- Abstract
Objective: To analyse the understanding of deaf women regarding contraceptive methods. Method: We conducted a qualitative descriptive study in two referral centres for sexual and reproductive health (SRH) in São Paulo, Brazil, trough years 2020–2022. Twenty-eight deaf women who use Brazilian Sign Language (LIBRAS) were interviewed face-to-face and remotely via videocall using a semi-structured questionnaire containing sociodemographic and clinical data and questions about understanding and knowledge of contraceptive methods. We performed a content analysis through transcription, interpretation, and validation of the LIBRAS translation with the assistance of NVivo software. Results: Communication barrier (28/28) was the primary factor associated with low knowledge about contraceptive methods. Regarding barrier methods, 20 (71%) participants reported be familiar with condoms, 13 (46%) with diaphragms, 20 (71%) about oral contraceptives, and 17 (60%) about injectable methods. Concerning long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs), 16 (57%) were aware about intrauterine devices and 7 (25%) with subdermal implants. Fifteen (53%) of participants were aware about female and male permanent contraception. Unplanned pregnancy rate was 59% and use of fertility awareness methods was reported by 6 (21%), barrier methods 5 (17%), short-acting methods 6 (21%), LARC 2 (7%) and permanent contraception among 4 (14%). Conclusion: In our sample of deaf women, condoms and oral contraceptives were identified more often and were more in use. All interviewed deaf women cited communication as a barrier to accessing information about contraceptive methods, highlighting the low knowledge and use of LARC. SHORT CONDENSATION: Communication barrier was the main factor pointed out by the deaf participant women, associated with low awareness and a low usage rate of more effective contraceptives. Our data is important for the development of health policies aimed at creating new reproductive counselling techniques for deaf women. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: It is important to care for the sexual function of women during menopause as it can affect their quality of life. However, the services related to this area have been neglected in the health system and are not provided at the desired level. Therefore, the present study aimed to identify strategies to promote the provision of sexual health services during menopause in Isfahan city, Iran. Methods: Participants of this qualitative study consisted of 19 menopausal women and 15 health service providers with work experience in providing sexual health services to menopausal women, selected using purposive sampling with maximum variation in the city of Isfahan, Iran. Data were collected through in-depth semi-structured individual interviews plus field notes and analyzed using conventional qualitative content analysis. Results: Data analysis led to the extraction of three main categories: 1-providing comprehensive and client-centered care with five sub-categories, namely "screening and active search for recognition of sexual dysfunction", "compliance with cultural considerations in service delivery", "tailoring treatment plans for individual patients", "collaborative decision‐making approach", and "improving specialty care follow-up"; 2- improving infrastructure for better service delivery with three sub-categories, namely "allocation of appropriate physical space", "strengthening teamwork and interdisciplinary cooperation", and "provision of cost-effective services"; and 3- expanding services as well as enhancing access with five sub-categories, namely "integration of sexual health services in primary health care", "using telemedicine to provide services", "expansion of intersectoral relations", "introducing sexual health services", and "conducting research on sexual health services". Conclusions: The results emphasize the importance of providing comprehensive and client-centered services and care, improving service delivery infrastructure, expanding services, and promoting access to sexual health to enhance the sexual function of postmenopausal women. Through these strategies, healthcare systems can significantly contribute to improving postmenopausal women's sexual functioning and ultimately their quality of life. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Introduction: Historically, women's roles in society were primarily as caretakers and healers. As women's roles in healing became more complex and lucrative, they faced social opposition to taking on instrumental healing tasks. Currently, women make up about 50% of the medical workforce; however, they still face discrimination in healthcare due to their gender, both from patients and professional colleagues. Aim: To evaluate patients' perspectives on the preference for the gender of surgeons and anaesthesiologists for elective surgeries, as well as their awareness of anaesthesia and their attitudes toward anaesthesiologists. Materials and Methods: An institution-based, cross-sectional study was conducted in the operating theatre complex of a postgraduate institute in a rural area of Northern India. After obtaining approval from the Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) and patient consent, the study was conducted on 400 patients aged 18 to 85 years who were admitted for elective surgeries in different specialties. A structured questionnaire was prepared and divided into three sections: patients' demographic profile, surgical history and preference for the gender of surgeons and patients' awareness and knowledge about anesthesia and the role of anaesthesiologists. The questionnaire was administered to patients who attended the preanaesthesia clinic for preanaesthesia assessment. Patients were asked questions