Abstract: Cancer‐Associated Fibroblasts (CAFs) originate from the activation of fibroblasts in the Tumor Microenvironment (TME) during tumorigenesis, resulting in the promotion of tumor growth, metabolism, and metastasis. Exosomes, which can locally or remotely transfer miRNAs, lncRNAs, proteins, metabolites, and other substances to other cells, have a size and range distribution of 30 to 150 nm and have been described as new particles that mediate communication among neighboring and/or distant cells. Exosomes have regulatory roles in the tumor microenvironment that are different from those in the tumor cells, including mediating the regulation of tumor progression, delivery of miRNAs involved in reprogramming Normal Fibroblasts (NFs) into CAFs, and the modulation of tumor initiation and metastasis. Exosomes can be useful biomarkers of the tumor microenvironment and for the therapy and diagnosis of different diseases. Relevant interactions with cancer cells reprogram NFs into CAFs or allow cell-to-cell communication between CAFs and cancer cells. Several researchers have started exploring the precise molecular mechanisms related to exosome secretion, uptake, composition, and corresponding functions of their "cargo." However, little is known about the processes by which exosomes affect cancer behavior and their potential use as diagnostic biomarkers for cancer treatment. Therefore, the crosstalk between CAFs and exosomes during tumorigenesis and the effects of exosomes as biomarkers and drug carriers for therapy are discussed in this review.

Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most prevalent malignancies of the digestive tract. Ginsenoside Rh1 was reported to exert effects on GC. The current study set out to explore the mechanism underlying Ginsenoside Rh1 effects on GC. With oxaliplatin (OXA) serving as the positive control, human GC cells AGS were treated with 0, 10, 25, 50, 74, or 100 μM of ginsenoside Rh1 for 48 h. Proliferation, migration, invasion, and apoptosis were subsequently assessed by means of MTT, scratch test, Transwell, and TUNEL, respectively. AGS cells were further jointly treated with Rh1 and the TGF-β/Smad pathway activator Kartogenin, followed by detection of TGF-β/Smad pathway effects on AGS biological behaviours. Moreover, TGF-β/Smad pathway activation was detected with a Western blot assay. Furthermore, xenograft tumour models were established and tumour growth was recorded. Ki-67 expression patterns and apoptosis were detected with immunohistochemistry and TUNEL, respectively. In vitro, Ginsenoside Rh1 repressed AGS cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, and further promoted apoptosis, with a concentration of 50 μM Rh1 exerting the equivalent effects as OXA. In vivo, Ginsenoside Rh1 inhibited GC proliferation and induced tumour cell apoptosis. Mechanistically, Ginsenoside Rh1 reduced TGF-β1 and TGF-β2 levels and Smad2 and Smad3 phosphorylation levels. Collectively, our findings highlighted that ginsenoside Rh1 inhibited GC cell growth and tumour growth in xenograft tumour models via inhibition of the TGF-β/Smad pathway.

Distant metastasis is the major contributor to the high mortality rate of colorectal cancer (CRC). To overcome the poor prognosis caused by distant metastasis, the mechanisms of CRC metastasis should be further explored. Epigenetic events are the main mediators of gene regulation and further affect tumor progression. Recent studies have found that some epigenetic enzymes are often dysregulated or mutated in multiple tumor types, which prompted us to study the roles of these enzymes in CRC metastasis. In this review, we summarized the alteration of enzymes related to various modifications, including histone modification, nonhistone modification, DNA methylation, and RNA methylation, and their epigenetic mechanisms during the progression of CRC metastasis. Existing data suggest that targeting epigenetic enzymes is a promising strategy for the treatment of CRC metastasis.

