The purpose of present study was to evaluate the effects of vitamin D3 supplementation in high-fat diet on growth performance, calcium and phosphorus in tissue, immunity and lipid metabolism, and to explore whether adding vitamin D3 to high-fat diet can alleviate the adverse effects of high-fat diet on swimming crab (Portunus trituberculatus). The three experimental diets were normal fat diet (NFD, 9.35 % fat, 45.53 % protein), high fat diet (HFD, 14.69 % fat, 44.93 % protein) and high fat diet supplemented with 0.47 mg/kg VD3 (HFD+VD), respectively. A total of 108 healthy swimming crabs with an initial body weight of 9.42±0.13 g were selected for an 8-week feeding trial. The results showed that crabs fed with HFD+VD diet exhibited significantly higher percent weight gain (PWG), specific growth rate (SGR), feed efficiency (FE) and molting rate (MR) compared to those fed with HFD diet (P < 0.05). It was observed from hepatopancreas crude lipid content, TG content and hepatopancreas sections that HFD caused hepatopancreatic cell damage and abnormal lipid accumulation (P < 0.05), however, there were no significant differences in hepatopancreas crude fat content, TG content and hepatopancreas section observation between HFD+VD group and NFD group (P > 0.05). Crabs fed HFD diets with or without VD3 significantly down-regulated the expression of genes related to fatty acid transport, such as fabp9 and lpr1 in hepatopancreas (P < 0.05), moreover, the expression of genes related to fatty acid β-oxidation (cpt2 and acox1) were significantly up-regulated and genes related to lipid synthesis (fas and 6pgd) were significantly down-regulated in the hepatopancreas of the crabs fed with HFD+VD diet compared to those fed with HFD diet (P < 0.05). In conclusion, the results of present study indicated that a high-fat diet can cause deformation and rupture of hepatopancreas cells through abnormal lipid accumulation, thereby causing associated inflammation, leading to large calcium and phosphorus deposits in hemolymph and muscle, however, high fat diet supplemented with vitamin VD3 mainly enhanced the β-oxidation of fatty acids, inhibited lipid synthesis, alleviated abnormal lipid accumulation, and thus maintained the balance of lipid metabolism in hepatopancreas cells and promoted growth performance and feed utilization for swimming crab.

Ovarian development is a complex and dynamical process regulated by the coordinated actions of the hepatopancreas and ovary. In mammals, lipids provide necessary energy for oocytes to mature, whereas their regulatory role in crustaceans is not fully understood. This study compares lipid mobilization and deposition in hepatopancreas and ovary of the swimming crab at different stages of ovarian maturation. The results revealed that cholesterol (CHO) and triglyceride (TG) content in hepatopancreas increased with ovary development increased from stage I to Ⅲ, and then decreased at stage V, while those content in ovary significantly increased from stage I to V. Additionally, apolipoprotein (ApoA and ApoB) contents in hepatopancreas and ovary increased significantly during ovary development. Moreover, the highest expression levels of cholesterol transport related genes (srb, ldlr, lrp2 and abcg1) were observed in the hepatopancreas at stage Ⅲ and in the ovary at stage Ⅳ. Furthermore, as ovary development form stage I to Ⅳ, the hepatopancreas up-regulated the expression levels of genes related to lipid anabolism (fas, acc, g6pd, and 6pgd) and fatty acid transport (fabp9 and fatp4). Concurrently, genes related to lipid catabolism (il) and fatty acid β-oxidation (acox2 and acox3) in the hepatopancreas were down-regulated. Differently, with the ovary development increased from stage I to Ⅳ, the ovary up-regulated gene expression levels involved in lipid anabolism (acc, 6pgd, g6pd, dgat1, and gpat3), fatty acid synthesis (elovl and elovl4) and fatty acid β-oxidation (cpt1, cpt2, acox1, and acox3). The mRNA expression levels of lipolysis (tgl) and fatty acid transport (fabp1, fbap9, and fatp4) in ovary were down-regulated. Overall, these findings demonstrate that the hepatopancreas and ovary exhibit different responses to lipid metabolism during ovarian development.

