Search

Using geospatial and economic analysis, we identify abundant renewable resources in India — 850–3400 GW for onshore wind, 1300–5200 GW for utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV), 160–620 GW for concentrated solar power (CSP, with 6 h-storage). However, these resources are concentrated in the western and southern regions. Deriving capital costs from India's 2017–18 auction prices, we estimate the 5th and 95th percentiles of levelized costs of energy generation ranging from USD 47–52 per MWh for solar PV and USD 42–62 per MWh for wind. Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana are the best states for access to high-voltage substations, but transmission investments in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh are needed to harness significant renewable resources. More than 80% of wind resources lie on agricultural lands where dual land use strategies could encourage wind development and avoid loss of agriculturally productive land. Approximately 90% of CSP resources and 80% of solar PV resources are in areas experiencing high water stress, which can severely restrict deployment unless water requirements are minimized. Finally, we find co-location potential of at least 110 GW of wind and 360 GW of solar PV, which together could meet 35% of electricity demand in 2030.

The self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), self-rating Depression Scale (SDS) and Psychological questionnaire of public health emergencies were distributed to them for evaluation.Results: The score of SAS, SDS in study group was higher than that in control group [(35.57± 10.39) vs (31.31± 7.98); (44.16± 8.46) vs (41.47± 9.47)] (t=4.371, P< 0.001; t=2.849, P=0.005). The fear subscale and total score in the psychological questionnaire of sudden public health events were negatively correlated with age (r=− 0.216, P=0.004; r=− 0.154, P=0.039). Marriage was negatively correlated with depression subscales in psychological questionnaires of SAS, SDS and sudden public health events (r=− 0.184, P=0.013; r=− 0.298, P< 0.001; r=− 0.161, P=0.031; r=− 0.147, P=0.049). Education level was positively correlated with the total score of a psychological questionnaire for sudden public health events (r=0.151, P=0.043); Logistic regression analysis showed that marital status was a protective factor of psychological abnormality.Conclusion: It is necessary to pay attention to the psychological status of primary medical staff, especially the young unmarried medical staff.Keywords: novel coronavirus pneumonia, doctor, nurse, anxiety, depressed

Although electroacupuncture (EA) has been proven to effectively relieve pain associated with arthritis, the underlying mechanism of EA analgesia requires further investigation. Here, the involvement of spinal neurotrophin-3 (NT-3) in EA's analgesic effects on complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA)-induced inflammatory pain was examined. The present study demonstrated that: 1) repeated EA stimulation of ipsilateral GB30 and GB34 acupoints remarkably suppressed CFA-induced hyperalgesia; 2) EA treatment markedly enhanced the upregulation of spinal NT-3 mRNA and protein levels following CFA injection; 3) antisense oligodeoxynucleotides (ODN) specifically against NT-3 intrathecally administered during EA treatment for 7 days significantly attenuated the EA analgesia; and 4) the suppressed expression of spinal GFAP (astrocytic marker), OX-42 (microglial marker) as well as proinflammatory cytokines, interleukin (IL)-1[beta], IL-6 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-[alpha] by EA treatment was significantly attenuated following NT-3 antisense ODN delivery. These results suggested that endogenous NT-3 may be involved in the analgesic effect of EA on inflammatory pain in rats, mediated through the inhibition of spinal glial activity as well as proinflammatory cytokine production. PERSPECTIVE: The present study may initiate a discussion on the possible roles of NT-3/glia/cytokines in the therapeutic effects of acupuncture and provide insight on the mechanism underlie the analgesic effects of acupuncture on pain associated with arthritis. Background: The efficacy and mechanism of Fufang Danshen dripping pills (FFDS) in the secondary prevention of stable coronary heart disease (SCHD) is currently undetermined. This study aims to investigate the efficacy and preliminary mechanism by which FFDS may impact the progression of SCHD., Methods: Based on randomization, we administered oral FFDS to 30 patients with SCHD in addition to conventional treatment for 30 days. After treatment, three-months major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) were assessed as the primary outcome. Additionally, we evaluated the patients' Seattle Angina Questionnaire score, blood pressure, circulating levels of total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglycerides, C-reactive protein, platelets, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, serum creatinine, and fasting blood glucose as the secondary outcomes. Furthermore, we utilized mass spectrometry analysis, network pharmacology, and lipidomics to predict the potential mechanisms of FFDS in the treatment of SCHD., Results: Following treatment, FFDS demonstrated significant improvements in serum triglyceride levels ( P  = 0.013) and a reduction in the frequency of angina episodes ( P  = 0.021). We conducted mass spectrometry analysis on FFDS and identified 236 chemical components. Lipidomics further confirmed triglycerides as key lipids affected by FFDS. By integrating these findings with network pharmacology targets, we highlighted the potential roles of LPL, CD36, FABPpm, L-FABP, LCAT, and CEPT in fat digestion, absorption, and metabolism pathways, suggesting their involvement in FFDS's treatment of SCHD by reducing triglycerides., Conclusion: In individuals with SCHD, the administration of FFDS has been shown to effectively reduce circulating triglyceride levels and decrease the frequency of angina episodes. Since females grow faster in penaeid shrimp, all-female aquaculture was proposed. Environmental conditions in the Pacific white shrimp were not found to affect genetic sex determination (ZZ/ZW system). The androgenic gland-secreting insulin-like androgenic gland hormone is a key controlling factor in crustacean male differentiation. However, functional sex reversal (neo-male) in penaeid shrimp has not yet been achieved by manipulating the insulin-like androgenic gland hormone-sexual switch. Therefore, understanding the molecular mechanisms of gonadal differentiation may help build appropriate tools to generate neo-male for all-female breeding. This study describes the potential role of the novel penaeid-specific testicular zinc finger protein (pTZFP) in the gonads of Pacific white shrimp. First, pTZFP transcripts show a male-bias expression pattern in undifferentiated gonads, which is then exclusively expressed in the testis and absent or slightly expressed in the ovary and other tissues. Besides, the knockdown of pTZFP in undifferentiated males results in smaller testes but no sex reversal. Immunohistochemical staining of proliferating cell nuclear antigen further confirmed that the smaller testes in pTZFP-deficient males are due to the lower proliferating activity of spermatogonia. These data reveal that pTZFP may be involved in testicular development but have fewer effects on gonadal differentiation. Moreover, testicular pTZFP transcription levels were not reduced with estradiol-17β (E2) administration or AG excision. Therefore, our data suggest that pTZFP may regulate testicular development through downstream genes regulating spermatogonia proliferation. Anthropogenically environmental acidification impacts aquatic organisms, including teleosts, the largest group of vertebrates. Despite its significance, how teleosts allocate nutrient and energy among their organs to cope with acidic stress remains unclear. Our integrated analysis of physiological, metabolic, and gene expression data reveals that Japanese medaka (Oryzias latipes) mobilize energy resources among organs in response to acidic conditions. We found that the muscles lost carbohydrates and proteins and the liver accumulates all macronutrients in both sexes. Notably, female-specific energy mobilization between the liver and ovary were triggered by estrogen signaling, resulting in improved oocyte maturation and ovulation. Female produced more offspring under acidic stress. Furthermore, the offspring embryos exhibited smaller diameters and earlier hatching but demonstrated growth rates and acid tolerance. These metabolic changes suggest a trade-off in energy allocation by suppressing basal maintenance (33 % decrease in oxygen consumption) and growth (25 % decrease in muscle mass) but enhancing energy storage (159 % increase in liver mass in males and 127 % in females) and reproduction (165 % increase in ovary mass). This reallocation may improve medaka fitness and population sustainability in acidic environments. Cancer cells have a high demand for sugars and express diverse carbohydrate receptors, offering opportunities to improve delivery with multivalent glycopolymer materials. However, effectively delivering glycopolymers to tumors while inhibiting cancer cell activity, altering cellular metabolism, and reversing tumor-associated macrophage (TAM) polarization to overcome immunosuppression remains a challenging area of research due to the lack of reagents capable of simultaneously achieving these objectives. Here, the glycopolymer-like condensed nanoparticle (∼60 nm) was developed by a one-pot carbonization reaction with a single precursor, promoting multivalent interactions for the galactose-related receptors of the M2 macrophage (TAM) and thereby regulating the STAT3/NF-κB pathways. The subsequently induced M2-to-M1 transition was increased with the condensed level of glycopolymer-like nanoparticles. We found that the activation of the glycopolymer-like condensed galactose (CG) nanoparticles influenced monocarboxylate transporter 4 (MCT-4) function, which caused inhibited lactate efflux (similar to inhibitor effects) from cancer cells. Upon internalization via galactose-related endocytosis, CG NPs induced cellular reactive oxygen species (ROS), leading to dual functionalities of cancer cell death and M2-to-M1 macrophage polarization, thereby reducing the tumor's acidic microenvironment and immunosuppression. Blocking the nanoparticle-MCT-4 interaction with antibodies reduced their toxicity in glioblastoma (GBM) and affected macrophage polarization. In orthotopic GBM and pancreatic cancer models, the nanoparticles remodeled the tumor microenvironment from "cold" to "hot", enhancing the efficacy of anti-PD-L1/anti-PD-1 therapy by promoting macrophage polarization and activating cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) and dendritic cells (DCs). These findings suggest that glycopolymer-like nanoparticles hold promise as a galactose-elicited adjuvant for precise immunotherapy, particularly in targeting hard-to-treat cancers.

