1. Assessment of future habitat suitability and ecological vulnerability of Collichthys at population and species level

Abstract: Abstract Background Global warming and extreme weather events driven by greenhouse gas emissions are significantly impacting fish survival and reproduction, leading to dramatic consequences for marine biodiversity and ecosystem stability. Comparative analysis of closely related species from a phylogenetic perspective provides valuable insights for biodiversity conservation efforts. The study investigates the effects of climate change on the suitability of habitat and ecological vulnerability of two important sibling fishes, Collichthys lucidus and Collichthys niveatus, in the western Pacific. Results This study found that the main driver of ecological niche differences between the two species is the niche contraction of C. niveatus. Predictions from species distribution models indicate that C. lucidus has a wider distribution and greater adaptability under future climate scenarios. Both species will experience significant habitat loss and heightened ecological vulnerability in the southern Yellow Sea. Additionally, the two populations of C. lucidus in the Yangtze River estuary display different levels of ecological vulnerability. These two species also exhibit distinct responses to environmental factors such as temperature and chlorophyll concentration. Conclusion The study’s findings indicate that climate change will accelerate the population differentiation of C. lucidus and the habitat loss of C. niveatus. These results underscore the importance of prioritizing the southern Yellow Sea in future research and emphasize the necessity of developing adaptive conservation strategies for both species.

Abstract: Abstract We explore the decay of bound neutrons in the JUNO liquid scintillator detector into invisible particles (e.g., $$n\rightarrow 3 \nu $$ n → 3 ν or $$nn \rightarrow 2 \nu $$ n n → 2 ν ), which do not produce an observable signal. The invisible decay includes two decay modes: $$ n \rightarrow { inv} $$ n → inv and $$ nn \rightarrow { inv} $$ n n → inv . The invisible decays of s-shell neutrons in $$^{12}\textrm{C}$$ 12 C will leave a highly excited residual nucleus. Subsequently, some de-excitation modes of the excited residual nuclei can produce a time- and space-correlated triple coincidence signal in the JUNO detector. Based on a full Monte Carlo simulation informed with the latest available data, we estimate all backgrounds, including inverse beta decay events of the reactor antineutrino $${\bar{\nu }}_e$$ ν ¯ e , natural radioactivity, cosmogenic isotopes and neutral current interactions of atmospheric neutrinos. Pulse shape discrimination and multivariate analysis techniques are employed to further suppress backgrounds. With two years of exposure, JUNO is expected to give an order of magnitude improvement compared to the current best limits. After 10 years of data taking, the JUNO expected sensitivities at a 90% confidence level are $$\tau /B( n \rightarrow { inv} ) > 5.0 \times 10^{31} \, \textrm{years}$$ τ / B ( n → inv ) > 5.0 × 10 31 years and $$\tau /B( nn \rightarrow { inv} ) > 1.4 \times 10^{32} \, \textrm{years}$$ τ / B ( n n → inv ) > 1.4 × 10 32 years .

3. Predicting upper limb motor recovery in subacute stroke patients via fNIRS-measured cerebral functional responses induced by robotic training

Abstract: Abstract Background Neural activation induced by upper extremity robot-assisted training (UE-RAT) helps characterize adaptive changes in the brains of poststroke patients, revealing differences in recovery potential among patients. However, it remains unclear whether these task-related neural activities can effectively predict rehabilitation outcomes. In this study, we utilized functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) to measure participants’ neural activity profiles during resting and UE-RAT tasks and developed models via machine learning to verify whether task-related functional brain responses can predict the recovery of upper limb motor function. Methods Cortical activation and brain network functional connectivity (FC) in brain regions such as the superior frontal cortex, premotor cortex, and primary motor cortex were measured using fNIRS in 82 subacute stroke patients in the resting state and during UE-RAT. The Fugl-Meyer Upper Extremity Assessment Scale (FMA-UE) was chosen as the index for assessing upper extremity motor function, and clinical information such as demographic and neurophysiological data was also collected. Robust features were screened in 100 randomly divided training sets using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) method. Based on the selected robust features, machine learning algorithms were used to develop clinical models, fNIRS models, and combined models that integrated both clinical and fNIRS features. Finally, Shapley Additive Explanations (SHAP) was applied to interpret the prediction process and analyze key predictive factors. Results Compared to the resting state, task-related FC is a more robust feature for modeling, with screening frequencies above 90%. The combined models built using artificial neural networks (ANNs) and support vector machines (SVMs) significantly outperformed the other algorithms, with an average AUC of 0.861 (± 0.087) for the ANN and an average correlation coefficient (r) of 0.860 (± 0.069) for the SVM. Furthermore, predictive factor analysis of the models revealed that FC measured during tasks is the most important factor for predicting upper limb motor function. Conclusion This study confirmed that UE-RAT-induced FC can serve as an important predictor of rehabilitation, especially when combined with clinical information, further enhancing the accuracy of model predictions. These findings provide new insights for the early prediction of patients’ recovery potential, which may contribute to personalized rehabilitation decisions.

4. Combined transcriptome and whole genome sequencing analyses reveal candidate drug-resistance genes of Eimeria tenella

Abstract: Summary: Avian coccidiosis is a widespread intestinal disease found in poultry that causes substantial economic losses. To extensively investigate the molecular mechanism of drug resistance in Eimeria tenella, we analyzed the sporozoites and second-generation merozoites of drug-sensitive (DS), diclazuril-resistant (DZR) strain, and salinomycin-resistant (SMR) strains of E. tenella through transcriptome sequencing. Whole genome sequencing analyses were performed on resistant strains at different concentrations—11 sensitive strains, 16 field diclazuril-resistant strains, and 15 field salinomycin-resistant strains of E. tenella. Co-analysis indicated that the ABC transporter protein showed differential expression and base mutations in the two resistant strains compared with the DS strain. KEGG pathway analysis demonstrated that the expression of pABAS and HPPK-DHPS, which are associated with the folate biosynthetic pathway, showed downregulation only in the DZR strain with respect to the DS strain. Several key enzymes in the glycolytic pathway were differentially expressed between DS and SMR strains.

Abstract: Global climate change presents substantial threats to marine ecosystems, with particularly profound impacts on widely distributed migratory species. The basking shark (Cetorhinus maximus), the second-largest fish species, faces significant conservation challenges due to overfishing, habitat degradation, and climate change, necessitating urgent research to address knowledge gaps in its spatial distribution and interactions with changing marine environments. This study employs various environmental variables and distribution data to construct a global species distribution model for basking sharks, predicting their distribution patterns under current and future climate scenarios. The results indicate that chlorophyll, sea surface temperature, silicate and mixed layer depth are the primary factors determining habitat suitability for basking sharks. Under high-emission scenarios (Shared Socioeconomic Pathway, SSP5–8.5), our model predicts a shift toward the higher latitudes of the northern hemisphere in basking shark habitats, including temperate and sub-Arctic waters. Ecological corridor analysis identifies critical migratory pathways and pinch points, emphasizing the importance of incorporating the effects of climate change and human activities in the formulation of conservation strategies. The finding underscores the importance of integrated conservation strategies, highlighting how positive human interventions can aid in accurately identifying critical ecological corridors to ensure the long-term survival of the basking shark. Adaptive, science-based conservation measures are crucial to mitigating the effects of climate change and human activities, supporting the resilience of marine ecosystems.

