Foamed concrete is a heat preservation and noise reduction material made of cement and aluminum powder as foaming agent. The experiment mainly studies the influence of different water-cement ratio, foaming agent dosage and cement dosage on the expansion rate of foamed concrete test block. The experimental results show that when the water-cement ratio increases from 0.4 to 0.6, the expansion rate decreases gradually. When the content of aluminum powder foaming agent increased from 0.05% to 0.40%, the expansion rate showed a trend of “increasing first and then decreasing”. When other conditions are the same, the expansion rate of cement increases from 500kg/m3 to 800kg/m3, showing a trend of “decreasing first and then increasing”.

The solubility and stability of platinum-based anticancer agents have a direct bearing on their activity and toxicity. Much research has been conducted over the past decades in order to prepare drugs such as cisplatin and carboplatin with improved efficacy and reduced toxicity. Based on the premise that supramolecular platinum agents may have superior physicochemical properties, we successfully designed a novel anticancer agent, dicycloplatin, which has proven to be active against a number of human malignancies. The crystal structure of dicycloplatin has been determined. An aqueous solution of dicycloplatin was also studied using electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS). Based on the experimental observations, a model of the structure in aqueous solution is proposed which explains both the higher solubility and higher stability of dicycloplatin compared with carboplatin.

A novel Co(II) coordination polymer bridged by 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylate is solvothermally synthesized, which possesses one-dimensional chain structure. The complex crystallizes in the triclinic crystal system,P−1 space group,a = 0.9610(1) nm,b = 0.9684(1) nm,c = 0.7924(1) nm,α = 96.695(9)°,β= 102.741(6)°,γ= 116.551(5)°,V = 0.6236(2) nm3,Z = 2,R 1 = 0.0342,wR 2 = 0.0990. The surface photovoltage spectra measurement shows that the title complex exhibits obvious photovoltage response in the 300–800 nm regions. The variable temperature susceptibility reveals that the complex possesses weak antiferromagnetic property.

A series of N-(2-pyridyl)benzamides (1)–(11) and their nickel complexes, [N-(2-pyridyl)benzamide]dinickel(II) di-μ-bromide dibromide (12)–(16) and (aryl)[N-(2-pyridyl)benzamido](triphenylphosphine)nickel(II) (17)–(24), were synthesized and characterized. The single-crystal X-ray analysis revealed that 12 and 14 are binuclear nickel complexes bridged by bromine atoms and each nickel atom adopts a distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometry. The key feature of the complexes 17, 19 and 23 is each has a six-membered nickel chelate ring including a deprotonated secondary nitrogen atom and an O-donor atom. The nickel complexes show moderate to high catalytic activity for ethylene oligomerization with methylaluminoxane (MAO) as cocatalyst. The activity of 12–16/MAO systems is up to 3.3 × 104 g mol−1 h−1 whereas for 17–24/MAO systems it is up to 4.94 × 105 g mol−1 atm−1 h−1. The influence of Al/Ni molar ratio, reaction temperature, reaction period and PPh3/Ni molar ratio on catalytic activity was investigated.