Objective: In chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients with previous 96-week treatment with tenofovir amibufenamide (TMF) or tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF), we investigated the safety profile of sequential TMF treatment from 96 to 144 weeks. Methods: Enrolled subjects that previously assigned (2:1) to receive either 25 mg TMF or 300 mg TDF with matching placebo for 96 weeks received extending or switching TMF treatment for 48 weeks. Safety profiles of kidney, bone, metabolism, body weight, and others were evaluated. Results: 666 subjects from the initial TMF group and 336 subjects from TDF group with at least one dose of assigned treatment were included at week 144. The overall safety profile was favorable in each group and generally similar between extended or switched TMF treatments from week 96 to 144. In subjects switching from TDF to TMF, the non-indexed estimated glomerular filtration rate (by non-indexed CKD-EPI formula) and creatinine clearance (by Cockcroft-Gault formula) were both increased, which were (2.31±8.33) ml/min and (4.24±13.94) ml/min, respectively. These changes were also higher than those in subjects with extending TMF treatment [(0.91±8.06) ml/min and (1.30±13.94) ml/min]. Meanwhile, switching to TMF also led to an increase of the bone mineral density (BMD) by 0.75% in hip and 1.41% in spine. On the other side, a slight change in TC/HDL ratio by 0.16 (IQR: 0.00, 0.43) and an increase in body mass index (BMI) by (0.54±0.98) kg/m 2 were oberved with patients switched to TMF, which were significantly higher than that in TMF group. Conclusion: CHB patients receiving 144 weeks of TMF treatment showed favorable safety profile. After switching to TMF, the bone and renal safety was significantly improved in TDF group, though experienceing change in metabolic parameters and weight gain (NCT03903796).

Objective: In chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients with previous 96-week treatment with tenofovir amibufenamide (TMF) or tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF), we investigated the efficacy of sequential TMF treatment from 96 to 144 weeks. Methods: Enrolled subjects who were previously assigned (2:1) to receive either 25 mg TMF or 300 mg TDF with matching placebo for 96 weeks received extended or switched TMF treatment for 48 weeks. Efficacy was evaluated based on virological, serological, biological parameters, and fibrosis staging. Statistical analysis was performed using the McNemar test, t -test, or Log-Rank test according to the data. Results: 593 subjects from the initial TMF group and 287 subjects from the TDF group were included at week 144, with the proportions of HBV DNA<20 IU/ml at week 144 being 86.2% and 83.3%, respectively, and 78.1% and 73.8% in patients with baseline HBV DNA levels ≥8 log10 IU/ml. Resistance to tenofovir was not detected in both groups. For HBeAg loss and seroconversion rates, both groups showed a further increase from week 96 to 144 and the 3-year cumulative rates of HBeAg loss were about 35% in each group. However, HBsAg levels were less affected during 96 to 144 weeks. For patients switched from TDF to TMF, a substantial further increase in the alanine aminotransferase (ALT) normalization rate was observed (11.4%), along with improved FIB-4 scores. Conclusion: After 144 weeks of TMF treatment, CHB patients achieved high rates of virological, serological, and biochemical responses, as well as improved liver fibrosis outcomes. Also, switching to TMF resulted in significant benefits in ALT normalization rates (NCT03903796).

Parameter estimation is important in data-driven fractional chaotic systems. Less work has been reported due to challenges in discretization of fractional calculus operators. In this paper, several numerical schemes are newly derived for delay fractional difference equations of Caputo and Riemann-Liouville types. Then, loss functions are constructed and unknown parameters of the discrete fractional chaotic system are estimated by a neural network method. Parameter estimation results demonstrate high accuracy compared with real values. Robust analysis is provided under different noise levels. Continuous dynamic recrystallization (CDRX) is widely acknowledged to occur during hot forming and plays a significant role in microstructure development in alloys with moderate to high stacking fault energy. In this work, the flow stress and CDRX behaviors of the TC18 alloy subjected to hot deformation across a wide range of processing conditions are studied. It is observed that deformation leads to the formation of new low-angle grain boundaries (LAGBs). Subgrains rotate by absorbing dislocations, resulting in an increase in LAGB misorientation and the transition of some LAGBs into high-angle grain boundaries (HAGBs). The HAGBs migrate within the material, assimilating the (sub)grain boundaries. Subsequently, an internal state variable (ISV)-based CDRX model is developed, incorporating parameters such as the dislocation density, adiabatic temperature rise, subgrain rotation, LAGB area, HAGB area, and LAGB misorientation angle distribution. The values of the correlation coefficient (R), relative average absolute error (RAAE), and root-mean-square error (RMSE) between the anticipated true stress and measured stress are 0.989, 6.69%, and 4.78 MPa, respectively. The predicted outcomes demonstrate good agreement with experimental findings. The evolving trends of the subgrain boundary area under various conditions are quantitatively analyzed by assessing the changes in dynamic recovery (DRV)-eliminated dislocations and misorientation angles. Moreover, the ISV-based model accurately predicts the decreases in grain and crystallite sizes with higher strain rates and lower temperatures. The projected outcomes also indicate a transition from a stable and coarse-grained microstructure to a continuously recrystallized substructure.