Abstract: The rice-fish co-culture system (RFS) is a traditional cooperative farming model employed in southern China that can achieve doubling the harvest of rice (Oryza sp.) and fish. Most studies on RFS have focused on ecological mechanisms, benefits, ecosystem services, and agroecosystem functions; however, little is known about the baseline dietary composition in common carp of RFS, particularly across different developmental stages. In this study, we applied DNA metabarcoding of invertebrates (COI) and plants (Rbcl) to investigate the natural diets of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) across three developmental stages: juvenile (May), sub-adult (July), and adult (September). The animal-derived diets of common carp were dominated by prey from the orders Diptera, Lepidoptera, and Hemiptera, and the main plant-derived food items belonged to the families Poaceae, Araceae, and Hydrocharitaceae. We examined variations in the dietary compositions of common carp across three developmental stages to capture adaptations to seasonal changes in food resource availability. Additionally, we detected insect pests (species from the genera Macrosteles and Mythimna) and weeds (Eleusine indica, Alternanthera philoxeroides, Mazus japonicus, and Poa annua) in the diets of common carp, confirming the ecological benefits of common carp in rice fields by reducing insect pests and weeds. Characterizing the dietary composition and variation of common carp over developmental stages contributes to our understanding of its foraging ecology, dietary niche, and dynamics of trophic interactions, and provides critical information for evaluating the ecological benefits of common carp in RFS.

Its charged surface and easy hydration hinder the mutual contact between particles, keeping the suspension stable dispersion and worsen the sedimentation of slime water. Based on sedimentationexperiments, we studied the effects of common metal cations Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+and Al3+ on the sedimental characteristics of montmorillonite. Meanwhile, the mechanism of various metal cations in the hydration and sedimentation behavior of montmorillonite was investigated by using microcalorimeter, Zeta potential analyzer and infrared spectrometer. The experiment results show that, adding Al3+ and Ca2+ to montmorillonite suspension or montmorillonite-containing slime water can result into smaller sedimentation compressed layer and lower turbidity of the supernatant. So, Al3+ and Ca2+ show better performance in thesedimentation when compared with Na+, K+, Mg2+. The mechanism analysis shows that metal cations compress the electric double layer on the surface of montmorillonite, thus inhibit the hydration of montmorillonite, and are conducive to the agglomeration and sedimentation of montmorillonite. Abstract: Organic carbon (OC) burial in the Antarctic marginal seas is essential for regulating global climate, particularly due to its association with ice shelf retreat. Here, we analyzed total OC (TOC), total nitrogen (TN), radiocarbon isotope, n-alkanes and relative indicators in surface and core sediments from the Ross Sea, West Antarctica. Our aim was to investigate spatial and historical changes in OC sources, and to explore the influencing factors and implications for ice shelf retreat since the last glacial maximum (LGM). Our results revealed distinct spatial patterns of OC sources as indicated by n-alkane indicators in surface sediments. In the Western Ross Sea, n-alkanes predominantly originated from phytoplankton and bacteria, as evidenced by their unimodal distribution, low carbon preference index (CPI) of short-chain n-alkanes (CPIL = 1.41 ± 0.30), and low terrestrial/aquatic ratio (TAR = 0.22 ± 0.14). In the Southwest Ross Sea, n-alkanes were derived from marine algae and terrestrial bryophytes, indicated by bimodal distribution, low ratio of low/high molecular-weight n-alkanes (L/H = 0.62 ± 0.21), low CPI of long-chain n-alkanes (CPIH = 1.18 ± 0.16), and high TAR (1.26 ± 0.66). In contrast, the Eastern Ross Sea exhibited n-alkanes that were a combination of phytoplankton and dust from Antarctic soils and/or leaf waxes from mid-latitude higher plant, as suggested by both unimodal and bimodal distributions, high L/H (1.60 ± 0.58) and CPIH (2.04 ± 0.28), and medium TAR (0.61 ± 0.30). Geologically, during the LGM (27.3 – 21.0 ka before present (BP)), there was an increased supply of terrestrial OC (TOC/TN = 13.63 ± 1.29, bimodal distribution of n-alkanes with main carbon peaks at nC17/nC19 and nC27). From 21.0 to 8.2 ka BP, as glaciers retreated and temperatures rose, the proportion of marine n-alkanes significantly increased (TOC/TN = 9.09 ± 1.82, bimodal distribution of n-alkanes with main carbon peaks at nC18/nC19 and nC25). From 8.2 ka BP to the present, as the ice shelf continued to retreat to its current position, the marine contribution became dominant (TOC/TN = 8.18 ± 0.51, unimodal distribution of n-alkanes with main carbon peak at nC17/nC18/nC19, and low TAR (0.41 ± 0.32)). Abstract: A phenylethanoid glycoside known as echinacoside has demonstrated promising anticancer properties against numerous cancer cell types. However, its pharmacokinetics or anticancer mechanism has remained unclear. Herein, the interaction of the echinacoside with human serum albumin (HSA) was explored by intrinsic/extrinsic fluorescence spectroscopy, circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy as well as molecular docking simulation. Also, the anticancer effects and possible mechanism of action of the echinacoside against hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells, MHCC-97-H with high tumorgenicity and metastasis, were assessed by cell viability, flow cytometry, qRT-PCR, and western blot assays. The results showed a static quenching mechanism in the formation of echinacoside-HSA complex, one binding site on HSA for echinacoside, contribution of hydrophobic interactions (PHE157, GLU188 and PRO447), and slight conformational changes of HSA in the complex form. Cellular assays disclosed that treatment with echinacoside concentration-dependently mitigated the proliferation of MHCC97-H cells in vitro with an IC50 concentration of around 30 µM. Also, echinacoside triggered apoptosis through the regulation of caspase-3 at mRNA and protein levels. Moreover, echinacoside reduced the expression of astrocyte elevated gene-1 (AEG-1) and N-cadherin, while enhancing the expression of E-cadherin, as the main hallmarks of epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) in tumorigenicity and metastasis. Therefore, these data indicated that echinacoside with a promising binding affinity with HSA in a mimicking physiological condition may inhibit the proliferation and metastatic activity of MHCC97-H cells mediated by manipulation of the AEG-1/EMT pathway.

Abstract: Objective: In this work, the optimal preparation process parameters of selenium-curcumin nanoparticles (SeNPs@Cur) were explored and its protective effect on alcoholic liver injury was evaluated. Methods: On the basis of single factor experiment, with particle size as the index, curcumin dosage, molar ratio of VC to Na2SeO3, reaction time and reaction temperature were selected as influence factors. The process parameters of SeNPs@Cur were optimized by response surface methodology, and its structure was characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FT-IR) and energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS). The protective effect of SeNPs@Cur on ethanol-induced LO2 cell injury was investigated by MTT method. Results: The optimal conditions of SeNPs@Cur were list as follows: Curcumin dosage of 5.92 mg/mL, molar ratio of VC to Na2SeO3 of 10.39:1, the reaction time of 1.98 h, and the reaction temperature of 34.00 ℃. Under these conditions, the SeNPs@Cur with a minimum size of (100.79±3.46) nm was obtained. The loading rate of curcumin and the selenium content in the sample were 12.80%±0.80% and 23.32%±0.07%, respectively. Further structural identification showed that the prepared SeNPs@Cur was dispersed spherical nanoparticles. Moreover, compared with the model group, after treatments with different dosages of SeNPs@Cur, the cell viabilities increased from 58.06%±0.43% to 71.43%±1.39%, 77.33%±3.54%, and 85.41%±4.61%, respectively, indicating that SeNPs@Cur had a protective effect on LO2 cells damaged by ethanol in a concentration-dependent manner. Conclusion: The SeNPs@Cur with anti-alcoholic liver injury effect was successfully obtained, which provided new technical means and theoretical reference data for formulation improvement and application of curcumin.