Objective. We analyzed the efficacy and pharmacological mechanisms of action of Zhen Ren Yang Zang decoction (ZRYZD) on ulcerative colitis (UC) using meta-analysis and network pharmacology. Methods. The major databases were searched for randomized controlled trials of ZRYZD for the treatment of UC. Meta-analysis of the efficacy of ZRYZD on UC was conducted using RevMan software. Active compounds and target genes were acquired using the Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database and Analysis Platform. UC-related genes were searched using the GeneCards database. Gene Ontology (GO) functional enrichment and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analyses were performed using RGUI. A compound-target network was constructed using Cytoscape software, and a protein-protein interaction network was constructed using the STRING database. Molecular docking simulations of the macromolecular protein targets and their corresponding ligand compounds were performed using the AutoDock tool and AutoDock Vina software. Results. Meta-analysis revealed that the total effective rate and recovery rate of clinical efficacy were significantly higher in the experimental group than those of the control group. The screening identified 169 active compounds and 277 active target genes for ZRYZD. The 277 active target genes were compared with the 4,798 UC-related genes. This identified 187 active target genes of ZRYZD for UC that correlated with 138 active compounds. GO functional enrichment and KEGG pathway enrichment analyses were performed, and compound-target and protein-protein interaction networks were constructed. The key compounds and key target proteins were then selected. Finally, target protein binding with the corresponding compound was analyzed using molecular docking. Conclusion. Our findings demonstrate the effectiveness and safety of ZRYZD for the treatment of UC and provide insight into the underlying pharmacological mechanisms of action. Furthermore, key compounds were identified, laying the foundation for future studies on ZRYZD for the treatment of UC.

High temporal resolution images acquired using 1000fps HSAngio can be used to visualize blood flow patterns and derive flow velocities during neurointerventional procedures. High Speed Angiography (HSA) requires imaging detectors with both high-temporal and high-spatial resolution. Both the Aries and Acteon detectors by Direct Conversion (Stockholm, Sweden) are CdTe direct photon-counting detectors (PCD) that have acquisition frame rates of up to 1000-fps and a 100-micrometer pixel pitch; however, the new Aries detector offers a larger field of view (512 × 768 pixels) compared to the smaller Actaeon detector (256 × 256 pixels). An expanded field of view is required for imaging of larger vasculature, thus the Aries offers this advantage. Evaluations were performed of both detectors under Anti-Coincidence Circuitry (ACC-ON) mode, which corrects for charge sharing between pixels. Initial evaluations of instrumentation noise and detector energy-threshold calibration using Am-241 gamma spectroscopy were performed for the new Aries detector. Linearity was also evaluated for the Aries for each of the 12 individual modules that compose the detector field to check for homogeneity in response to exposure throughout the detector. Finally, Normalized Noise Power Spectrum (NNPS), Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) and Detective Quantum Efficiency (DQE) were then compared between the Aries and Actaeon detectors at two different exposures and detector energy thresholds. The detectors are linear up to approximately 1000 μR and have no instrumentation noise above a threshold of 15 keV. As expected, the MTF’s and DQE’s are similar between the Aries and Actaeon detectors, and there are thus no tradeoff’s in image quality to achieve the larger FOV.

High-speed 1000-fps x-ray Angiography (HSAngio) images can be used to visualize blood-flow patterns and derive flow velocities during neurointerventional procedures. In this work, we present for the very first-time, orthogonal views of contrast injection in an aneurysm model acquired simultaneously using biplane HSAngio imaging. 3-D printed in-vitro models A and B of two different internal carotid-artery aneurysms were connected to a flow loop (circulation fluid: 60% water, 40% glycerol solution, circulation flow rate: 8 L/s). An automatic programmable injector (KD Scientific Legato 110) injected iodine contrast agent at a rate of 88 mL/min for a duration of 3 sec. With an RQA5 spectrum, 1000 fps HSAngio sequences of the contrast injection were acquired simultaneously on the frontal plane using the Actaeon detector (Direct Conversion, Stockholm) and on the lateral plane using the Aries (Direct Conversion, Stockholm) detector. The start of contrast injection and simultaneous biplane x-ray exposures and detector image acquisitions were manually synchronized to capture the initial inflow of contrast into the aneurysm region. For model A the frontal plane images gave a better visualization of the flow streamlines in the parent artery in the inflow (average velocity 28 cm/s) and outflow (average velocity 24 cm/s) region of the aneurysm. The vortices within the aneurysm region especially within the aneurysm dome were better visualized in the lateral plane images (average velocity 27 cm/s). Biplane HSAngio imaging techniques can give more accurate representations of 3-D blood flow within the complex vascular pathology of the human brain, compared to single-plane imaging.