Eels are gonochoristic species whose gonadal differentiation initiates at the yellow eel stage and is influenced by environmental factors. We revealed some sex-related genes were sex dimorphically expressed in gonads during gonadal sex differentiation of Japanese eel (Anguilla japonica); however, the expression of sex-related genes in the brain-pituitary during gonadal sex differentiation in eels is still unclear. This study aimed to investigate the sex-related gene expressions in the brain-pituitary and tried to clarify their roles in the brain and gonads during gonadal sex differentiation. Based on our previous histological study, the control eels developed as males, and estradiol-17β (E2) was used for feminization. Our results showed that during testicular differentiation, the brain cyp19a1 transcripts and aromatase proteins were increased significantly; moreover, the cyp19a1, sf-1, foxl2s, and esrs (except gperb) transcripts in the midbrain/pituitary also were increased significantly. Forebrain gnrh1 transcripts increased slightly during gonadal differentiation of both sexes, but the gnrhr1b and gnrhr2 transcripts in the midbrain/pituitary were stable during gonadal differentiation. The expression levels of gths and gh in the midbrain/pituitary were significantly increased during testicular differentiation and were much higher in males than in E2-feminized females. These results implied that endogenous estrogens might play essential roles in the brain/pituitary during testicular differentiation, sf-1, foxl2s, and esrs may have roles in cyp19a1 regulation in the midbrain/pituitary of Japanese eels. Objective: Frailty is a significant public health issue facing aging societies and can be reduced by physical activity (PA), but the dose-response relationship between PA and frailty is not clear. This systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis aimed to assess the effect of PA on frailty in adults by aggregating data from observational studies., Methods: PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Scopus, SAGE Reference Online, SinoMed, CINAHL and CNKI were retrieved for articles published before May 2024. After quality evaluation, data on PA and the risk of frailty were extracted. Stata/MP 17.0 was used for dose-response meta-analysis., Results: A total of 15 articles were included, involving 34,754 participants, including 4250 subjects with frailty or pre-frailty. The consequence of the dose-response meta-analysis revealed that compared with those who were not active at all, a 22 % (95 % CI, 16 %-28 %) reduction in the risk of frailty in individuals with 11.25 MET h/week of cumulative activity and a 55 % (95 % CI, 44 %-63 %) reduction in the risk of frailty in those with 22.5 MET h/week of cumulative activity; for higher activity levels (36.75 MET h/week), the risk of frailty was reduced by 68 % (95 % CI, 58 %-76 %) and continued to be reduced as PA volum increased., Conclusions: There is a non-linear dose-response relationship between PA and frailty risk. Even small amounts of PA could reduce the risk of frailty. In black porgy (Acanthopagrus schlegelii), the brain-pituitary-testis (Gnrh-Gths-Dmrt1) axis plays a vital role in male fate determination and maintenance, and then inhibiting female development in further (puberty). However, the feedback of gonadal hormones on regulating brain signaling remains unclear. In this study, we conducted short-term sex steroid treatment and surgery of gonadectomy to evaluate the feedback regulation between the gonads and the brain. The qPCR results show that male phase had the highest gths transcripts; treatment with estradiol-17β (E2) or 17α-methyltestosterone (MT) resulted in the increased pituitary lhb transcripts. After surgery, apart from gnrh1, there is no difference in brain signaling genes between gonadectomy and sham fish. In the diencephalon/mesencephalon transcriptome, de novo assembly generated 283,528 unigenes; however, only 443 (0.16%) genes showed differentially expressed between sham and gonadectomy fish. In the present study, we found that exogenous sex steroids affect the gths transcription; this feedback control is related to the gonadal stage. Furthermore, gonadectomy may not affect gene expression of brain signaling (Gnrh-Gths axis). Objective: To investigate public awareness about core information regarding chronic diseases and identify factors influencing that awareness among Anhui Province residents, provide a scientific basis for policy-making, and formulate corresponding intervention measures., Methods: From March to April 2021, 12 provincial-level representative counties and districts of Anhui province in the China Adult Chronic Disease and Nutrition Surveillance were selected as survey sites, and 4790 residents were recruited for the survey using stratified multi-stage cluster random sampling. Basic details about the study participants were collected and their awareness of core information about major chronic diseases was measured through an online survey using WeChat., Results: In 2021, the awareness rate of core information about chronic diseases among residents of Anhui Province was 54.93%. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that a higher awareness rate was associated with the following factors: non-housework occupations (agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery: OR = 1.309, commercial services and production and transportation: OR = 1.450, institutions, and professional and technical personnel: OR = 1.461), a high education level (high school/junior high school/technical school OR = 1.357, college and above OR = 2.133), and residence in the southern and northern Anhui areas (southern Anhui OR = 1.282, northern Anhui OR = 1.431); whereas in rural areas (by district and country) (OR = 0.863), the awareness rate was low (all P  < 0.05)., Conclusions: The awareness rate of core information about chronic diseases among residents of Anhui, China, is low. Objective: Adequate sleep is closely related to people's health. However, with increasing age, the quality of sleep worsens. At the same time, among elderly individuals, frailty is also a disturbing factor, which makes elderly individuals more vulnerable to negative factors. To explore the relationship between the two, we conducted this study., Methods: In this paper, independent genetic variations related to insomnia, sleep duration and daytime sleepiness were selected as IVs, and related genetic tools were used to search published genome-wide association studies for a two-sample Mendelian randomization (TSMR) analysis. The inverse-variance weighted (IVW) method was used as the main Mendelian randomization analysis method. Cochran's Q test was used to test heterogeneity, MR‒Egger was used to test horizontal pleiotropy, and the MR-PRESSO test was used to remove outliers., Results: According to our research, insomnia (OR = 1.10, 95% CI 1.03-1.17, P = 2.59e-97), long sleep duration (OR = 0.66, 95% CI 0.37-1.17, P = 0.02), short sleep duration (OR = 1.30, 95% CI 1.22-1.38, P = 2.23e-17) and daytime sleepiness (OR = 1.49, 95% CI 1.25-1.77, P = 0.96e-4) had a bidirectional causal relationship with frailty., Conclusions: Our research showed that there is a causal relationship between sleep disturbances and frailty. This result was obtained by a TSMR analysis, which involves the use of genetic variation as an IV to determine causal relationships between exposure and outcome. Background: The endocannabinoid system plays a crucial role in regulating mood, but the specific involvement of cannabinoid receptor type 2 (CB2R) in depression remains poorly understood. Similarly, the mechanisms by which electroacupuncture (EA) provides therapeutic benefits for depression are not clearly defined. This research aims to explore the function of CB2R in depression and examine if the therapeutic effects of EA are associated with the hippocampal CB2R system., Methods: Mice experiencing social defeat stress (SDS) were used to model depression and anxiety behaviors. We quantified hippocampal CB2R and N-arachidonoylethanolamide (AEA) levels. The efficacy of a CB2R agonist, JWH133, in mitigating SDS-induced behaviors was evaluated. Additionally, EA's impact on CB2R and AEA was assessed, along with the influence of CB2R antagonist AM630 on EA's antidepressant effects., Results: SDS led to depressive and anxiety-like behaviors, with corresponding decreases in hippocampal CB2R and AEA. Treatment with JWH133 ameliorated these behaviors. EA treatment resulted in increased CB2R and AEA levels, while AM630 blocked these antidepressant effects., Limitations: The study mainly focused on the SDS model, which may not entirely reflect other depression models. Besides, further investigation is needed to understand the precise mechanisms by which CB2R and AEA contribute to EA's effects., Conclusions: The study suggests hippocampal downregulation of CB2R and AEA contributes to depression. Upregulation of CB2R and AEA in response to EA suggests their involvement in EA's antidepressant effects. The scale at which low-carbon electricity will need to be deployed to meet economic growth, electrification, and climate goals in Africa is unprecedented, yet the potential land use and freshwater impacts from this massive build-out of energy infrastructure is poorly understood. In this study, we characterize low-impact onshore wind, solar photovoltaics, and hydropower potential in Southern Africa and identify the cost-optimal mix of electricity generation technologies under different sets of socio-environmental land use and freshwater constraints and carbon targets. We find substantial wind and solar potential after applying land use protections, but about 40% of planned or proposed hydropower projects face socio-environmental conflicts. Applying land and freshwater protections results in more wind, solar, and battery capacity and less hydropower capacity compared to scenarios without protections. While a carbon target favors hydropower, the amount of cost-competitively selected hydropower is at most 45% of planned or proposed hydropower capacity in any scenario-and is only 25% under socio-environmental protections. Achieving both carbon targets and socio-environmental protections results in system cost increases of 3-6%. Background: To investigate the prevalence and influencing factors of frailty and pre-frailty in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients and thereby provide a scientific basis for effective avoidance of frailty in patients with CKD., Methods: PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, EBSCO, Cochrane Library, CNKI, VIP, CBMdisc, and Wanfang databases were searched for relevant studies published till December 31, 2021. The summary results were described as odds ratios (ORs) or standardized mean differences (SMDs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). A meta-analysis was performed using StataSE12.0., Results: Fifteen published studies, which enrolled a total of 3294 CKD patients, met the inclusion criteria. The combined prevalence of frailty in CKD patients was 38.1% (95% CI 29.7-46.5%) and pre-frailty was 37.9% (95% CI 32.7-43.1%). The main factors influencing frailty in CKD patients were age (SMD 0.524, 95% CI 0.326-0.723), diastolic blood pressure (SMD - 0.294, 95% CI - 0.518 to - 0.071), body mass index (BMI) (SMD - 0.267, 95% CI - 0.471 to - 0.064), grip strength (SMD - 0.929, 95% CI - 1.233 to - 0.626), hemoglobin level (SMD - 0.346, 95% CI - 0.448 to - 0.243), serum albumin level (SMD - 0.533, 95% CI - 0.655 to - 0.411), Charlson Comorbidity Index (SMD 0.421, 95% CI 0.150-0.692), multiple medications (SMD 0.625, 95% CI 0.354-0.895), Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) score (SMD - 0.563, 95% CI - 0.846 to - 0.280), and female (OR 2.391, 95% CI 1.236-4.627)., Conclusion: Frailty is common in CKD patients. Background and Aims: The older people bears a severe burden of disease due to frailty and depressive symptoms, however, the results of association between the two in the older Chinese people have been conflicting. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the developmental trajectories and interactions of frailty and depressive symptoms in the Chinese middle-aged and older adults., Methods: The study used four waves of data from 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2018 in the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) database, focused on middle-aged and older people ≥ 45 years of age, and analyzed using latent growth models and cross-lagged models., Results: The parallel latent growth model showed that the initial level of depressive symptoms had a significant positive predictive effect on the initial level of frailty. The rate of change in depressive symptoms significantly positively predicted the rate of change in frailty. The initial level of frailty had a significant positive predictive effect on the initial level of depressive symptoms, but a significant negative predictive effect on the rate of change in depressive symptoms. The rate of change in frailty had a significant positive predictive effect on the rate of change in depressive symptoms. The results of the cross-lagged analysis indicated a bidirectional causal association between frailty and depressive symptoms in the total sample population. Results for the total sample population grouped by age and gender were consistent with the total sample., Conclusions: This study recommends advancing the age of concern for frailty and depressive symptoms to middle-aged adults. Objective: Relationship between neuropeptide Y (NPY) serum levels, NPY genetic mutation with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) pathogenesis is yet to be clarified, and role of NPY in development of SLE needs elucidation., Method: This study included 460 SLE patients, 472 non-SLE cases, 500 healthy volunteers. Serum NPY, matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1) and MMP-8 levels were tested by ELISA. Genotyping 7 NPY single nucleotides polymorphisms (SNPs) (rs5573, rs5574, rs16129, rs16138, rs16140, rs16147, rs16478) was obtained by Kompetitive Allele-Specific PCR (KASP) method. Pristane-induced lupus mice were treated with NPY-Y1 receptor antagonist, and histological analysis, serological changes of the mice were evaluated., Results: NPY serum concentrations were significantly increased in SLE patients when compared to that in healthy volunteers, non-SLE cases. Rs5573 G allele, rs16129 T allele, rs16147 G allele frequencies were significantly different between SLE cases and healthy controls. Rs5574 TT + TC genotypes were related to levels of IgG, C3, C4 and erythrocyte sedimentation rate, and rs16138 GG + GC genotypes correlated with SLE cases with anti-double-stranded deoxyribonucleic acid antibody (anti-dsDNA) (+). Serum MMP-1, MMP-8 concentrations were higher in SLE patients, and NPY levels were significantly related to MMP-1, MMP-8 levels. Objectives: To provide an overview and in-depth analysis of temporal trends in prevalence of musculoskeletal (MSK) disorders in women of childbearing age (WCBA) at global, regional and national levels over the last 30 years, with a special focus on their associations with age, period and birth cohort., Methods: Estimates and 95% uncertainty intervals (UIs) for MSK disorders prevalence in WCBA were extracted from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries and Risk Factors Study 2019. An age-period-cohort model was adopted to estimate the overall annual percentage change of prevalence ( net drift , % per year), annual percentage change of prevalence within each age group ( local drift , % per year), fitted longitudinal age-specific rates adjusted for period deviations (age effects) and period/cohort relative risks (period/cohort effects) from 1990 to 2019., Results: In 2019, the global number of MSK disorders prevalence in WCBA was 354.57 million (95% UI: 322.64 to 387.68). Fifty countries had at least one million prevalence, with India, China, the USA, Indonesia and Brazil being the highest accounting for 51.03% of global prevalence. From 1990 to 2019, a global net drift of MSK disorders prevalence in WCBA was -0.06% (95% CI: -0.07% to -0.05%) per year, ranging from -0.09% (95% CI: -0.10% to -0.07%) in low-middle sociodemographic index (SDI) region to 0.10% (95% CI: 0.08% to 0.12%) in high-middle SDI region, with 138 countries presenting increasing trends, 24 presenting decreasing trends and 42 presenting relatively flat trends. As reflected by local drift , higher SDI regions had more age groups showing rising prevalence whereas lower SDI regions had more declining prevalence. Globally, an increasing occurrence of MSK disorders prevalence in WCBA beyond adolescent and towards the adult stage has been prominent. Age effects illustrated similar patterns across different SDI regions, with risk increasing with age. High SDI region showed generally lower period risks over time, whereas others showed more unfavourable period risks. High, high-middle and middle SDI regions presented unfavourable prevalence deteriorations, whereas others presented favourable prevalence improvements in successively birth cohorts., Conclusions: Although a favourable overall temporal trend ( net drift ) of MSK disorders prevalence in WCBA was observed over the last 30 years globally, there were 138 countries showing unfavourable rising trends, coupled with deteriorations in period/cohort risks in many countries, collectively raising concerns about timely realisation of the Targets of Sustainable Development Goal. The hydrothermal crab, Xenograpsus testudinatus (xtcrab) inhabits shallow-water, hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S)-rich hydrothermal vent regions. Until now, the adaptative strategy of xtcrab to this toxic environment was unknown. Herein, we investigated the sulfide tolerance and detoxification mechanisms of xtcrabs collected in their high-sulfide hydrothermal vent habitat. Experimental immersion of xtcrab in various sulfide concentrations in the field or in aquaria assessed its high sulfide tolerance. HPLC measurement of hemolymph sulfur compounds highlighted xtcrab detoxification capacity via catabolism of sulfide into much less toxic thiosulfate. We focused on a key enzyme for H 2 S detoxification, sulfide: quinone oxidoreductase (SQR). Cloning and phylogenetic analysis revealed two SQR paralogs in xtcrab, that we named xtSQR1 and xtSQR2. As shown by qPCR, xtSQR2 and xtSQR1 were expressed in the digestive gland, suggesting the involvement of both paralogs in the detoxification of food-related H 2 S. In contrast, xtSQR1 transcript was highly expressed in the gill, while xtSQR2 was not detectable, suggesting a specific role of SQR1 in gill detoxification of H 2 S of environmental origin. Comparison between xtcrabs in their hydrogen sulfide-rich hydrothermal habitat, and xtcrabs maintained for one month in sulfide-free seawater aquarium, showed higher transcript levels of gill xtSQR1 in sulfide-rich habitat, further supporting the specific role of xtSQR1 paralog in environmental H 2 S detoxification in the gill. Gill SQR protein level as measured by Western blot, and gill SQR enzyme activity were also higher in sulfide-rich habitat. Immunohistochemical staining further showed that SQR expression was co-localized with Na + /K + -ATPase-positive epithelial and pillar cells of the gill filament. This is the first evidence of duplicate SQR genes in crustaceans. Foreign body aspiration is a worldwide health problem that often results in life-threatening complications. Although flexible bronchoscopy is a safe procedure for removal of foreign bodies, it is usually unsuccessful in removing large foreign bodies from the airway. Gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy, which is frequently used to remove foreign bodies from the gastrointestinal tract, has not been reported for retrieval of airway foreign bodies. In this report, we described three successful cases of removal of large airway foreign bodies by GI endoscopy. Background: cumulative evidence from cohort studies suggested that there were inconsistent conclusions as to whether there was a bidirectional association between depression and frailty. Therefore, this study used a bidirectional two-sample Mendelian randomisation (MR) study to investigate the causal relationship between depression and frailty., Methods: we performed univariate and multivariate bidirectional MR analyses to assess the causal association between depression and frailty. Independent genetic variants associated with depression and frailty were selected as instrumental variables. Inverse variance weighted (IVW), MR-Egger, weighted median and weighted mode were mainly used in univariate MR analysis. Multivariate MR (MVMR) analyses used multivariable inverse variance-weighted methods to individually and jointly adjust for three potential confounders, body mass index (BMI), age at menarche (AAM) and waist-to-hip ratio (WHR, adjusted for BMI)., Results: univariate MR analysis showed a positive causal relationship between depression and risk of frailty (IVW, odds ratio (OR) = 1.30, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.23-1.37, P = 6.54E-22). Causal relationship between frailty and risk of depression (IVW, OR = 1.69, 95% CI = 1.33-2.16, P = 2.09E-05). This article considers distributed optimization by a group of agents over an undirected network. The objective is to minimize the sum of a twice differentiable convex function and two possibly nonsmooth convex functions, one of which is composed of a bounded linear operator. A novel distributed primal-dual fixed point algorithm is proposed based on an adapted metric method, which exploits the second-order information of the differentiable convex function. Furthermore, by incorporating a randomized coordinate activation mechanism, we propose a randomized asynchronous iterative distributed algorithm that allows each agent to randomly and independently decide whether to perform an update or remain unchanged at each iteration, and thus alleviates the communication cost. Moreover, the proposed algorithms adopt nonidentical stepsizes to endow each agent with more independence. Numerical simulation results substantiate the feasibility of the proposed algorithms and the correctness of the theoretical results.