11. Energy Performance-Oriented Multi-Objective Optimization of Spatial Form of High-Rise Residential Blocks in the Changsha Region

Abstract: Optimizing urban spatial form has become an important research topic for promoting urban sustainable development and improving energy efficiency. This study selects 164 high-rise residential blocks in the Changsha area as the research object and constructs three multi-objective optimization frameworks and mathematical models for the spatial form of high-rise residential blocks based on the Rhino and Grasshopper parametric platform. The TOPSIS comprehensive evaluation method is combined to further screen the Pareto front solutions, and global sensitivity analysis of spatial form parameters is conducted using Simlab to explore the multi-objective optimization strategies for the spatial form of high-rise residential blocks in the Changsha area, guided by energy performance. Practical cases are selected for verification. The results show that, (1) after multi-objective optimization, the optimal scheme for the determinant type reduces EUI by 7.22%, increases PVP by 28.84%, and reduces CGR by 2.21%. The optimal scheme for the point-cluster type reduces EUI by 3.80%, increases PVP by 7.34%, and reduces CGR by 2.30%. The optimal scheme for the staggered type reduces EUI by 6.66%, increases PVP by 17.65%, and reduces CGR by 2.26%. (2) The potential order of spatial form optimization for the three types of high-rise residential blocks in the Changsha area is determinant type > staggered type > point-cluster type. (3) The spatial form parameters most sensitive to the three architectural performance goals of EUI, PVP, and CGR are floor area ratio and average number of floors. The research results will provide quantifiable references for scientific decision-making in the design practice of high-rise residential blocks in the Changsha area and even in regions with hot summers and cold winters.

Abstract: FESS (flywheel energy storage system) motor is used in important load fields for instance rail transit; meanwhile the power flow is formed through the connection between FESS (flywheel energy storage system) and power grid system, which can critically improve the power flow fluctuation caused by new energy grid integration regarding wind and photovoltaic generation concerning that the motor speed in FESS is related to its energy storage capacity. Aiming at the limitation of current low motor speed in the FESS, this article puts forward a high-speed grid-connected FESS, and designs a model via the proposed dual-PWM two-stage control form, which is named as double closed-loop control. In this article, the FESS, as well as the power grid system, is analyzed and simulated in three stages: charging, pre-grid connection and grid connection. In this way, the flywheel motor speed and DC bus voltage signal are sampled to design the flywheel motor side with the proposed method. Then the grid-connected double closed-loop control method is designed for the sampling observation points, which realizes the efficient design on the control strategy of proposed high-speed grid-connected FESS and the verification of voltage and current parameters. The simulation experiments show that the operation process of the grid-connected FESS motor obtains its rapid speed response characteristic, which can meet the proposed design requirements during the charging and discharging process.

Abstract: A focused crawler automatically retrieves, organizes, and extracts specific topic-related information from the internet for analysis and application. Currently, most focused crawlers assess the relevance of web pages to a given topic through methods such as keyword matching, semantic analysis, and link structures. However, these existing focused crawlers suffer from issues such as misleading directions and reduced accuracy due to the lack of semantic analysis of topic terms, as well as biased computation of topic relevance caused by the absence of effective weighting factors. To solve the above-mentioned problems, this study proposes a semantic and optimized focused crawler based on Semantic Graph and Genetic Algorithm. The proposed crawler eliminates ambiguous terms by constructing a semantic graph, optimizes the weighting factors of topic relevance with asymmetry by using a genetic algorithm, and combines both above two points to predict the priority of each unvisited hyperlink. The experiment results indicate that the proposed SG-GA Crawler improves the evaluation indicators compared with the other three focused crawlers, including VSM Crawler, SSRM Crawler, and SG Crawler. More specifically, the percentage improvement achieved by the proposed method exceeds 19%, 19%, and 13% in terms of three evaluation indicators, including the number of relevant web pages, acquisition rate, and average relevance, respectively. In conclusion, the proposed focused crawler can grab more quantity and higher quality topic-related web pages from the Internet.

Abstract: This study examines the challenges related to the storage and distribution of cabin materials on board during the construction of cruise ships. The construction process of cruise ships involves the assembly of various cabin materials, which are temporarily stored and transported in a complex deck environment with multiple obstacles. These processes can be viewed as location-routing problems (LRPs). However, existing solutions for LRPs do not account for the obstacles commonly encountered in deck environments. Therefore, this paper introduces a new variant of LRPs, termed as the BE-LRP (blocking environment location-routing problem). Initially, by considering the optimization objectives of minimizing the distribution distance and the number of vehicles required, the paper develops an optimization model for the location-routing of on-board materials while taking obstacles into consideration. Subsequently, a method for estimating blocked distances is proposed. This method utilizes Gaussian process regression to predict blocked distances and enables the rapid estimation of distances obstructed by obstacles between different destinations. Lastly, a hybrid obstacle blocking distance processing HO-NSGAII algorithm is formulated to address the BE-LRP. Experimental comparisons demonstrate that the distribution scheme derived from this research method does not necessitate modifications to the delivery distance when compared to the traditional NSGAII algorithm, and better aligns with the actual deck conditions. With an equivalent number of delivery vehicles, the scheme results in shorter delivery distances. The delivery distance can be reduced by 3–17% under varying circumstances. These findings are advantageous for enhancing the efficiency of cruise ship construction and mitigating the impact of warehousing and distribution on construction progress.

Abstract: Hyper-heuristic algorithms are known for their flexibility and efficiency, making them suitable for solving engineering optimization problems with complex constraints. This paper introduces a self-learning hyper-heuristic algorithm based on a genetic algorithm (GA-SLHH) designed to tackle the logistics scheduling problem of prefabricated modular cabin units (PMCUs) in cruise ships. This problem can be regarded as a multi-objective fuzzy logistics collaborative scheduling problem. Hyper-heuristic algorithms effectively avoid the extensive evaluation and repair of infeasible solutions during the iterative process, which is a common issue in meta-heuristic algorithms. The GA-SLHH employs a genetic algorithm combined with a self-learning strategy as its high-level strategy (HLS), optimizing low-level heuristics (LLHs) while uncovering potential relationships between adjacent decision-making stages. LLHs utilize classic scheduling rules as solution support. Multiple sets of numerical experiments demonstrate that the GA-SLHH exhibits a stronger comprehensive optimization ability and stability when solving this problem. Finally, the validity of the GA-SLHH in addressing real-world decision-making issues in cruise ship manufacturing companies is validated through practical enterprise cases. The results of a practical enterprise case show that the scheme solved using the proposed GA-SLHH can reduce the transportation time by up to 37%.

