O presente artigo tem por objetivo apresentar a relevância do bibliotecário enquanto mediador das tecnologias da informação e comunicação no âmbito do ensino superior. Destaca-se quais são suas competências, tanto básicas quanto essenciais para que o bibliotecário possa desempenhar com satisfação sua profissão em meio a ‘era da informação’, da qual faz-se necessário adquirir outras habilidades, tanto técnicas, quanto interpessoais. Dentro do contexto do ensino superior, o bibliotecário tem como principal função ‘apoiar as atividades de ensino, pesquisa e extensão’ dando suporte aos docentes e alunos na procura pela informação certa e atualizada. Enfatiza-se a função educadora do bibliotecário na disseminação das tecnologias de informação e comunicação, cabendo ao bibliotecário adotar metodologias e estratégias para disseminá-las, bem como mapear as deficiências dos usuários em utilizá-las, cabendo ao profissional da informação adaptar as TICS para os serviços e produtos que serão oferecidos pela biblioteca. Como mediador, o bibliotecário deve também estimular o senso crítico dos usuários em relação à seleção e filtragem da informação, visto que há um aumento exponencial de informações, e que muitas vezes, causa insegurança quanto à confiabilidade das fontes. Ressalta a relevância do bibliotecário em firmar parcerias com os docentes, já que ambos caminham juntos na formação acadêmica do aluno, assim sendo, ele pode propor atividades de treinamentos em bases de dados, viabilizando recursos didáticos digitais para serem utilizados pelo docente em sala de aula, focando na pesquisa bibliográfica em fontes confiáveis, além de ensinar como utilizar as TICS em favor de um melhor desempenho no processo de ensino-aprendizagem.

The pivotal position of audiovisual media in the present-day world is undeniable. These media are, as of the last few decades, the most important conduits of information and knowledge. This “audiovisual literacy” (cf. Zabalbeascoa, 2010) arose at a time when consumers spend more time in front of screens than any other vehicle of information. It is against this backdrop that audiovisual translation (AVT) has been recognised for its role as the main facilitator of interlinguistic and intercultural transfers. This has been the case for the project “Remembering the Past, Learning for the Future: Research-Based Digital Learning from Testimonies of Survivors and Rescuers of the Holocaust” [ID 740639658] that was funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, where AVT scholars played a signi cant role in helping create 6 digital resources in Portuguese for the IWitness platform (USC Shoah Foundation). Without interlingual and intersemiotic translation, the video testimonies gathered from the Shoah Foundation’s Visual History Archive, and selected for this project, would have been walled in the language and culture to which they belong, despite their common historical circumstances, i.e., the II WW genocide. Our option was then to provide interlingual subtitling, as Portugal is, for the most part, a subtitling country, to which we added information on paralinguistic features, such as intonation, background noises or music, thus considering various audiences. In doing so, we consciously engaged in an accessibility approach, by including features typical of subtitling for the deaf and hard-of-hearing. With this paper, we aim to present and describe our subtitling corpus created within this project that consists of 40 videos and over 1200 subtitles, according to a set of criteria. Moreover, we will seek to discuss the problems we encountered in this project and the solutions we came up with, and ultimately reflect on the part subtitling played in enhancing the knowledge of the past. info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

The development of Media Accessibility (MA) has brought to the fore concerns with the inclusion of people with disabilities in all walks of life, from the traditional audiovisual contexts (e.g. TV and cinema) to other cultural and historical venues, including other life events, such as births, weddings, and the like. These concerns stemmed from the fact that, in the 1980s and 1990s, attention was focused on the need for television channels and cinema houses to provide accessible programming including then subtitling for the deaf and hard-of-hearing (SDH) and audiodescription (AD), and later respeaking. While the USA and the UK were the pioneers internationally, other European countries slowly engaged in such practices and developed guidelines to cater for these needs. One such case is Germany where Bernd Benecke (from Bayerischer Rundfunk) has been a reference in MA when it comes to AD in TV programmes. As a result, accessibility television services have become a legal requirement worldwide, and in particular in European countries, since the early 2000s. In her ground-breaking survey, Remael (2007) has identified that different countries go through different histories, traditions and priorities with a direct impact on how much SDH each country produces and broadcasts and the procedures it follows. The data collected by Reviers (2016) seems to indicate similar circumstances in regard to Audiodescription. In this paper, we will focus on the case of Portugal, and in particular the state-sponsored channel RTP, in order to offer a more in-depth look into how the accessibility services developed, their current practices and priorities as well as the SDH and AD professionals’ working conditions and main challenges. As in other countries, the development of SDH in Portugal has largely coincided with the introduction of teletext and was initiated by the channel under analysis which has played a key role in recruiting and training local teams of experts, as well as developing and disseminating working practices both internally and externally. In the context of the project AVT Accessibility in Portugal, data has been collected via a questionnaire and follow-up in-depth/qualitative interviews with the different SDH and AD in-house professionals employed at RTP. Preliminary analysis points towards particular linguistic, technological and internal communication challenges, lack of training and of update of guidelines, and that professionals may tend not to identify themselves as translators. It also indicates a lack of knowledge-sharing among European television channels. Finally, it has been possible to note difficult access to the target communities which professionals try to compensate for by having, in the case of AD, blind consultants that check translations. In sum, we will seek to provide a thorough description of RTP’s team of translators in terms of their training, previous experience, work procedures and relation to SDH and AD guidelines and target audiences. This will be complemented with selected information retrieved from the qualitative interviews. Based on this preliminary analysis, we aim to critically reflect on the overall situation and suggest a series of recommendations for moving forward, including conducting a reception-oriented study. info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