N6-methyladenosine (m6A), the most abundant modification in mRNAs, has been defined as a crucial modulator in the progression of acute myelogenous leukemia (AML). Identification of the key regulators of m6A modifications in AML could provide further insights into AML biology and uncover more effective therapeutic strategies for patients with AML. Here, we report overexpression of YTHDF1, an m6A reader protein, in human AML samples at the protein level with enrichment in leukemia stem cells (LSC). Whereas YTHDF1 was dispensable for normal hematopoiesis in mice, depletion of YTHDF1 attenuated self-renewal, proliferation, and leukemic capacity of primary human and mouse AML cells in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, YTHDF1 promoted the translation of cyclin E2 in an m6A-dependent manner. Structure-based virtual screening of FDA-approved drugs identified tegaserod as a potential YTHDF1 inhibitor. Tegaserod blocked the direct binding of YTHDF1 with m6A-modified mRNAs and inhibited YTHDF1-regulated cyclin E2 translation. Moreover, tegaserod reduced the viability of patient-derived AML cells in vitro and prolonged survival in patient-derived xenograft models. Together, our study defines YTHDF1 as an integral regulator of AML progression by regulating the expression of m6A-modified mRNAs, which might serve as a potential therapeutic target for AML., Significance: The m6A reader YTHDF1 is required for progression of acute myelogenous leukemia and can be targeted with the FDA-approved drug tegaserod to suppress leukemia growth., (©2023 American Association for Cancer Research.)

