Type 2 diabetes mellitus combined with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) leads to an increasing incidence of liver injury year by year, and patients are at a significantly higher risk of developing cirrhosis or even liver failure. No drugs have emerged to specifically treat this disease. The aim of this study is to investigate the mechanisms and causative hub genes of type 2 diabetes combined with MASLD. The data were obtained through the GEO platform for bioinformatics analysis and validated by in vitro experiments to find the causative targets of type 2 diabetes mellitus combined with MASLD, which will provide some theoretical basis for the development of future therapeutic drugs. GSE23343 and GSE49541 were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in type 2 diabetes mellitus combined with MASLD for functional enrichment analysis. And STRING database and Cytoscape software were used to construct Protein–Protein Interaction (PPI) and hub gene networks. And GO (gene ontology, GO) analysis and KEGG (Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes, KEGG) enrichment analysis were performed on target genes. A total of 185 co-expressed DEGs were obtained by differential analysis, and 20 key genes involved in the development and progression of type 2 diabetes were finally screened. These 20 key genes were involved in 529 GO enrichment results and 20 KEGG enrichment results, and were mainly associated with ECM–receptor interaction, Focal adhesion, Human papillomavirus infection, PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, and the Toll-like receptor signaling pathway. A total of two target genes (SPP1, collagen IV) were found to be highly correlated with type 2 diabetes mellitus combined with MASLD. Real time PCR results showed that there was a significant difference in SPP1 and collagen IV mRNA expression among the three groups (P < 0.05). SPP1 and Collagen IV may be candidate biomarkers for type 2 diabetes mellitus combined with MASLD, as verified by bioinformatics screening and in vitro experiments. Aims: This work aims to investigate the association between obesity and risk of delayed discharge and unplanned readmission in day surgery patients. Background: Day surgeries are well received and developing rapidly. Associations between obesity and delayed discharge and unplanned readmission, which are clinically relevant outcomes in day surgeries, are complex. Design: A systematic review and meta‐analysis was conducted. Data Sources: The PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, CNKI, VIP, and Wan Fang databases were comprehensively searched from inception until January 2021. Review Methods: Two independent reviewers assessed the studies and extracted data. Pooled estimates were obtained using a random‐effects model. Results: Eleven articles published between 2007 and 2020 were finally included. Obesity appeared not to increase the risk of delayed discharge. However, morbid obesity seemed to be associated with a higher risk of delayed discharge. The meta‐analysis revealed no relationship between higher body mass index (BMI) and unplanned readmission for day surgery patients. Conclusions: Obesity appeared not to increase the risk of delayed discharge except in patients with morbid obesity. Additionally, a higher BMI was not associated with increased risk of unplanned readmission after day surgery. Future studies are required to address this issue further in different types of surgery and areas. Summary statement: What is already known about this topic? The complexity and flexibility of day surgeries have gradually broadened, but selecting the most suitable patients for day surgery is important for safety.Controversies exist on the association between obesity and risk of delayed discharge and unplanned readmission in day surgery patients. Aims: This study aims to establish a population pharmacokinetic (PK) model of teicoplanin in Chinese adult patients to evaluate the dosing regimen in the label sheet and optimize it. Methods: Nonlinear mixed‐effects modelling was used to estimate PK parameters. Monte Carlo simulations were used to evaluate the attainment of various dosing regimens in achieving the target trough concentrations in patients with normal or decreased renal function. Results: A total of 115 patients were enrolled in this retrospective study. Creatinine clearance (CrCL) and albumin (ALB) were identified as covariates on the clearance of teicoplanin. For the treatment of non‐complicated methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections in patients with normal renal function and serum ALB concentration, the recommended dosing regimen was 600 mg q12h with five administrations as the loading dose followed by 600 mg qd as the maintenance dose; for the treatment of