This contribution reports a facile synthesis of anticancer bioactive peptides (ACBP) - functionalized selenium particles (ACBP-S-Se) with enhanced anticancer activities and a detailed mechanistic evaluation of its regulation of oxidative stress in vitro. Structural and chemical characterizations were proved by ultraviolet absorption spectrum (UV), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Nuclear magnetic resonance carbon (13C NMR) and hydrogen spectra (H NMR), scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectrom (EDX) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The results show that ACBP are effectively sulfhydrylation modification with S-acetylmercaptosuccinic anhydride (SAMSA) via chemical absorption. After the polypeptide was modified by sulfhydrylation, there were many sulfhydryl groups on the molecule, and the sulfhydryl group was used as the binding site of Se. A panel of selected human cancer cell lines demonstrated high susceptibility toward ACBP-S-Se and displayed significantly reduced proliferative abilities. Finally, the results presented herein suggest bioactive peptide chelate selenium element effectively inhibited the proliferation of MKN-45 and MKN-74 cell in vitro, which in turns allowed the successful application of the ACBP-S-Se in highly complex human cell lines. The related the regulation of oxidative stress gene is CDKN1A, CCNB1, TXN and MAP3K5, while CDKN1A and TXN have ability to protecting cells to reduce oxidative stress and promoting cell growth arrest. Therefore, the great potential exhibited by ACBP-S-Se could make them an ideal candidate as a chemotherapeutic agent for human cancers, especially for gastric cancer.

Protein kinase RNA-like Endoplasmic Reticulum Kinase (PERK) is an endoplasmic reticulum stress sensor that possesses pro-survival capability and contributes to cell homeostasis and survival. Leucine-rich repeat-containing G-protein coupled receptor 5 (Lgr5) has been recognized as a stem cell marker in intestinal epithelial cells. To determine whether PERK modulates the proliferation of intestinal stem cells, we investigated the effects of PERK knock-down on intestinal Lgr5-positive stem cells in mice. Lgr5-EGFP knock-in mice were fed with lentivirus-PERK shRNA twice a day for three days. Isolated intestinal Lgr5-positive stem cells were treated with lentivirus-PERK shRNA. The number of Lgr5-positive cells, the proliferation and apoptotic indices, several biomarkers for proliferation and differentiation, and Akt expression in intestinal stem cells were detected in vivo, in vitro and in two intestinal epithelial injury models caused by radiotherapy and sepsis. PERK knock-down could significantly diminish the number and proliferation of Lgr5-positive cells, induce the low expression of several proliferation markers and the high expression of several differentiation markers in Lgr5-positive cells, enhance the apoptotic Lgr5-positive cells, and reduce the Akt expression in intestinal Lgr5-positive stem cells. Similar results were observed in radiotherapy- and sepsis-induced intestinal injuries. Moreover, PERK inhibition markedly decreased the survival of mice in response to radiation and sepsis. These results suggest a critical role for PERK in the proliferation and survival of intestinal stem cells in mice.

