal aspect of the pancreatic duct. Conclusion: Although both cases were successful without severe complications, we recommend this approach only for selected patients with short refractory pancreatic strictures due to chronic pancreatitis. In order to prevent severe complications (bleeding, perforation or pancreatitis), direct-view endoscopy-guided electrotomy needs to be developed. Ent -Sauchinone is a bioactive lignan isolated from Saururus chinensis (Lour.) Baill could suppress the migration and invasion of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells. The study involves the structural modification of ent -sauchinone to augment its inhibitory effect on HCC progression and to investigate the mechanisms involved. In this study, a series of ent -sauchinone based amide derivatives were synthesised and the anticancer activities were evaluated against two hepatoma cell lines. Among them, compound 3 exhibited excellent resistance to migration and invasion by reversing the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and inhibiting the phosphorylation of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) and the expression of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). Molecular docking results indicate that compound 3 may exert its inhibitory effect on the progression of liver cancer by acting on the DNA-binding domain of STAT3. These results suggested that compound 3 could be a potential anticancer agent, especially for metastatic cancer therapy.

The direct dehydrogenation of alkanes to olefins under mild conditions is challenging due to the inert nature of alkyl C─H bonds. Herein, an efficient photocatalytic system is developed for propane direct dehydrogenation (PDH) to propylene, consisting of ≈1.30 nm sized PtO 2 clusters immobilized on a layered double hydroxide -derived ZnO/Al 2 O 3 support (LD-Pt n ). Under UV excitation (365 nm), photogenerated holes in ZnO migrate to Pt sites at PtO 2 /ZnO interfaces, thereby activating and dissociating C─H bonds in propane. A propylene production rate of almost 1 mmol g -1  h -1 and a nearly 100% selectivity are achieved for the compositionally optimized LD-Pt n photocatalyst. Control experiments and density functional theory calculations further verify that the excellent photocatalytic PDH performance of LD-Pt n stems from synergism between ZnO semiconductor and the loaded Pt species. This study aims to investigate the therapeutic effect and mechanism of Daotan Xixin Decoction on APP/PS1 mice. Twelve APP/PS1 male mice were randomized into four groups: APP/PS1 and low-, medium-, and high-dose Daotan Xixin Decoction. Three C57BL/6 wild-type mice were used as the control group. The learning and memory abilities of mice in each group were examined by the Morris water maze test. The pathological changes of hippocampal nerve cells were observed by hematoxylin-eosin staining and Nissl staining. Immunohistochemistry was employed to detect the expression of β-amyloid(Aβ)&#95;(1-42) in the hippocampal tissue. The high-dose Daotan Xixin Decoction group with significant therapeutic effects and the model group were selected for high-throughput sequencing. The differentially expressed gene(DEG) analysis, Gene Ontology(GO) analysis, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG) pathway enrichment analysis, and Gene Set Variation Analysis(GSVA) were performed on the sequencing results. RT-qPCR and Western blot were conducted to determine the mRNA and protein levels, respectively, of some DEGs. Compared with the APP/PS1 group, Daotan Xixin Decoction at different doses significantly improved the learning and memory abilities of APP/PS1 mice, ameliorated the neuropathological damage in the CA1 region of the hippocampus, increased the number of neurons, and decreased the deposition of Aβ&#95;(1-42) in the brain. A total of 1 240 DEGs were screened out, including 634 genes with up-regulated expression and 606 genes with down-regulated expression. The GO analysis predicted the biological processes including RNA splicing and protein folding, the cellular components including spliceosome complexes and nuclear spots, and the molecular functions including unfolded protein binding and heat shock protein binding. The KEGG pathway enrichment analysis revealed the involvement of neurodegenerative disease pathways, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and splicing complexes. Further GSVA pathway enrichment analysis showed that the down-regulated pathways involved nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB)-mediated tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) signaling pathway, UV response, and unfolded protein response, while the up-regulated pathways involved the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. The results of RT-qPCR and Western blot showed that compared with the APP/PS1 group, Daotan Xixin Decoction at different doses down-regulated the mRNA and protein levels of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(STAT3), NF-κB, and interleukin-6(IL-6) in the hippocampus. In conclusion, Daotan Xixin Decoction can improve the learning and memory abilities of APP/PS1 mice by regulating the STAT3/NF-κB/IL-6 signaling pathway.

The evaluation of the mechanical performance of fly ash-recycled mortar (FARM) is a necessary condition to ensure the efficient utilization of recycled fine aggregates. This article describes the design of nine mix proportions of FARMs with a low water/cement ratio and screens six mix proportions with reasonable flowability. The compressive strengths of FARMs were tested, and the influence of the water/cement ratio ( w / c ) and age on the compressive strength was analyzed. Meanwhile, a backpropagation neural network (BPNN) model optimized by the grey wolf optimizer (GWO), namely the GWO-BPNN model, was established to predict the compressive strength of FARM. The input layer of the model consisted of w / c , a cement/sand ratio, water reducer, age, and fly ash content, while the output layer was the compressive strength. The data set consisted of 150 sets from this article and existing research in the literature, of which 70% is used for model training and 30% for model validation. The results show that compared with the traditional BPNN, the coefficient of determination ( R 2 ) of GWO-BPNN increases from 0.85 to 0.93, and the mean squared error (MSE) of model training decreases from 0.018 to 0.015. Meanwhile, the convergence iterations of model validation decrease from 108 to 65. This indicates that GWO improved the prediction accuracy and computational efficiency of BPNN. The model results of characteristic heat, kernel density estimation, scatter matrix, and the SHAP value all indicated that the w / c was strongly negatively correlated with compressive strength, while the sand/cement ratio and age were strongly positively correlated with compressive strength. However, the relationship between the contents of fly ash, the water reducer, and the compressive strength was not obvious.

