2. A Collaborative Explanation of Cosmic Ray Spectrum Based on the Gluon Condensation Model

Abstract

Based on the Gluon Condensation (GC) model, the relationship between the spectra of electrons, $\gamma$ rays, and neutrinos in cosmic rays can be deduced. It has been found that these particles share the same parameter, $\beta_p$, and have an identical GC threshold values. This paper explores the connection between the second excess spectra of electron and the spectra of gamma rays and neutrinos. According to the observed gamma-ray data, it is suggested that the source LHAASO J2108+5157 might contribute to the second excess of electron.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) stands as a chronic metabolic ailment predominantly characterized by elevated blood glucose levels, stemming from either a resistance to insulin or aberrations in insulin secretion. The ensuing persistent hyperglycemia, a direct consequence of pancreatic β-cell devastation, acts as a catalyst for a myriad of complications, inclusive of extensive neuropathies. The disease has substantial prevalence and mortality rates, underscoring the gravity of its impact on public health. Dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) are readily obtainable, and they exhibit a profound capacity for self-renewal, multi-lineage differentiation, and vigorous proliferation. Remarkably, DPSCs can differentiate into pancreatic β-cells, subsequently participate in insulin secretion and play a pivotal role in immune modulation. This has achieved notable advancements in the therapeutic domain, particularly in the treatment of chronic diseases. Furthermore, DPSCs harbor the potential to mitigate symptoms in patients afflicted with type 1 diabetes. They navigate this therapeutic pathway through mechanisms that involve suppressing autoimmunity, modulating inflammatory responses, and counteracting oxidative stress. This article meticulously reviews the biological characteristics inherent to DPSCs and explores their multifaceted therapeutic potential in addressing DM and its associated complications. Through this endeavor, the article aims to contribute to the refinement and enhancement of DM management strategies.

22. Shape unrestricted topological corner state based on Kekulé modulation and enhanced nonlinear harmonic generation

Abstract

Topological corner states have been extensively utilized as a nanocavity to increase nonlinear harmonic generation due to their high Q-factor and robustness. However, the previous topological corner states based nanocavities and nonlinear harmonic generation have to comply with particular spatial symmetries of underlying lattices, hindering their practical application. In this work, we design a photonic nanocavity based on shape unrestricted topological corner state by applying Kekulé modulation to a honeycomb photonic crystal. The boundaries of such shape unrestricted topological corner state are liberated from running along specific lattice directions, thus topological corner states with arbitrary shapes and high Q-factor are excited. We demonstrate enhancement of second (SHG) and third harmonic generation (THG) from the topological corner states, which are also not influenced by the geometry shape of corner. The liberation from the shape restriction of corner state and nonlinear harmonic generation are robust to lattice defects. We believe that the shape unrestricted topological corner state may also find a way to improve other nonlinear optical progress, providing great flexibility for the development of photonic integrated devices.

23. Single cocaine exposure attenuates the intrinsic excitability of CRH neurons in the ventral BNST via Sigma-1 receptors

Abstract

The ventral bed nucleus of the stria terminalis (vBNST) plays a key role in cocaine addiction, especially relapse. However, the direct effects of cocaine on corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) neurons in the vBNST remain unclear. Here, we identify that cocaine exposure can remarkably attenuate the intrinsic excitability of CRH neurons in the vBNST in vitro. Accumulating studies reveal the crucial role of Sigma-1 receptors (Sig-1Rs) in modulating cocaine addiction. However, to the authors’ best knowledge no investigations have explored the role of Sig-1Rs in the vBNST, let alone CRH neurons. Given that cocaine acts as a type of Sig-1Rs agonist, and the dramatic role of Sig-1Rs played in intrinsic excitability of neurons as well as cocaine addiction, we employ BD1063 a canonical Sig-1Rs antagonist to block the effects of cocaine, and significantly recover the excitability of CRH neurons. Together, we suggest that cocaine exposure leads to the firing rate depression of CRH neurons in the vBNST via binding to Sig-1Rs.