Abstract: Abstract The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) is a multi-purpose experiment, under construction in southeast China, that is designed to determine the neutrino mass ordering and precisely measure neutrino oscillation parameters. Monte Carlo simulation plays an important role for JUNO detector design, detector commissioning, offline data processing, and physics processing. The JUNO experiment has the world’s largest liquid scintillator detector instrumented with many thousands of PMTs. The broad energy range of interest, long lifetime, and the large scale present data processing challenges across all areas. This paper describes the JUNO simulation software, highlighting the challenges of JUNO simulation and solutions to meet these challenges, including such issues as support for time-correlated analysis, event mixing, event correlation and handling the simulation of many millions of optical photons.

Abstract: Microplastics are ubiquitous in soil ecosystems, and they have attracted widespread attention owing to their accumulation, migration and diffusion in soil environments and their negative effects on the environment and human health. However, previous studies on microplastics have predominantly concentrated on aquatic environments, and their presence in soil ecosystems has seldom been studied systematically. This review presents a systematic analysis of the current research on soil microplastics based on the available literature from 2016 to 2023 using CiteSpace. The most influential journals, authors and countries in this field were identified. Keyword co-occurrence analysis was performed to determine research hotspots, and cluster analysis was employed to provide an accurate summary of this field. Furthermore, burst detection was used to explore research fronts. This review reveals the increasing depth and diversity of research on soil microplastics and discusses potential research fronts for future studies in this field.

Abstract: Eimeria tenella, an intestinal parasite, has brought huge economic losses to the poultry industry. The prevalence and severity of the development of drug resistance has increased the challenge of coccidiosis control. We previously identified the enolase 2 of E. tenella (EtENO2) was differentially expressed in drug-sensitive (DS) and drug-resistant strains using RNA-seq. In this study, the expression of EtENO2 in diclazuril-resistant (DZR), maduramicin-resistant (MRR), and salinomycin-resistant (SMR) strains was analyzed by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) and western blots. EtENO2 was highly expressed in several drug-resistant strains compared with the DS strain. The qRT-PCR showed that the transcription level of EtENO2 in the field-isolated resistant strains was upregulated compared with the DS strain. The enzyme activity results indicated that the catalytic activity of EtENO2 in the drug-resistant strains was higher than in the DS strain. In addition, qRT-PCR and western blots showed that the expression level of EtENO2 was higher in second generation merozoites (SM) and unsporulated oocysts (UO) than that in sporozoites (SZ) and sporulated oocysts (SO). Immunofluorescence localization revealed that EtENO2 was distributed throughout SZ and SM and on the surface of the parasites. After the SZ invasion DF-1 cells, it was also observed on the parasitophorous vacuole membrane. Our secretion experiments found that EtENO2 could be secreted outside the SZ. This study indicated that EtENO2 might be related to the interaction between E. tenella and host cells and be involved in the development of E. tenella resistance to some anticoccidial drugs.

Abstract: Abstract Main goal of the JUNO experiment is to determine the neutrino mass ordering using a 20 kt liquid-scintillator detector. Its key feature is an excellent energy resolution of at least 3% at 1 MeV, for which its instruments need to meet a certain quality and thus have to be fully characterized. More than 20,000 20-inch PMTs have been received and assessed by JUNO after a detailed testing program which began in 2017 and elapsed for about four years. Based on this mass characterization and a set of specific requirements, a good quality of all accepted PMTs could be ascertained. This paper presents the performed testing procedure with the designed testing systems as well as the statistical characteristics of all 20-inch PMTs intended to be used in the JUNO experiment, covering more than fifteen performance parameters including the photocathode uniformity. This constitutes the largest sample of 20-inch PMTs ever produced and studied in detail to date, i.e. 15,000 of the newly developed 20-inch MCP-PMTs from Northern Night Vision Technology Co. (NNVT) and 5000 of dynode PMTs from Hamamatsu Photonics K. K.(HPK).

Abstract: Recently, graph convolutional networks (GCNs) has attracted wide attention on the wetland classification with limited samples. However, traditional approaches of superpixel generation rely on artificial experience and the spatial information is ignored during the construction of graph structure, which limits the classification performance. To address these problems, a feature-guided dynamic graph convolutional network (FG-DGCN) is proposed for wetland classification. First, a learnable superpixel generation module is proposed to generate adaptive superpixel boundaries, which composed of a pixel-wise feature enhancement block and a superpixel generation block. The former is utilized to improve the discrimination of features and the latter is applied to adjust the representation of superpixels by training. Second, a feature-guided adjacency matrix update mechanism is designed to dynamically capture and fuse the spectral and spatial correlations of graph nodes, promoting the aggregation of neighborhood information. Finally, the features are differentially projected back to the pixel space for wetland classification. Experiments on three wetland datasets demonstrate the superiority of FG-DGCN over state-of-the-art methods.

Abstract: In the context of increasingly competitive shipbuilding, the flexible multi-level picking system, composed of high-rise shelves, Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), and picking stations, has been of gradual interest because of its advantages in operation efficiency, system flexibility, and system robustness. Compared with other simple-level systems, the flexible multi-level picking system has a more complex coupling temporal relationship, which makes the scheduling optimization of shipbuilding automated collaborative order picking (SACOP) extremely difficult. In order to avoid the dilemma of finding a feasible and optimal collaborative scheduling scheme under the constraints of a complex temporal relationship, this paper proposed a multi-AGV-driven pallet-picking scheduling optimization (MADPSO) method, which takes the AGV scheduling scheme as the direct solution and modifies it to a feasible solution under the reasonably designed interaction strategy of stacker, AGV, and the interaction strategy of picking station, AGV. Furthermore, taking the minimum energy consumption and operation time as the optimization objectives, a multi-objective optimization mathematical model was established to describe MADPSO, and an improved NSGA-III algorithm was designed to solve the problem. Finally, several experiments were conducted in various scenarios and verified that using MADPSO can achieve a comprehensive optimization index improvement of 52.02–75.66% compared with traditional picking methods, which has a certain reference significance for shipyards.

Abstract: The development of science and technology has been increasingly linked with the implementation of science and technology innovation (STI) policies with important strategic significance for promoting national and regional innovation. In actual implementation, many types of STI policies are often combined for a joint effect; however, existing studies tend to focus on the effect of a single policy. The system simulation method can break through the limitations of traditional methods in model assumptions and establish a model that is as close to reality as possible. Notably, it is unusual to use the system simulation method to investigate STI policies. Using a system simulation model, this study conducts a detailed analysis to examine the complex causal relationships of STI systems and study the impact and mechanism of STI policy from a systematic perspective. This study quantifies various STI policies, establishing a simulation model to reflect the dynamic behavior of the regional STI policy system. The empirical results demonstrate that when a single type of policy is examined, the STI supply policy has the most significant impact on promoting STI and economic development. When various STI policies are combined, the combination of supply and demand policies has the greatest promotional effect on STI and economic development, whereas the combination of demand and environmental policies has the least promotional effect on STI and economic development. The results also show that the combined effect of various STI policies is not based on the simple addition of the effects of various policies, as there is an apparent synergy phenomenon in the combined STI effects. This study contributes to the existing literature and provides practical insights for policymakers and policy enthusiasts to understand the relationships between STI supply, demand, and environmental policies to advance policy effectiveness and promote sustainable development.