Objective: To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture for functional delayed gastric emptying after gastric cancer surgery on the basis of routine treatment., Methods: A total of 80 patients with functional delayed gastric emptying after gastric cancer surgery were randomly divided into an observation group (40 cases, 3 cases dropped off) and a control group (40 cases, 1 case dropped off). The control group was treated with routine treatment, e.g. continuous gastrointestinal decompression. On the basis of the treatment in the control group, the observation group was treated with acupuncture at Zusanli (ST 36), Shangjuxu (ST 37), Xiajuxu (ST 39), Gongsun (SP 4), Sanyinjiao (SP 6), 30 min each time, once a day, 5 days as a course, 1-3 courses were required. The first exhaust time, remove gastric tube time, liquid food intake time and hospital stay were compared in the two groups, and the clinical effect was evaluated., Results: The first exhaust time, remove gastric tube time, liquid food intake time and hospital stay in the observation group were shorter than the control group ( P <0.001)., Conclusion: On the basis of routine treatment, acupuncture could accelerate the recovery of patients with functional delayed gastric emptying after gastric cancer surgery.

Background: Self-disclosure may enhance positive illness perceptions, whereas patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) always facing negative illness perceptions due to multiple reasons, so elucidation of factors affecting self-disclosure may facilitate the development of quality of life., Methods: A total of 161 hospitalized patients with SLE were recruited. Scales on demographic and clinical characteristics, self-disclosure, psychosocial status (e.g. Social Support Rating Scale - SSRS) and quality of life were used to collect related information from clients. Univariate analysis was performed by Kruskal-Wallis rank-sum test or chi-square test, and multivariate analysis by ordinal logistic regression., Results: Social support, drinking, depression and cause of hospitalization were found to be influencing factors of self-disclosure. Multiple logistic regression analyses revealed that the significant and independent factors associated with self-disclosure in patients with SLE were social support, drinking and depression. Domains of LupusQoL, except physical health and fatigue, were positively correlated with self-disclosure., Conclusions: With the increase of social support, the level of self-disclosure become worse, drinking, depression and cause of hospitalization are risk factors for it. Moreover, the level of self-disclosure is positively related to the LupusQoL. Medical staff should formulate effective measures according to the results to improve self-disclosure in patients with SLE and promote their quality of life.