By using an arylthiolate ligand with a substituent in the para-position, 4-tBuC6H4S−, the yellow silver-thiolate complex {[HNEt3]2n[Ag8Ag4/2(SC6H4tBu-4)12]n·nC2H5OH} (1) has been synthesized and structurally characterized. Complex 1 is ionic composed of [HNEt3]+ cations and a polymeric [Ag8Ag4/2(SC6H4tBu-4)12]n2n− anion. Complex 1 reacts with CS2 in acetone to give a red pentaconta-nuclear silver anionic cluster complex {[HNEt3]4[Ag50S7(SC6H4tBu-4)40]·2CS2· 6C3H6O} (2). The core of the anionic cluster of 2 consists of fifty silver atoms and forty seven sulfur atoms, shaped like a discus with a diameter of ca. 2.0 nm. The single-crystal structure of the coordination polymer [Nd2(C8H5NO4)3 · 4H2O]∞with rhombus-channels is reported in this paper. There are two crystallographically independent Nd(III) ions, and each Nd(III) ion is in the eight-coordinated environment. Seven of eight oxygen atoms are from six 5-aminoisophthalic acid ligands, the other oxygen atom is given by coordination water. Carboxyl groups link two Nd(III) ions using η1,1 and η1,3 modes. Two carboxyl groups from ligands chelate Nd(III) ion to form fourmembered rings. Crystal data: Triclinic, space group P1,a = 1.03680(5) nm,b = 1.66934(15) nm,c = 0.88221(14) nm, α = 99.754(2)β, β = 111.169(4)°, γ = 85.400(4)°. Some ligands linking metal Nd(III) ions parallel toab plane form molecular ladders, and the others linking molecular ladders result in rhombus channels alongc-axis. These coordinated water molecules and amino groups are pendent in the channels.

Three novel hydrated rare earth polyborates, Ln[B8O11(OH)5] (Ln = La−Nd) (1), Ln[B9O13(OH)4]·H2O (Ln = Pr − Eu) (2), and Ce[B5O8(OH)]NO3·3H2O (3) have been synthesized by using boric acid as a flux at 240 °C, starting from rare earth oxides or nitrates and an excess of boric acid. All these polyborates crystallize in monoclinic structures (P21/n) and consist of borate sheets as the fundamental unit, that is, [LnB6O11] sheet in 1 and 2 and [CeB5O9] sheet in 3. The borate sheets all contain a nine-membered borate ring, of which the rare earth cations are located around the center. The borate frameworks in 1 and 3 are two-dimensional, which are interlinked via ionic Ln−O bonds forming 3D structures. While in 2 the borate framework is three-dimensional with small channels filled by water molecules. Annealing the hydrated polyborates 1 and 2 at moderate temperature leads to two anhydrous pentaborates, α-LnB5O9 (4) for Ln = Pr−Eu and β-LnB5O9 (5) for Ln = La, Ce. The molybdenum complex [Mo(η2-C60)(CO)2(dpphen)(dbf)] (1) [dpphen = 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline; dbf = dibutyl fumarate] has been prepared and structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis. In the molecule of (1), the coordination geometry of the Mo atom is distorted octahedral with the phen (1,10-phenanthroline) group of dpphen and two CO groups in the equatorial plane. The Mo atom binds in an η2-fashion to the C—C bonds of C60and dbf. The two C—C bonds are almost mutually orthogonal.

Hydrated rare earth hexaborates H3LnB6O12 (Ln = Sm−Lu) have been synthesized by using molten boric acid as the reaction medium. H3LnB6O12 decomposes at certain temperatures to form anhydrous pentaborates LnB5O9 (Ln = Sm−Er) or orthoborates LnBO3 (Ln = Tm−Lu). The crystal structures of the hexaborates and pentaborates have been determined by single-crystal and powder diffraction techniques. The hydrated hexaborates H3LnB6O12 crystallize in a trigonal structure in the space group R3c, which contain a six-membered ring B6O15 as a fundamental fragment. Anhydrous pentaborates LnB5O9 crystallize in a tetragonal structure that is built up with B4O9 and BO3. LnB5O9 decomposes at higher temperature to metaborates (Ln = Sm−Tb) and orthoborates (Ln = Dy−Er). A phase diagram is presented that shows the stable range of both H3LnB6O12 and LnB5O9. The luminescent property of the europium-doped GdB5O9 was studied.

A series of iron, cobalt and nickel halide complexes, LMX2 (M=Fe, X=Cl; M=Co, X=Cl; M=Ni, X=Br) bearing 2,9-bis(imino)-1,10-phenanthrolinyl ligands [L=2,9-(ArNCH)2C12H6N2] were synthesized. The solid-state structures of 4 and 7 have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction study. Treatment of the complexes LMX2 with methylaluminoxane (MAO) leaded to activate ethylene as oligomerization catalysts.

