Objective To investigate the establishment process and practical effectiveness of nursing outpatient clinics in a certain grass-roots hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Methods A set of improvement measures were carried out including optimizing the layout of outpatient service, training visiting personnel, and simplifying the service items of visiting arrangement. Results The number of nursing outpatient services has increased year by year, the awareness of health care has been improved, and the proportion of non-drug treatment has increased. Conclusion Establishment of nursing outpatient clinics in the grass-roots hospital can meet the health needs of local population, cultivate nursing talents of Traditional Chinese Medicine, promote the development of Traditional Chinese Medicine nursing, and enhance the professional value of nurses. BACKGROUND The south of Jiangxi Province is a typical geographical distribution area of selenium deficiency. However, some research results in recent years indicate that the rice has high selenium content. The reasons for inconsistency about selenium enrichment between soil and rice is still not clear. It is important to discuss the characteristics of selenium content in soil and crops for the utilization of selenium-enriched land resources and the development of selenium-enriched agricultural products. OBJECTIVES To understand the reasons of inconsistency about selenium content between soil and crops in Qingxi area, Ganxian County. METHODS Samples of 1734 topsoil, 57 sets of rice and corresponding root soil were collected from Qingxi area. The content of selenium and its speciation geochemistry in these samples were determined by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry and inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry. The selenium content and distribution characteristics in soil and rice were systematically analyzed, and the influencing factors of selenium bioavailability in root soil were discussed. RESULTS The topsoil in the area was dominated by selenium-enriched soil and selenium-sufficient soil. The selenium content in soil were closely related to soil parent rocks. The rules of soil selenium content in different parent-rock areas were as follows: Paleozoic metamorphic rocks>Mesozoic granite>Neoproterozoic metamorphic rocks>Mesozoic terrigenous clastic rocks>Cenozoic quaternary. The selenium content in root soil were lower than 0.4mg/kg, and selenium-enrichment rate of rice was 64.91%, indicating that it had a high capacity to enrich selenium in the soil (enrichment coefficient was 20.05%). When the selenium content in root soil was more than 0.25mg/kg, the rate of selenium-enrichment reached up to 70.83%, and would produce high-quality selenium-enriched rice stably. The form of selenium was the main factor to influence selenium bioavailability in soil. When the content of total selenium in soil was low, water-soluble, ion-exchangeable and carbonate-bound selenium accounted for a high proportion, which enhanced the bioavailability of selenium. The weak ability of selenium adsorption by low content organic matter was also an important factor for the high bioavailability of selenium. CONCLUSIONS Selenium content in soil, soil physical and chemical index and the influence of selenium form on bioavailability of selenium in soil should be comprehensively considered when exploiting selenium-enriched soil and selenium-sufficient soil in Qingxi area, Ganxian County. It is beneficial to scientifically guide the delimitation of natural selenium-enriched land and develop selenium-enriched rice.

Objective To study and analyze the effect of applying the knowledge, attitude/belief, and practice (KAP) nursing mode in caring for patients who receive fixed orthodontic treatment. Methods A total of 112 patients who re⁃ ceived orthodontic treatment were selected as study subjects. They were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, with 56 patients in each group. Patients in the control group were treated with conventional oral care, while those in the observation group were treated with the KAP nursing mode. The patients􀆳 awareness of the disease, treatment compliance, and orthodontic complications were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment with the KAP nursing mode, the disease cognition score was significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group (P < 0.05). Patient compliance was better in the observation group than in the control group throughout the treatment. Pa⁃ tients in the observation group were more able to return to the hospital on time than those in the control group. The orth⁃ odontic plaque index (OPI) of patients in the observation group decreased during the treatment. The OPI of patients in the observation group was significantly lower than that of patients in the control group at 6 months (t＝2.344) and 12 months (t＝3.721) after the start of the treatment (P < 0.05), and the incidence of orthodontic complications in the observation group was 7.1% (4/56), significantly lower than that in the control group (26.9% (15/56); c2＝9.728, P < 0.05). Conclu⁃ sion Application of the KAP nursing mode can effectively reduce the incidence of complications in patients with fixed orthodontics, improve the oral health of patients, and positively affect orthodontic treatment.