Multiphase carbon-based nanocomposites have aroused extensive attention because of their excellent functionality, especially in thermal management applications. Meantime, nanocomposites are required to obtain better properties to meet the increasingly serious challenges. Some theories and models have been developed to investigate the thermal transport property of nanocomposites. These models provide theoretical foundation and guidance for the design and synthesis of advanced nanocomposites. Among these models and theories, effective medium theory (EMT) and its related theories are efficient approaches to predict the thermal conductivity of nanocomposites. In this chapter, we first present the modification of the EMT and propose basic theoretical models to predict the thermal conductivity of diverse multiphase nanocomposites. Next, we take three typical ternary nanocomposites as examples to get comprehensive predictable models. Then specific cases are utilized to validate the derived models and investigate the effects of materials properties on the thermal conductivity. Finally, we modify EMT models by taking into account the percolation effect and apply them to predict the thermal conductivity of multiphase nanocomposites with percolating networks.

Background. Individuals at a prediabetic stage have had an augmented cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk and CVD-related mortality compared to normal glucose tolerance (NGT) individuals, which may be attributed to the impaired vascular endothelial repair capacity. In this study, circulating endothelial progenitor cells’ (EPCs) number and activity were evaluated, and the underlying mechanisms in premenopausal women with impaired glucose regulation were explored. Methods. Circulating EPCs’ number and activity and flow-mediated dilation (FMD) were compared in premenopausal women with NGT, isolated impaired fasting glucose (i-IFG), or isolated impaired glucose tolerance (i-IGT). Plasma nitric oxide (NO), EPCs-secreted NO, and intracellular BH4 levels were also measured. The key proteins (Tie2, Akt, eNOS, and GTPCH I) in the guanosine triphosphate cyclohydrolase/tetrahydrobiopterin (GTPCH/BH4) pathway and Tie2/Akt/eNOS signaling pathway were evaluated in these women. Results. It was observed that the i-IGT premenopausal women not i-IFG premenopausal women had a significant reduction in circulating EPCs’ number and activity as well as reduced FMD when compared to NGT subjects. Plasma NO levels or EPCs-secreted NO also decreased only in i-IGT women. The expression of GTCPH I as well as intracellular BH4 levels declined in i-IGT women; however, the alternations of key proteins’ expression in the Tie2/Akt/eNOS signaling pathway were not observed in either i-IGT or i-IFG women. Conclusions. The endothelial repair capacity was impaired in i-IGT premenopausal women but was preserved in i-IFG counterparts. The underlying mechanism may be associated with the downregulated GTCPH I pathway and reduced NO productions.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been recognized to be conducive to enhancing the efficiency and reducing the side effects in the whole course of cancer treatment. The mechanisms of TCM/chemotherapy combination involved with interleukin-7 (IL-7) potentially enhance immune responses against tumor. In the present study, we emphasized on a herbal formulation Yi-qi-yang-yin-tian-sui-fang or TCM for short, and investigated its roles in chemotherapy in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The mice bared with tumor were treated with cisplatin (DDP) and simultaneously administrated with/without low, medium and high doses of TCMs (effective content: 0.5, 2.0 and 8.0 g/per mice) via oral gavage. The results indicated that combination of TCM further elevated the therapy efficiency of DDP in a dose-dependent manner. The growth of tumor cells was estimated by Ki-67 stain and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP-biotin nick-end labeling (TUNEL) assay. The addition of TCM to the DDP treatment could significantly decrease the expression of Ki-67 and promote the apoptosis of tumor cells. In addition, the serum IL-7 level was down-regulated by DDP but restored by the treatment of TCM. The expression of IL-7 and its receptor IL-7R in tumor tissues was also recovered by TCM. Furthermore, the side effect from bone marrow suppression (myelosuppression) induced by DDP were assessed. TCM could abrogate DDP-induced apoptosis of bone marrow and also remarkably induced the expressions of IL-7 and hematopoietic growth factors including G-CSF, GM-CSF, SCF, and SDF-1 in bone marrow. These data indicated that this TCM combined with DDP showed superior anti-tumor effects with reduced myelosuppression via up-regulating IL-7.