IntroductionThe intricate roles of immune cells and inflammatory factors in cancer, particularly their association with the risk of bladder cancer, are not well understood.MethodsThis study aimed to clarify potential causal relationships between these elements and the development of bladder cancer using genome-wide association study (GWAS) summary statistics for 731 immune cell phenotypes and 91 circulating inflammatory factors (cases=2,053; controls=287,137). The primary analytical approach was Inverse Variance Weighting (IVW), supplemented by MR-Egger regression, weighted median, and weighted mode analyses. Sensitivity analyses included Cochran Q test, MR-Egger intercept test, and Leave-one-out test.ResultsThe findings indicated that monocytes are positively correlated with an increased risk of bladder cancer. On the contrary, double-negative (DN) T cells, HLA DR+CD8br, and CD28 on CD28+CD45RA+CD8br T cells exhibited an inverse correlation, suggesting a possible protective effect. Furthermore, inflammatory factors IL-20, IL-22RA1, and Eotaxin were significantly associated with an increased risk of bladder cancer.DiscussionThese results suggest that certain immune cell phenotypes and inflammatory factors may play a role in the development of bladder cancer and could serve as potential biomarkers for assessing tumor risk. The findings also offer new insights into the pathogenesis of bladder cancer, indicating a need for further investigation.

Simultaneous heterotrophic nitrification and aerobic denitrification (SND) is gaining tremendous attention due to its high efficiency and low cost in water treatment. However, SND on an industrial scale is still immature since effects of coexisting pollutants, for example, heavy metals, on nitrogen removal remains largely unresolved. In this study, a HNAD bacterium (Pseudomonas sp. XF-4) was isolated. It could almost completely remove ammonium and nitrate at pH 5–9 and temperature 20 ℃-35 ℃ within 10 h, and also showed excellently simultaneous nitrification and denitrification efficiency under the coexistence of any two of inorganic nitrogen sources with no intermediate accumulation. XF-4 could rapidly grow again after ammonium vanish when nitrite or nitrate existed. There was no significant effects on nitrification and denitrification when Cd(II) was lower than 10 mg/L, and 95 % of Cd(II) was removed by XF-4. However, electron carrier and electron transport system activity was inhibited, especially at high concentration of Cd(II). Overall, this study reported a novel strain capable of simultaneous nitrification and denitrification coupled with Cd(II) removal efficiently. The results provided new insights into treatment of groundwater or wastewater contaminated by heavy metals and nitrogen.

A composite smart contract can execute smart contracts that may belong to other owners or companies through external calls, bringing more security challenges to blockchain applications. Traditional static verification methods are inadequate for analyzing the dynamic execution of these contracts, resulting in misjudgment and omission issues. Therefore, this paper proposes a model checking approach based on dynamic behavior that verifies the security and business logic of composite smart contracts. Utilizing automata, the method models contracts, users, attackers, and extracts properties, focusing on six types of common security vulnerabilities. A thorough case study and experimental evaluation demonstrate the method’s efficiency in identifying vulnerabilities and ensuring alignment with business requirements. The UPPAAL tool is employed for comprehensive verification, proving its effectiveness in enhancing smart contract security.

In order to compare the effects of visual and auditory instructions on the crew when guiding astronauts to complete the procedural tasks in the space station, in this study, subjects were recruited to complete the programmed task of starting from the node module, locating the scientific cabinet and spectrometer, and finally operating the orbital replaceable unit on the spectrometer. Meanwhile, the task performance, eye movement parameters, and cognitive load induced by 2 kinds of instructions in the task were statistically analyzed. The results showed that there were highly significant differences in terms of task completion time, the NASA-TLX (Task Load Index) total score, and eye movement index between the 2 instructions (P < 0.01). There were also significant differences in error rate and effort (P < 0.05). This study proves that visual instruction interaction is better than auditory instruction. Our work provides important reference for the selection of human–computer interaction mode for procedural tasks on space stations. It also provides the experience and theoretical evidence missing so far and proves the benefits of augmented reality assistance in terms of task performance and human factors.