INTRODUCTION: Ocular traumas with intraocular foreign bodies (IOFB) can have serious ocular complications, such as retinal detachment and endophthalmitis that can greatly affect the visual outcome. Pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) is the most commonly used technique to remove IOFB from the posterior segment. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the management and outcomes of posterior segment IOFB in a tertiary ophthalmology center. METHODS: Patients that suffered a penetrating eye injury with IOFB retained in the posterior segment who underwent PPV for IOFB extraction between 2010 and 2020 were included and data was collected from patients’ archives. RESULTS: Thirty eight patients with mean age of 48.68 years old were included, 86.8% were males. A percentage of 59.5% came to the ophthalmology emergency at the same day of the accident, but 16.2% took 3 days or more to seek medical help. The most common complications on initial examination included traumatic cataract (52.6%), retinal lesions (34.2%) and hyphema (23.7%). Also, before IOFB extraction, 42.1 % of patients developed endophthalmitis. Systemic antibiotics was administered to 84.2% of patients and 71.1% received intravitreal antibiotics. In order to translate and be translated, low-diffusion languages often use strategies that differ from those used by widely spoken languages and therefore create particular challenges for translators. One such strategy is indirect translation (including also relay interpreting). Since there are conflicting opinions about this practice within the translation community, it is unclear to what extent indirect translation is present in translator training. In order to shed some light on this issue, this article reports on an exploratory study that looked at mentions of indirect translation in the European Masters in Translation (EMT) competences, at references to indirect translation in the syllabi of EMT programmes, at tasks to develop specific skills of indirect translation in mainstream training textbooks and at the responses to a survey addressed to translator trainers. Results suggest that indirect translation is overlooked at the institutional level (in the list of EMT competences, in the official EMT syllabi and in published textbooks) but still reaches future translators working with low-diffusion languages via in-class tasks developed by a significant part of surveyed trainers., This work is financed by national funds through the FCT – Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P., within the scope of the projects UIDB/00114/2020 and UIDP/00114/2020.

Introduction The human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) status is important for HER2 targeting therapies. T his information is obtained through immunohistochemistry (IHC) or in situ hybridisation (ISH), which necessitates tissue sampling, and may miss tumor heterogeneity as not every lesion consists of the same cells, nor expresses the same levels of HER2. To assess multiple lesions, whole-body imaging using PET/CT imaging might be a solution. A 68Ga-labeled, NOTA-coupled, single-domain antibody (sdAb) targeting the HER2 receptor has been developed (1). Methods In this phase II trial, 20 patients (pts) with locally advanced or metastatic breast carcinoma (BC) were included. Pts were injected intravenously with a typical dose of 100 ug and an activity range of 98-168 MBq 68GaNOTA-anti-HER2 sdAb, followed by PET/CT (Siemens Biograph Vision, 120 s per bed position and 40 s for the legs) at 90 min post injection (pi). A 2nd tracer injection, followed by PET/CT with identical parameters, was done within 8 days. In both image data sets, up to 5 lesions (minimal diameter 12mm, for lymph nodes in the short axis) per pt were selected with no more than 2 per organ system. Peak Standard Uptake Values (SUVpeak) of selected lesions were measured on both scans with Siemens' Syngo.via VB40 and compared with student t-test and Bland-Altman Plots for differences. Results/Discussion Out of 20 pts included with BC (6 HER2+, 14 HER2-) with a mean age of 58.6 y (37-81), three were scanned only once: one owing to the COVID-19 pandemic and two due to withdrawal of consent. An example of repeated tracer injection and subsequent imaging is shown in fig. 1. No safety concerns were identified in these 20 patients, confirming the excellent safety of this imaging tracer. For repeatability analysis, 50 lesions were delineated by a study team member on both scans in 17 pts. No significant differences between the two measurements were found (p:0.40). The repeatability coefficient (RC) was 38.2%. The mean absolute percentagedifference (MAPD), which is the mean of 1100x(SUV2- all subjects, was 13.6%, comparable to repeated values reported for 18F-FDG (2). Bland-Altman plot with the relative difference is shown in Fig. 2. Independent uptake analysis of all lesions by a central image reviewer, blinded to the HER2 status of the patient is ongoing. Conclusions This study confirms that on PET/CT imaging in patients with breast carcinoma, SUVpeak is a highly repeatable metric for quantifying 68GaNOTA-anti-HER2 sdAb uptake in subsequent scans. lts repeatability is similar to that reported for other routinely used tracers, such as FDG. Additional studies to define the potential clinical benefit of this technique are currently ongoing.