from the proforma in their vernacular language and appropriate answers were marked on the questionnaire sheet. All collected data was recorded in a Microsoft Excel sheet and analysed using Microsoft Excel software. Results: Data was collected and analysed from a total of 400 patients, of whom 207 (51.7%) were males and 193 (48.3%) were females. A total of 174 (43.5%) patients preferred a male surgeon, 99 (24.8%) preferred a female surgeon and 127 (31.7%) had no preference. A total of 197 (49.3%) patients who preferred a same-gender surgeon stated that they felt more comfortable with a doctor of the same gender. Interestingly, although a significant number of patients acknowledged the importance of anesthesia 392 (98%), they had poor awareness regarding anaesthesiologists as specialist medical professionals. Conclusion: The findings of the current study conclude that gender bias exists in the medical profession, as female surgeons are not acknowledged in the same way as their male professional colleagues. Additionally, the level of knowledge about anesthesia and anaesthesiologists among surgical patients is quite low, despite their recognition of the importance of anesthesia during surgery. We are proposing a story of Antoine Galland's work of the Thousand and One Nights which is entitled "Noureddine and the beautiful Persian". This tale reveals a first ambivalent image of the Arab-Oriental period of the 8th century where society experienced an unequaled cultural and political predominance. The image of women is considered as a second theme in this story since it traces the journey of the fighting woman who aims to free herself from a dominant male spirit. The tale is woven from a narration that is full of symbolism and metaphor which has favored the attraction of the reader. The story provides in third degree and as a final stage, a satisfying conclusion of love and glory where feminine intelligence and loyalty of the sovereign are combined. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This review examines three recent contributions to the Song of Songs scholarship by Nina S. Heereman, Vita Daphne Arbel, and Elaine T. James & Simeon B. Chavel, each offering fresh perspectives on this celebrated biblical poem. Heereman proposes a symbolic interpretation that integrates anthropological and theological dimensions. Focusing on the "most beautiful woman," Arbel applies gender studies to explore the poem's complex and fluid depictions of femininity. James and Chavel, inspired by the MeToo movement, connect the Song to contemporary debates on gender, power, and violence, with several chapters offering a reparative reading. Together, these works highlight the Song's unique ability to inspire dialogue across multiple fields, demonstrating how both the text itself and the conceptual frameworks of its readers contribute to its rich interpretive possibilities. Laryngeal cancer is one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide, with a significantly higher prevalence among men than women. However, the incidence, clinical characteristics, and specific treatment of laryngeal cancer in women have often been overlooked by research. This review aims to examine gender differences in incidence, risk factors, hormonal mechanisms, survival, and therapeutic approaches for laryngeal cancer in women. Although smoking and alcohol remain the main risk factors, evidence suggests that women may be more vulnerable to the harmful effects of these behaviors, with a relative higher risk than men. In addition, hormonal factors such as estrogen may influence women's susceptibility to laryngeal cancer, accelerating tumor growth and complicating treatment. Differences in treatment between the sexes, with women tending to receive less intensive treatment than men, is another crucial aspect that needs more attention. This article also analyses the disparities in survival, highlighting that women often have a better prognosis, although this trend varies according to demographic characteristics and the health system. The increasing incidence of laryngeal cancer in women requires increased research to fully understand risk factors and underlying biological mechanisms in order to develop more personalized treatments and optimize clinical outcomes for patients. Case: We present a 79-year-old woman with a complex elbow fracture including a comminuted proximal ulna fracture, coronoid process fracture, and comminuted radial head fracture treated with primary total elbow arthroplasty (TEA). The patient completed an early therapy protocol and had complete healing. At 15 months postoperatively, she had full pronosupination and elbow arc of motion from 10 to 135° with no reported pain. Conclusion: Primary treatment of unstable, complex fractures of the proximal ulna and radius with TEA has not been previously reported in the literature. This case reports suggests that indications for primary TEA for traumatic elbow injuries in the elderly could be expanded. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Aim: The research was conducted to establish the relationship between the comfort levels of mothers in the postpartum period and mother-infant bonding. Material and Method: The research is of descriptive type. The sample of the study consisted of 257 women who had just given birth in the Gynecology and Obstetrics service of a public hospital in Türkiye and voluntarily participated in the research between February and April 2023. Personal information questionnaire, postpartum comfort scale, and mother to infant bonding scale were used to collect the data of the study. Results: The average total score women received from the postpartum comfort scale in the postpartum period was 97.45±15.22. A statistically significant difference was found between the postpartum comfort scale total score average according to the women's working status, number of postpartum days, postpartum care requirement and number of patients in the room (p<.05). Additionally, there was a difference between the mean physical comfort scores of women according to their income level (p<.05). The mean total score of the mother to infant bonding scale was 14.30±2.92. No significant relationship was found between women's postpartum comfort and mother-to-infant bonding levels. Conclusion: The research findings indicated that women in the postpartum phase exhibited a moderate degree of comfort and maternalinfant bonding, with no statistically significant correlation between the two variables. To enhance postpartum comfort and foster stronger maternal-infant bonds, it is advisable for healthcare providers to assess mothers' needs and expectations comprehensively and deliver high-quality care accordingly. BACKGROUND: Percutaneous vertebroplasty is the most widely used method for the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures, and most studies have concluded that percutaneous vertebroplasty increases the probability of adjacent vertebral secondary compression fractures in patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures. However, controversy remains regarding the risk factors associated with adjacent vertebral re-fracture caused after percutaneous vertebroplasty. OBJECTIVE: To summarize the influencing factors of adjacent vertebral compression fractures after percutaneous vertebroplasty in patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures, in order to provide a certain reference for reducing the risk of its occurrence as well as formulating the corresponding treatment plan. METHODS: Using “osteoporosis, fracture, percutaneous vertebroplasty, adjacent vertebral compression fractures, risk factors” as the Chinese search terms, “osteoporosis, osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures, percutaneous vertebroplasty, adjacent vertebral compression fractures, risk factors” as English search terms, computerized searches were conducted on CNKI, Wanfang Medical Network, VIP, PubMed, Springer, ScienceDirect, and Elsevier databases. The search timeframe focuses on January 2018 through September 2023, with the inclusion of a few classic forward literature. The literature was screened by reading the titles and abstracts, and 83 papers were finally included in the review. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) Osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures are one of the most common complications of osteoporosis, placing elderly patients at a significant risk of disability and death. Percutaneous vertebroplasty is a practical and effective treatment for osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures. (2) With the popularity of percutaneous vertebroplasty, its secondary vertebral compression fractures have gradually increased, with adjacent vertebral compression fractures being the most common. (3) Previous studies have only discussed the effects of factors such as bone mineral density, multiple vertebral fractures, body mass index, age, sex, amount of bone cement, cement leakage, and anti-osteoporosis treatment on secondary compression fractures of adjacent vertebrae after percutaneous vertebroplasty, and summarized the number of vertebral fractures, timing of the operation, surgical approach, cement material, diffuse distribution of bone cement, recovery height of the injured vertebrae, and wearing of a support after surgery, which is not yet comprehensive. The analysis of the specific mechanisms of risk factor-induced adjacent vertebral fractures is relatively rare. (4) The results of the article showed that low bone mineral density, advanced age, perimenopausal women, multiple vertebral fractures, excessive recovery of the height of the injured vertebrae, cement leakage, comorbid underlying diseases, and poor lifestyle habits were the risk factors for secondary adjacent vertebral compression fractures after percutaneous vertebroplasty, and that maintaining a normal body mass index, early surgery, bilateral percutaneous vertebroplasty, use of a new type of cement material, an appropriate volume of bone cement injection and uniform cement dispersion, regular anti-osteoporosis treatment, and postoperative brace wearing are protective factors for secondary adjacent vertebral compression fractures after percutaneous vertebroplasty. TURKISH literature , *SOCIOLOGY , *PASIGRAPHY , *PROTAGONISTS (Persons) in literature - Abstract
Tomris Uyar is one of the most important women writers of Turkish literature and one of the most important writers of the 1950 generation of short story writers. With the short stories she wrote, she inspired not only the generation of her time but also the generation after her. In her stories, the author, who especially examines the place of women in society, has produced original works with her choice of theme and meticulous use of language. In his works, it is possible to see the experiences he lived from his childhood to his youth and the traces of the period. The author, who gives a lot of space to the relationship between mother, father and child in her works, which are based on her biography, reveals both her own and society's perception of mother and woman with her stories. The author, who presents important arguments about her past and the sociological structure of the society, makes the fiction and narration strong with the use of symbolic language. The problem of the article is what people go through in the process of subjectivization and how this is reflected in the work. For this purpose, the pain of subjectification of Şükrüye, who is the protagonist in Tomris Uyar's Çiçek Dirilticileri and the norm character in Sarmaşık Gülleri, which are the sequels of each other, has been tried to be analyzed based on the determinations and theses put forward by Freud and Lacan on the way of becoming a subject/individual. NEW Year , *FEMININE identity , *WOMEN'S rights , *ENVIRONMENTAL music , *MUSLIM women , *FEMINISM - Abstract