Reaction of Gd(NO3)3·6H2O with C6H5COONa and phen (phen = phenanthroline) produces a binuclear Gd(III) complex of formula [Gd2(C12H8N2)2(C6H5COO)6]. Structure and magnetism of the product have been studied by X-ray diffraction and magnetic susceptibility measurement. The molecule of the complex contains two Gd(III) ions, two phen molecules and six C6H5COO− groups. The molecular unit is dimeric with an inversion center. Two Gd(III) ions in the molecule are bridged by four C6H5COO− groups and each Gd(III) ion is 8-coordinated in an irregular polyhedron. The GdO distances range from 2.322 to 2.509 A, and those of GdN from 2.580 to 2.652 A. The GdGd separation is 4.053 A. Magnetic measurements at low temperature reveal a weak antiferromagnetic coupling between two Gd(III) ions in the dimer (J=−0.43 cm−1, g=1.94). The IR and UV-VIS-NIR spectra of the dimer have been measured and analyzed.

Nucleophilic addition of the chiral lithium enolates of (S)-(−)-4-benzyl-2-oxazolidinone acetamide with N-tosyl arylaldehyde imines gives β-aryl-β-amino acid derivatives in good yields and excellent diastereoselectivity.

Two new copper(I) iodide coordination compounds [Cu2I2(p-PYNN)4] (1) and [Cu4I4(m-PYNN)4] (2), where p-PYNN and m-PYNN are 4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-2-(4-pyridyl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-1-oxy-3-oxide and 4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-2-(3-pyridyl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-1-oxyl-3-oxide, respectively, were synthesized and characterized. They both were found to be fluorescent. Their crystal structures were determined: 1, triclinic, space group P1-, a = 13.668(3) A, b = 14.280(3) A, c = 7.273(1) A, α = 90.18(3)°, β = 101.86(3)°, γ = 91.09(3)°, Z = 1, R = 0.0310 (Rw = 0.0805) for 4217 observed reflections with I ≥ 2σ(I); 2, triclinic, space group P1-, a = 15.569(9) A, b = 16.247(7) A, c = 15.103(9) A, α = 94.48(5)°, β = 116.15(5)°, γ = 83.07(5)°, Z = 2, R = 0.0686 (Rw = 0.1933) for 8311 observed reflections with I ≥ 2σ(I). Magnetic studies indicated that 1 showed ferromagnetic behavior, while 2 displayed antiferromagnetic properties. A novel electron donor 2 with extended and cross-conjugated structure was synthesized and characterized. Its redox potentials and crystal structure were determined and analyzed. An unexpected product 7 from the thermal decomposition of 2 was also detected and preliminarily characterized.

The crystal structure of praseodymium chloride·α- d -ribopyranose pentahydrate, PrCl 3 ·C 5 H 10 O 5 ·5 H 2 O, M r =487.47, a =9.1989(8), b =8.8214(7), c =9.8233(9) A, β =94.060(3)°, V =795.2(1) A 3 , Z =2, μ =0.71073 A and R =0.0418 for 1923 observed reflections and 172 parameters has been determined. The sugar provides three hydroxyl groups, ax – eq – ax for coordination. The Pr 3+ ion is nine-coordinated with five PrO bonds from water molecules, three from hydroxyl groups and one from chloride. The OH, CO stretching vibrations and COH bending vibrations are shifted in the complex IR spectrum and the hydroxyl groups, water molecules, chloride ions form an extensive hydrogen-bond network.