28. Impacts of unifying urban and rural residents’ medical insurance on the hospitalisation expenses of rural patients in eastern China: an interrupted time series analysis

Abstract: Objectives This study evaluated the impact of the Urban and Rural Residents’ Basic Medical Insurance scheme on hospitalisation expenses of rural patients in eastern China, which unified separate healthcare systems for urban and rural residents.Design Monthly hospitalisation data from municipal and county hospitals were collected from the local Medicare Fund Database, covering the period from January 2018 to December 2021. The unification of insurance between urban and rural patients was implemented at different times for county and municipal hospitals. An interrupted time series analysis was used to assess the immediate and gradual effects of the integrated policy on the total medical expenses, out-of-pocket (OOP) expenses and effective reimbursement rate (ERR) among rural patients.Setting and participants This study included 636 155 rural inpatients over 4 years in Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province, China.Results In January 2020, the policy of urban and rural medical insurance was initially integrated in county hospitals, after which the ERR decreased at a monthly rate of 0.23% (p=0.002, 95% CI −0.37% to −0.09%) compared with the preintervention period. After the insurance systems were unified in municipal hospitals in January 2021, OOP expenses decreased by ¥63.54 (p=0.002, 95% CI −102.48 to −24.61) and the ERR increased at a monthly rate of 0.24% (p=0.029, 95% CI 0.03% to 0.045%).Conclusions Our results suggest that the unification of urban and rural medical insurance systems was an effective intervention to reduce the financial burden of illness for rural inpatients, especially OOP expenses for hospitalisation in municipal hospitals.

Abstract: Abstract We study damping signatures at the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), a medium-baseline reactor neutrino oscillation experiment. These damping signatures are motivated by various new physics models, including quantum decoherence, ν 3 decay, neutrino absorption, and wave packet decoherence. The phenomenological effects of these models can be characterized by exponential damping factors at the probability level. We assess how well JUNO can constrain these damping parameters and how to disentangle these different damping signatures at JUNO. Compared to current experimental limits, JUNO can significantly improve the limits on τ 3/m 3 in the ν 3 decay model, the width of the neutrino wave packet σ x , and the intrinsic relative dispersion of neutrino momentum σ rel.

Abstract: The physics potential of detecting ^8 B solar neutrinos will be exploited at the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), in a model-independent manner by using three distinct channels of the charged current (CC), neutral current (NC), and elastic scattering (ES) interactions. Due to the largest-ever mass of ^13 C nuclei in the liquid scintillator detectors and the expected low background level, ^8 B solar neutrinos are observable in the CC and NC interactions on ^13 C for the first time. By virtue of optimized event selections and muon veto strategies, backgrounds from the accidental coincidence, muon-induced isotopes, and external backgrounds can be greatly suppressed. Excellent signal-to-background ratios can be achieved in the CC, NC, and ES channels to guarantee the observation of the ^8 B solar neutrinos. From the sensitivity studies performed in this work, we show that JUNO, with 10 yr of data, can reach the 1 σ precision levels of 5%, 8%, and 20% for the ^8 B neutrino flux, ${\sin }^{2}{\theta }_{12}$ , and ${\rm{\Delta }}{m}_{21}^{2}$ , respectively. Probing the details of both solar physics and neutrino physics would be unique and helpful. In addition, when combined with the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory measurement, the world's best precision of 3% is expected for the measurement of the ^8 B neutrino flux.

31. Innovative Optimal Control Path Planning for PMCU in Cruise Ship Construction: A Kinematic and Obstacle Avoidance Model

Abstract: In cruise ship manufacturing, it is common practice for prefabricated modular cabin units (PMCU) to be assembled in the workshop and transported to a designated installation location on board the ship. This paper proposed a Radau pseudospectral method based on a probabilistic roadmap (PRM) for PMCU path planning in complex deck environments. Firstly, a kinematic model is constructed, and the continuous-time optimal control path planning problem is established. Among them, an area-based obstacle avoidance constraint is applied to the approach. Then, the continuous-time optimal control problem is discretized into a nonlinear programming (NLP) problem using the orthogonal collocation method. For the initial value-sensitive NLP problem solving, a strategy using PRM combined with a heuristic rule is used to obtain a high-quality initial guess. Finally, experiments under two operating scenarios of PMCU pushing demonstrate that the method is capable of generating a better path while ensuring that the whole process is collision-free. The results show that the algorithm proposed in this paper can effectively solve the PMCU pushing path planning problem in the complex deck environment, and the path considering kinematic characteristics can be used for cabin installation, which has strong operability and applicability.

32. Low content of highly reactive iron in sediments from Prydz Bay and the adjacent Southern Ocean: Controlling factors and implications for sedimentary organic carbon preservation

Abstract: Examining iron (Fe) speciation in marine sediments is critical to understand Fe and carbon biogeochemical cycling in polar regions. In this study, we investigated the speciation of Fe in sediments from Prydz Bay and the adjacent Southern Ocean, and examined the factors controlling Fe speciation and its relationship with total organic carbon (TOC). Our results reveal that unreactive silicate Fe (FeU) is the dominant pool of total Fe (FeT), followed by poorly reactive sheet silicate Fe (FePRS), reducible crystalline Fe oxides (Feox2), easily reducible amorphous/poorly crystalline Fe oxides (Feox1), and magnetite (Femag), with carbonate-associated ferrous Fe (Fecarb) being the smallest pool. The highly reactive Fe (FeHR)/FeT ratios (0.13 ± 0.06) in our study area are among the lowest end-member globally, primarily due to weak bedrock weathering and slow glacier melting. The Feox1/FeT ratios are similar to those in continental shelf and marginal seas containing highly weathered materials, while the Feox2/FeT ratios are significantly lower. This result implicates that low temperature inhibits the aging of iceberg melting-sourced Feox1 potentially, and accordingly the regulation of weathering on the FeHR/FeT ratio is mainly reflected in Feox2/FeT ratio. There are no significant correlations between TOC and FeHR, Fecarb, Feox1 or Feox2 in the research region. Four distinct patterns of TOC/FeHR ratio can be discerned by summarizing the global data set: (a) high TOC/FeHR ratios (> 2.5) are likely the result of high marine primary productivity and low chemically weathered source materials; (b) low TOC/FeHR ratios (< 0.6) are caused by high rates of FeHR inputs and OC remineralization; (c) mid-range TOC/FeHR ratios (0.6 – 2.5) typical of most river particulates and marginal sea sediments indicate the same FeHR and OC sources and/or interactions between each other; (d) both low TOC and FeHR content is the result of low marine primary productivity and weak chemical weathering. Our findings provide new insights into the relationship between FeHR and TOC in polar sediments.