The scale and pace of energy infrastructure development required to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are unprecedented, yet our understanding of how to minimize its potential impacts on land and ocean use and natural resources is inadequate. Using high-resolution energy and land-use modeling, we developed spatially explicit scenarios for reaching an economy-wide net-zero GHG target in the western United States by 2050. We found that among net-zero policy cases that vary the rate of transportation and building electrification and use of fossil fuels, nuclear generation, and biomass, the "High Electrification" case, which utilizes electricity generation the most efficiently, had the lowest total land and ocean area requirements (84,000 to 105,000 km 2 vs. 88,100 to 158,000 km 2 across all other cases). Different levels of land and ocean use protections were applied to determine their effect on siting, environmental and social impacts, and energy costs. Meeting the net-zero target with stronger land and ocean use protections did not significantly alter the share of different energy generation technologies and only increased system costs by 3%, but decreased additional interstate transmission capacity by 20%. Yet, failure to avoid development in areas with high conservation value is likely to result in substantial habitat loss.

The shallow-water hydrothermal vent system of Kueishan Island has been described as one of the world's most acidic and sulfide-rich marine habitats. The only recorded metazoan species living in the direct vicinity of the vents is Xenograpsus testudinatus, a brachyuran crab endemic to marine sulfide-rich vent systems. Despite the toxicity of hydrogen sulfide, X. testudinatus occupies an ecological niche in a sulfide-rich habitat, with the underlying detoxification mechanism remaining unknown. Using laboratory and field-based experiments, we characterized the gills of X. testudinatus that are the major site of sulfide detoxification. Here sulfide is oxidized to thiosulfate or bound to hypotaurine to generate the less toxic thiotaurine. Biochemical and molecular analyses demonstrated that the accumulation of thiosulfate and hypotaurine is mediated by the sodium-independent sulfate anion transporter (SLC26A11) and taurine transporter (Taut), which are expressed in gill epithelia. Histological and metagenomic analyses of gill tissues demonstrated a distinct bacterial signature dominated by Epsilonproteobacteria . Our results suggest that thiotaurine synthesized in gills is used by sulfide-oxidizing endo-symbiotic bacteria, creating an effective sulfide-buffering system. This work identified physiological mechanisms involving host-microbe interactions that support life of a metazoan in one of the most extreme environments on our planet.

Background: Sclerostin, a regulator of bone metabolism and vascular calcification involved in regulating the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, has been shown to be involved in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, current results regarding the circulating sclerostin level of RA patients are debatable. This study aimed to evaluate the circulating level of sclerostin in RA patients and briefly summarize its role., Method: PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library databases were systematically searched till May 27, 2021, for eligible articles. Useful data from all qualified papers were systematically extracted and analyzed using Stata 12.0 software (Stata Corp LP, College Station, TX, USA)., Results: Overall, 13 qualifying studies including 1030 cases and 561 normal controls were analyzed in this updated meta-analysis. Forest plot of this meta-analysis showed that RA patients had higher circulating sclerostin levels (P < 0.001, standardized mean difference [SMD] = 0.916, 95% CI: 0.235-1.597) compared to normal controls. Subgroup analyses implied that age, region, and assay method were associated with sclerostin level in RA patients., Conclusion: RA patients have higher circulating sclerostin levels, and these was influenced by age, region, and assay method., (© 2021. Polygonatum odoratum (Mill.) Druce, a member of Liliaceae, is one of the traditional Chinese herbal plants mainly used in Jilin, Hubei, Guangxi, Zhejiang, Liaoning, Hunan and Guangdong provinces. Leaf spot disease of P. odoratum was continuously observed in the Planting Demonstration Garden in Changsha (28 °48 N; 113° 34E), Hunan Province of China, in May 2021 and May 2022. The symptoms initially appeared as tiny reddish-brown spots and continued to expand, resulting in round, oval, or irregular tan lesions with necrotic, film-shaped, or perforated central tissues. Leaf spot disease affects approximately 60-70% of plants. For pathogen isolation, symptomatic leaf samples were collected and disinfected with 70% ethanol for 30 s and 3% sodium hypochlorite for 2 min, followed by rinsing with sterile distilled water. Subsequently, small pieces (3 × 3 mm) of diseased tissues were placed on potato dextrose agar (PDA) and incubated in the dark at 25 °C for 24 h to 36 h. The emerging fungal hyphal tips were transferred to PDA and purified by the single-spore method (Yu, et al., 202). In total, 50 disease spots were isolated, and 10 cultures with the same appearance were obtained. Two strains coded as hnxryzy and hnxryzy01 were randomly selected for identification. After 6 days of culture in PDA, dense pink colonies were observed with a mean radial growth rate of 7.5 mm/day. Strains cultured 6 days on synthetic low nutrient medium, microconidia were oval or ovate (7.5-9.67 µm × 2.49-3.57 µm(n = 50)), and macroconidia were sickle-shaped and slightly curved, gradually tapering at both ends, with 2-5 pseudoseptate (10.01-22.14 µm × 2.07-4.22 µm (n = 50)). These morphological characteristics were consistent with the description of Fusarium fujikuroi (Fang, et al., 2021). Furthermore, primers ITS1/ITS4, EF728F/EF986R, Bt2a/Bt2b, RPB1-F5/RPB1-R8 and fRPB2-5F2/fRPB2-7cR (Li, et al., 2013, Xie, et al., 2022) were used to amplify the partial region of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) , the translation elongation factor EF-1α,β-tubulin,polymerase II largest subunit (RPB1) and RNA polymerase II second largest subunit (RPB2) genes from strains hnxryzy and hnxryzy01, respectively. Amplicons were sequenced by Tsingke Biotechnology Co., Ltd. The expected sequences of ITS, EF-1α, β-tubulin, RPB1 and RPB2 of hnxryzy and hnxryzy01 were obtained. The sequence alignment of hnxryzj and hnxryzj01 with the Fusarium ID databased and NCBI shows the following results: The sequences of ITS region, EF-1α, β-tubulin , RPB1 and RPB2 of strain hnxryzy (GenBank accession nos. ON797440, ON820553, ON820554, OP413443, and OP413445, respectively) and strain hnxryzy01 (GenBank accession nos. ON965284, ON968721, ON968722, OP413444, and OP413446, respectively) were 99% to 100% identical to those of F. fujikuroi (GenBank accession numbers CP023090, KC874784, MN490089, MN193916, and MN193888, respectively). Then a phylogenetic tree based on EF-1α, RPB1, and RPB2 sequences was constructed (Torres-Cruz, et al., 2022). The strains hnxryzy and hnxryzy01 were more closely related to F. fujikuroi ( NRRL13566 GenBank accession nos. AF160279, JX171456, and JX171570, respectively), with bootstrap values of 99%. Two sets (5 plants in each set) of potted plants were used in pathogenicity assays. Wounded leaves were sprayed with conidial suspensions (100 µL, 1 × 107 spores/mL) and sterile water as control. Inoculated plants were covered with plastic bags for 24 h, and maintained at 25 ° C in 12/12 h light/dark conditions in the greenhouse (Yu, et al., 2022). Pathogenicity assays were repeated thrice. Dark brown spots identical to those seen in the field were observed 14 days after inoculation, while the control leaves did not exhibit any symptoms. In this study, the pathogen F. fujikuroi was successfully reisolated from the leaves of inoculated samples showing symptoms, thereby verifying Koch's postulate. To our knowledge, this is the first report of F. fujikuroi inducing leaf spot on P. odoratum in China. Since F. fujikuroi is a common pathogenic fungus that infects different plant species(Qiu, et al., 2020), more attention should be paid to its prevalence in P. odoratum and the potential risk of outbreak in other provinces of China.

