Summary The world's major crops are deficient in lysine and several other amino acids essential for human and animal nutrition. Increasing the content of these amino acids in cereals, our major source of dietary energy, can help feed a global population whose reliance upon dietary protein is growing faster than crop yields. Here we document the heritable expression in rice, the world's major cereal crop, of tRNA[sup lys] species that introduce lysine at alternative codons during protein synthesis, resulting in a significant enrichment of the lysine content of proteins in rice seeds without changing the types or quantities of the seed storage proteins. Abstract: In this work, we report on sol–gel synthesis of red-emitting [Na0.6La0.8−x−Eu x ]2(MoO4)3 (x=0.04, 0.06, 0.08, 0.10, and 0.12) and their luminescent properties at room temperature. X-ray diffraction patterns indicate that red-emitting [Na0.6La0.74Eu0.06]2(MoO4)3 powders present two types of tetragonal symmetry structures. The SEM images for the phosphor exhibit irregular morphology and cotton-like shape. The size of the particles is estimated to be about 1μm. It is shown that the maximum emission in the red region lies at 614nm and 622nm and the luminescent properties of the phosphor can be improved obviously by doping ions, especially Al3+ ions and Zn2+ ions. The phosphors exhibit characteristic of a ultraviolet visible-light emission diode. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: Li(FeM)PO4/C (M =Mg, Al, Zn and Mn) cathode material for lithium ion batteries is prepared by using converter sludge as a raw material through a sustainable wet chemistry method. The valuable elements (Fe, Mg, Al, Zn and Mn) are recovered from converter sludge through acidolysis process, and used as source materials of Fe and dopants for preparing Li(FeM)PO4/C. XRD and SEM analyses show that the obtained Li(FeM)PO4/C delivers single olivine-type phase with higher crystallinity, and presents a fine particle size less than 100nm and a homogeneous elemental distribution in its contexture. Especially, Li(FeM)PO4/C prepared from the sludge gives outstanding capacity of 157, 154, 143, 127 and 118mAhg−1 at a current density of 15, 75, 150, 300 and 750mAg−1, respectively, and exhibits excellent cycling performance. The results demonstrate that a novel route to synthesize Li(FeM)PO4/C cathode material for lithium ion batteries by utilizing converter sludge as a abundant and inexpensive source of iron and dopants has been proposed. A multi-doped FePO4 was synthesized using converter sludge as raw material for lithium ion battery cathodes. The processes included sulfolysis of the sludge to leach target ions into the filtrate, reacting the filtrate with phosphoric acid to prepare a precursor, and roasting the precursor to obtain the single-phase multi-doped FePO4. The results indicated that the obtained product delivers an enhanced capacity of 130mAhg−1 at 0.1C owing to the doping effect of the multiple metal ions derived from the converter sludge. By solid-state reaction and doping, a series of red-emitting phosphors NaxY0.92–x/3(MoO4)y(WO4)1–yO0.5: zEu3+have been synthesized. Through optimization of the process conditions and photoluminescent analysis, one type of red emission is obtained that matches nicely with ultraviolet light-emitting diode (UV-LED) chips.