serious and/or complicated MRSA infections, the recommended dosing regimen was 800 mg q12h with five administrations as the loading dose followed by 800 mg qd as the maintenance dose. It is worth noting that both the loading and maintenance doses ought to be modified based on the patient's renal function and serum ALB concentration. In addition, trough concentrations of teicoplanin were significantly increased every other week. Conclusions: Both loading dosing and maintenance dosing regimens were recommended to be adjusted according to patient's renal function and serum ALB concentration. We introduce the two‐sided Rayleigh quotient shift to the QR algorithm for non‐Hermitian matrices to achieve a cubic local convergence rate. For the singly shifted case, the two‐sided Rayleigh quotient iteration is incorporated into the QR iteration. A modified version of the method and its truncated version are developed to improve the efficiency. Based on the observation that the Francis double‐shift QR iteration is related to a 2D Grassmann–Rayleigh quotient iteration, A doubly shifted QR algorithm with the two‐sided 2D Grassmann–Rayleigh quotient double‐shift is proposed. A modified version of the method and its truncated version are also developed. Numerical examples are presented to show the convergence behavior of the proposed algorithms. Numerical examples also show that the truncated versions of the modified methods outperform their counterparts including the standard Rayleigh quotient single‐shift and the Francis double‐shift. A type of artificial boundary layer for the numerical simulation of wave propagation, which is named the gradient viscoelastic (GV) boundary layer, is proposed in this study. The setting of the GV boundary layer was established according to the propagation behavior of the longitudinal wave in the elastic GV rod, the analytical solution of the longitudinal wave propagation in the GV rod was obtained via the Wentzel–Kramers–Brillouin (WKB) method, and the zero-reflection and attenuation condition was determined. The settings of the GV boundary layer in the 1D and 2D time-domain simulations were applied to numerical examples and then compared. Numerical results showed that setting the GV boundary layer in the structure could remarkably reduce the error caused by truncation, and the combined GV boundary and low-reflection (LR) boundary presented the best combination. We generalize the recently proposed two‐sided Rayleigh quotient single‐shift and the two‐sided Grassmann–Rayleigh quotient double‐shift used in the QR algorithm and apply the generalized versions to the QZ algorithm. With such shift strategies the QZ algorithm normally has a cubic local convergence rate. Our main focus is on the modified shift strategies and their corresponding truncated versions. Numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the convergence properties and the efficiency of the QZ algorithm equipped with the proposed shifts. For the truncated versions, local convergence analysis is not provided. Purpose: Postoperative adjuvant trans-catheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) is regarded as a common strategy for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients at a high risk of recurrence. However, there are currently no clinically available biomarkers to predict adjuvant TACE response. Vessels that encapsulate tumor clusters (VETC) can be used as an independent predictor of HCC prognosis. In this study, we aimed to explore whether the VETC pattern could predict adjuvant TACE benefit. Methods: Vascular pattern and HIF-1α expression were detected in immunohistochemistry. The survival benefit of adjuvant TACE therapy for patients with or without VETC pattern (VETC+ /VETC−) was evaluated. Results: The adjuvant TACE therapy obviously improved the TTR and OS in VETC+ patients, while adjuvant TACE therapy could not benefit from VETC− patients. Univariate and multivariate analysis revealed that adjuvant TACE therapy significantly improved the TTR and OS in VETC+ patients, but not in VETC- patients. In addition, the VETC+ , but not VETC− , patients could benefit from adjuvant TACE therapy in patients with high-risk factors of vascular invasion, larger tumor or multiple tumor. The mechanistic investigations revealed that the favorable efficacy of adjuvant TACE on VETC+ patients, but not VETC− ones, may be not due to the activation of HIF-1α pathway. Conclusion: The VETC pattern may represent a novel and reliable factor for selecting HCC patients who may benefit from adjuvant TACE therapy, and the combination of VETC pattern and tumor characteristics may help stratify patients' outcomes and responses to adjuvant TACE therapy. Background Adding radiotherapy (RT) to systemic therapy improves progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) in oligometastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Whether these findings translate to epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)–mutated NSCLC remains unknown. The SINDAS trial (NCT02893332) evaluated first-line tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapy for EGFR -mutated synchronous oligometastatic NSCLC and randomized to upfront RT vs no RT; we now report the prespecified interim analysis at 68% accrual. Methods Inclusion criteria were biopsy-proven EGFR -mutated adenocarcinoma (per amplification refractory mutation system or next generation sequencing), with synchronous (newly diagnosed, treatment naïve) oligometastatic (≤5 metastases; ≤2 lesions in any one organ) NSCLC without brain metastases. All patients received a first-generation TKI (gefitinib, erlotinib, or icotinib), and randomization was between no RT vs RT (25-40 Gy in 5 fractions depending on tumor size and location) to all metastases and the primary tumor/involved regional lymphatics. The primary endpoint (intention to treat) was PFS. Secondary endpoints included OS and toxicities. All statistical tests were 2-sided. Results A total of 133 patients (n = 65 TKI only, n = 68 TKI with RT) were enrolled (2016-2019). The median follow-up was 23.6 months. The respective median PFS was 12.5 months vs 20.2 months (P  < .001), and the median OS was 17.4 months vs 25.5 months (P  < .001) for TKI only vs TKI with RT. Treatment yielded no grade 5 events and a 6% rate of symptomatic grade 3-4 pneumonitis in the TKI with RT arm. Based on the efficacy results of this prespecified interim analysis, the ethics committee recommended premature cessation of this trial. The global space sector has to increasingly consider sustainability concerns in the orbit, given the rising challenge of space debris. In which direction the management of space debris will develop in terms of technological solutions, policies, and actor strategies remains still unclear. This paper applies the concept of 'global socio-technical regimes' to better understand how actors in the global space sector frame, conceive, and legitimize the space debris problem. More specifically, we apply a discourse network analysis method – sociotechnical configuration analysis – to identify and map different value orientations by core actors over the last fifteen years. This analysis reveals three development stages in the discourse: a problem identification period (2007–2011), followed by the rise of national interests amidst increasing promises of space-based infrastructures (2012–2015), and finally, the emergence of a global socio-technical regime that increasingly connects space sustainability with Earth-bound sustainability (2016–2019). Based on our analysis, we expect that ensuring future earth-space sustainability will include a broader mix of challenges. Two new chromones, 2-(2-(furan-2-yl)-2-oxoethyl)-6-methoxy-8-(2-oxopropyl)-chromone (1) and 2-(2-(furan-2-yl)-2-oxoethyl)-5-methoxy-8-(2-oxopropyl)-chromone (2), along with four known ones (3–6) were isolated from the stem bark of Cassia auriculata. The new compounds were elucidated by means of spectroscopic methods, whereas the known compounds were identified by comparison with the data in the literature. Compounds 1 and 2 were tested for their anti-tobacco mosaic virus (anti-TMV) activities. The results revealed that 1 and 2 exhibited potential anti-TMV activities with inhibition rates of 28.2 and 30.5% respectively, and these rates are close to that of the positive control. Compounds 1 and 2 were also tested for their anti-rotavirus activities, and compounds 1 and 2 showed potential activity with therapeutic index (TI) values of 14.8 and 15.9 respectively. Organic pollutants cause severe environmental problems because of their damage to human health and ecological systems. Photocatalytic degradation of persistent organic pollutants is of great importance to address these hazards. Herein, we report a lanthanide organic polyhedra‐based hybrid material Gd8L12⊂MSN with the capability of photocatalytic dye degradation. Gd8L12⊂MSN was prepared by embedding the Gd8L12 complex into mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) using a "ship‐in‐a‐bottle" strategy. Photocurrent response tests revealed that this hybrid material is a potential semiconductor and could generate a rapid and steady photocurrent upon irradiation. Further dye degradation experiments indicated that it could photocatalyze the degradation of familiar organic dyes. Thereinto, compared with the critical Gd8L12 complex, the hybrid material exhibited an acceleration of 2.4 times and realized reusability. This not only offers a potential advanced photocatalyst for degrading persistent organic pollutants, but also provides a strategy for the