Molecular imprinting of theophylline in poly (methacrylic acid- ethylene dimethacrylate) as CEC stationary phases was synthesized by an in situ photo-initiated polymerization reaction. The effect of electrolyte pH on xanthine derivatives and the stability of MIP column performance were investigated. the relative standard deviation (D RS) of migration time of five consecutive runs on MIP column was in the range of 2.2%–3.1%. The reproducibility of migration time column to column of M(A) was in the range of 3.8%–4.9%. The highest column efficiency was more than 140 000 plates per meter. The MIP capillaries had showed better selective for theophylline, which comparing with the reference column. The urine sample was separated by spiked 5×10−4 mol·L−1 theophylline.

The inclusion properties of two calix[4]arene derivatives 5, 11, 17, 23-tetra-tert-butyl-25, 27-bis (isopropyl carbamoyl-methoxy)-26,28-diundecenyloxy calix[4]arene (C[4]A) and 25, 27-dibutoxy-5, 11, 17,23-tetra-tert-butyl-26,28-diundecenyloxy calix[4]arene (C[4]B) were studied by gas chromatographic method. It was found that C[4]A could form inclusion complexes with benzene, toluene, methanol and ethanol while C[4]B could only form inclusion complex with methanol, which might be due to the different conformations of C[4]A and C[4]B. Molecular modeling showed that CH/π and OH/π interactions played important roles in the forming of inclusion complexes.

A new way of cross-linking glass capillary columns with dihydroxy-substituted saturated urushiol crown ether stationary phase is described. The columns were evaluated by determining the column efficiency, phase transition temperature, thermal stability and polarity. It was shown that they have good chromatographic characteristics and unique selectivity in separating phenols, nitro compounds and monsaccharides. The average polarity of these columns was comparable to those of SE-52 and FFAP. The mechanism of separation is discussed.