Introduction: Triple semicircular canal plugging is effective in controlling vertigo in patients with Meniere's disease, however, whether the rate of causing hearing loss during treatment is still not uniform. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of Triple semicircular canal plugging (TSCP) on hearing in Meniere's disease (MD) patients., Methods: Databases Reviewed were PubMed, EMBASE, Scopus, Clinical Trials, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, CNKI, Wanfang, and VIP. The study reported on the duration, follow-up time, hearing loss, and vertigo control outcomes in MD patients evaluated by TSCP. Stata 17 software was used for data analysis and assessing the risk of bias., Results: This meta-analysis included 367 MD patients from 7 studies. TSCP efficiently alleviated vertigo with a rate of 99% (95% CI: 0.97, 1.00) and had a hearing loss rate of 22% (95% CI: 0.16, 0.28). Subgroup analysis revealed that for hearing loss, the proportion of patients with disease duration more than or less than 12 months was 14% (95% CI: 0.05, 0.26) and 24% (95% CI: 0.19, 0.29), respectively. For vertigo control, the rates were 100% (95% CI: 0.96, 1.00) and 99% (95% CI: 0.97, 1.00), respectively. For hearing loss, the follow-up time of MD patients more than or less than 24 months was 20% (95% CI: 0.07, 0.38) and 23% (95% CI: 0.18, 0.29), respectively. For vertigo control, the rates were 99% (95% CI: 0.95, 1.00) and 99% (95% CI: 0.97, 1.00), respectively. The duration of the disease and follow-up time had no significant impact on hearing loss and vertigo control rates., Conclusions: TSCP was efficient for vertigo control but with a risk of hearing loss. Allergic diseases are becoming increasingly common, and they are a threat to people's health. Exploring the distribution characteristics of allergen-specific immunoglobulin E (sIgE) in people from Sichuan province, southwest China, can provide clinical epidemiological data. This study enrolled 12,204 consecutive patients with suspected allergies from May 2018 to May 2021. Among the patients, 4206 were diagnosed with allergic rhinitis or asthma. The Rayto Lumiray 1600 detection system and sIgE and total IgE (tIgE) detection kits were used to measure the levels of nine common sIgE and tIgE. sIgE ≥ 0.35 IU/mL was considered positive. The sensitization rate of D1 ( Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus ) is the highest (22.97%), followed by D2 ( Dermatophagoides farinae ) (23.33%); M3 ( Aspergillus fumigatus ) has the lowest positive rate (1.5%). E5 ( Canis familiaris ) and I6 ( Blatella germanica ) exhibited relatively high sensitization rates (8.64% and 12.35%, respectively). Allergen sensitization was significantly higher in men than in women. Moreover, 90.3% of sensitization samples from D1 were combined with at least one of the other eight allergens. Similarly, a positive correlation was demonstrated between D1, D2, and E1 ( Felis domesticus ). In addition, patients with allergic rhinitis (91.88% and 91.54%, respectively), allergic asthma (72.44% and 74.01%, respectively), and allergic rhinitis with asthma (92.12% and 93.22%, respectively) were mainly sensitized to D1 and D2. D1, D2, I6, and E5 are the main allergens. Moreover, D1 and D2 are the main allergens in patients with respiratory allergic diseases. Objective: To explore the clinical characteristics and predictive factors for plastic bronchitis (PB) in children with severe Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (SMPP). Methods: A retrospective cohort enrolled children with a clinical diagnosis of SMPP who were treated at the Department of Respiratory Medicine of Tianjin Children's Hospital Machang District from January 1, 2018, to October 31, 2023. According to the bronchoscopy and pathological examination results, the patients were divided into 142 cases in the PB group and 274 cases in the non-PB group. The clinical manifestations, laboratory data, imaging findings, and treatments were analyzed.Mann-Whitney U test and Chi-square test were used to analyze the differences between the two groups, and multivariate Logistic regression was used to analyze the risk factors. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to explore the predictive value of PB in SMPP. Results: Among 416 SMPP children, there were 197 males and 219 females; PB group 142 cases, non-PB group 274 cases, the age of disease onset was (6.9±2.9) years and (6.6±2.8) years in the PB group and the non-PB group respectively. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that the dyspnea ( OR =2.97, 95% CI 1.35-6.55, P =0.007), the diminution of respiration ( OR =2.40, 95% CI 1.27-4.52, P =0.006), neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) ( OR =2.07, 95% CI 1.71-2.51, P <0.001), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) ( OR =1.01, 95% CI 1.00-1.01, P <0.001), mean platelet volume/platelet count (MPV/PLT) ( OR =1.39, 95% CI 1.13-1.71, P =0.002), pleural effusion ( OR =2.23, 95% CI 1.21-4.13, P =0.011),≥2/3 lobe consolidation ( OR =1.84, 95% CI 1.04-3.00, P =0.039) and atelectasis ( OR =1.98, 95% CI 1.02-3.48, P =0.044) were independent predictors of PB in children with SMPP. ROC curve analysis showed that the cut-off values for NLR, LDH and MPV/PLT in the diagnosis of PB were 2.79 (sensitivity 0.89, specificity 0.69, area under the curve (AUC)=0.86, P <0.001), 474 U/L (sensitivity 0.63, specificity 0.65, AUC=0.70, P =0.003) and 0.04 (sensitivity 0.75, specificity 0.53, AUC=0.68, P =0.005) respectively. Children in the PB group had longer hospital stays and corticosteroid treatment course than those in the non-PB group, the proportion of children in the PB group who received bronchoscopy treatment twice or more was higher (9 (8, 12) vs. 8 (6, 10) d, 7 (5, 8) vs . 6 (5, 7) d, 128 cases (90.1%) vs. 218 cases (79.6%), 106 cases (74.7%) vs. 54 cases (19.7%), Z =6.70, 5.06, χ 2 =7.48, 119.27, all P <0.05). Conclusions: The dyspnea, respiration diminution, NLR level elevation (>2.79) and pleural effusion were predictive factors for PB in children with SMPP. This provides a basis for the early identification of PB in children with SMPP.

Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) serves as a critical tool for high-resolution surface imaging, yet deciphering the atomic structures from STM images on multielement surfaces, such as oxides and carbides, remains a challenging task that heavily relies on the expertise and intuition of researchers. In this study, we introduce a data-driven method for rapid structural recognition from STM images. This method involves extracting structural features, filtering through a structural database, and matching with simulated STM images and surface energy analyses, thereby providing researchers with several of the most probable structures. We demonstrate the capabilities of this technique using our previously reported iron carbide grown on an Fe(110) crystal. By proposing a candidate structure set and establishing a comprehensive database linking STM images to corresponding structures and surface energies, we selected 6 out of more than 10 000 possible surfaces. On the basis of these 6 recommendations, researchers can conveniently determine the real surface structures. Our work provides an efficient tool for the structure recognition of STM images to construct surface structures, potentially serving as a universal auxiliary tool for STM structural analysis.