application of supramolecular materials in environmental science. The current study replicated Wang and Singer's ([2021]. A cross-cultural study of self-defining memories in Chinese and American college students. Frontiers in Psychology, 11. ) finding that Chinese college students from the People's Republic of China (PRC) recalled more self-defining memories (SDMs) focused on high school academic stress than their American counterparts. Seventy-eight American students from a private 4-year liberal arts college and 96 Chinese students from 13 different Chinese universities recalled two SDMs and rated them for affect, recall frequency, and importance. Once again, Chinese college students were more likely than American students to recall academic stress SDMs, but also expressed more redemptive themes in these memories. Overall, Chinese students rated their SDMs as more positive than the Americans, while the American sample tended to recall their negative memories more frequently. Contrasting the SDMs, American students self-reported higher levels of stress about their high school workload and less academic self-confidence. Regressions linked more negative affect in American SDMs to these work load and self-confidence concerns. Chinese students' SDM negative affect was most strongly predicted by perceived academic stress linked to parental and teachers' expectations. The discussion highlights the potential influence of Confucian values in the Chinese students' responses to past academic stress and their internalisation of academic stress memories in their narrative identity. Purpose: Tumor size is an important prognostic factor without consideration of the necrotic and cystic components within tumor for patients with gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs). We aimed to extract the enhancing viable component from the tumor using computed tomography (CT) post-processing software and evaluate the value of preoperative CT features for predicting the disease-free survival (DFS) after curative resection for patients with primary gastric GISTs. Methods: 132 Patients with primary gastric GISTs who underwent preoperative contrast-enhanced CT and curative resection were retrospectively analyzed. We used a certain CT attenuation of 30 HU to extract the enhancing tissue component from the tumor. Enhancing tissue volume and other CT features were assessed on venous-phase images. We evaluated the value of preoperative CT features for predicting the DFS after surgery. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses were performed to find the independent risk factor for predicting the DFS. Results: Of the 132 patients, 68 were males and 64 were females, with a mean age of 61 years. The median follow-up duration was 60 months, and 28 patients experienced disease recurrence and distant metastasis during the follow-up period. Serosal invasion (p < 0.001; HR = 5.277) and enhancing tissue volume (p = 0.005; HR = 1.447) were the independent risk factors for predicting the DFS after curative resection for patients with primary gastric GISTs. Conclusion: Preoperative contrast-enhanced CT could be useful for predicting the DFS after the surgery of gastric GISTs, and serosal invasion and enhancing tissue volume were the independent risk factors. Limited data are available for ceftazidime–avibactam (CZA) dosing in patients receiving renal replacement therapy, especially the data on the dosing in patients receiving intermittent hemodialysis (IHD). In this report, we firstly described a case in which CZA was administered as 2.5 g after each time of IHD, and a dose of 1.25 g was added on the 48th-hour for the 72-h interdialytic interval. Plasma concentrations of CZA measured at different time indicated that > 50% of administered ceftazidime and avibactam were removed during the 4-h hemodialysis. In addition, we described another case on continuous venovenous hemodialysis (CVVHD), in which CZA was administered as 2.5 g q12h in 2-h infusions. The dose regimen for these two cases could achieve trough concentration of ceftazidime higher than fourfold of the MIC and trough concentration of avibactam higher than the threshold of 1 μg/mL during the treatment, and exert efficient antimicrobial effect. Solar driven water-to-hydrogen conversion is a promising technology for the typical sustainable production mode, so increasing efforts are being devoted to exploit high-performance photocatalytic materials. Cadmium sulfide (CdS) is widely used to prepare highly active photocatalysts owing to its merits of broadband-light harvesting and feasible band structure. However, the slow photo-carriersʹ migration in CdS body structure generally results in high-frequency carriers recombination, which leads to unsatisfied photoactivity. Metallic single-atom surface