Feminism is a movement of thought that seeks to expand the role and rights of women in social life and aims to end the gender hierarchy. It is also an indicator of equal opportunities for women and men. In this union, Feminism will continue as a movement that aims to change the situation of women in a positive way. It is known that Feminism, which basically focuses on the equality of men and women, affects the field of music as well as the arts. In this context, according to Feminist music science, which focuses on activities in which women take part, such as composing, interpreting/performing, and composing, music is defined as a declaration or a product of social life. The canto genre, which is at the center of the research, can also be considered as a declaration or a product of feminist music science. Because the canto genre is a genre that identifies with women and therefore reveals the female identity. In the years when this genre emerged, it attracted attention as a complementary element of improvisational theaters and a genre that combined music and dance. The first people to perform the canto were women. In this regard, it is possible to say that women are at the forefront in canto performance. However, when we look at those who perform the canto and those who accompany the canto, we see that they are non-Muslim women. This situation is explained by the fact that it was forbidden for Muslim women to take to the stage in the Ottoman Empire in the 19th century, women remained in the background due to the patriarchal structure of the society, and their artistic lives were restricted. For these reasons, it is stated that women remain in the background in the field of music or their work is limited. In other words, women are despised due to the influence of male hegemony. However, with the Republican period, Muslim canto players, as well as non-Muslims, began to appear on the stage. In this regard, it is possible to state that the canto performed by non-Muslim or Muslim women provides women with the same opportunities for equality and freedom in performing music as men. In addition, there were some changes in the canto genre in the aforementioned period. The first of these changes is the recording of various types of works, including cantos, on records. During this period, there was also an increase in the number of female readers of vinyl records. In addition, male readers are also found in vinyl records. Especially in the 1920s and the following years, canto began to be performed by integrating with genres such as tango, rumba, charliston and revue. The mentioned situation is explained by the fact that the effect of modernization on music began to show itself in songs such as tango, rumba, charleston and revue after canto. In addition, it is observed that most of the works on the records during this period were given the name fantasy and the canton changed its meaning and turned into a general definition. It is information that cantonese was performed in radio and entertainment programs in the 1950s, and began to be seen on casino stages after the 1960s, and in the following years, it was a type of entertainment performed only during Ramadan. Looking back to the 1970s, we can rarely find female artists performing canto. Today, canto appears in Ramadan entertainments such as ortaoyunu, meddah, karagöz, fasıl and puppet. Outside of the month of Ramadan, canto attracts attention as a nostalgic activity on various events, holidays, New Year's Eve or any other day. Although some canto players tried to keep the canto genre alive until recently, this genre has begun to lose its former popularity. Despite all this, no matter what the period, canto is important because it is a musical genre that contributes to the change of women's identity and brings this identity to the forefront in the field of music. In this context, in the study, the canto genre and the female identity identified with the canto on the axis of feminism were tried to be discussed. For this purpose, results of documentary surveys was analyzed and interpreted. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SOCIAL groups , *PROCESS capability , *CITIES & towns , *GROUP process , *FEMININE identity ,SNOWBALL sampling - Abstract
Disasters cause irreversible results in terms of space, economy and society, and they also necessitate the reconstruction of cities. When we consider that cities contain different social groups together, not every social group is affected by the disaster equally. While this situation has deeper effects on some groups, it also assigns different tasks to everyone in the reconstruction process. From another perspective, the devastating effects of disasters leave much deeper traces for some groups in society. Women, who are among the most affected groups in this process where life and rules are suspended, take on the responsibility of every segment due to the different roles and tasks they undertake in society. In this sense, women play a role as the most affected and carrier of the process. This study aims to reveal what kind of roles and positions women undertake in the reconstruction and reestablishment of life after a disaster. In the theoretical discussion of the study and the construction of the research method, it was assumed within the framework of a gender perspective that women, in addition to experiencing different victimizations due to their own identities in disaster conditions, also exhibit a different power and capacity experience in the process of reconstruction of life. After the