Background: Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) status is an important predictive biomarker in breast cancer (BC). Tumor heterogeneity has been described, with changes in HER2 expression levels between lesions and over the disease course. HER2 expression is assessed on tissue biopsies, at primary diagnosis and in metastatic lesions. A whole-body imaging technique such as PET/CT could help understand expression levels in different lesions. A 68Ga-labeled single domain antibody (sdAb) targeting the HER2 receptor has been developed and proven safe (Keyaerts et al., 2016). Imaging is performed at 90 min post-injection (pi). We report results of a phase II trial to assess the repeatability of the technique in 20 patients and the correlation of tracer uptake with HER2 tissue expression of the lesions present at the time of imaging. Methods: Twenty patients (pts) with a locally advanced or metastatic BC with at least one lesion of minimum 12 mm were included. Pts were injected intravenously with a typical protein mass of 100 µg and a radioactive dose ranging from 98-168 MBq 68GaNOTA-anti-HER2 sdAb. PET/CT images were obtained at 90 min pi. A second tracer injection followed by PET/CT was done with a maximal interval of 8 days. To assess repeatability, up to 5 lesions per pt were selected, with no more than 2 in a single organ. Peak Standard Uptake Values (SUVpeak) of the lesions were measured on both scans and compared with a t-test and Bland-Altman Plots. Images were compared to other available medical or imaging data and interpreted considering the subject’s disease course. Serum and plasma samples were collected before injection and between 60 and 365 days pi and stored for future detection of anti-drug antibodies (ADA) and liquid biopsies analysis for the presence of HER2 amplification. Tissue samples were assessed by central labs using mass spectrometry, immunohistochemistry and in fluorescence situ hybridization. Results: Twenty women with BC (6 HER2+, 14 HER2-) with a mean age of 58.6 y (37-81) were included. Three pts were scanned only once (2 due to withdrawal of consent, 1 due to covid pandemic). Repeatability of the technique was visually scored as excellent. For quantification, 50 lesions were compared on both scans in 17 pts without significant differences between the two measurements (p=0.40). The repeatability coefficient (RC) was 38.2%. The mean absolute percentage difference (MAPD) was 13.6%, comparable to repeat values reported for 18F-FDG. In 3 out of 6 HER2-positive (HER2+) patients, lesions showed high uptake, even better visible than using 18F-FDG in 2 of them. In 2 HER2+ subjects with a negative scan, lesions were confirmed to be true negatives: one patient did not relapse from BC but had tuberculosis; the other was confirmed to have a radiopneumonitis after radiotherapy and no relapse. In 1 HER2+ patient, the uptake was unexpectedly low. However, the HER2 status was also not reconfirmed in the metastatic setting for this subject. In 1 HER2-negative patient, the tumor HER2 status was changed from negative to positive based on a subsequent image-guided biopsy performed in this study. High tracer uptake was also seen in many of the patients presenting with HER2-low BC (IHC 1+ or 2+), indicating the potential of the tracer to detect low-level HER2 expression. Additional correlation to centrally performed tissue and blood analysis is ongoing. Conclusion: 68GaNOTA-Anti-HER2 PET/CT shows high uptake in HER2-expressing BC lesions but also in HER2-low lesions. The technique shows good repeatability and, in some cases, even better sensitivity than 18F-FDG PET/CT. Specificity was confirmed in relapse-free lesions such as tuberculosis and radiopneumonitis. Its sensitivity makes it a promising technique to assess HER2+ and HER2-low lesions in BC patients.