decoration is an effective method to build the strong metal-support interaction for promotion of photo-carriersʹ migration. Herein, a simple light-induced reduction procedure was proposed to decorate single-atomic Pt on the surface of CdS nanoparticles for highly photocatalytic HER activity. Research showed that the synergetic metal (Pt)-semiconductor (CdS) interaction significantly promoted the body-to-surface (BTS) photo-carriers' migration of CdS, thereby the high light-to-fuel conversion efficiency (AQY 500 nm = 25.70%) and 13.5-fold greater simulated sunlight driven HER rate of bare CdS was achieved by this CdS-Pt nano-photocatalyst. Based on the photo-electrochemical analysis and density functional theory calculations, the remarkably improved HER photoactivity can be attributed to the enhanced light-harvesting, promoted BTS electron migration and reduced reaction energy barriers. Composite stiffened panels have become one of the most usual components in the design process of the aircraft's structure due to their splendid mechanical properties in the last decades. The main purpose of this work is investigating and presenting a more precise method to forecast the residual compressive mechanical behavior of the composite stiffened panel. First of all, an axial compression after impact (CAI) test is performed to understand the failure mechanism of different type of L‐shaped stiffened carbon fiber reinforced polymer panels with barely visible impact damage, which is introduced by the low velocity impact test. Subsequently, a finite element model, which contains a quantification damage model, is established in ABAQUS software based on the CAI test results to predict the mechanical behavior of these composite stiffened panels during the CAI test process. Both of the experimental and predicted results demonstrate that the propagation of the delamination caused by LVI is going to exert a destructive influence on the total failure of the composite stiffened panel, and the prediction results of the residual compressive strength of these composite stiffened panels are well consistent to that measured in the CAI test. Objective. The purpose was to compare the accuracy of extraprostatic extension (EPE) grade on MRI predicting EPE with Partin tables, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center nomogram (MSKCCn), and combined models and to analyze the clinical incremental value of EPE grade. Materials and Methods. 105 prostate cancer patients confirmed by pathology after radical prostatectomy in our hospital from 2017 to 2021 were selected. The clinical stage, PSA, Gleason score, number of positive biopsy cores, and percentage of positive biopsy cores were recorded. Evaluate EPE grade according to EPE grade criteria, and calculate the probability of predicting EPE with Partin tables and MSKCCn. EPE grade is combined with Partin tables and MSKCCn to construct EPE grade+Partin tables and EPE grade+MSKCCn models. Calculate the area under the curve (AUC), sensitivity, and specificity of EPE grade, Partin tables, MSKCCn, EPE grade+Partin tables, and EPE grade+MSKCCn and compare their diagnostic efficacy. The clinical decision curve was used to analyze the clinical net income of each prediction scheme. Results. The AUC of EPE grade was 0.79, Partin tables was 0.50, MSKCCn was 0.78, the EPE grade+Partin table model was 0.79, and the EPE grade+MSKCCn model was 0.83. After EPE grade was combined with Partin tables and MSKCCn, the diagnostic efficiency of clinical model was significantly improved (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the diagnostic efficacy of the combined model compared with the single EPE grade (P > 0.05). The calibration curve of the combined model shows that it has a good calibration degree for EPE. In the analysis of the decision curve, the net income of the EPE grade is higher than that of Partin tables and MSKCCn and is equal to the EPE grade+Partin tables and is slightly lower than that of EPE grade+MSKCCn. The clinical net income of the combined model is obviously higher than that of individual clinical models. Conclusion. The accuracy of EPE classification in predicting prostate cancer EPE is high, and combined with the clinical model, it can significantly improve the diagnostic efficiency of the clinical model and increase the clinical benefit. Quantum state transition is the core content of quantum control. This paper presents a control scheme of the state evolution path based on feedback control and reverse engineering design. To achieve high-precision state transition, we first adopt a homodyne-based feedback control strategy to form a closed-loop system. Then, based on the idea of reverse engineering design, the state evolution path of the system is planned and designed by considering the influence of