The synthesis, structural characterization, and electrical conductivity studies of charge-transfer compound (bmim)[Pd(dmit) 2 ] 2 was described. This compound was obtained as small needles by electrocrystalization of (bmim) 2 [Pd(dmit) 2 ]. Crystallographic parmeters for C 20 H 18 N 2 S 20 Pd 2 : monoclinic system; space group: C2/c ; a = 6.3718 (13), b = 14,543 (3), c = 36.339 (7) A ; α = 90, β = 92.04 (3), γ = 90; Z = 4, R = 0.0785 (I > 2σ (I)). The room temperature conductivity of this salt is 1.2 S . cm -1 , and it shows metallic conducting state in the temperature range of 287- 245 K.

The crystal structure of NdCl3·C6H12O6·9H2O has been determined. It crystallizes in the monoclinic system, p2(1)/n space group with cell dimensions: a=15.824(3) A , b=8.633(2) A , c=16.219(3) A , β=107.24°, V=2116.1(7) A 3 and Z=4. Each Nd ion is coordinated to nine oxygen atoms, two from inositol and seven from water molecules, with an Nd–O distance of 2.449–2.683 A, the other two water molecules are hydrogen bonded. No direct contacts exist between Nd and Cl. There is an extensive network of hydrogen bonds in hydroxyl groups, water molecules and chloride ions in the crystal structure of the lanthanide complex. The Raman spectra of Pr–, Nd– and Sm–inositol are similar, which show that the three metal ions have the same coordination mode. The Raman spectra are consistent with their structures.

The homoleptic silver aryl selenolate complex [Ag8(2,4,6–Pr3iC6H2Se)8] 1 was synthesized by the reaction of AgNO3 with an equivalent amount of 2,4,6-triisopropylbenzeneselenol (2,4,6-Pr3iC6H2SeH) in MeCN in the presence of triethylamine at room temperature for 4 h. Recrystallization by slow diffusion of CH3OH into a CH2Cl2 solution gave yellow block crystals. The crystal structure determination indicates that the structure of the Ag8Se8 core of complex 1 consists of a compressed distorted Ag8 hexagonal bipyramid embedded in a distorted rhombohedron formed by eight selenium atoms of the aryl selenolate ligands. The cluster exhibits a strong optical limiting effect with threshold of 0.2 J cm−2, which is about 2.5 times lower than that of C60 in toluene under identical experimental conditions.

Optical limiting property of a novel molybdenum complex of fullerene C 70 , (η 2 -C 70 )Mo(CO) 2 ( o -phen)(DBM), was studied under irradiation of 10-ns laser pulse at 532 nm. The experimental results demonstrated that the derivative performed with better optical limiting behavior than the parent C 70 . An explanation based on the enhanced triplet–triplet absorption dominated by the intramolecular charge transfer was given.

In the medium of H2O, C2H5OH and HAC, the reaction of Gd(NO3)3·6H2O with C6H5COONa and C12H8N2 produced a novel binuclear Gd(III) complex in formula [Gd2(C12H8N2)2 (C6H5COO)6]. Crystallographic data: crystal system, triclinic; space group, P1; unit cell dimensions, a=1.191 9(2) nm,b =1.244 2(2) nm,c = 1.080 4(2) nm, α = 93.57(3)°, β= 113.33(3)°, γ= 105.06(3)°, Z=l. The finalR =0.037 6. The magnetic measurement of the crystal powder in the temperature region of 1.5–300 K shows that this complex possesses antiferromagnetic property with fitting magnetic parametersJ = −0.471 andg =1.975.

