Abstract

At present, cost reduction and environmental protection are the mainstream of blast furnace (BF) development and the high lump ore ratio is an effective means. Therefore, it is significant to explore the relationship and mechanism of burden soft-melt dropping and its primary-slag formation behaviors under increasing lump ore ratio. In this paper, the melt–drop test is carried out on the single ore and mixed burden, and obtained primary-slag properties are subjected to analysis. The experimental results show that the primary-slag of lump ore contains a large amount of FeO and SiO2, so it simply produces many low melting point compounds, which cause terrible soft-melt dropping properties and primary-slag formation behaviors. Notably, mixing with sinter and pellet can effectively improve both the properties. With the increase in lump ore ratio, the CaO in the primary-slag decreases, FeO and SiO2 increase, resulting in the melting temperature of the primary-slag sequentially decreasing and the cohesive zone moves to the low temperature zone. In addition, the maximum pressure difference increases, and the gas permeability deteriorates. Increasing the sinter ratio can overcome the defect of high lump ore ratio that can effectively improve the poor softening performance, melting performance and the position and thickness of the cohesive zone. However, because of the pulverization performance, the maximum pressure difference and gas permeability of the burden become worse.

Abstract

Fuel consumption in the COREX-3000 process run in Baosteel is currently higher than the design index. Therefore, mass and heat balance equations for the COREX process were established using the basic principles included in the Rist operating diagram for blast furnace (BF) as a reference. Thermodynamic calculations were then used to modify the Rist operating diagram so that it was suitable for the COREX process. The modified Rist operating diagram was then applied for the evaluation of metallization rate (MR) and fuel structure to reduce the energy consumption in the COREX process. The modified Rist operating diagram for the shaft furnace (SF) provided a nearly ideal value for the restriction point W when the metallization rate was increased, while the point P on the operating line for the melter gasifier (MG) moved upward due to reduction in the heat required in hearth. The feasibility of reducing the energy consumption during the COREX process by changing the fuel structure was also demonstrated.

Abstract

In view of the traditional evaluation index of sintering basic characteristics ignoring process information, several high temperature characteristic numbers, which contain process information, were used to evaluate the sintering basic characteristics more comprehensively in this paper. The evaluation model of iron ore properties was established based on the high temperature characteristic numbers with employing fuzzy mathematics. Then, with the constraint of sinter properties and the raw materials, the ore blending model was built, whose target was to obtain the lowest cost and the best sinter properties. A multi-objective fuzzy linear programming was used to solve the model in order to get the best ore matching schemes. The ore blending model was then applied to the practical production, which was proved to be dependable.

Abstract

The theoretical flame temperature (TFT) before tuyere, always highly concerned by blast furnace (BF) operators, is one of the most important parameters for evaluating the thermal state of hearth. However, some influencing parameters, for example, the SiO2 reduction by carbon, were always neglected or inaccurate when calculating the TFT. According to the definition of TFT, the temperature of coke into raceway and the reduction rate of SiO2 in ash of coke and pulverized coal were obtained by analyzing the samples before tuyere in blast furnace. Taking full account of different factors, a modified model for calculating the TFT in blast furnace was established. The effects of the oxygen enrichment rate, the reduction rate of SiO2 in raceway, the ash content in coke and pulverized coal and the pulverized coal injection (PCI) rate on TFT were determined quantitatively. The modified model was applied to selecting the used coal for PCI in blast furnace. Considering the different SiO2 contents of mixed coal, the calculated TFT remained a stable level. This showed that the selected coal could be suitable for PCI in blast furnace.