This study aimed to assess the influence of varying dietary levels of astaxanthin (AST) on the growth, antioxidant capacity and lipid metabolism of juvenile swimming crabs. Six diets were formulated to contain different AST levels, and the analyzed concentration of AST in experimental diets were 0, 24.2, 45.8, 72.4, 94.2 and 195.0 mg kg−1, respectively. Juvenile swimming crabs (initial weight 8.20 ± 0.01 g) were fed these experimental diets for 56 days. The findings indicated that the color of the live crab shells and the cooked crab shells gradually became red with the increase of dietary AST levels. Dietary 24.2 mg kg−1 astaxanthin significantly improved the growth performance of swimming crab. the lowest activities of glutathione (GSH), total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and peroxidase (POD) were found in crabs fed without AST supplementation diet. Crabs fed diet without AST supplementation showed lower lipid content and the activity of fatty acid synthetase (FAS) in hepatopancreas than those fed diets with AST supplementation, however, lipid content in muscle and the activity of carnitine palmitoyl transferase (CPT) in hepatopancreas were not significantly affected by dietary AST levels. And it can be found in oil red O staining that dietary 24.2 and 45.8 mg kg−1 astaxanthin significantly promoted the lipid accumulation of hepatopancreas. Crabs fed diet with 195.0 mg kg−1 AST exhibited lower expression of ampk, foxo, pi3k, akt and nadph in hepatopancreas than those fed the other diets, however, the expression of genes related to antioxidant such as cMn-sod, gsh-px, cat, trx and gst in hepatopancreas significantly down-regulated with the increase of dietary AST levels. In conclusion, dietary 24.2 and 45.8 mg kg−1 astaxanthin significantly promoted the lipid accumulation of hepatopancreas and im-proved the antioxidant and immune capacity of hemolymph.

The construction of large structures is one of the main development trends of the space exploration in the future, such as large space stations, large space solar power stations, and large space telescopes. It is one of important development tendency, which aims to make full use of space robots to assemble space structures autonomously in the aerospace industry. Considering that on-orbit assembly is an effective method to solve the problem of construction of large-scale spatial structures, it is necessary to motivate and facilitate the research of space robotics technologies for on-orbit assembly. Therefore, in this paper, the development status of space robot technology and the relevant space robot on-orbit assembly technology in recent decades are summarized. First, based on the space robot motion planning and assembly sequence planning, the development of space robot planning algorithms is introduced. For space robot assembly task, the space robot assembly method is summarized. From the control point of view, how to solve the vibration suppression and compliant assembly of on-orbit assembly is reviewed, which provides a reference for the autonomous intelligent assembly of space robots for large-scale structures in space. In order to simulate the space assembly scene on the ground, this paper introduces the development of ground verification experiments and provides ideas for the effective verification of space on-orbit assembly technology. In summary, though some of these problems have been satisfactorily solved in the past research, further research is still necessary in the future. Finally, it looks forward to the future research direction of space machine on-orbit assembly.

A 6 weeks pot culture experiment was carried out to investigate the stabilization effects of a modified biochar (BCM) on metals in contaminated soil and the uptake of these metals by wheat seedlings. The results showed that the application of BCM significantly increased the soil fertility, the biomass of wheat seedling roots increased by more than 50%, and soil dehydrogenase (DHA) and catalase (CAT) activities increased by 369.23% and 12.61%, respectively. In addition, with the application of BCM, the diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid extractable (DTPA-extractable) Cd, Pb, Cu and Zn in soil were reduced from 2.34 to 0.38 mg/kg, from 49.27 to 25.65 mg/kg, from 3.55 mg/kg to below the detection limit and from 4.05 to 3.55 mg/kg, respectively. Correspondingly, the uptake of these metals in wheat roots and shoots decreased by 62.43% and 79.83% for Cd, 73.21% and 66.32% for Pb, 57.98% and 68.92% for Cu, and 40.42% and 43.66% for Zn. Furthermore, BCM application decreased the abundance and alpha diversity of soil bacteria and changed the soil bacterial community structure dramatically. Overall, BCM has great potential for the remediation of metal-contaminated soils, but its long-term impact on soil metals and biota need further research.