Accurately controlling the product selectivity in syngas conversion, especially increasing the olefin selectivity while minimizing C1 byproducts, remains a significant challenge. Epsilon Fe 2 C is deemed a promising candidate catalyst due to its inherently low CO 2 selectivity, but its use is hindered by its poor high-temperature stability. Herein, we report the successful synthesis of highly stable ε-Fe 2 C through a N-induced strategy utilizing pyrolysis of Prussian blue analogs (PBAs). This catalyst, with precisely controlled Mn promoter, not only achieved an olefin selectivity of up to 70.2% but also minimized the selectivity of C1 byproducts to 19.0%, including 11.9% CO 2 and 7.1% CH 4 . The superior performance of our ε-Fe 2 C-xMn catalysts, particularly in minimizing CO 2 formation, is largely attributed to the interface of dispersed MnO cluster and ε-Fe 2 C, which crucially limits CO to CO 2 conversion. Background: Inaccurate Forrest classification may significantly affect clinical outcomes, especially in high risk patients. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a real-time deep convolutional neural network (DCNN) system to assess the Forrest classification of peptic ulcer bleeding (PUB)., Methods: A training dataset (3868 endoscopic images) and an internal validation dataset (834 images) were retrospectively collected from the 900th Hospital, Fuzhou, China. In addition, 521 images collected from four other hospitals were used for external validation. Finally, 46 endoscopic videos were prospectively collected to assess the real-time diagnostic performance of the DCNN system, whose diagnostic performance was also prospectively compared with that of three senior and three junior endoscopists., Results: The DCNN system had a satisfactory diagnostic performance in the assessment of Forrest classification, with an accuracy of 91.2% (95%CI 89.5%-92.6%) and a macro-average area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.80 in the validation dataset. Moreover, the DCNN system could judge suspicious regions automatically using Forrest classification in real-time videos, with an accuracy of 92.0% (95%CI 80.8%-97.8%). The DCNN system showed more accurate and stable diagnostic performance than endoscopists in the prospective clinical comparison test. This system helped to slightly improve the diagnostic performance of senior endoscopists and considerably enhance that of junior endoscopists., Conclusion: The DCNN system for the assessment of the Forrest classification of PUB showed satisfactory diagnostic performance, which was slightly superior to that of senior endoscopists. Bimetallic alloy nanoparticles have garnered substantial attention for diverse catalytic applications owing to their abundant active sites and tunable electronic structures, whereas the synthesis of ultrafine alloy nanoparticles with atomic-level homogeneity for bulk-state immiscible couples remains a formidable challenge. Herein, we present the synthesis of Ru x Co 1- x solid-solution alloy nanoparticles (ca. 2 nm) across the entire composition range, for highly efficient, durable, and selective CO 2 hydrogenation to CH 4 under mild conditions. Notably, Ru 0.88 Co 0.12 /TiO 2 and Ru 0.74 Co 0.26 /TiO 2 catalysts, with 12 and 26 atom % of Ru being substituted by Co, exhibit enhanced catalytic activity compared with the monometallic Ru/TiO 2 counterparts both in dark and under light irradiation. The comprehensive experimental investigations and density functional theory calculations unveil that the electronic state of Ru is subtly modulated owing to the intimate interaction between Ru and Co in the alloy nanoparticles, and this effect results in the decline in the CO 2 conversion energy barrier, thus ultimately culminating in an elevated catalytic performance relative to monometallic Ru and Co catalysts. In the photopromoted thermocatalytic process, the photoinduced charge carriers and localized photothermal effect play a pivotal role in facilitating the chemical reaction process, which accounts for the further boosted CO 2 methanation performance.

Rational design of catalysts relies on a deep understanding of the active centers. The structure and activity distribution of active centers on a surface are two of the central issues in catalysis and important targets of theoretical and experimental investigations. Herein, we report a machine learning-driven adequate sampling (MLAS) framework for obtaining a statistical understanding of the chemical environment near catalyst sites. Combined strategies were implemented to achieve highly efficient sampling, including the decomposition of degrees of freedom, stratified sampling, Gaussian process regression, and well-designed constraint optimization. The MLAS framework was applied to the rate-determining step in NH 3 synthesis, namely the N 2 activation process. We calculated the produced population function, P A , which provides a comprehensive and intuitive understanding of active centers. The MLAS framework can be broadly applied to other more complicated catalyst materials and reaction networks.

Liquid chromatography-tandem with high-resolution mass spectrometry (LCHRMS) has proven challenging for annotating multiple small molecules within complex matrices due to the complexities of chemical structure and raw LCHRMS data, as well as limitations in previous literatures and reference spectra related to those molecules. In this study, we developed a molecular networking assisted automatic database screening (MN/auto-DBS) strategy to examine the combined effect of MS 1 exact mass screening and MS 2 similarity analysis. We compiled all previously reported compounds from the relevant literatures. With the development of a Python software, the in-house database (DB) was created by automatically calculating the m/z and data from experimental MS 1 hits were rapid screened with DB. We then performed a feature-based molecular network analysis on the auto-MS 2 data for supplementary identification of unreported compounds, including clustered FBMN and annotated GNPS compounds. Finally, the results from both strategies were merged and manually curated for correct structural assignment. To demonstrate the applicability of MN/auto-DBS, we selected the Huangqi-Danshen herb pair (HD), commonly used in prescriptions or patent medicines to treat diabetic nephropathy and cerebrovascular disease. A total of 223 compounds were annotated, including 65 molecules not previously reported in HD, such as aromatic polyketides, coumarins, and diarylheptanoids. Wide application of novel materials often requires low-cost preparation methods. In this study, we present a simplified and facile preparation method for the [Ca 24 Al 28 O 64 ] 4+ (e - ) 4 electride material (C12A7:e - ). Successful preparation of the C12A7:e - electride was confirmed by XRD patterns and magnetic behavior analysis. The concentration of electrons in the prepared C12A7:e - powder was calculated to be approximately 2.23 × 10 21 cm -3 , as evaluated by iodometry and TPD. DFT calculations provided insight into the unique electronic structure of C12A7:e - . Additionally, the substitution of the Ca reductant with CaH 2 led to a reduction in the solid-state reaction temperature from 1100 to 950 °C, which can be attributed to thermodynamic effects such as a reduction in Δ G °.

The exploration of non-noble metal catalysts for alkane dehydrogenation and their catalytic mechanisms is the priority in catalysis research. Here, we report a high-density coordinatively unsaturated Zn cation (Zn cus ) catalyst for the direct dehydrogenation (DDH) of ethylbenzene (EB) to styrene (ST). The catalyst demonstrated good catalytic performance (∼40% initial EB conversion rate and >98% ST selectivity) and excellent regeneration ability in the reaction, which is attributed to the high-density (HD) distribution and high-stability structure of Zn cus active sites on the surface of zinc silicate (HD-Zn cus @ZS). Density functional theory (DFT) calculations further illustrated the reaction pathway and intermediates, supporting that the Zn cus sites can efficiently activate the C-H bond of ethyl on ethylbenzene. Developing the high-density Zn cus catalyst and exploring the catalytic mechanism laid a good foundation for designing practical non-noble metal catalysts.

In this study, single Ni 2 clusters (two Ni atoms bridged by a lattice oxygen) are successfully synthesized on monolayered CuO. They exhibit a remarkable activity toward low-temperature CO 2 thermal dissociation, in contrast to cationic Ni atoms that nondissociatively adsorb CO 2 and metallic Ni ones that are chemically inert for CO 2 adsorption. Density functional theory calculations reveal that the Ni 2 clusters can significantly alter the spatial symmetry of their unoccupied frontier orbitals to match the occupied counterpart of the CO 2 molecule and enable its low-temperature dissociation. This study may help advance single-cluster catalysis and exploit the unexcavated mechanism for low-temperature CO 2 activation.