disaster, women try to exist with different tactics and methods in terms of protecting their private lives, especially on a physical scale, and participating in public life. Within the framework of this assumption, a qualitative analysis was conducted in the earthquake area that caused destruction in 11 provinces of Turkey in 2023. In the research, interviews were conducted with 12 participants from among the civil society organization employees in the area using the snowball sampling method and the content analysis of these interviews was conducted. While the analysis results support the studies conducted in the literature, when we consider the context, it also reveals that the process has produced some unique effects and results within the structuring in Turkey. CULTURAL pluralism , *PUBLIC services , *WOMEN'S organizations , *GENDER role , *TREND setters , *GENDER inequality , *VIOLENCE against women - Abstract
Turkey's geographical and cultural diversity can lead to the emergence of different approaches to gender equality. This diversity causes perceptions and practices of gender equality to vary from region to region, depending on local socio-economic and cultural dynamics. Each province in Turkey has unique socio-economic and cultural factors that influence gender equality. Therefore, it is crucial to consider these regional differences during the design of gender equality policies. The aim of this study is to analyze the current state of gender equality in Turkey's 81 provinces, identify the challenges faced by women, and propose solutions to address these issues. The study employs a descriptive research design and uses qualitative data collection techniques such as focus group discussions and semi-structured interviews. Within the scope of the study, interviews were conducted with various stakeholders, including women's non-governmental organizations, academics, opinion leaders, businesspeople, local administrators, and bar association representatives across the 81 provinces. The collected data were analyzed using content analysis, and common problem areas were identified, with solutions systematically categorized. The results of the study reveal nine primary problem areas that women face: societal pressures stemming from gender roles, difficulties in accessing education, lack of economic independence, rising incidents of violence, insufficient participation in decision-making mechanisms, alcohol and substance abuse, challenges caused by migration, difficulties in accessing public services, and the lack of safe living spaces due to disaster risks. A total of 97 solution proposals were developed to address these issues, providing guidance for local and national policymakers. The significance of this study lies in its contribution to the design of gender equality policies based on local dynamics in Turkey and its provision of concrete solutions to enhance women's participation in social life. Strengthening local actors and participatory mechanisms in the fight for gender equality will increase the effectiveness of policies and foster more inclusive and equitable outcomes. Choosing between the variety of existing intervention approaches in favor of victims of gender violence inhibits focusing on research concerning support for women to get out of violent situations, rebuild their lives, or minimize the consequences of violence. The aim of this paper is to collect information that allows the intervention to be adapted to the specific needs that women perceive they have, so that it has a positive impact on their lives and establishes through a response comparison whether the intervention has been really successful in terms of well-being parameters. The homeostatic theory of subjective well-being and the personal well-being index were used to evaluate the level of satisfaction that the participating women had with their lives at the beginning and end of the intervention, which results in an index of well-being in each person measured through the answer to questions that start from the generality. The main result of the intervention was the acquisition of skills by the women that allowed the valuation of what they have and the importance of not clinging to or idealizing certain things that can have a negative impact on other areas of well-being. Background: Radical cystectomy in women generally includes the removal of the uterus, ovaries, and anterior vaginal wall, but the criteria for reproductive organ sparing are not clear. Methods: A total of 2674 patients with bladder cancer were retrospectively reviewed, having undergone cystectomy at this nationwide multicenter from January 2013 to December 2019. We evaluated the incidence of malignancy in reproductive organs in a cohort of 417 women and analyzed the clinicopathological features of reproductive organ involvement. Recurrence-free survival and overall survival were reported using Kaplan–Meier survival curves. Results: Median follow-up was 36.9 months. Of the 417 patients with urothelial carcinoma of the bladder, 325 underwent hysterectomy, and 92 had a spared uterus and anterior wall of the vagina. Twenty-nine (8.9%) patients exhibited reproductive organ involvement; this consisted of 22 (6.8%) uteri, 16 (4.9%) vaginas, and two (0.6%) ovaries. Incidental primary reproductive malignancies were found in only two (0.6%) patients. Recurrence-free survival and overall survival were significantly shorter in patients with reproductive organ involvement than in those without. Patients with reproductive organ involvement were more likely to have tumors with ≥ cT3 or sub-localization at the posterior/trigone/bladder neck. Conclusions: The risk of reproductive organ involvement cannot be ignored in women undergoing radical cystectomy for urothelial carcinoma of the bladder, therefore, the eligibility criteria for reproductive organ preservation should be considered carefully. ALTERNATIVE mass media , *VIRTUAL reality , *SOCIAL media , *WOMEN in the mass media industry , *QUALITATIVE research - Abstract