Three kinds of experiments have been designed in attempting to observe theparity violation of electroweak force at the phase transition of singlecrystals of D- and L-alanine and valine.(1) An obvious λ phasetransition at 270 ± 1 K was shown in the specific heat measurement ofalanine and valine enantiomers by differential scanning calorimetry. Thebiologically dominant L-enantiomer was found to have lower energy. (2)Magnetization of single crystals of D- and L-alanine and D-valine weremeasured as a function of temperature using the SQUID magnetometer. Thedifference of the mass susceptibility χρ ∼ T curve between theD-alanine and L-alanine is attributable to the variation of intramoleculargeometry of chirality density, which is related to the parity violationenergy shift of a chiral molecule and is a consequence of the short rangeof the weak interaction between the nuclei and electrons. (3) Laser Ramanspectra of D- and L-alanine at different low temperatures (100 K, 250 K,260 K, 270 K, 280 K and 290 K) showed that the second order Cα–Hdeformation modes at 2606 cm-1, 2724 cm-1 of D-alanine vanishedat 270 K but reappeared at 100 K. In the same method, L-alanine has nosuch phenomenon. An obvious decrease in the scattering intensity of themethyne group Cα–H stretching mode at 2964 cm-1 in D-alanineoccurs at the λ transition temperature. We present our experimentsinvolving the possible relevance of Z0 force with Salam's putativephase transition in the origin of homochirality.

Electrochemistry of M(η2-C60)(CO)2(phen)(dbm) (M = W 1, Mo 2; phen = 1,10-phenanthroline; dbm = dibutyl maleate) shows that the complexes undergo four sequential reduction processes. As with free C60, the first three electrons add reversibly (even if the relevant potentials are shifted ca. 0.15 V toward negative values), whereas the fourth reduction features chemical irreversibility. Cyclic voltammetry gives evidence that, as a consequence of the latter process, the metal fragment decomplexes and [C60]3– is released. In good agreement with this picture, a qualitative MO approach shows four close LUMOs for the ground state structure of the uncharged complexes. The first three levels are delocalized over C60 (somewhat extended to the dmb π system), while the fourth one is metal–fullerene antibonding (back donation dπ → π* C60) and its occupation causes fulleride dissociation. The EPR spectra of the electrogenerated [1]– and [2]– monoanions are significantly different from that of [C60]– and seem suggestive of metal character for these radical species. At present, this result is unexpected in that the unpaired electron in the anions [1]– and [2]– should be intuitively centered on the coordinated fullerene.

Reverse saturable absorption of a novel molybdenum complex of fullerene ( η 2 -C 60 ) Mo(CO) 2 (o-phen)(DBM)·2C 6 H 6 ·C 5 H 12 has been investigated under irradiation of 10 ns laser pulses at 532 nm. An enhancement of the optical limiting behavior was observed in comparison with C 60 . An explanation based on the enhanced triplet-state absorption caused by the intra-molecular charge transfer was predicted. The relationship between the clamped laser fluence and low-intensity transmissivity, or the concentration of the solution, was also investigated and a linear dependence was revealed.

Twenty eight new benzyl-substituted cyclopentadienyl titanium complexes have been synthesized. Among them, five typical molecular structures have been studied by X-ray analysis. It was found that in the preparation of ortho-MeO-containing benzyl-substituted titanium complexes, when both two substituents on benzylic carbon atom are Et or more large group, titanoxacycle complexes are always formed. The cyclization was promoted by the presence of halides. The activity order of halides for the cyclization is: LiI-NaI > LiBr-Br2 > NaBr-KI > KBr > I2. High temperature is favourable to the cyclization. At 80°C, the normal ortho-MeO benzyl-substituted cyclopentadienyl titanium complex 26 may be spontaneously converted into metallocyclic complex 19. The position of the MeO group on the benzene ring is the key factor to the cyclization. In the case of meta- and para-MeO benzyl-substituted titanium complexes 23 and 25, there was no possibility to form a titanoxacycle complex, such as 19, because the MeO group is too far from titanium. A probable mechanism involving a four-membered transition state was proposed.

X-ray diffraction is a powerful structure specific method to study the molecular structure, especially for the structure-activity relationships. Combined with other methods, X-ray crystallography could make much more contributions to the environmental science.