In order to solve the decision-making problem in the purchase of private cars, this paper takes several compact family cars as the research object. The price, power, fuel consumption, configuration and space of the car are selected as the research indicators. The relevant mathematical model is established based on analytic hierarchy process combined with relevant data information of automobile market. The results of this paper can provide consumers with some decision references and suggestions in reality.

Decision makers are often faced with the achievement of multiple goals in real life. The multi-objective programming model based on priority factors is an effective mathematical model to deal with multiple objectives, but it has some defects. In this paper, the concept of the relative deviation is introduced to deal with the defects of the multi-objective programming model based on priority factors, and the multi-objective programming model based on the relative deviation is proposed. A case study of portfolio decisions is given to illustrate the model. Results show that the model in this paper has more advantages than the traditional model based on priority factors.

To investigate whether uric acid could regulate urate transporter 1 (URAT1) protein and activity level, we established uric acid nephropathy (UAN) rat model and detected their serum uric acid and URAT1 level with or without the treatment of allopurinol. Results here showed that allopurinol could reduce serum uric acid level in UAN rat model. We further found that in UAN rats, the total and surface URAT1 expression level were both increased while this increase could be blocked by allopurinol treatment. By treating URAT1 stable expressed HEK cell with monosodium urate (MSU) crystals, we found that URAT1 level showed an increase in both total and cell surface level, and it would colocalize more with Rab11 instead of Rab7. Consistently, we also found that the total URAT1 protein level will show an increase in the presence of lysosome inhibitors but not ubiquitin-proteasome inhibitors. Furthermore, we also found that MSU crystal could drive Numb, a clathrin-coated adaptor protein which performs a key function in cell division, out of cell surface and disassociated it from URAT1. Finally, we found that Numb short hairpin RNA (shRNA)-transfected showed a phenocopy as MSU treatment, while Numb-2A mutation over-expression could resist crystal-induced phenotypes. These findings indicated that uric acid crystal could increase URAT1 membrane distribution through inhibiting Numb-induced URAT1 lysosome degradation.

Aimed at abnormal score from evaluation experts, real data from Shanghai double-blind sampling system of graduate dissertation and thesis between 2013 and 2014 have been in depth analysis and mining. Some basic judgment rules of abnormal score are summed up, and monitoring model for abnormal score is proposed. By the least squares method and the multiple regression models, the equation of monitoring model for abnormal score is constructed. Finally, the abnormal monitoring coefficient of five evaluation indicators on dissertation and thesis, including topic selection, innovativeness, academic nature, applicability and accuracy, are generated by real data from Shanghai double-blind sampling system of graduate dissertation and thesis between 2013 and 2014. The goodness fit test of error range constant on monitoring model for abnormal score is operated by real data from double-blind review on graduate dissertation of Master of Engineering in Shanghai Jiao Tong University between 2013 and 2014. It is strengthened the association between items and sub-items of double-blind review, and provided effective data resource for Shanghai Degree & Graduate Education Informatization Platform to construct a re-evaluation system.