This paper considers the non-fragile distributed state estimation problem for Markov jump systems over sensor networks based on dissipative theory. Moreover, both state estimator gain variations and parameter uncertainties are assumed to be with mode-dependent for more practical modeling. On the basis of stochastic analysis and Lyapunov–Krasovskii function method, sufficient conditions with desired mode-dependent estimators are established such that the prescribed dissipative performance can be achieved. In the end, the effectiveness and applicability of the developed scheme is confirmed via the illustrative example.

As an eco-friendly and efficient adsorbent for removal of potential toxic metals from aqueous solution, biochar has received widespread attention. In the present study, wheat straw biochar (BC) and corresponding modified biochar (HNC) were used to remove Cu2+, Cd2+ and Pb2+ from an aqueous solution. The influence of the environment factors on metals adsorption and adsorption mechanism were discussed in detail. The results showed that the HNC had porous structures and owned ample functional groups (−OH, −COOH and C−N groups) compared with the BC. In the single system, the adsorption capacities of HNC for Cu2+, Cd2+ and Pb2+ at a pH of 5.5 were 18.36, 22.83 and 49.38 mg/g, which were 76.89%, 164.36% and 22.75% higher than that of the BC, respectively. In addition, the adsorption process of Cu2+ and Cd2+ on BC and HNC fitted to the Langmuir isotherm model and pseudo-second-order kinetics, but the adsorption of Pb2+ on BC and HNC fitted to the Langmuir isotherm model and pseudo-first-order kinetics. Adsorption isotherms indicated that the adsorption of Cu2+, Cd2+ and Pb2+ by BC and HNC was a spontaneous endothermic process. The competitive adsorption of mixed metal ions (Cu2+, Cd2+ and Pb2+) revealed that HNC was more preferential to adsorb Cu2+ compared with Cd2+ and Pb2+. Furthermore, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analyses revealed that the main adsorption mechanisms were surface complexation and precipitation, and the adsorbed Cu2+, Cd2+ and Pb2+ on HNC mainly exist as CuO, Cd(OH)2, Pb3O4 and Pb(OH)2.

Heavy metal contamination in soil has attracted great attention worldwide. In situ stabilization has been considered an effective way to remediate soils contaminated by heavy metals. In the present research, a multiple-modified biochar (BCM) was prepared to stabilize Cd and Cu contamination in two different soils: a farmland soil (JYS) and a vegetable soil (ZZS). The results showed that BCM was a porous-like flake material and that modification increased its specific surface area and surface functional groups. The incubation experiment indicated that BCM decreased diethylenetriaminepentaacetic (DTPA)-extractable Cd and Cu by 92.02% and 100.00% for JYS and 90.27% and 100.00% for ZZS, respectively. The toxicity characteristic leaching procedure (TCLP)-extractable Cd and Cu decreased 66.46% and 100.00% for JYS and 46.33% and 100.00% for ZZS, respectively. BCM also reduced the mobility of Cd and Cu in soil and transformed them to more stable fractions. Few studies exist regarding the mechanism prior to response by which cognitive impairment may induce error in a single long-lasting task. The present study intends to clarify the changes in cognition at the electrophysiological level. Changes in amplitude and latency of N1, P2, N2, and P3 components of event-related potentials (ERPs) were analyzed for error and correct trials during normal and fatigue. Twenty-nine participants had to perform a 2-back working memory (WM) task for 100 min. The first 10 min and the last 10 min of the task were used as the normal state and fatigue state of the participant, respectively. EEG data were obtained from the first 10-min period and the final 10-min period. The results revealed smaller P3 and P2 amplitudes and longer P2 and N2 latency in the final 10-min which was after a long-lasting time task. Moreover, smaller P3 and P2 amplitudes but larger N2 amplitudes were observed in error trials for both states. Our results indicated that: (1) long lasting involvement in a cognitive task had a detrimental effect on attention, memory updating and cognitive control; and (2) impaired attention, impairments in memory updating and cognitive control were related to task errors. Our results imply that several impaired cognitive processes were consistently associated with the error and the altered ERP represents the neural patterns prior to error response in mental fatigue state.