Background: Alignment is indispensable for the foot and ankle function, especially in the hindfoot alignment. In the preoperative planning of patients with varus or valgus deformity, the precise measurement of the hindfoot alignment is important. A new method of photographing and measuring hindfoot alignment based on X-ray was proposed in this study, and it was applied in the assessment of flatfoot., Methods: This study included 28 patients (40 feet) with flatfeet and 20 volunteers (40 feet) from January to December 2018. The hindfoot alignment shooting stand independently designed by our department was used to take hindfoot alignment X-rays at 10 degree, 15 degree, 20 degree, 25 degree, and 30 degree. We measured the modified tibio-hindfoot angle (THA) at the standard hindfoot aligment position (shooting at 20 degree) and evaluated consistency with the van Dijk method and the modified van Dijk method. In addition, we observed the visibility of the tibiotalar joint space from all imaging data at five projection angles and evaluated the consistency of the modified THA method at different projection angles. The angle of hindfoot valgus of flatfoot patients was measured using the modified THA method., Results: The mean THA in the standard hindfoot aligment view in normal people was significantly different among the three evaluation methods (P < .001). The results from the modified THA method were significantly larger than those from the Van Dijk method (P < .001) and modified Van Dijk method (P < .001). There was no significant difference between the results of the modified THA method and the weightbearing CT (P = .605), and the intra- and intergroup consistency were the highest in the modified THA group. The tibiotalar space in the normal group was visible in all cases at 10 degree, 15 degree, and 20 degree; visible in some cases at 25 degree; and not visible in all cases at 30 degree. In the flatfoot group, the tibiotalar space was visible in all cases at 10 degree, visible in some cases at 15 degree and 20 degree, and not visible in all cases at 25 degree and 30 degree. In the normal group, the modified THA was 4.84 ± 1.81 degree at 10 degree, 4.96 ± 1.77 degree at 15 degree, and 4.94 ± 2.04 degree at 20 degree. No significant differences were found among the three groups (P = .616). In the flatfoot group, the modified THA of 18 feet, which was visible at 10 degree, 15 degree and 20 degree, was 13.58 ± 3.57 degree at 10 degree, 13.62 ± 3.83 degree at 15 degree and 13.38 ± 4.06 degree at 20 degree. There were no significant differences among the three groups (P = .425)., Conclusions: The modified THA evaluation method is simple to use and has high inter- and intragroup consistency. Orthorhombic Ca 2 CO 4 is a recently discovered orthocarbonate whose high-pressure physical properties are critical for understanding the deep carbon cycle. Here, we study the structure, elastic and seismic properties of Ca 2 CO 4 -Pnma at 20-140 GPa using first-principles calculations, and compare them with the results of CaCO 3 polymorphs. The results show that the structural parameters of Ca 2 CO 4 -Pnma are in good agreement with the experimental results. It could be the potential host of carbon in the Earth's mantle subduction slab, and its low wave velocity and small anisotropy may be the reason why it cannot be detected in seismic observation. The thermodynamic properties of Ca 2 CO 4 -Pnma at high temperature and high pressure are obtained using the quasi-harmonic approximation method. Introduction: Lanqin Oral Liquid (LQL) is a traditional Chinese medicine preparation (TCMP) containing five herbal medicines and has been commonly used for the treatment of pharyngitis and hand-foot-and-mouth disease in clinic. The material basis of LQL has been reported in our previous study, but the contents of the major components and the features of saccharide in LQL are still unclear., Objectives: This study aimed to establish accurate and rapid methods for the quantification of the major components and profiling of saccharide in LQL. The quantitative results combined with similarity evaluation were applied to improve the quality control of LQL., Methodology: An ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled with triple-quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-QQQ-MS) method was utilised to determine 44 major components. Cosine similarity was used to evaluate the similarities among 20 batches of LQL based on the quantitative results of 44 major components. The physicochemical properties, structure, composition, and contents of saccharide in LQL were detected by a combination of chemical and instrumental analysis., Results: A total of 44 compounds, including flavonoids, iridoid glycosides, alkaloids, and nucleosides, were accurately determined. The 20 batches of LQL were remarkably similar (> 0.95). In addition, d-glucose, galactose, d-glucuronic acid, arabinose, and d-mannose were detected in saccharide of LQL. The contents of saccharide in LQL were 13.52-21.09 mg/ml., Conclusions: The established methods can be applied for the comprehensive quality control of LQL, including characterisation of saccharide and quantification of representative components. A two-dimensional phononic crystal sensor model with high-quality factor and excellent sensitivity for sensing acetone solutions and operating at 25-45 kHz is proposed. The model for filling solution cavities is based on reference designs of quasi-crystal and gradient cavity structures. The transmission spectrum of sensor is simulated by the finite element method. High-quality factor of 45,793.06 and sensitivity of 80,166.67 Hz are obtained for the acetone concentration with 1-9.1%, and quality factor of 61,438.09 and sensitivity of 24,400.00 Hz are obtained for the acetone concentration range of 10-100%, which indicated the sensor could still achieve high sensitivity and quality factor at operating frequencies from 25 to 45 kHz. To verify the application of the sensor to sensing other solutions, the sensitivity for sound velocity and density is calculated as 24.61 m -1 and 0.7764 m 3 /(kg × s), respectively. It indicates the sensor is sensitive to acoustic impedance changes of the solution and equally suitable for sensing other solutions. The simulation results reveal the phononic crystal sensor possessed high-performance in composition capture in pharmaceutical production and petrochemical industry, which can provide theoretical reference for the design of new biochemical sensors for reliable detection of solution concentration., (© 2023. The activation of water molecules in thermal catalysis typically requires high temperatures, representing an obstacle to catalyst development for the low-temperature water-gas shift reaction (WGSR). Plasmonic photocatalysis allows activation of water at low temperatures through the generation of light-induced hot electrons. Herein, we report a layered double hydroxide-derived copper catalyst (LD-Cu) with outstanding performance for the low-temperature photo-driven WGSR. LD-Cu offered a lower activation energy for WGSR to H 2 under UV/Vis irradiation (1.4 W cm -2 ) compared to under dark conditions. Detailed experimental studies revealed that highly dispersed Cu nanoparticles created an abundance of hot electrons during light absorption, which promoted *H 2 O dissociation and *H combination via a carboxyl pathway, leading to the efficient production of H 2 . The carbonization of iron is a very important early phenomenon in the field of heterogeneous catalysis and the petrochemical industry, but the mechanism is still controversial. In this work, the carbonization mechanism and carbonization structure of iron nanoparticles by different carbon sources (CH 4 , C 2 H 6 , C 2 H 4 , C 2 H 2 ) were systematically investigated using the reactive molecular dynamics method. The results show that saturated alkanes are dehydrogenated while adsorbed, but unsaturated olefins and alkynes undergo bond-breaking while adsorbed. The C-H bond is more likely to break than the C-C bond. Hydrocarbons with high carbon content have a strong ability to carbonize Fe nanoparticles under the same conditions. For C 2 H 4 and C 2 H 2 , the C atoms generated from dissociation form a large number of long carbon chains intertwined with branched chains and multiple carbon rings. The C2 species formed by C 2 H 2 after complete dehydrogenation diffuse rapidly to the interior of the nanoparticles, releasing the surface active sites and accelerating the carbonization process. Carbon-rich iron carbides (FeC x ) with different Fe/C ratios were obtained by carbonization with different carbon sources. In addition, the Fe(110) surface exhibits the strongest carburizing ability. These findings provide systematic insights into the initial stages of metal Fe carburization.