33. Effects of host vimentin on Eimeria tenella sporozoite invasion

Abstract: Abstract Background Chicken coccidiosis is a parasitic disease caused by Eimeria of Apicomplexa, which has caused great economic loss to the poultry breeding industry. Host vimentin is a key protein in the process of infection of many pathogens. In an earlier phosphorylation proteomics study, we found that the phosphorylation level of host vimentin was significantly regulated after Eimeria tenella sporozoite infection. Therefore, we explored the role of host vimentin in the invasion of host cells by sporozoites. Methods Chicken vimentin protein was cloned and expressed. We used qPCR, western blotting, and indirect immunofluorescence to detect levels of mRNA transcription, translation, and phosphorylation, and changes in the distribution of vimentin after E. tenella sporozoite infection. The sporozoite invasion rate in DF-1 cells treated with vimentin polyclonal antibody or with small interfering RNA (siRNA), which downregulated vimentin expression, was assessed by an in vitro invasion test. Results The results showed that vimentin transcription and translation levels increased continually at 6–72 h after E. tenella sporozoite infection, and the total phosphorylation levels of vimentin also changed. About 24 h after sporozoite infection, vimentin accumulated around sporozoites in DF-1 cells. Treating DF-1 cells with vimentin polyclonal antibody or downregulating vimentin expression by siRNA significantly improved the invasion efficiency of sporozoites. Conclusion In this study, we showed that vimentin played an inhibitory role during the invasion of sporozoites. These data provided a foundation for clarifying the relationship between Eimeria and the host. Graphical Abstract

Abstract: Abstract The OSIRIS detector is a subsystem of the liquid scintillator filling chain of the JUNO reactor neutrino experiment. Its purpose is to validate the radiopurity of the scintillator to assure that all components of the JUNO scintillator system work to specifications and only neutrino-grade scintillator is filled into the JUNO Central Detector. The aspired sensitivity level of $$10^{-16}\hbox { g/g}$$ 10 - 16 g/g of $$^{238}\hbox {U}$$ 238 U and $$^{232}\hbox {Th}$$ 232 Th requires a large ( $$\sim 20\,\hbox {m}^3$$ ∼ 20 m 3 ) detection volume and ultralow background levels. The present paper reports on the design and major components of the OSIRIS detector, the detector simulation as well as the measuring strategies foreseen and the sensitivity levels to U/Th that can be reached in this setup.

Abstract: Abstract JUNO is a massive liquid scintillator detector with a primary scientific goal of determining the neutrino mass ordering by studying the oscillated anti-neutrino flux coming from two nuclear power plants at 53 km distance. The expected signal anti-neutrino interaction rate is only 60 counts per day (cpd), therefore a careful control of the background sources due to radioactivity is critical. In particular, natural radioactivity present in all materials and in the environment represents a serious issue that could impair the sensitivity of the experiment if appropriate countermeasures were not foreseen. In this paper we discuss the background reduction strategies undertaken by the JUNO collaboration to reduce at minimum the impact of natural radioactivity. We describe our efforts for an optimized experimental design, a careful material screening and accurate detector production handling, and a constant control of the expected results through a meticulous Monte Carlo simulation program. We show that all these actions should allow us to keep the background count rate safely below the target value of 10 Hz (i.e. ∼1 cpd accidental background) in the default fiducial volume, above an energy threshold of 0.7 MeV.

36. Estimating the Spatial Distribution and Future Conservation Requirements of the Spotted Seal in the North Pacific

Abstract: Local adaptation has been increasingly involved in the designation of species conservation strategies to response to climate change. Marine mammals, as apex predators, are climatechange sensitive, and their spatial distribution and conservation requirements are critically significant for designing protection strategies. In this study, we focused on an ice-breeding marine mammal, the spotted seal (Phoca largha), which exhibits distinct morphological and genetic variations across its range. Our objectives were to quantify the ecological niches of three spotted seal populations, construct the species-level model and population-level models that represent different regions in the Bering population (BDPS), Okhotsk population (ODPS) and southern population (SDPS), and conduct a conservation gap analysis. Our findings unequivocally demonstrated a clear niche divergence among the three populations. We predicted habitat contraction for the BDPS and ODPS driven by climate change; in particular, the spotted seals inhabiting Liaodong Bay may face breeding habitat loss. However, most spotted seal habitats are not represented in existing marine protected areas. Drawing upon these outcomes, we propose appropriate conservation policies to effectively protect the habitat of the different geographical populations of spotted seals. Our research addresses the importance of incorporating local adaptation into species distribution modeling to inform conservation and management strategies.

Abstract: Abstract Atmospheric neutrinos are one of the most relevant natural neutrino sources that can be exploited to infer properties about cosmic rays and neutrino oscillations. The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) experiment, a 20 kton liquid scintillator detector with excellent energy resolution is currently under construction in China. JUNO will be able to detect several atmospheric neutrinos per day given the large volume. A study on the JUNO detection and reconstruction capabilities of atmospheric $$\nu _e$$ ν e and $$\nu _\mu $$ ν μ fluxes is presented in this paper. In this study, a sample of atmospheric neutrino Monte Carlo events has been generated, starting from theoretical models, and then processed by the detector simulation. The excellent timing resolution of the 3” PMT light detection system of JUNO detector and the much higher light yield for scintillation over Cherenkov allow to measure the time structure of the scintillation light with very high precision. Since $$\nu _e$$ ν e and $$\nu _\mu $$ ν μ interactions produce a slightly different light pattern, the different time evolution of light allows to discriminate the flavor of primary neutrinos. A probabilistic unfolding method has been used, in order to infer the primary neutrino energy spectrum from the detector experimental observables. The simulated spectrum has been reconstructed between 100 MeV and 10 GeV, showing a great potential of the detector in the atmospheric low energy region.

Abstract: ObjectivesIn this study, the effect of WeChat use on the subjective health of older adults was examined.MethodsUsing 2018 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) survey data, we attempted to rule out potential endogeneity bias by employing instrumental variable regression to estimate the effects of WeChat use on the health of older individuals. Mobile phone price was chosen as the instrumental variable, and the health of older adults was measured from two aspects: self-rated health and the Center for Epidemiological Studies of Depression Scale (CES-D10).ResultsWeChat use has a significant positive impact on the subjective health of older adults and can significantly improve their self-rated health and mental health status. WeChat use has significant positive effects on the subjective health of both older men and women, but relatively younger older adults obtain more health benefits from WeChat use.ConclusionThe virtual social participation prompted by WeChat use affects the health of older adults. This finding provides a reference for promoting the active integration of older adults into digital life.