11. Effects of Microwave Modification on the Desulfurization and Denitrification of Activated Coke.

Abstract

Microwave modification of activated coke is reported as a green and simple route to improve its synergistic desulfurization and denitrification. The results showed that microwave irradiation improved the specific surface area and pore volume, decreased the pore size, and activated the surface functional groups of the activated coke. Under the conditions of a microwave power of 500 W and a modification time of 30 min, the specific surface area was increased from 185.9 m²/g to 351.7 m²/g, the pore volume increased from 0.042 m³/g to 0.111 m³/g, and the characteristic peak strengths of C=C and -OH drastically increased. When the reaction temperature was 140 °C and the O2 concentration was 10% (by volume), the desulfurization and denitrification efficiency were maintained at levels greater than 90% and 80% for 30 min and 15 min, respectively. The C-O content increased, and the C=C and -OH content decreased after undergoing desulfurization and denitrification. The desulfurization and denitrification products were primarily sulfate and nitrate. The RIBLL2 in-flight separator at IMP, the secondary beam line between two storage rings at the \blue{\uwave{Heavy Ion Research Facility in Lanzhou (HIRFL-CSR)}}, has been commissioned to study the rare-isotope beam (RIB) physics at around 300 MeV/nucleon for the first time, in combination of the external target facility (ETF). The unambiguous particle identification in mass and charge states for $^{18}$O and $^{40}$Ar fragments has been achieved in recent experiments. 13. Kinetic Analysis on Non-isothermal Combustion of Several Urban Biomass Fuels.

Abstract

Thermogravimetric combustion characteristics of ginkgo leaves (GK), pine needles (PN), corn straw (CS), aspen leaves (AS), and white poplar leaves (WP) were studied. Results showed that the combustion of selected samples consisted of at least two weight loss stages. Besides, characteristic temperatures lagged towards high temperature zones under high heating rate, which was considered as the effect of insufficient transfer of heat. The combustion of volatile compounds and char from PN and CS was isolated under high heating rate and consequently the exothermic rate around 300°C was intensified and the exothermic rate over 400°C was decreased, while the maximum heat release rates of GK, AS, and WP were transferred into high temperature zones with the increasing of heating rate. The average activation energy of PN and CS was high though their combustion completed at a lower temperature, which was possibly due to the low average energy of molecules in samples in low temperature environment. The aromaticity, degree of condensation, CH2/CH3, and structure parameters of oxygen-containing functional groups were calculated according to the peak areas derived from the convolution of FTIR spectra. These parameters explained the discrepancy in both reactivity and exothermic behaviors of biomass samples during combustion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The theoretical flame temperature (TFT) before tuyere, always highly concerned by BF operators, is one of the most important parameters for evaluating the heat state of hearth. In this paper, the possibility of SiO2 reduced at high temperature was investigated and the ratio of reduced SiO2 and the temperature of coke in raceway have been obtained by means of the tuyere samples at different positions in the axial direction at tuyere level in BF. Moreover, the modified formula for calculating of theoretical flame temperature before tuyere is established. The effect of the ratio of reduced SiO2 in raceway and the temperature of coke into raceway on the theoretical flame temperature has been determined quantitatively. With the modified formula, the effect of pulverized coal ash on theoretical flame temperature before tuyere has been discussed under the condition of oxygen-enriched high rate pulverized coal injection.

Abstract

COREX process is the only one commercially operating smelting reduction of currently iron making technology. One of the main parameters to measure the thermal state in COREX melter gasifier is the theoretical flame temperature (TFT) before tuyere, which is important to maintain the stability of the hearth. Based on the basic principles of calculating TFT in thermodynamics combined the relevant experimental results, the parameters such as the ratio of reduced SiO2 before tuyere, the temperature of coke and semi-coke into tuyere raceway, and the coking rates of lump coals have been determined. Afterwards, the TFT before tuyere in COREX melter gasifier has been calculated. Moreover, the effects of different injection coals under different PCI conditions and other parameters on TFT have also been discussed which helps to provide a theoretical foundation to control a proper TFT in melter gasifier.

Abstract

With the recent commissioning of a gas-filled recoil separator at Institute of Modern Physics (IMP) in Lanzhou, the decay properties of 271Ds (Z = 110) were studied via the 208Pb(64Ni, n) reaction at a beam energy of 313.3MeV. Based on the separator coupled with a position sensitive silicon strip detector, we carried out the energy-position-time correlation measurements for the implanted nucleus and its subsequent decay ??'s. One ??- decay chain for 271Ds was established. The α energy and decay time of the 271Ds nucleus were measured to be 10.644MeV and 96.8 ms, which are consistent with the values reported in the literature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