Uric acid nephropathy (UAN) is caused by excessive uric acid, and is a key risk factor for uric acid nephrolithiasis, gouty arthritis, renal diseases and cardiovascular diseases. The present study aimed to evaluate the protective effect of fucoidan, a sulfated polysaccharide component of brown algae, on UAN and to elucidate the underlying molecular mechanism. A rat model of UAN was induced by adenine treatment, and rats were then randomly assigned to control, model or fucoidan treatment groups. Hematoxylin and eosin staining of the kidney tissues of rats with UAN was subjected to conventional morphological evaluation. Cellular infiltrate in the tubules, atrophic glomeruli, tubular ectasia, granuloma hyperplasia focal fibrosis and accumulated urate crystals in the tubules of UAN rat renal tissues were observed. These symptoms of kidney damage were reduced in the fucoidan treatment group. Periodic acid methenamine silver-Masson staining was performed and the results indicated that renal interstitial fibrosis was reduced among renal tissues from the fucoidan treatment group compared with the model group. Terminal deoxynucleotidyl-transferase-mediated dUTP nick end labelling staining revealed a lower proportion of apoptotic nuclei in the kidneys of the fucoidan treatment group compared with the model group. Amidoxime-functionalized silica coated Fe3O4 (Fe3O4@SiO2-AO) was synthesized and carefully characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy, and magnetic measurements. The prepared Fe3O4@SiO2-AO was applied to adsorb U(VI) from aqueous solutions and exhibited enhanced sorption capacity for U(VI) in comparison with raw silica coated Fe3O4 due to the strong chelation of amidoxime to U(VI). Effects of contact time, pH, ionic strength, interfering ions, U(VI) concentration, and temperature on the sorption of U(VI) on Fe3O4@SiO2-AO were investigated. The kinetic process of U(VI) sorption on Fe3O4@SiO2-AO reached equilibrium within 2 h. The sorption was strongly dependent on pH and independent of ionic strength, indicating that the sorption was mainly dominated by inner-sphere surface complexation. The sorption isotherm agreed well with the Langmuir model, having a maximum sorption capacity of 0.441 mmol g−1 at pH = 5.0 ± 0.1 and T = 298 K. The U(VI)-loaded Fe3O4@SiO2-AO could be readily separated from aqueous solutions by an external magnetic field and efficiently regenerated by 1 mol L−1 HCl with only slight decrease in U(VI) sorption capability. Findings of the present work suggest that Fe3O4@SiO2-AO is a potential and suitable candidate for the preconcentration and separation of U(VI) from seawater and contaminated wastewater.

Osteoporosis is a common disease causing fracture in older populations. Abnormal apoptosis of osteoblasts contributes to the genesis of osteoporosis. Inhibiting apoptosis of osteoblasts provides a promising strategy to prevent osteoporosis. The proliferation of osteoblasts isolated from osteoporotic patients or healthy subjects was determined by MTT assay. Apoptosis was determined by Annexin V/PI assay. Protein expression was measured by western blot. The proliferation of osteoblasts isolated from osteoporotic patients was inhibited and the apoptosis level of these cells was higher than the osteoblasts from healthy subjects. Incubation with psoralen or estradiol significantly enhanced the proliferation and decreased the apoptosis level of osteoporotic osteoblasts. Western blot demonstrated that psoralen or estradiol treatment downregulated the expression of IRE1, p-ASK, p-JNK, and Bax. Meanwhile, expression of Bcl-2 was upregulated. Pretreatment by IRE1 agonist tunicamycin or JNK agonist anisomycin attenuated the effect of psoralen on osteoporotic osteoblasts. Psoralen inhibited apoptosis of osteoporotic osteoblasts by regulating IRE1-ASK1-JNK pathway.

The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of tanshinone IIA, an extract of the Chinese medicine Que Xie Hua Yu Tang, on uric acid nephropathy (UAN) and to elucidate the underlying mechanisms. UAN rat model was established. Fifty UAN rats were randomly allocated into 5 groups: adenine-treated group, allopurinol-treated group, and low/middle/high dose of tanshinone IIA-treated groups. Meanwhile, another 10 rats were used as normal controls. Serum uric acid (UA), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), serum creatinine (Scr), MCP-1, and IL-1β levels were measured. Histological staining was performed. Comparison between the adenine group and treatment (allopurinol and tanshinone IIA) groups showed compound treatment could attenuate the inflammation status of the kidneys and decrease serum UA levels. Among different kinds of medicine, tanshinone IIA had similar effects as allopurinol and exerted anti-inflammatory and renal protective effect in a dose-dependent manner. Furthermore, we found tanshinone IIA alone could also inhibit urate-induced MCP-1 and IL-1β overexpression both in vivo and in vitro, accompanied with inhibition of NF-κB translocation from cytosome to nucleus. Tanshinone IIA could protect rats from uric acid-induced kidney damage, probably by attenuating renal inflammatory status.