The reactions of C5H4NCH NNHC( O)Ph (1) with Fe(II) chloride gave [Fe2(C5H4NC(OEt) NNHC( O)Ph)2(μ-OEt)2Cl2]) (2) in ethanol and [Fe2(C5H4NC(OMe) NNHC( O)Ph)2(μ-OMe)2Cl2] (3) in methanol as well as [Fe(C5H4NCH NNHC( O)Ph)Cl2] (4) in tetrahydrofuran, respectively. The X-ray diffraction analysis reveals their structures and complex 4 is proposed as an intermediate of formation of complexes 2 and 3.

The three dimensional polymeric complex [S 4 Cd 17 (SPh) 24 (CH 3 OCS 2 ) 4/2 [ n · n CH 3 OH ( 1 ) has been synthesized from the reaction of [Cd 4 (SPh) 6 (SPh) 4/2 [ n with CS 2 , DMF and MeOH, and structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis. Its repeat unit is a 17-nuclear cadmium cluster which is linked to four surrounding aggregates through four CH 3 OSC 2 ligands. The method of synthesis is also discussed.

A neutral tetradecanuclear silver thiolate complex has been formed from the reaction of (Ph3P)2Ag(S2CSPh) with CH2Cl2 and McOH, and structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis. The core of the cluster [Ag14(μ6-S)(SPh)12(PPh3)8] contains an Ag14S12 cage composed of staggered Ag6, Ag8 S2 polyhedra. There is μ6-sulfur atom at the centre of the cage, which is weakly bonded to six silver atoms of an Ag6 octahedron. Eight terminal PPh3 ligands are coordinated to the other eight silver atoms, which form an Ag8 cube. Twelve S atoms of a S12 icosahedron bridge the Ag6 and Ag8 polyhedra.

The water-soluble octahedral tin(IV) porphyrin complex, SnCl2tpyp, was synthesized via reaction of H2tpyp with anhydrous SnCl2. The crystal structure of this complex has been determined at room temperature. The tin(IV) atom is coordinated by four nitrogen atoms in a square-planar fashion with an average Sn-Np bond distance of 2.081(9)A, and the coordination sphere is completed by two axial chloro ligands with an average Sn-Cl bond distance of 2.435(5)A, Cl-Sn-Cl = 180.0 (1)°. Crystal data: a = 12.385(12), b = 26.88(2), c = 14.882(9)A, β = 94.16 (7)°, monoclinic, space group C2/c, V = 4941A3, Z = 4, C46H48Cl2N8O6Sn, 2687 observed data, R = 0.085.

Sodium sulpho-salicylate (C7H4SO6Na2) reacts with terbium perchlorate to form Tb(OH)(C7H3SO6)H2O (A) which reacts with lanthanum perchlorate to give the title complex Na3TbLa2(C7H3SO6)4·26H2O (B) whose cyrstal structure was determined. The TbIII and LaIII ions are bridged by tridentate and tetradentate carboxylic groups. The complex is a polymeric molecule formed by a repeating trinuclear HLC structural unit. TbIII is eight-coordinated dodecahedral and LaIII is 10-coordinated with a distorted bicapped square antiprismatic configuration. The excitation and emission spectra showed that the maximum excitation wavelength of A is 356 nm, which is 12 nm greater than that of B, 344 nm. Both A and B have the same emission spectra at their excitation wavelengths 356 and 344 nm; the fluorescence intensity of B is 3.3 times that of A at the maximum emission wavelength 543 nm. The fluorescence enhancement of non-fluorescent ions (NFI) such as LaIII for the fluorescent ions (FI) such as TbIII in one molecule is known as “synergistic fluorescence effect”, which is different from co-fluorescence resulting from the mixing of NFI complex with FI complex. The relationship between the structure and properties is discussed.

The title compound, C82H134Cd2O7S12, formed by reaction of the corresponding cadmium thiolate with CS2 and recrystallization from acetone/ethanol in air. Crystals belong to the triclinic space group P 1, with Z = 2, cell dimensions a = 14.647(13), b = 19.140(20), c = 20.967(10)A, α = 64.79(6), β = 79.56(5), γ = 71.48(7)°, V = 5034A3. The structure was solved by direct methods and was refined to an R of 0.098 for 3754 observed reflections. All the Cd-S bonds were inserted by CS2, then the ligands were oxidized to form unusual ArSCS2O− groups. Cadmium atoms have distorted octahedral geometry. The distance between the two Cd atoms is 3.753A.