Background: Previous studies have shown that empathy has a positive impact on the professional identity of nursing students. And developing psychological resilience can improve the professional identity of nursing students. However, studies investigating the mechanism of the relationship between empathy and psychological resilience on professional identity remain few., Purpose: Among Chinese nursing students, we sought to determine whether psychological resilience mediates the association between empathy and professional identity., Methods: A total of 495 undergraduate and postgraduate nursing students in a medical university nursing college in Hefei were investigated by demographic data questionnaire, nursing students' empathy scale, nursing students' professional identity questionnaire, and psychological resilience questionnaire. Structural equation modeling was used to analyze the mediating effect of psychological resilience between empathy and the professional identity of nursing students., Results: The total score of professional identity of nursing students was 57.07 ± 10.38. Psychological resilience (r = 0.316, P < 0.01) and professional identity (r = 0.313, P < 0.01) both had positive correlations with empathy, respectively. Additionally, there was a strong correlation between psychological resilience and professional identity (r = 0.488, P < 0.01). Climate changes, such as extreme temperature shifts, can have a direct and significant impact on animals living in the ocean system. Ectothermic animals may undergo concerted metabolic shifts in response to ambient temperature changes. The physiological and molecular adaptations in cephalopods during their early life stages are largely unknown due to the challenge of rearing them outside of a natural marine environment. To overcome this obstacle, we established a pelagic bigfin reef squid (Sepioteuthis lessoniana) culture facility, which allowed us to monitor the effects of ambient thermal elevation and fluctuation on cephalopod embryos/larvae. By carefully observing embryonic development in the breeding facility, we defined 23 stages of bigfin reef squid embryonic development, beginning at stage 12 (blastocyst; 72 h post-egg laying) and continuing through hatching (~1 month post-egg laying). Since temperature recordings from the bigfin reef squid natural habitats have shown a steady rise over the past decade, we examined energy substrate utilization and cellular/metabolic responses in developing animals under different temperature conditions. As the ambient temperature increased by 7 °C, hatching larvae favored aerobic metabolism by about 2.3-fold. Short-term environmental warming stress inhibited oxygen consumption but did not affect ammonium excretion in stage (St.) 25 larvae. Meanwhile, an aerobic metabolism-related marker (CoxI) and a cellular stress-responsive marker (HSP70) were rapidly up-regulated upon acute warming treatments. In addition, our simulations of temperature oscillations mimicking natural daily rhythms did not result in significant changes in metabolic processes in St. 25 animals. As the ambient temperature increased by 7 °C, referred to as heatwave conditions, CoxI, HSP70, and antioxidant molecule (SOD) were stimulated, indicating the importance of cellular and metabolic adjustments. Brain community detection is an efficient method to represent the communities of brain networks. However, time-variable functions of the brain and the intricate brain community structure impose a great challenge on it. In this paper, a time-sequential graph adversarial learning (TGAL) framework is proposed to detect brain communities and characterize the structure of communities from brain networks. In the framework, a novel time-sequential graph neural network is designed as an encoder to extract efficient graph representations by spatio-temporal attention mechanism. Since it is difficult to capture the community structure, the measurable modularity loss is used to optimize by maximizing the modularity of the community. In addition, the framework employs an adversarial scheme to guide the learning of representation. The effectiveness of our model is shown through experiments on the real-world brain network datasets, and the great performance of brain community detection demonstrates the advantage of the proposed framework.

Background: Although genome-wide association studies (GWASs) have identified more than 100 loci associated with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) susceptibility, the causal genes and biological mechanisms remain largely unknown., Methods: A cross-tissue transcriptome-wide association study (TWAS) using the unified test for molecular signaturestool was performed to integrate GWAS summary statistics from 58 284 individuals (14 361 RA cases and 43 923 controls) with gene-expression matrix in the Genotype-Tissue Expression project. Subsequently, a single tissue by using FUSION software was conducted to validate the significant associations. We also compared the TWAS with different gene-based methodologies, including Summary Data Based Mendelian Randomization (SMR) and Multimarker Analysis of Genomic Annotation (MAGMA). Further in silico analyses (conditional and joint analysis, differential expression analysis and gene-set enrichment analysis) were used to deepen our understanding of genetic architecture and comorbidity aetiology of RA., Results: We identified a total of 47 significant candidate genes for RA in both cross-tissue and single-tissue test after multiple testing correction, of which 40 TWAS-identified genes were verified by SMR or MAGMA. Among them, 13 genes were situated outside of previously reported significant loci by RA GWAS. Objective: To evaluate the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the eight-item Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8) in Chinese patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)., Methods: The survey was conducted with a consecutive sampling of 158 Chinese SLE patients attending public hospitals from January to March 2021. We used the translated Chinese version of the MMAS-8 to collect related data. Reliability, item, and factor analyses were used to test the reliability and validity of the MMAS-8 scale in the selected patients. The internal consistency reliability was evaluated using Cronbach's α coefficient. Test-retest reliability was assessed using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) in a subset of 30 participants. Construct validity was evaluated using confirmatory factor analysis and correlations between the Self-efficacy for Appropriate Medication Use Scale (SEAMS) and related measures., Results: The internal consistency reliability of the Chinese version of the MMAS-8 was high (Cronbach's α = 0.817), and the test-retest reliability was excellent (intraclass correlation = 0.947; P < 0.001). There were significant differences in the F test and t test between the two extreme groups before and after the ranking of 27% of the questionnaire scores (P < 0.001). The Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) value of construct validity was 0.860. The spherical test value of Bartlettgers was 417.8822. Factor analysis yielded three components that accounted for 69.375% of the total variance. Exploratory factor analysis identified three dimensions of the Chinese version of the MMAS-8. In terms of criterion validity, the correlation of the MMAS-8 score in SEAMS indicated that the convergent validity was good (r = 0.926; P < 0.001)., Conclusions: This study shows that the Chinese version of the Medication Adherence Scale-8 is a reliable and valid tool for assessing medication adherence in Chinese SLE patients. This study investigates Caputo-Hadamard fractional differential equations on time scales. The Hadamard fractional sum and difference are defined for the first time. A general logarithm function on time scales is used as a kernel function. New fractional difference equations and their equivalent fractional sum equations are presented by the use of fundamental theorems. Gronwall inequality, asymptotical stability conditions, and two discrete-time Mittag-Leffler functions of Hadamard type are obtained. Numerical schemes are provided and chaos in fractional discrete-time logistic equation and neural network equations are reported.