Abstract The successful synthesis of carbon nitride films plays a crucial role in photoelectrochemical (PEC) water oxidation reactions. However, a significant technical challenge is that the contact between the g-C3N4 layer and the fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) substrate is suboptimal, as well as the recombination of photogenerated electrons and holes is grievous, directly affecting the effective charge transport and the overall photocatalytic efficiency. Herein, we fabricated a g-C3N4 thin photoanode through simple chemical vapor deposition, NiO cocatalyst was modified on the surface of g-C3N4 thin photoanode via electro-deposition and followed by calcination, aiming at improving the transfer of photogenerated charge carriers. As expected, the recombination of photogenerated electrons and holes is effectively suppressed the g-C3N4 thin photoanode after introducing NiO cocatalyst. Moreover, the superior electrical conductivity of NiO reduces charge transport resistance and allows photogenerated holes to be rapid injected into the electrolyte to participate in the water oxidation reaction. As such, the NiO-60s (the deposition time of NiO is 60 s) photoanode exhibits a higher photocurrent density and much negative onset potential than g-C3N4. which is of great benefit to designing effective g-C3N4 based photoanode for PEC water oxidation reaction.

Abstract In trenchless pipe jacking engineering practice, the formation of high-quality slurry jacket on the outer wall of pipe section is the key to effectively reducing the pipe-soil frictional resistance, improving the construction efficiency, reducing the construction risk and ensuring the construction safety. Herein, the multifunctional experimental apparatus for the pipe-soil frictional resistance testing is improved to ensure the smooth implementation of the subsequent experimental research. The influences of the structural parameters of grouting holes in circular and rectangular pipe sections on the pipe-soil frictional resistance and the states of slurry jackets around the various pipe sections are investigated respectively based on orthogonal experiment. Key findings include the pipe-soil frictional resistances increase with the increase of the spacing between adjacent grouting holes and the deflection angle of grouting holes, the layout of grouting holes has the greatest influence on pipe-soil frictional resistance, reasonable and uniform layout of grouting holes around the pipe sections can form more complete high-quality slurry jackets, to show better pipe-soil frictional resistance reduction effect. Moreover, the optimal structural parameters of grouting holes in circular and rectangular pipe sections are the same, i.e. the layout is triple grouting holes, the spacing between adjacent grouting holes S is 417 mm, and the deflection angle of grouting holes α is 40°. These insights could provide some scientific and valuable guidance for pipe-soil frictional resistance reduction during trenchless pipe jacking.

Abstract Neuronal necroptosis appears to be suppressed by the deubiquitinating enzyme A20 and is capable to regulate the polarization of microglia/macrophages after cerebral ischemia. We have demonstrated that hypoxic preconditioning (HPC) can alleviate receptor interacting protein 3 (RIP3)-induced necroptosis in CA1 after transient global cerebral ischemia (tGCI). However, it is still unclear whether HPC serves to regulate the phenotypic polarization of microglia/macrophages after cerebral ischemia by mitigating neuronal necroptosis. We hence aim to elucidate the underlying mechanism(s) by which the ubiquitination of RIP3-dependent necroptosis regulated by A20 affects microglia/macrophages phenotype after cerebral ischemic tolerance. We found that microglia/macrophages in CA1 of rats underwent M1 and M2 phenotypic polarization in response to tGCI. Notably, the treatment with HPC, as well as inhibitors of necroptosis, including Nec-1 and mixed lineage kinase domain-like (MLKL) siRNA, attenuated neuroinflammation associated with M1 polarization of microglia/macrophages induced by tGCI. Mechanistically, HPC was revealed to upregulate A20 and in turn enhance the interaction between A20 and RIP3, thereby reducing K63-linked polyubiquitination of RIP3 in CA1 after tGCI. Consequently, RIP3-dependent necroptosis and the M1 polarization of microglia/macrophages were blocked either by HPC or via overexpression of A20 in neurons, which ultimately mitigated cerebral injury in CA1 after tGCI. These data support that A20 serves as a crucial mediator of microglia/macrophages polarization by suppressing neuronal necroptosis in a RIP3 ubiquitination-dependent manner after tGCI. Also, a novel mechanism by which HPC functions in cerebral ischemic tolerance is elucidated.