In the age we live in, human life is faced with far-reaching transformative effects, especially caused by technological developments and digitalization. In such a world, transformative factors affect the whole of social life and bring a new person and a new society into being. As a result of the development of technology and the formation of new social media tools, individuals; Various areas have been presented where they can share their feelings, thoughts and works, and with these areas, a media environment has emerged where sharing and discussion take place and feedback is essential. This media environment has changed the perception of privacy by being included in our private life. The fact that individuals share their own information on social media has changed the perception of privacy and increased the violation of privacy: The boundaries of private areas that are considered private are violated through social media and made visible in the virtual environment. Privacy is also an important conceptual framework that needs to be re-evaluated in this process. Individual and societal perceptions of privacy vary depending on time and society. Changes and developments in socio-cultural, economic and technological fields also lead to changes in perceptions and behaviors regarding privacy. Social media, which is considered as an alternative media other than traditional media such as newspapers, radio, television, etc., which are considered as one-way media, almost radically changes the perception of privacy in today's societies and the behavior of individuals regarding it. In this study, attention was drawn to how social media transforms women's privacy. By giving information about the concepts of privacy and social media, it is explained how social media changes the privacy of women. In the study, with the document analysis examination technique of the qualitative research method; The topics of "social media, privacy, the relationship between privacy and social media, women and privacy, the transformation of women's privacy in social media" were explained. Hope is a common phenomenon in human life. The process of infertile women being treated with assisted reproductive technology is difficult. The concept of hope can be applied in the nursing practice to help patients have a positive treatment experience, reduce feelings of despair, and find significance in difficult treatments. This study used phenomenological approach to understand the essential structure of the hope experiences of infertile women after successful artificial reproduction. A total of 10 infertile women who were successfully pregnant for more than 8 weeks and less than 24 weeks participated in this study. The essence of the hope experiences of infertile women after successful artificial reproduction was the process of "becoming a mother" which included four themes: (1) try hard to get pregnant; (2) outline a blueprint for the future of motherhood; (3) protect the fetus; and (4) integrate the fetus into the family. This study enabled medical teams to play the role of caregivers, intervened in hope care, and strengthened evidence‐based practice to improve the quality of care by focusing on feelings of hope. FEMININE identity , *WRITTEN communication , *PATRIARCHY , *SOCIOLINGUISTICS , *SOCIAL pressure - Abstract
Language is a tool used to express people's feelings and thoughts, and while this tool changes and develops in the process, it also transmits various cultural elements from generation to generation. Language provides information about the social-cultural structure of the society, depending on its content or methods of use. Language is also used as a secret means of communication through symbols. Cultural elements such as motifs or symbols express any emotion or thought in a latent form. During periods when the patriarchal thought system was dominant, women in society used language as a secret means of communication. This system of thought has determined the role and social status of women in society. The patriarchal thought system has caused the formation of suppressed emotions, thoughts and behaviors on the female identity. In China, a woman is the person in the house. In some periods in China, women were defined as "housekeepers" and positioned at home. In certain periods in Chinese culture, women have become passive individuals who are placed at home and do not have the independence to express their feelings and thoughts. This situation led to the formation of the Nüshu culture, which is a tool for women to express their feelings and thoughts. The subject of this study is the Nüshu language, which is a secret means of communication and is generally a means of communication of women. The main purpose of the research is to make a social-cultural analysis in a functional context of the Nüshu writing technique developed by women in China based on embroidery and knitting motifs. In this evaluation made on the basis of functional folklore theory, culture is produced in parallel with social need and continues to live in society as long as it meets the need in a functional sense. Looking at Chinese examples, it can be said that the Nüshu written language was invented depending on social and cultural needs, and this written language was passed down from generation to generation as it continued to provide functional benefits, especially for the purpose of escaping social and personal pressures. Nüshu has been an important communication tool that provides information about the feelings and thoughts of women in society and the social status of women in society. Despite all kinds of pressure