Objectives: The present study aims to evaluate the clinical application values of ultrasound real-time shear wave elastography (SWE) in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of cervical cancer (CC)., Methods: A total of 285 married female patients were screened and divided into three groups according to the results of the pathological examination and the cervical ThinPrep cytologic test: 1) the CC group (n = 94); 2) the cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) group (n = 91); and 3) the normal control group (n = 100). The maximum Young's modulus (Emax), mean Young's modulus (Emean), minimum Young's modulus (Emin), and Young's modulus stability (Esd) in each group were measured and statistically analyzed., Results: There were no statistically significant differences in Emax, Emean, Emin, and Esd values between the anterior and posterior cervical walls, premenopausal and postmenopausal women, and nonparturient and parturient women in the normal control group. The Emax, Emean, Emin, and Esd values in the CIN group showed no statistically significant differences in different periods when compared with the control group. The differences between the normal control group and the CC group were statistically significant; the CC group showed no statistically significant differences in Emax, Emean, Emin, and Esd values at different clinical stages and in different pathological types. The α-haloketones are important precursors for synthetic chemistry and pharmaceutical applications; however, their production relies heavily on traditional synthetic methods via halogenation of ketones that are toxic and environmentally risky. Here, we report a heterogeneous photosynthetic strategy of α-haloketone production from aromatic olefins using copper-modified graphitic carbon nitride (Cu-C 3 N 4 ) under mild reaction conditions. By employing NiX 2 (X = Cl, Br) as the halogen source, a series of α-haloketones can be synthesized using atmospheric air as the oxidant under visible-light irradiation. In comparison with pristine carbon nitride, the addition of Cu as a cocatalyst provides a moderate generation rate of halogen radicals and selective reduction of molecular oxygen into • OOH radicals, thus leading to a high selectivity to α-haloketones. The promotion of liver regeneration is crucial to avoid liver failure after hepatectomy. Angelica sinensis polysaccharide (ASP) and Astragalus membranaceus polysaccharide (AMP) have been identified as being associated with hepatoprotective effects. However, their roles and specific mechanisms in liver regeneration remain to be elucidated. In the present study, it suggested that the respective use of ASP or AMP strikingly promoted hepatocyte proliferation in vitro with a wide range of concentrations (from 12.5 μg/mL to 3200 μg/mL), and a stronger promoting effect was observed in combined interventions. A significantly enhanced liver/body weight ratio (4.20%) on day 7 and reduced serum transaminase (ALT 243.53 IU/L and AST 423.74 IU/L) and total bilirubin (52.61 IU/L) levels on day 3 were achieved by means of ASP-AMP administration after partial hepatectomy in mice. Metabonomics showed that differential metabolites were enriched in glycolysis with high expression of beta-d-fructose 6-phosphate and lactate, followed by significantly strengthened lactate secretion in the supernatant (0.54) and serum (0.43) normalized to control. Upon ASP-AMP treatment, the knockdown of hexokinase 2 (HK2) or inhibited glycolysis caused by 2-deoxy-d-glucose decreased hepatocyte proliferation in vitro and in vivo. Furthermore, pathway analysis predicted the role of JAK2/STAT3 pathway in ASP-AMP-regulated liver regeneration, and phosphorylation of JAK2 and STAT3 was proven to be elevated in this promoting process. Finally, downregulated expression of HK2, an attenuated level of lactate secretion, and reduced hepatocyte proliferation were displayed when STAT3 was knocked out in vitro. Therefore, it can be concluded that ASP-AMP accelerated liver regeneration and exerted a hepatoprotective effect after hepatectomy, in which the JAK2/STAT3/HK2 pathway was actively involved in activating glycolysis.

The atomically dispersed metal catalyst or single-atom catalyst (SAC) with the utmost metal utilization efficiency shows excellent selectivity toward ethylene compared to the metal nanoparticles catalyst in the acetylene semi-hydrogenation reaction. However, these catalysts normally work at relatively high temperatures. Achieving low-temperature reactivity while preserving high selectivity remains a challenge. To improve the intrinsic reactivity of SACs, rationally tailoring the coordination environments of the first metal atom by coordinating it with a second neighboring metal atom affords an opportunity. Here, we report the fabrication of a dual-atom catalyst (DAC) that features a bonded Pd 1 -Cu 1 atomic pair anchoring on nanodiamond graphene (ND@G). Compared to the single-atom Pd or Cu catalyst, it exhibits increased reactivity at a lower temperature, with 100% acetylene conversion and 92% ethylene selectivity at 110 °C. This work provides a strategy for designing DACs for low-temperature hydrogenation by manipulating the coordination environment of catalytic sites at the atomic level.