The rationality of a fuzzy choice function is a hot research topic in the study of fuzzy choice functions. In this paper, two common fuzzy sets are studied and analyzed in the framework of the Banerjee choice function. The complete rationality and bounded rationality of fuzzy choice functions are defined based on the two fuzzy sets. An assumption is presented to study the fuzzy choice function, and especially the fuzzy choice function with bounded rationality is studied combined with some rationality conditions. Results show that the fuzzy choice function with bounded rationality also satisfies some important rationality conditions, but not vice versa. The research gives supplements to the investigation in the framework of the Banerjee choice function.

Abstract There are only nine primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) cases that have arisen in lung parenchyma without pleural or chest wall involvement in the literature. Here, we present a long–term survival case of pulmonary PNET. A pulmonary mass was detected in a 19-year-old man on a chest radiograph and computed tomography image. At the three-year follow-up, the mass had enlarged in diameter by two-fold. The lesion was resected via lower left lobectomy. Histologically, the tumor was composed of uniform cells with round nuclei and scanty cytoplasm arranged in lobules with rosettes and pseudorosettes formation. Immunohistochemically, the tumor was positive for CD99, vimentin, neuron specific enolase and chromogranin A, and negative for cytokeratins, CD3, desmin, and leukocyte common antigen. Pancreatic metastasis occurred sixteen months after the first surgery, which was managed by pancreatectomy. The patient has survived seven years after the mass was initially detected, and four years after the first lobectomy. To evaluate the clinical study of Zhuyutongmai (ZYTM) Capsule in treating senile cerebral infarction and effect on function of vascular endothelium.Sixty-four aged patients with cerebral infarction were randomly divided into the treated group treated with ZYTM and the control group treaded with Naoluotong. The clinical effect was observed. The hemorrheologic and hemodynamic parameters, the blood levels of endothelin (ET) and nitric oxide (NO) were determined before and after treatment.After treatment of ZYTM, the hemorrheologic and hemodynamic parameters were all significantly improved (P0.01 or P0.05), the therapeutic effect of ZYTM was better than that of Naoluotong (P0.05), compared with the control group after treatment, the level of ET in the treated group were lower (P0.01), and level of NO were higher (P0.01).ZYTM has good effect in treating senile cerebral infarction.

To explore the effect of Dan Shao Tang (DST) in treating simple hematuria of masked nephritis of deficiency of Yin with damp-heat symptom.Sixty patients of simple hematuria of masked nephritis of deficiency of Yin with damp-heat symptom were divided into two groups in random, 35 patients in treatment group were treated with Dan Shao Tang and westen medicine, and 25 patients in control group were treated only with western medicine. The effect, change of hematuria and immunity index of the two groups were observed three months later.The total efficiency of treatment group (65.71%) is better than that of control group (36%). Treatment group is obviously better than control group on decreasing hematuria and improving immune function.Dan Shao Tang is effective to treatment on simple hematuria of masked nephritis of dificiency of Yin with damp-heat symptom effectively.

To explore the effect of "Dan Shao Tang" (DST) on mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis (MsPGN) of deficiency of Yin with damp-heat symptom.90 patients with MsPGN of deficiency of Yin with damp-heat symptom were randomly divided into two groups. 54 patients in treatment group were treated with DST and western medicine, and 36 patients in control group were treated only with western medicine. We observed the effect and indexes change including renal function, proteinuria, hematuria, lipid before and after treatment.After three months treatment, the general effective rate in treatment group was 75.93%, which was markedly higher than that in control group (47.22%, P0.01). Treatment group is obviously better than control group on decreasing proteinuria and hematuria, improving renal function, ameliorating lipid metabolism (P0.05).DST is effective on MsPGN of deficiency of Yin with damp-heat symptom.