and obstacles, women who have difficulty expressing their feelings and thoughts in society have created their own cultural environment by rejecting this situation. Language has been used as a secret communication tool among women for years without being noticed by other segments of society. Women who could not meet the expectations of society were called abnormal and faced the danger of being labeled and excluded by society. Such fears have pushed women into a passive position. The passive woman protested this situation and created her own culture to escape social and individual pressures. During this period, ideal behaviors were expected from women living in China within the framework of the rules determined by the society. In the letters written with Nüshu, recommendations were made for the society to behave within the framework of appropriate rules. It is shown that a passive image of women was created at that time by giving advice that a woman's duty is to serve her family and obey the rules. Thanks to Nüshu, women have continued to express their repressed feelings and thoughts, existed in society, strengthened their relationships with their peers, and most importantly, felt the sense of belonging. ISLAM , *MYTH , *RELIGIONS , *SALVATION , *REVELATION - Abstract
Mythical narratives about the creation of women have been shaped with positive or negative motifs according to the way of life of the society, the geography where it is located and the role of women in society. Since it is men who has dominated and ruled in many societies since ancient times, religious discourse and interpretations have naturally been shaped around a masculine language. In the period when Islam emerged, it can be stated that the way of life of societies was male-dominated, as well as aṣabiyyah played decisive role. Nevertheless, both the Quran's perspective on women and the examples of the Prophet Muhammad's life show that the Qur'an aims to change the negative and commodity-like perception of women that had been established until the advent of Islam. In this study, the cultural and religious backgrounds of the narratives about the creation of women in myths will be discussed and their common or differentiating aspects with the interpretations in the Muslim tradition will be evaluated. Many studies have been conducted on women. However, every study is handled within the boundaries of that field. In this study, by using an interdisciplinary comparison method, the changes in the interpretation of the perception of women in myths from the beginning of the formation of the social mind to the present day will be examined. In conclusion in myths, women are either glorified according to the form of social life or, as reflected in the interpretation forms of religions based on revelation, every place and situation they are in is negated, starting from the narratives about their creation. However, the Quran praises individuals who believe and do good deeds and describes them as those who are to attaine salvation in the afterlife. The Prophet also tried to create a unifying awareness in society by setting an example with his own life and by giving advice to believers, without making any distinction between women, men and children. ORAL tradition , *SIXTEENTH century , *OTTOMAN Empire , *WOMEN'S history , *BRIDES , *WEDDINGS - Abstract
Kızana Tekke was founded in the sixteenth century in the village of Sait Baba in Eskicuma. The first sheikh who is thought to have sat on the post of the tekke was a woman dervish named Kızana, from which the tekke took its name. Information about Kızana first appears in Demir Baba Velâyetnamesi. Kızana is the best woman of the bride at the wedding of Demir Baba's father Hacı Dede and mother Zahide Başu, as described in the velayetname. At this wedding, Kızana was made to wear a hilat by El-Hac Dede, Tursun Baba and Kademli Baba. There are many stories about Kizana in the oral tradition. One of them has similar characteristics with Sarıkız in Manisa. The common point of the narratives is that the woman in the character of a saint has come to a respected place among the people over time and started to serve the people. The starting point of these narratives is based on the Alevi-Bektashi tradition. The values overlapping with the position of women in the Alevi-Bektashi tradition brought Kızana to the position of sheikh of the tekke as a female dervish and had the tekke named after her. The fact that the tekke, which still exists today, has guests is important in terms of preserving its prestige and its place in the Alevi-Bektashi tradition. While preparing the study, archival documents were used to reveal its position and service area from past to present. The documents, which are found from five different funds, draw attention to different features of the tekke. After the establishment and function of the Kızana Tekke was revealed, its place in the oral tradition was explained. It is important in terms of showing the position of women in the Alevi-Bektashi tradition and the fact that the sheikh of the tekke established at an early date in the Balkans was a woman. Objectives: The use of digital healthcare technologies to enhance healthcare delivery has seen significant growth. However, a notable a notable research gap exists in the application of clinical scales for menopause management by general practitioners (GPs). This study aims to investigate willingness of GPs to use specific menopausal scale tools in the care of females for menopause management. Method: An anonymous online survey was developed, which received responses from 348 French GPs in 2023. Multiple backward logistic regression was performed to identify the factors influencing the willingness to use a practical menopause management scale. Results: In total, 87.93% of GPs are not familiar with the Greene Climacteric Scale and 90.52% are not familiar with the Menopause Quick 6 scale. In contrast, 90.52% would be interested in having access to such scales. The willingness to use a menopause management scale is associated with caring for menopausal females (odds ratio [OR] = 6.13, 95% confidence interval [CI] [2.08–18.08], p = 0.001), less experience (OR = 7.10, 95% CI [2.05–25.22], p = 0.002), the importance of health prevention in daily practice (comparing 'very important' to 'not', OR = 12.98, 95% CI [1.68–97.60], p = 0.004) and the use of a digital scale in daily practice for menopausal management (OR = 2.13, 95% CI [1.04–5.83], p = 0.014). Conclusion: Future research is essential in representative population to confirm these findings in menopause management. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