Electrides, a unique type of compound where electrons act as anions, have a high electron mobility and a low work function, which makes them promising for applications in electronic devices and high-performance catalysts. The discovery of novel electrides and the expansion of the electride family have great significance for their promising applications. Herein, we reported four three-dimensional (3D) electrides by coupling crystal structure database searches and first-principles electronic structure analysis. Subnitrides (Ba 3 N, LiBa 3 N, NaBa 3 N, and Na 5 Ba 3 N) containing one-dimensional (1D) [Ba 3 N] 3+ chains are identified as 3D electrides for the first time. The anionic electrons are confined in the 3D interstitial space of Ba 3 N, LiBa 3 N, NaBa 3 N, and Na 5 Ba 3 N. Interestingly, with the increase of Na content, the excess electrons of Na 5 Ba 3 N play two roles of metallic bonding and anionic electrons. Therefore, the subnitrides containing 1D [Ba 3 N] 3+ chains can be regarded as a new family of 3D electrides, where anionic electrons reside in the 3D interstitial spaces and provide a conduction path. These materials not only are experimentally synthesizable 3D electrides but also are promising to be exfoliated into advanced 1D nanowire materials. Simiao Wan (SMW) is a traditional Chinese formula, including Atractylodis Rhizoma, Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, Phellodendri Chinensis Cortex and Coicis Semen at the ratio of 1:1:2:2. It can be used to the treatment of diabetes. However, its bioactive compounds and underlying mechanism are unclear. This study aimed to screen the antilipolytic fraction from SMW and investigate its therapeutic mechanisms on hepatic insulin resistance. Different fractions of SMW were prepared by membrane separation combined with macroporous resin and their antilipolytic activities were screened in fasted mice. The effects of 60% ethanol elution (ESMW) on lipolysis were investigated in 3T3-L1 adipocytes stimulated by palmitic acid (PA) and high fat diet (HFD)-fed mice. In our study, ESMW is the bioactive fraction responsible for the antilipolytic activity of SMW and 13 compounds were characterized from ESMW by UHPLC-QTOF-MS/MS. ESMW suppressed protein kinase A (PKA)-hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL) related lipolysis and increased AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) phosphorylation in PA challenged 3T3-L1 adipocytes. AMPKα knockdown abolished the inhibitory effects of ESMW on IL-6 and HSL pSer-660, revealing that the antilipolytic and anti-inflammatory activities of ESMW are AMPK dependent. Furthermore, ESMW ameliorated insulin resistance and suppressed lipolysis in HFD-fed mice. It inhibited diacylglycerol accumulation in the liver and inhibited hepatic gluconeogenesis. Conditional medium collected from ESMW-treated 3T3-L1 cells ameliorated insulin action on hepatic gluconeogenesis in liver cells, demonstrating the antilipolytic activity contributed to ESMW beneficial effects on hepatic glucose production. In conclusion, ESMW, as the antilipolytic fraction of SMW, inhibited PKA-HSL related lipolysis by activating AMPK, thus inhibiting diacylglycerol (DAG) accumulation in the liver and thereby improving insulin resistance and hepatic gluconeogenesis., (Copyright © 2022 China Pharmaceutical University. Background: Traditional medial malleolar osteotomy combined with autologous osteochondral transplantation (AOT) is mostly used in the treatment of osteochondral lesions of the talus (OLTs), but with high osteotomy and donor site complications. We hypothesis a new triplane medial malleolar osteotomy combined with AOT from non-weight-bearing area of the talus could be a promising choice for OLTs., Methods: We reviewed all the symptomatic OLTs patients who received AOT with triplane osteotomy of the medial malleolus between September 2015 and December 2017 in our department. According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 23 patients (23 ankles), including 14 males and 9 females, were included in the study. The mean age was 35.6 years. The mean size of the lesion area was 141.5 mm 2 . According Ferkel's classification, including 5 type I, 11 typeIIa and 7 typeIIb. The visual analog scale (VAS) for pain during walking and the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) ankle-hindfoot score were used for the pre- and postoperative evaluations. In addition, the incorporation of the grafts was assessed by computed tomography (CT)., Results: All patients had a minimum follow-up of 22 months, with an average of 37.1 months. The mean time from osteotomy to full weight-bearing activity was 8.1 ± 2.3 weeks (range, 5-12 weeks). The mean VAS score improved from 5.6 ± 0.7 preoperatively to 0.7 ± 1.0 postoperatively (P < 0.01). The AOFAS ankle-hindfoot score improved significantly in all domains (P < 0.01). Twenty-one patients returned to sport at their previous level, and 2 returned at a lower level compared with preinjury (mean return to play, 7.4 months). According to CT, the medial malleolus recovered in all patients, and the graft was incorporated well. One patient suffered from flexor hallucis longus tendon discomfort due to internal fixation screw irritation posteromedial to the ankle. The general complication rate was 4.3% (1/23)., Conclusions: These results indicate that AOT combined with medial malleolus triplane osteotomy maybe a viable option for OLTs. Patients could perform weight-bearing exercise and return to sport as early as possible, with a lower rate of complications at the osteotomy site and donor site. To understand the metal-support interaction of oxide supported transition metal catalysts, we computed the reaction mechanisms of dry and steam reforming of methane on a tetragonal ZrO 2 (101) supported Ni catalyst. Based on the limited number of active sites on the surface, an irregular and non-ideal Ni 13 cluster on ZrO 2 (101) is identified as a catalyst. A simple reaction mechanism is proposed, and the first direct dissociation step of CO 2 , CH 4 and H 2 O is the most difficult based on the computed Gibbs free energies and no surface CH X O and CH X OH intermediates are involved, different from that on the flat Ni(111) surface. Analysis of other supported nickel catalysts shows that not only the support but also the size and shape of the metal clusters play an important role in the reaction mechanisms and kinetics.

Reversing the thermal induced sintering phenomenon and forming high temperature stable fine dispersed metallic centers with unique structural and electronic properties is one of the ever-lasting targets of heterogeneous catalysis. Here we report that the dispersion of metallic Ni particles into under-coordinated two-dimensional Ni clusters over γ-Mo 2 N is a thermodynamically favorable process based on the AIMD simulation. A Ni-4nm/γ-Mo 2 N model catalyst is synthesized and used to further study the reverse sintering effect by the combination of multiple in-situ characterization methods, including in-situ quick XANES and EXAFS, ambient pressure XPS and environmental SE/STEM etc. The under-coordinated two-dimensional layered Ni clusters on molybdenum nitride support generated from the Ni-4nm/γ-Mo 2 N has been demonstrated to be a thermally stable catalyst in 50 h stability test in CO 2 hydrogenation, and exhibits a remarkable catalytic selectivity reverse compared with traditional Ni particles-based catalyst, leading to a chemo-specific CO 2 hydrogenation to CO., (© 2021. Objectives: Percutaneous catheter drainage (PCD) is usually performed to treat acute pancreatitis complicated by infected walled-off necrosis (WON). Insufficient drainage of infected WON may lead to a prolonged recovery process. Here, we introduce a modified PCD strategy that uses the triple guidance of choledochoscopy, ultrasonography, and computed tomography (CUC-PCD) to improve the therapeutic efficiency., Methods: This study retrospectively analysed 73 patients with acute pancreatitis-related WON from January 2015 to January 2021. The first 38 patients were treated by ultrasonography/computed tomography-guided PCD (UC-PCD), and the next consecutive 35 patients by CUC-PCD. Perioperative data, procedural technical information, treatment outcomes, and follow-up data were collected., Results: Demographic characteristics were statistically comparable between the two treatment groups (p > 0.05). After 48 h of PCD treatment, the CUC-PCD group achieved a significantly smaller size of the infected WON (p = 0.023), lower inflammatory response indexes (p = 0.020 for white blood cells, and p = 0.031 for C-reactive protein), and severity scores than the UC-PCD group (p < 0.05). Less catheter duration (p = 0.001), hospitalisation duration (p = 0.000), and global costs (p = 0.000) were observed in the CUC-PCD group compared to the UC-PCD group. Background: There have been debates on the necessity of fibular osteotomy (FO) in supramalleolar osteotomy (SMOT) for the treatment of varus ankle osteoarthritis. The purpose of the current study was to compare the clinical and radiological outcomes between SMOT with and without FO in the treatment of varus ankle osteoarthritis., Methods: The SMOT group included 39 patients, and the SMOT with FO group included 24 patients. The basic information reached no significant difference between groups. The American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) ankle-hindfoot score, Ankle Osteoarthritis Scale (AOS), modified Takakura stage and range of motion (ROM) were used for the functional evaluation. The radiologic parameters were assessed at the last follow-up to compare the degree of talar reduction between the two groups., Results: Both groups achieved significant improvements in AOFAS scores, modified Takakura stage, as well as AOS pain and functional scores (P < 0.001). The ROM of the ankle joint in the SMOT group was significantly decreased (P = 0.022). In both groups, all of the radiological parameters were significantly improved (P < 0.01). The tibiofibular clear space (TFCS) was significantly widened in the SMOT group (P < 0.001). No significant difference was found between the two groups according to the functional outcomes. However, the talar tilt angle (TT) and hindfoot alignment angle (HFA) in the SMOT with FO group were significantly smaller than those in the SMOT group (P < 0.05). The TFCS was significantly widened in the SMOT group (P = 0.001). The medial displacement of the talus (MDT) was better reduced in the SMOT with FO group (P = 0.006)., Conclusion: SMOT is a promising procedure for functional improvement and malalignment correction in varus ankle osteoarthritis but reduces ankle range of motion. Solar-driven Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) holds great potential for the sustainable production of fuels from syngas and solar energy. However, the selectivity toward multi-carbon products (C 2+ ) is often hampered by the difficulty in the regulation of transition metals acting as both light absorption units and active sites. Herein, a partial phosphidation strategy to prepare titania supported Ni 2 P/Ni catalysts for photothermal FTS is demonstrated. Under Xenon lamp or concentrated sunlight irradiation, the optimized catalyst shows a C 2+ selectivity of 70% at a CO conversion of >20%. Conversely, nickel metal in the absence of Ni 2 P delivers negligible C 2+ products (≈1%) with methane being the major product (>90%). Structural characterization and density functional theory calculation reveal that the partial phosphidation allows exposed metallic Ni to be active for CO adsorption and activation, while the existence of Ni 2 P/Ni interface is responsible to inhibit CO methanation and promote C-C coupling of adsorbed *CH intermediates. Objective: To explore the clinical value of real-time shear wave ultrasonic elastography in diagnosing the depth of infiltrating muscularis of endometrial cancer., Methods: Seventy-one patients with stage I endometrial cancer infiltrating the myometrium and 37 patients with normal physical examination were enrolled and divided into three groups: endometrial cancer superficial muscle infiltration group, endometrial cancer deep muscle infiltration group, and normal control group. After completing 2-dimensional ultrasound examination, each patient switched to the real-time shear wave elastography mode to measure the elasticity values Emax, Emean, and Esd., Results: For control group, comparison of elastic modulus values between superficial muscular layer near the intimal surface and the deep muscular layer near the serosa surface showed no difference (P > 0.05). For endometrial cancer superficial muscular infiltration group, significant difference was found regarding the elastic modulus values of infiltrated muscular layer and uninfiltrated muscular layer (Emax and Emean) without difference for Esd (P > 0.05). A significant difference of elastic modulus was observed between control group and deep myometrial infiltration group (P < 0.05) without difference of Emean or Emax but with difference of Esd. The accuracy in diagnosing muscular layer infiltration was 78.9% for Emax cutoff and 82.5% for Emean cutoff. The rate of using Emax ≥32.22 kPa or Emean ≥27.54 kPa as the ultrasound standard for diagnosing myometrium infiltration was 92.9%. The accuracy for the diagnosis of muscular layer infiltration was 96.1% for Emax cutoff, 94.1% for Emean cutoff and 86.3% for Esd cutoff., Conclusion: Real-time shear wave elastography is helpful to determine the depth of infiltrating myometrium of endometrial cancer., (© 2020 American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.)