The new one-dimensional (1D) coordination complex Mn[N(CN)2]2(2,4′-bpy)2 (1) (2,4′-bpy = 2,4′-bipyridine) has been synthesized. X-ray crystallography analysis reveals that the structure of (1) consists of linear chains of manganese atoms bridged by end-to-end dicyanamide ligands and coordinated by 2,4′-bipyridine ligands. Weak π–π interactions between pyridine planes of adjacent chains force 1D Mn[N(CN)2]2(2,4′-bpy)2 chains into interesting 2D supramolecular arrays. Variable temperature magnetic susceptibility measurement for complex (1) shows that antiferromagnetic exchange interactions exist between manganese(II) centres of the linear chain.

A tetranuclear chlorine-containing cage thiolate cluster complex of cadmium, [HNEt3]2[Cd4(μ-SC6H4But-4)6(SC6H4But-4)Cl3], consisting of a Cd4(μ-S)6 adamantane-like cage, was synthesized directly from the reaction of a cadmium salt and corresponding thiolate. The chloride ions, introduced unexpectedly, act as terminal ligands.

In the presence of lithium bromide, reactions of lithium {3-(o-methoxyphenyl)pentyl}cyclopentadienide with CpTiCl3, MCl4 (M = Ti, Zr) led to a novel formation of M O bondsvia multiple bond cleavage of Me O and M Cl bonds.

The title compound, [Ni(C4H10N5)2], was prepared from an aqueous KOH solution. The coordination geometry around the Ni atom is planar, with the central metal bonded to four ligand N atoms in two bidentate ligands. The deprotonation of the ligand causes an increase of the π-conjugation in the C—N—C system, reducing the bond angle at the N atom to 118.46 (16)°.

A complex of a deprotonated form of metformin with Cu2+, [Cu(C4H10N5)2]·8H2O, was prepared from alkaline aqueous solution. The coordination geometry around the Cu atom is square planar, with four N atoms from two bidentate ligands. The deprotonation of the ligand causes an increase in the π conjugation of the C—N—C system, reducing the bond angle at the central N atom to nearly 120°. The dihedral angle between the two six-membered chelate rings in the complex is 11.31 (5)°. The Cu atom lies on a twofold rotation axis.

The synthesis and characterization of several fullerene-based organometallic complexes containing Mo and W is reported.

The neutral tetradecanuclear copper(I) thiolate cluster complex has been formed from the reaction of (Ph3P)2Cu(S2CSPh) with CH2Cl2 and MeOH and structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis. The core of the [Cu14(μ2-S)(SPh)12(PPh3)6] cluster consists of a sulphur ion at the centre of a cub of eight copper(I) atoms, which is inscribed into an icosahedron of twelve sulphur atoms. The other six copper(I) atoms form an octahedron and the icosahedron of S12 fits inside the octahedron of Cu6.

By the one-pot reaction of lanthanide trichloride with 2 equivalents of sodium cyclopentadienyl and 1 equivalent of sodium 2-methoxyethylcyclopentadienyl in THF, the mixed tricyclopentadienyl lanthanide complexes (C5H5)2Ln(CH3OCH2CH2C5H4) (Ln = La, Sm, Gd, Er, Yb, Y) were obtained. The compound (CH3OCH2CH2C5H4) Y(C5H5)2 (6) crystallized from THF. The central metal Y is coordinated to three cyclopentadienyl ring centroids and the ether oxygen forming a distorted tetrahedron. The average YC(η5) bond distance and YO bond distance of 6 are 2.702 and 2.414 A, respectively.