KURDISH women ,SOCIAL movements - Abstract
This article reflects on the 'Woman, Life, Freedom' uprising in Iran (2022/23) in light of the politicisation of mourning. It argues that this uprising represented a singular afterlife of Antigone's impediment of burial. In other words, the initial event of the murder of a Kurdish woman (Mahsa/Jina Amini) that sparked this uprising should not be reduced to the tension between one woman and the clerical class over the compulsory dress code, the clash between two value systems or worldviews, nor to the saga of a heroic individual fighting abstract institutions as the liberal narrative would have it. Rather, at stake is the Marxian problem of the exposure of contradictions and cracks in the social reality itself, the unveiling of deep-rooted antagonisms of a power structure grounded on the simultaneous acknowledgment and disavowal of a great portion of the population. The article shows how the very bodies of the dead protesters became the sites of relentless struggle and subversion. The excessive violence of the state in this uprising manifested itself in the denial of proper burial rites and blockage of funerals, a deprivation and violation that came back to haunt the state and challenge its symbolic power. Just like the unburied corpse of Polyneices, the mistreated dead bodies of the demonstrators bring to light what remains unconcealable and uncontainable in the desperate, brute force of the power-structure to prolong its own lifespan and buy legitimacy for its reign. BACKGROUND Evidence has indicated that nocturia is a clinical manifestation of adverse health conditions, including cardiovascular diseases and metabolic disorders. However, previous studies are less available for the clinical implication of nocturia on the development of hypertension. METHODS Study participants were 32,420 working-aged Koreans (21,355 men and 11,065 women) who periodically received health checkups. They were categorized into 4 groups by the frequency of nocturia (never, <1, 1–2, and ≥3/week). We used Cox proportional hazards models to analyze the multivariable-adjusted hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for incident hypertension (multivariable-adjusted HR [95% CI]) in relation to the frequency of nocturia. Subgroup analysis was conducted by gender and sleep quality (good and poor sleep quality). RESULTS In women, nocturia was associated with an increased risk of hypertension, compared with never nocturia (HR [95% CI]; never: reference, <1/week: 1.33 [1.10–1.60], 1–2/week: 1.26 [1.00–1.58], and ≥3/week: 1.34 [1.05–1.72]). This association was not observed in men (HR [95% CI]; never: reference, <1/week: 1.00 [0.93–1.08], 1–2/week: 1.00 [0.88–1.12], and ≥3/week: 1.06 [0.94–1.23]). In subgroup analysis by sleep quality, only women with good sleep quality showed an association between nocturia and the risk of hypertension. However, women with poor sleep quality and men did not show an association between the frequency of nocturia and the risk of hypertension. CONCLUSIONS Nocturia is a potential risk factor for incident hypertension in working-aged women with good sleep quality. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Divorced women often experience emotional dysregulation, increased rumination, and a decline in quality of life. Cognitive-emotional regulation training (CERT) and Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) have been explored as potential interventions to address these challenges. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of CERT and tDCS in reducing difficulties in regulating emotions, decreasing rumination, and improving the quality of life among divorced women. Methods: This was a semi-experimental study involving three groups across three phases: pre-test, post-test, and follow-up. The statistical population includes all divorced women who visited counseling and psychotherapy centers in Ardabil, Iran during the Winter of 2024. A total of 45 participants were purposefully sampled and then randomly assigned to three groups. The research tools include Gratz and Roemer’s Difficulty Regulation Scale (2004), John Weir’s Short-Form Quality of Life Questionnaire (1992), and Nolen-Hoeksma and Morrow’s Rumination Questionnaire (2008), along with interventions such as an 8-session (60 minutes each) emotional regulation training protocol and Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation. Results: In the post-test, the mean±standard deviation for difficulty in emotion regulation, rumination, and quality of life in the CERT group were 48.21±8.44, 27.38±9.19, and 55.34±10.98, respectively. In the tDCS group, the scores were 51.34±10.37, 33.67±11.47, and 52.37±11.81, showing significant differences compared with the control group where the scores were 59.09±12.64, 39.12±9.82, and 48.90±12.24 (P=0.001). The results indicated that both CERT and tDCS have reduced difficulty in emotion regulation and rumination and increased quality of life (P