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a common malignancy of the digestive system. Colorectal liver cancer metastasis (CRLM) occurs in approximately 50% of the patients and is the main cause of CRC mortality. Surgical resection is currently the most effective treatment for CRLM. However, given that the remnant liver volume after resection should be adequate, only a few patients are suitable for radical resection. Since Dr. Hans Schlitt first performed the associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy (ALPPS) for CRLM in 2012, ALPPS has received considerable attention and has continually evolved in recent years. This review explains the technical origin of the ALPPS procedure for CRLM and evaluates its efficacy, pointing to its favorable postoperative outcomes. We also discuss the patient screening strategies and optimization of ALPPS to ensure long-term survival of patients with CRLM in whom surgery cannot be performed. Finally, further directions in both basic and clinical research regarding ALPPS have been proposed. For local treatment of ulcerative colitis, a new azoreductase driven prodrug CDDO-AZO from bardoxolone methyl (CDDO-Me) and 5-aminosalicylate (5-ASA) was designed, synthesized and biologically evaluated. It is proposed that orally administrated CDDO-AZO is stable before reaching the colon, while it can also be triggered by the presence of azoreductase in the colon to fragment into CDDO-Me and 5-ASA, generating potent anti-colitis effects. Superior to olsalazine (OLS, a clinically used drug for ulcerative colitis) and CDDO-Me plus 5-ASA, CDDO-AZO significantly attenuated inflammatory colitis symptoms in DSS-induced chronic colitis mice, which suggested that CDDO-AZO may be a promising anti-ulcerative colitis agent., (Copyright © 2021 China Pharmaceutical University. Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most diagnosed cancer worldwide. Progesterone is associated with a decreased risk of CRC and leads to a favourable prognosis. However, the specific mechanism by which progesterone suppresses malignant progression remains to be elucidated. In the present study, the level of progesterone was first analysed in 77 patients with CRC, and immunohistochemistry was performed to detect the expression of progesterone receptor (PGR) in the paired specimens. The correlations between progesterone, PGR and CRC prognosis were assessed. A Cell Counting Kit‑8 assay was then used to detect proliferation of the CRC cells. Flow cytometry was performed to estimate apoptosis and to evaluate the cycle of the CRC cells. A xenograft tumour model was established in nude mice to assess the role of progesterone in tumour growth. Finally, a PCR microarray was used to screen differentially expressed genes to further interpret the mechanism by which progesterone inhibits the malignant progression of CRC. It was found that low expression of progesterone and PGR were significantly associated with poor prognosis of CRC. In addition, progesterone suppressed CRC cell proliferation by arresting the cell cycle and inducing apoptosis in vitro . Moreover, the inhibitory role of progesterone in tumour growth was verified in vivo . Further investigation showed that the level of growth arrest and DNA damage‑inducible protein α (GADD45α) was up‑regulated by progesterone, and this was followed by the activation of the JNK pathway. Progesterone increased the activity of the JNK pathway via GADD45α to inhibit proliferation by arresting the cell cycle and inducing apoptosis, thereby suppressing the malignant progression of CRC. Therefore, it can be concluded that progesterone and PGR might act as inhibiting factors for poor prognosis of CRC.

In view of the influence of variability of low-frequency noise frequency on noise prevention in real life, we present a novel two-dimensional tunable phononic crystal plate which is consisted of lead columns deposited in a silicone rubber plate with periodic holes and calculate its bandgap characteristics by finite element method. The low-frequency bandgap mechanism of the designed model is discussed simultaneously. Accordingly, the influence of geometric parameters of the phononic crystal plate on the bandgap characteristics is analyzed and the bandgap adjustability under prestretch strain is further studied. Results show that the new designed phononic crystal plate has lower bandgap starting frequency and wider bandwidth than the traditional single-sided structure, which is due to the coupling between the resonance mode of the scatterer and the long traveling wave in the matrix with the introduction of periodic holes. Applying prestretch strain to the matrix can realize active realtime control of low-frequency bandgap under slight deformation and broaden the low-frequency bandgap, which can be explained as the multiple bands tend to be flattened due to the localization degree of unit cell vibration increases with the rise of prestrain. The presented structure improves the realtime adjustability of sound isolation and vibration reduction frequency for phononic crystal in complex acoustic vibration environments.