Soil is a main component of the terrestrial ecosystem, and soil carbon research is significant in the carbon cycle and global change. Using the geochemical survey data from Poyang Lake in Jiangxi province and the surrounding economic zone multi-target regional, the total carbon and organic carbon from the surface, middle and deep soil in research area was studied and the organic carbon reserves and organic carbon density distribution characteristics analyzed. The results indicate that the overall carbon in the study area consists mainly of organic carbon. The reserve of organic carbon is 138 million tons and organic carbon density is 3512 t/km2 in the surface soil (0-0.2 m), 439 million tons and 11156 t/km2 in the middle soil (0-1.0 m) and 614 hundred million tons and 15617 t/km2 in the deep soil (0-1.8 m). Compared with the national agricultural geological survey data, organic carbon density of surface soil in the study area is 10.86% higher than that of the national agricultural geology survey, however, organic carbon density of middle and deep soil is close to the results of national agricultural geology. It shows that the research area has huge reserves of organic carbon. Further studies were conducted to uncover the distribution and the distribution characteristics of organic carbon in soil by using the organic carbon density and organic carbon reserves for different soil types, different land utilization types, different geomorphic units and different administrative units. Research results suggest that each layers of soil possesses the same organic carbon density spatial distribution characteristics, which is closely related to the geological background and the vegetation coverage. A high value area of carbon density is located in hilly areas and mountainous regions, such as the paleozoic carbonaceous rock and coal strata from the north of Fengcheng City, the south of Gaoan City and the surrounding of Leping City. The highest organic carbon density occurred in the topsoil of Leping city. Low organic carbon density is located in lake and river valley areas. The results of this study provide reliable data for studying the carbon cycle and carbon emissions in the Jiangxi countryside.

Centrioles comprise the heart of centrosomes, microtubule-organizing centers. To study the function of centrioles in lung and gut development, we genetically disrupted centrioles throughout the mouse endoderm. Surprisingly, removing centrioles from the endoderm did not disrupt intestinal growth or development but blocked lung branching. In the lung, acentriolar SOX2-expressing airway epithelial cells apoptosed. Loss of centrioles activated p53, and removing p53 restored survival of SOX2-expressing cells, lung branching, and mouse viability. To investigate how endodermal p53 activation specifically killed acentriolar SOX2-expressing cells, we assessed ERK, a prosurvival cue. ERK was active throughout the intestine and in the distal lung buds, correlating with tolerance to centriole loss. Pharmacologically inhibiting ERK activated apoptosis in acentriolar cells, revealing that ERK activity protects acentriolar cells from apoptosis. Therefore, centrioles are largely dispensable for endodermal growth and the spatial distribution of ERK activity in the endoderm shapes the developmental consequences of centriolar defects and p53 activation.

How tubular organs elongate is poorly understood. We found that attenuated ciliary Hedgehog signaling in the gut wall impaired patterning of the circumferential smooth muscle and inhibited proliferation and elongation of developing intestine and esophagus. Similarly, ablation of gut-wall smooth muscle cells reduced lengthening. Disruption of ciliary Hedgehog signaling or removal of smooth muscle reduced residual stress within the gut wall and decreased activity of the mechanotransductive effector YAP. Removing YAP in the mesenchyme also reduced proliferation and elongation, but without affecting smooth muscle formation, suggesting that YAP interprets the smooth muscle-generated force to promote longitudinal growth. Additionally, we developed an intestinal culture system that recapitulates the requirements for cilia and mechanical forces in elongation. Pharmacologically activating YAP in this system restored elongation of cilia-deficient intestines. Thus, our results reveal that ciliary Hedgehog signaling patterns the circumferential smooth muscle to generate radial mechanical forces that activate YAP and elongate the gut.

The production of high‐carbon hard wire steel at high speeds necessitates the use of appropriate technical support to ensure cost‐efficiency and optimal performance of the special steel casting machine. This study investigates the industrial application of single‐roller hard reduction technology in a domestic steel plant for the production of high‐carbon hard wire steel billets, specifically of section 165 × 165 mm. The produced billets meet all customer specifications and demonstrate the benefits of this approach, including lower comprehensive costs, suitability for modification, and advanced technical concepts. These features make this method compatible with a wide range of billet casting machines, from standard to specialized. In this research, discussion is done on the reduction process, the layout of withdrawal and straightening units (WSUs), and the optimal casting speed. It is concluded that bow‐type billet casting machines using rigid dummy bars can achieve single‐roller hard reduction by only three WSUs, offering lower comprehensive costs and suitability for modification. This approach is particularly beneficial for small billet casting machines undergoing an upgrade from general to high‐quality and ultimately to special steel. During the process of increasing the central density of the billet and improving central defects using single‐roller hard reduction technology, it is observed that defects in the central region gravitated toward the center. For billet casting machines with a bow radius of 10 m, considering process tolerance, the maximum casting speeds achievable with single‐roller hard reduction are 2.95–3.40 m min−1 for a section of 150 × 150 mm, 2.60–3.0 m min−1 for a section of 160 × 160 mm, and 2.45–2.80 m min−1 for a section of 165 × 165 mm. To achieve higher casting speeds for high‐carbon hard wire steel, it is necessary to modify the machine configuration to flexible dummy bars. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