The evidence on the relationship between social support and quality of life in female systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients is complex. The purpose of this study was to explore the impacts of distress disclosure and anxiety on the association between social support and quality of life among Chinese women with SLE. A cross-sectional study was conducted, and 237 samples were obtained. Measures included demographic characteristics, Lupus Quality of Life (LupusQoL), social support rate scale (SSRS), distress disclosure index (DDI), and self-rating anxiety scale (SAS). Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and moderated mediating effect analysis were carried out. The LupusQoL was negatively correlated with age, systemic lupus erythematosus disease activity index (SLEDAI), DDI, and SAS. SSRS had a positive predictive effect on the LupusQoL, while SLEDAI and DDI had the opposite effect. SAS had a negative predictive effect on the LupusQoL. There were interactive effects of SAS and DDI on LupusQoL. In the moderated mediation model, SAS played moderating effect in the role of DDI on LupusQoL; the DDI of female patients with SLE played a partial mediator role, the mediation effect was 0.19, and the mediation effect ratio was 33.3%. Objective: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) may cause damage to multiple organs and may further restrict the patient's physical, psychological and social functions. This meta-analysis aimed to explore the prevalence of frailty and prefrailty and the influential factors in RA patients., Methods: PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane, Embase, and CNKI were searched to identify related articles. Articles published before July 23rd, 2021 that assessed frailty in patients with RA qualified for the systematic review and meta-analysis. A quality appraisal of the studies was performed using the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and Newcastle-Ottawa Scales. The pooled results were displayed as odds ratios or standardized mean differences (ORs/SMDs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs)., Results: The article search generated 2273 articles, of which 16 satisfied the inclusion criteria and were merged in the final review. A total of 8556 RA patients were finally included. The pooled prevalence of frailty in the patients with RA was 33.5% (95% CI: 25.2-41.7%), and the pooled prevalence of prefrailty was 39.9% (95% CI: 29.4-50.3%). Subgroup analyses showed that frailty was more prevalent in females (24.7%) than in males (19.1%). The prevalence of prefrailty in females was similar to that in males among the RA patients. Frailty in RA was associated with the female sex (OR: 1.47, 95% CI: 1.04-2.07) and disease activity (OR: 1.47, 95% CI: 1.03-2.09)., Conclusion: Frailty is prevalent in RA patients. Depression is one of the most prevalent mental illnesses in the world today, and the onset of depression is usually accompanied by neuroinflammation and impaired adult neurogenesis. As a new potential member of the endocannabinoid (eCB) system, G protein coupled receptor 55 (GPR55) has been associated with mood regulation. However, the role of GPR55 in the pathophysiology of depression remains poorly understood. Thus, a 10-day chronic social defeat stress (CSDS) paradigm was utilized as an animal model of depression to explore the potential role of GPR55 in depression. After CSDS, the protein level of GPR55 decreased significantly, but the mRNA expression did not change significantly, highlighting that although the GPR55 protein was involved in the progression of the depression- and anxiety-like phenotypes, its mRNA was not. Additionally, depression- and anxiety-like behaviors were also accompanied by neuroinflammation and impaired adult neurogenesis in the hippocampus. Interestingly, O-1602, a GPR55 agonist, remarkably prevented the development of depression- and anxiety-like behaviors as well as hippocampal neuroinflammation and neurogenesis deficits induced by CSDS. However, after electroacupuncture (EA) alleviated depression- and anxiety-like behaviors induced by CSDS, treatment with a GPR55 antagonist (CID16020046) reversed this effect. Our research demonstrated that downregulation of GPR55 expression in the hippocampus might mediate CSDS-induced depression- and anxiety-like phenotypes, and activation and upregulation of GPR55, which might be correlated with its anti-inflammatory and subsequent neuroprotective effects, could be a potential treatment for depression., (Copyright © 2022. Currently, the causal association between sleep disorders and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) has been poorly understood. In this two-sample Mendelian randomization (TSMR) study, we tried to explore whether sleep disorders are causally associated with RA. Seven sleep-related traits were chosen from the published Genome-Wide Association Study (GWAS): short sleep duration, frequent insomnia, any insomnia, sleep duration, getting up, morningness (early-to-bed/up habit), and snoring, 27, 53, 57, 57, 70, 274, and 42 individual single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) ( P < 5 × 10 -8 ) were obtained as instrumental variables (IVs) for these sleep-related traits. Outcome variables were obtained from a public GWAS study that included 14,361 cases and 43,923 European Ancestry controls. The causal relationship between sleep disturbances and RA risk were evaluated by a two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis using inverse variance weighted (IVW), MR-Egger regression, weighted median, and weight mode methods. MR-Egger Regression and Mendelian randomization pleiotropy residual sum and outlier (MR-PRESSO) were used to test for horizontal pleomorphism and outliers. There was no evidence of a link between RA and frequent insomnia (IVW, odds ratio (OR): 0.99; 95% interval (CI): 0.84-1.16; P = 0.858), any insomnia (IVW, OR: 1.09; 95% CI: 0.85-1.42; P = 0.489), sleep duration (IVW, OR: 0.65, 95% CI: 0.38-1.10, P = 0.269), getting up (IVW, OR: 0.56, 95% CI: 0.13-2.46, P = 0.442), morningness (IVW, OR: 2.59; 95% CI: 0.73-9.16; P = 0.142), or snoring (IVW, OR: 0.95; 95% CI: 0.68-1.33; P = 0.757). Short sleep duration (6h) had a causal effect on RA, as supported by IVW and weighted median (OR: 1.47, 95% CI: 1.12-1.94, P = 0.006; OR: 1.43, 95%CI:1.01-2.05, P = 0.047). Sensitivity analysis showed that the results were stable. Our findings imply that short sleep duration is causally linked to an increased risk of RA. A correlation between sleep and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) has been observed in a number of prior investigations. However, little is known regarding the potential causative relationship between them. In this study, we selected genetic instruments for sleep traits from pooled data from published genome-wide association studies (GWAS). Independent genetic variants associated with six sleep-related traits (chronotype, sleep duration, short sleep duration, long sleep duration, insomnia, and daytime sleepiness) were selected as instrumental variables. A two-sample Mendelian randomization (TSMR) study was first conducted to assess the causal relationship between sleep traits and SLE (7219 cases versus 15,991 controls). The reverse MR analysis was then used to infer the causal relationship between SLE and sleep traits. Inverse variance weighted (IVW), MR Egger, Weighted median, and Weighted mode were applied to perform the primary MR analysis. MR Egger regression and the Mendelian randomization pleiotropy residual sum and outlier (MR-PRESSO) test were used to detect horizontal pleiotropy, and Cochran's Q was used to detect heterogeneity. In studies of the effect of sleep traits on SLE risk, the IVW method demonstrated no causal relationship between chronotype, sleep duration, short sleep duration, long sleep duration, insomnia, daytime sleepiness and SLE risk. The remaining three methods agreed with the results of IVW. In studies of the effect of SLE on the risk of sleep traits, neither IVW, MR Egger, Weighted median, nor Weighted mode methods provided evidence of a causal relationship between SLE and the risk of sleep traits. Background: This study aimed to investigate the seroreactivity of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination and its adverse events among systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients, rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients, and healthy controls (HCs)., Methods: A total of 60 SLE patients, 70 RA patients and 35 HCs, who received a complete inactivated COVID-19 vaccine (Vero cells) regimen, were recruited in the current study. Serum IgG and IgM antibodies against Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) were determined by using chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay (CMIA)., Results: There were no significant differences regarding the seroprevalences of IgG and IgM antibodies against SARS-CoV-2, and the self-reported vaccination-related adverse events among SLE patients, RA patients and HCs. The inactivated COVID-19 vaccines appeared to be well-tolerated and moderately immunogenic. In addition, case-only analysis indicated that in SLE patients, the disease manifestation of rash and anti-SSA autoantibody were associated with seroprevalence of IgG antibody against SARS-CoV-2, whereas the uses of ciclosporin and leflunomide had influence on the seroprevalence of IgM antibody against SARS-CoV-2. In RA patients, rheumatoid factor (RF) appeared to be associated with the seroprevalence of IgG antibody against SARS-CoV-2., Conclusion: Our study reveals that the seroprevalences of IgG and IgM antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 and vaccination-related adverse effects are similar among SLE, RA and HCs, suggesting that COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective for SLE and RA patients to prevent from the pandemic of COVID-19., (Copyright © 2022 The Authors.