39. Effects of robot-assisted task-oriented upper limb motor training on neuroplasticity in stroke patients with different degrees of motor dysfunction: A neuroimaging motor evaluation index

Abstract: IntroductionAlthough robot-assisted task-oriented upper limb (UL) motor training had been shown to be effective for UL functional rehabilitation after stroke, it did not improve UL motor function more than conventional therapy. Due to the lack of evaluation of neurological indicators, it was difficult to confirm the robot treatment parameters and clinical efficacy in a timely manner. This study aimed to explore the changes in neuroplasticity induced by robot-assisted task-oriented UL motor training in different degrees of dysfunction patients and extract neurological evaluation indicators to provide the robot with additional parameter information.Materials and methodsA total of 33 adult patients with hemiplegic motor impairment after stroke were recruited as participants in this study, and a manual muscle test divided patients into muscle strength 0–1 level (severe group, n = 10), 2–3 level (moderate group, n = 14), and 4 or above level (mild group, n = 9). Tissue concentration of oxyhemoglobin and deoxyhemoglobin oscillations in the bilateral prefrontal cortex, dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), superior frontal cortex (SFC), premotor cortex, primary motor cortex (M1), primary somatosensory cortex (S1), and occipital cortex were measured by functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) in resting and motor training state. The phase information of a 0.01 −0.08 Hz signal was identified by the wavelet transform method. The wavelet amplitude, lateralization index, and wavelet phase coherence (WPCO) were calculated to describe the frequency-specific cortical changes.ResultsCompared with the resting state, significant increased cortical activation was observed in ipsilesional SFC in the mild group and bilateral SFC in the moderate group during UL motor training. Patients in the mild group demonstrated significantly decreased lateralization of activation in motor training than resting state. Moreover, the WPCO value of motor training between contralesional DLPFC and ipsilesional SFC, bilateral SFC, contralesional, S1, and ipsilesional M1 showed a significant decrease compared with the resting state in the mild group.ConclusionRobot-assisted task-oriented UL motor training could modify the neuroplasticity of SFC and contribute to control movements and continuous learning motor regularity for patients. fNIRS could provide a variety of real-time sensitive neural evaluation indicators for the robot, which was beneficial to formulating more reasonable and effective personalized prescriptions during motor training.

40. Different Cortex Activation and Functional Connectivity in Executive Function Between Young and Elder People During Stroop Test: An fNIRS Study

Abstract: ObjectiveThe objective of this study was to examine the activation and functional connectivity of the prefrontal and temporal lobe in young and elder people during the Stroop test using functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS).MethodsA total of 33 healthy volunteers (20 young people, mean age: 23.7 ± 3.9 years; 13 elder people, mean age: 63.9 ± 4.0 years) participated in the study. All subjects were asked to finish the Stroop Color Word Test. The oxygenated hemoglobin concentration (Delta [HbO2]) signals and the deoxygenated hemoglobin (Delta [HbR]) signals were recorded from temporopolar area (TA), pars triangularis Broca's area (Broca), dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), and frontopolar area (FA) by fNIRS. The coherence between the left and right frontotemporal lobe delta [HbO2] oscillations in four frequency intervals (I, 0.6–2 Hz; II, 0.145–0.6 Hz; III, 0.052–0.145 Hz; and IV, 0.021–0.052 Hz) was analyzed using wavelet coherence analysis and wavelet phase coherent.ResultsIn the Stroop test, the young group was significantly better than the elder group at the responses time, whether at congruent tasks or at incongruent tasks (congruent: F = 250.295, p < 0.001; incongruent: p < 0.001). The accuracy of the two groups differed significantly when performing incongruent tasks but not when performing congruent tasks (incongruent: F = 9.498, p = 0.001; congruent: p = 0.254). Besides, only elders show significant activation in DLPFC, Broca, FA, and TA (p < 0.05) during the Stroop test, but young people did not show significant differences. In the functional connectivity of task states, younger people had stronger connections between different brain regions in both the left and right brain compared with the elderly (p < 0.05). In particular, the left and right DLPFC showed stronger connection strength in most of the brain areas. The result suggested that younger people had stronger functional connectivity of brain areas than older people when completing the task.ConclusionAccording to these results, although the cortical activation in the elder people was higher than the young people, the young showed stronger connectivity in most of the brain areas than the elders. Both sides of DLPFC and right Broca area were the most significant cortical activation in Stroop test. It was suggested that the decrease in functional connectivity in the elder people resulted in the atrophy of white matter, to which we should pay more attention.

41. Hypoproliferative human neural progenitor cell xenografts survived extendedly in the brain of immunocompetent rats

Abstract: Abstract Background There is a huge controversy about whether xenograft or allograft in the “immune-privileged” brain needs immunosuppression. In animal studies, the prevailing sophisticated use of immunosuppression or immunodeficient animal is detrimental for the recipients, which results in a short lifespan of animals, confounds functional behavioral readout of the graft benefits, and discourages long-term follow-up. Methods Neuron-restricted neural progenitor cells (NPCs) were derived from human embryonic stem cells (ESCs, including H1, its gene-modified cell lines for better visualization, and HN4), propagated for different passages, and then transplanted into the brain of immunocompetent rats without immunosuppressants. The graft survivals, their cell fates, and HLA expression levels were examined over time (up to 4 months after transplantation). We compared the survival capability of NPCs from different passages and in different transplantation sites (intra-parenchyma vs. para- and intra-cerebroventricle). The host responses to the grafts were also investigated. Results Our results show that human ESC-derived neuron-restricted NPCs survive extendedly in adult rat brain parenchyma with no need of immunosuppression whereas a late-onset graft rejection seems inevitable. Both donor HLA antigens and host MHC-II expression level remain relatively low with little change over time and cannot predict the late-onset rejection. The intra-/para-cerebroventricular human grafts are more vulnerable to the immune attack than the intrastriatal counterparts. Prevention of graft hyperplasia by using hypoproliferative late passaged human NPCs further significantly extends the graft survival time. Our new data also shows that a subpopulation of host microglia upregulate MHC-II expression in response to the human graft, but fail to present the human antigen to the host immune system, suggestive of the immune-isolation role of the blood–brain barrier (BBB). Conclusions The present study confirms the “immune privilege” of the brain parenchyma and, more importantly, unveils that choosing hypoproliferative NPCs for transplantation can benefit graft outcome in terms of both lower tumor-genic risk and the prolonged survival time without immunosuppression.

43. Electronic Poiseuille flow in hexagonal boron nitride encapsulated graphene field effect transistors

Abstract: Electron-electron interactions in graphene are sufficiently strong to induce a correlated and momentum-conserving flow such that charge carriers behave similarly to the Hagen-Poiseuille flow of a classical fluid. In the current work, we investigate the electronic signatures of such a viscous charge flow in high-mobility graphene field effect transistors (FETs). In two complementary measurement schemes, we monitor differential resistance of graphene for different channel widths and for different effective electron temperatures. By combining both approaches, the presence of viscous effects is verified in a temperature range starting from 178 K and extending up to room temperature. Our experimental findings are supported by finite element calculations of the graphene channel, which also provide design guidelines for device geometries that exhibit increased viscous effects. The presence of viscous effects near room temperature opens up avenues for functional hydrodynamic devices such as geometric rectifiers like a Tesla valve and charge amplifiers based on the electronic Venturi effect.

Abstract: Abstract We present the calibration strategy for the 20 kton liquid scintillator central detector of the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO). By utilizing a comprehensive multiple-source and multiple-positional calibration program, in combination with a novel dual calorimetry technique exploiting two independent photosensors and readout systems, we demonstrate that the JUNO central detector can achieve a better than 1% energy linearity and a 3% effective energy resolution, required by the neutrino mass ordering determination.