Alzheimer’s Disease is the most prevalent neurodegenerative disease, and is a leading cause of disability among the elderly. Eye movement behaviour demonstrates potential as a non-invasive biomarker for Alzheimer’s Disease, with changes detectable at an early stage after initial onset. This paper introduces a new publicly available dataset: EM-COGLOAD (available at https://osf.io/zjtdq/, DOI: 10.17605/OSF.IO/ZJTDQ). A dual-task paradigm was used to create effects of declined cognitive performance in 75 healthy adults as they carried out visual tracking tasks. Their eye movement was recorded, and time series classification of the extracted eye movement traces was explored using a range of deep learning techniques. The results of this showed that convolutional neural networks were able to achieve an accuracy of 87.5% when distinguishing between eye movement under low and high cognitive load, and 76% when distinguishing between the oldest and youngest age groups.

Graphene is an ideal material for improving the self-lubricating properties of coatings, but the high-energy laser beam can damage graphene during the laser cladding process. Therefore, in this paper, amorphous silicon dioxide (SiO2) is used to surface coat graphene particles to obtain silica-coated graphene with core-shell structure (G@SiO2). By adding niobium carbide (NbC) as the ceramic reinforcing phase and G@SiO2 nanoparticles as the solid lubricant in Ni60, a self-lubricating composite coating was prepared on the surface of 45 steel matrix by laser cladding technology. It is shown that G@SiO2 can promote the grain refinement of NbC in the coating. On the other hand, the addition of G@SiO2 promotes the generation of hard phase of chromium carbide, which together with NbC improves the hardness of the material. The maximum microhardness of the composite coating was 946 HV, which was 302.7% higher than that of the 45 steel base material. The lowest coefficient of friction value of the coated material was 0.25, and the lowest wear amount was 2.45 × 106 μm3. Compared with the composite coating without added G@SiO2, the coefficient of friction of the coated material with the addition of G@SiO2 was reduced by 50% and wear amount was reduced by 62%.

Abstract Background Delirium is one of the most common neurological complications after cardiac surgery. The purpose of our study was to assess the relationship between perioperative blood pressure variability (BPV) and postoperative delirium (POD) in the patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Methods Adult patients received cardiac surgery and stayed in Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for more than 24 h after surgery during the study period between June 2019 and December 2022 were included in this study. Baseline characteristics, perioperative hemodynamic variables and postoperative laboratory results of the cardiac patients were collected and analyzed. Perioperative BPV was quantified by calculating the standard deviation (SD) and average real variability (ARV) of blood pressure. Assessment of delirium was based on the mental status of the patients and CAM-positive. The relationship between perioperative BPV and POD was analyzed by LASSO and logistic regression using R (R package, 4.3.2). Results The incidence of POD was 15.0% (324/2164) in the patients receiving cardiac surgery, and the average day for POD occurred at day 3 after surgery. Microvascular changes are considered key factors in the process of intervertebral disk degeneration (IDD). Microvascular invasion and growth into the nucleus pulposus (NP) and cartilaginous endplates are unfavorable factors that trigger IDD. In contrast, the rich distribution of microvessels in the bony endplates and outer layers of the annulus fibrosus is an important safeguard for the nutrient supply and metabolism of the intervertebral disk (IVD). In particular, the adequate supply of microvessels in the bony endplates is the main source of the nutritional supply for the entire IVD. Microvessels can affect the progression of IDD through a variety of pathways. Many studies have explored the effects of microvessel alterations in the NP, annulus fibrosus, cartilaginous endplates, and bony endplates on the local microenvironment through inflammation, apoptosis, and senescence. Studies also elucidated the important roles of microvessel alterations in the process of IDD, as well as conducted in‐depth explorations of cytokines and biologics that can inhibit or promote the ingrowth of microvessels. Therefore, the present manuscript reviews the published literature on the effects of microvascular changes on IVD to summarize the roles of microvessels in IVD and elaborate on the mechanisms of action that promote or inhibit de novo microvessel formation in IVD.