Methanol-water reforming is a promising solution for H 2 production/transportation in stationary and mobile hydrogen applications. Developing inexpensive catalysts with sufficiently high activity, selectivity, and stability remains challenging. In this paper, nickel-supported over face-centered cubic (fcc) phase α-MoC has been discovered to exhibit extraordinary hydrogen production activity in the aqueous-phase methanol reforming reaction. Under optimized condition, the hydrogen production rate of 2% Ni/α-MoC is about 6 times higher than that of conventional noble metal 2% Pt/Al 2 O 3 catalyst. We demonstrate that Ni is atomically dispersed over α-MoC via carbon bridge bonds, forming a Ni 1 -C x motif on the carbide surface. Such Ni 1 -C x motifs can effectively stabilize the isolated Ni 1 sites over the α-MoC substrate, rendering maximized active site density and high structural stability. In addition, the synergy between Ni 1 -C x motif and α-MoC produces an active interfacial structure for water dissociation, methanol activation, and successive reforming processes with compatible activity.

We present a case of a 13-year-old female with severe varus deformity and limb discrepancy resulting from epiphyseal fracture. The preoperative tibial articular surface angle was 64.1°, and the affected tibia was 14 mm shorter than the contralateral tibia. She underwent a medial open osteotomy and fibular osteotomy with gradual distraction correction using Ilizarov fixator. The deformity was corrected at 3 months, and the external fixator was removed when bony union was achieved 6 months postoperatively. At 9 months after surgery, the patient could play basketball without feeling pain. At the last follow-up, namely 36 months after the operation, the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society hindfoot-ankle score was improved from 58 to 90, the patient was pain free, and the radiological measurements were nearly normal. Objective: As sinusoidal endothelial cell progenitor cells (SEPCs) play a significant role in liver regeneration, it is necessary to elucidate whether SEPCs participate in tumour progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)., Methods: A total of 45 patients with primary HCC who underwent liver resection were included in this study. The liver tumours were removed from the patients, and partial tissues were prepared to identify SEPCs through double staining of CD133/CD45 and CD133/CD31 at the same location. Blood samples were collected to examine liver function parameters and tumour markers. The demographics and clinicopathological characteristics of the patients were collected for correlation analysis with SEPCs., Results: SEPCs were observed in several blood vessels within the HCC nodules of all 45 patients, but no SEPCs were detected in the tumour-adjacent tissues. The number of SEPCs was correlated with the expression levels of HCC tumour markers α -fetoprotein (AFP) and CA199. There was a positive correlation between the expression of SEPC markers and diameter of HCC tumours in differently differentiated specimens ( P < 0.01). The expression levels of SEPC markers were significantly higher in patients with poorly differentiated HCC than in patients with moderately and highly differentiated HCC ( P < 0.05)., Conclusions: SEPCs are closely associated with HCC progression; therefore, SEPCs may be considered potential prognostic and metastatic biomarkers and therapeutic candidates for HCC., Competing Interests: The authors declare no competing interests., (Copyright © 2020 Ya-xing Feng et al.)

Enhancing the intrinsic activity and space time yield of Cu based heterogeneous methanol synthesis catalysts through CO 2 hydrogenation is one of the major topics in CO 2 conversion into value-added liquid fuels and chemicals. Here we report inverse ZrO 2 /Cu catalysts with a tunable Zr/Cu ratio have been prepared via an oxalate co-precipitation method, showing excellent performance for CO 2 hydrogenation to methanol. Under optimal condition, the catalyst composed by 10% of ZrO 2 supported over 90% of Cu exhibits the highest mass-specific methanol formation rate of 524 g MeOH kg cat -1 h -1 at 220 °C, 3.3 times higher than the activity of traditional Cu/ZrO 2 catalysts (159 g MeOH kg cat -1 h -1 ). In situ XRD-PDF, XAFS and AP-XPS structural studies reveal that the inverse ZrO 2 /Cu catalysts are composed of islands of partially reduced 1-2 nm amorphous ZrO 2 supported over metallic Cu particles. The ZrO 2 islands are highly active for the CO 2 activation. Meanwhile, an intermediate of formate adsorbed on the Cu at 1350 cm -1 is discovered by the in situ DRIFTS. This formate intermediate exhibits fast hydrogenation conversion to methoxy. The activation of CO 2 and hydrogenation of all the surface oxygenate intermediates are significantly accelerated over the inverse ZrO 2 /Cu configuration, accounting for the excellent methanol formation activity observed.

Hepatocellular carcinoma is the second leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. Neural regulation plays an important role in the development of hepatocellular carcinoma, and activation of sympathetic nervous system can promote the migration and invasion of cancer cells. However, little research has been conducted on how the vagus nerve influences hepatocellular carcinoma. In this study, we found that the expression of vesicular acetylcholine transporter, a biomarker of vagus nerve, was associated with hepatocellular carcinoma patients' clinicopathological characteristics by immunohistochemistry. Further, activation of muscarinic acetylcholine receptor 1 (M1R) promoted HepG2 and SMMC-7721 cells migration and invasion and epithelial-mesenchymal transition via PI3K/Akt pathway. Moreover, inhibition of M1R by antagonist or shRNA suppressed hepatocellular carcinoma cells migration and invasion in vitro and in vivo, inhibited epithelial-mesenchymal transition and PI3K/Akt pathway. Therefore, these results indicate that activation of M1R promotes invasion of hepatocellular carcinoma through epithelial-mesenchymal transition and PI3K/Akt pathway.

Pancreatic trauma is associated with high mortality and morbidity, especially in main pancreatic duct (MPD) injuries. Here, we introduce a novel technique via the placement of bridge stenting-based internal drainage (BSID) along the injured MPD to restore pancreatic tissue integrity. Twelve patients with MPD injury underwent unobstructed BSID as physical support for healing. Six patients with peripheral organ injuries underwent operative end-to-end anastomosis of the MPD by using a polyurethane central venous catheter for the BSID, and the other six patients with isolated proximal MPD rupture received BSID via endoscopic pancreatic stent placement. The BSID technique was successfully performed in all pancreatic trauma patients without the need for a second open surgery. With this simplified BSID-based operation, a short procedure duration (242.7 ± 38.71 min in the surgical group and 100.2 ± 16.24 min in the endoscopic group) and a short hospital stay (13.0 ± 7.05 days) were achieved. However, a few complications (41.67%) still occurred, including pancreatitis, fistula, abscess, pseudocyst, cholangitis, and haemorrhage. Except for the deceased case, all postoperative courses were marked by decreases in the peripancreatic fluid collection, blood amylase recovery, and normal endocrine function. The BSID approach is a feasible surgical approach for the treatment of MPD injury and can be used endoscopically in isolated MPD injuries for its safety and convenience.