45. The Effectiveness of Intermittent Theta Burst Stimulation for Stroke Patients With Upper Limb Impairments: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Abstract: BackgroundUpper limb impairments are one of the most common health problems of stroke, affecting both motor function and independence in daily life. It has been demonstrated that intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS) increases brain excitability and improves upper limb function. Our study sought to determine the role of iTBS in stroke recovery.ObjectiveThe purpose of this study was to determine the efficacy of iTBS in individuals with upper limb impairments following stroke.MethodsThe databases used included Cumulative Index to PubMed, EMBASE, ESCBOhost, The Cochrane Library, Chinese Biomedical Database, Web of Science, China Biology Medicine (CBM), China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Technology Periodical Database (VIP), and WanFang Database. Studies published before November 2021 were included. Each participant received an iTBS-based intervention aimed at improving activity levels or impairment, which was compared to usual care, a sham intervention, or another intervention. The primary outcome measure was a change in upper limb function assessment. Secondary outcomes included impairment, participation, and quality of life measures.ResultA total of 18 studies (n = 401 participants) that met the inclusion criteria were included in this study. There was a slight change in the upper limb function of the iTBS group compared with the control group, as measured by the Fugl-Meyer Assessment-Upper Extremity (FMA-UE) score (mean difference 2.70, 95% CI −0.02 to 5.42, p = 0.05). Significant improvement in resting motor threshold (RMT) and motor-evoked potential (MEP) was also observed in the meta-analysis of iTBS (MD 3.46, 95% CI 2.63 to 4.28, p < 0.00001); (MD 1.34, 95% CI 1.17 to 1.51, P < 0.00001). In addition, we got similar results when the studies were using the Modified Barthel Index (MBI) assessment (mean difference of 7.34, 95% CI 0.47 to 14.21, p = 0.04).ConclusionOur study established the efficacy of iTBS in improving motor cortical plasticity, motor function, and daily functioning in stroke patients. Abstract: BackgroundPsychological dynamics of college students have changed during the COVID-19 outbreak but little research has been done in this area. The purpose of this study is to investigate the dynamic changes in the mental health status of college students since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic 1 year and the influencing factors.MethodsThe research period was from February 2020 to August 2021. 384 college students were analyzed three times during this period on the recognition and psychological state of the pandemic.ResultsDuring the period from February 2020 to August 2021, in general, the positive scores rose from 20.79 to 23.46, while the negative scores dropped from 17.41 to 14.00. The regression analysis results on the influencing factors showed the degree of recognition of the pandemic is all significant in the three phases (p < 0.05).ConclusionWith the effective control of the pandemic, the mental state of the students showed a slight improvement in the environment of sporadic cases. Behavior has a partial mediating effect between the source of fear and psychological changes. Correct behavior guidance can effectively reduce the psychological changes caused by college students’ fear.

Abstract: Abstract The different conditions of use of a component result in a variety of damage levels. Therefore, excluding differences in shape and size, used parts show a high degree of uncertainty regarding failure characteristics, quality conditions, and remaining life, which seriously affects the efficiency of a remanufacturing scheme design. Aiming to address this problem, a remanufacturing scheme design method based on the reconstruction of incomplete information of used parts is proposed. First, the remaining life of the reconstructed model is predicted by finite element analysis, and the demand for the next life cycle is determined. Second, the scanned 3D damage point cloud data are registered with the original point cloud data using the integral iterative method to construct a missing point cloud model to achieve the restoration of geometric information. Then, according to reverse engineering and laser cladding remanufacturing, the tool remanufacturing process path can be generated by the tool contact point path section line method. Finally, the proposed method is adopted for turbine blades to evaluate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed scheme. This study proposes a remanufacturing scheme design method based on the incomplete reconstruction of used part information to solve the uncertain and highly personalized problems in remanufacturing.

Abstract: Epidermal electronics offer an important platform for various on-skin applications including electrophysiological signals monitoring and human–machine interactions (HMI), due to their unique advantages of intrinsic softness and conformal interfaces with skin. The widely used nondegradable synthetic materials may produce massive electronic waste to the ecosystem and bring safety issues to human skin. However, biomaterials extracted from nature are promising to act as a substitute material for the construction of epidermal electronics, owing to their diverse characteristics of biocompatibility, biodegradability, sustainability, low cost and natural abundance. Therefore, the development of natural biomaterials holds great prospects for advancement of high-performance sustainable epidermal electronics. Here, we review the recent development on different types of biomaterials including proteins and polysaccharides for multifunctional epidermal electronics. Subsequently, the applications of biomaterials-based epidermal electronics in electrophysiological monitoring and HMI are discussed, respectively. Finally, the development situation and future prospects of biomaterials-based epidermal electronics are summarized. We expect that this review can provide some inspirations for the development of future, sustainable, biomaterials-based epidermal electronics.

49. PTA-Welded Coatings with Saturation Magnetization above 1.3 T Using FeCrBSi Powders with Chemical Composition Similar to AISI 430 Ferrite Stainless Steel

Abstract: Fe-Cr-based soft magnetic alloy (SMA) monolayer coatings with high saturation magnetization (Ms) above 1.3 T were deposited onto AISI 1010 substrate by co-axial powder feeding plasma transferred arc (PTA) welding, using FeCrBSi self-fluxing powders Fe313, which have a similar chemical composition to AISI 430 ferritic stainless steel (FSS). The effect of welding parameters on the phase assemblage, microstructure, hardness and magnetic performance of the coatings was investigated. The results show that the coating’s maximum width and the welding surplus height increased with the rise in welding heat input and powder distribution density, respectively. The coating’s Ms increased sharply, but its coercivity (Hc) decreased with the growth in the substrate dilution ratio. The coating’s Hc increased whereas its Ms decreased with the increment in welding heat input. The as-welded coating C3 with optimum magnetic performance had a dendrites–eutectics composite structure, where the columnar or equiaxed sorbitic pearlite dendritic cores surrounded by network-like eutectics α(Fe,Cr) + (Fe1−xCrx)2B were the main contents. Moreover, (Fe,Cr)7C3 and CrB had also been detected, and they were mainly distributed in the interdendritic regions. The body-centered cubic (b.c.c.) α(Fe,Cr) multi-element solid solution contributes to a high Ms of 1.61 T, and the borides (Fe1−xCrx)2B and CrB as well as (Fe,Cr)7C3 and other carbides cause a high Hc of 58.6 Oe and hardness HV0.3 of 4.90 ± 0.06 GPa, much higher than that of AISI 430 FSS (HV < 1.8 GPa). The current work verifies the feasibility of fabricating Ni- and Co-free FeCrBSi SMA coatings with high Ms and high hardness via PTA welding, and since the feedstock powders have chemical composition similar to AISI 430 FSS, the work may bring about novel applications for AISI 430 FSS in particular cases where the considerable wear-resistant performance as well as superior soft magnetic and anti-corrosive properties are required.

Based on a series of systematic consolidation tests conducted on reconstituted soft clay in different cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the overconsolidation behavior of soft clay under different depths was studied. According to these tests, the shape of the curves of the overconsolidation ratio with depth was similar to that of the compression curves. Moreover, the deeper the silt depth is, the smaller the overconsolidation ratio is. Hence, the overconsolidation state eventually changes to the underconsolidation state. On this basis, the depths of normal consolidation were calculated through the fitting curves of the overconsolidation ratio with depth by CurveExpert1.4, which is strongly dependent on both the average thickness of the overfill and the range of water level. Based on the results, a polynomial relationship between overconsolidation ratio (OCR) and sampling depth (h) is established. This study can serve as a basis for predicting the consolidation settlement of the silt layer more accurately in practical engineering applications.