environment decoherence on the state evolution. Numerical simulation results show that the control pulse based on planning design can drive the system from any initial state to the desired target state, and the coherence of the system is effectively protected during state transition. An ethanol/(NH 4) 2 SO 4 biphasic (aqueous two-phase) system was designed to effectively separate antioxidant peptides from Xuanwei ham, and its potential to prevent ultraviolet A-induced damage to skin cells was explored. Optimization via single factor experiments and response surface methodology revealed that under 20 % ethanol aqueous solution (w/w), 25.5 % (NH 4) 2 SO 4 aqueous solution (w/w), and pH 8.80 conditions, the optimal extraction ratio was 59.0 ± 1.73 %. In vitro antioxidant activity and cellular assays showed that the peptide purified in the upper phase exhibited strong antioxidant activity, increasing the viability of HaCat cells damaged by UVA irradiation from 56.14 ± 1.05 % to 66.3 ± 1.76 %. Moreover, there is insufficient regulatory information regarding bioactive peptides and related products globally. This review summarizes diverse bioactive peptides derived from dry-cured ham and by-products originating from various countries and regions. The bioactivity, preparation techniques, bioavailability, and metabolic stability of these bioactive peptides are described, as well as the legal and regulatory frameworks in various countries. The primary objectives of this review are to dig deeper into the functionality of dry-cured ham and provide theoretical support for the commercialization of bioactive peptides from food sources, especially the dry-cured ham. Single-atomic gold decorated CdS nanocatalyst for atom transfer radical addition of alkenes under blue-LED light. Atom transfer radical addition (ATRA) is commonly applied to introduce perfluoroalkyl groups into organic molecules, but it often suffers from harsh reaction condition, poor yield and expensive catalyst usage for practical application. Light-induced ATRA reaction is of great significance due to its merits of mild reaction condition and easy operation, but it is generally difficult to achieve high yield because of the lack of ideal photosensitizers. Herein, an Au single-atom sites (SASs) decorated hexagonal cadmium sulfide (CdS) nanocatalyst (Cat CdS-Au) was synthesized to catalyze ATRA reaction under mild blue-LED-induction. As a result, the synergetic effect of CdS-Au interaction enhanced the optical properties and promoted the host (CdS)-guest (Au) electron transfer, leading to high ATRA yields (88–98%) and excellent selectivity even choosing different alkene substrates, which is remarkably superior over existing reaction systems (60–90% yields) ever reported in literatures. Summary: In this study, a promising nanoparticle of casein peptide–zinc chelate (CNP‐Zn) for zinc supplementation was obtained. The structure properties and transepithelial transport mechanism were investigated. The amino acid composition, particle size, zeta potential and microstructure were significantly changed after chelation with zinc ions. The results of fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy suggested that the oxygen atoms from both the carboxyl and carbonyl groups, amides, were responsible for zinc chelation. After gastrointestinal digestion, over 40% of zinc remained bound in CNP–Zn. The transepithelial transport results showed that paracellular route and PepT1 transporter were involved in the absorption of CNP–Zn, and almost 50% of the bound zinc was co‐transported with peptides. Purpose: The aim of this study is to explore the effects of liraglutide (LRG) on the expression of FTO, AMPK, and AKT in the visceral adipose tissues of obese and diabetic rats and the underlying mechanisms thereof. Methods: Thirty SPF-grade, male SD rats were randomly divided into the healthy control, diabetic model (DM), and DM + LRG groups. The DM and DM + LRG groups were administered normal saline and LRG (0.6 mg/kg/d), respectively. After 12 weeks, the body weight of the rats was measured, and their visceral adipose tissues were collected and weighed; the levels of serum biochemical indicators and FTO, AMPK, and AKT in these tissues were then measured using qRT-PCR and western blotting. Results: Compared to the control group, the body weight and visceral fat accumulation and blood glucose, TG, TC, and LDL-C levels increased significantly, while the HDL-C levels decreased significantly, in the DM group (p < 0.05). After LRG treatment, the HDL-C levels increased significantly, but the levels of the other indicators decreased significantly (p < 0.05). Compared to the control group, the visceral adipose tissue levels of FTO and AKT increased significantly, while the AMPK levels decreased significantly in the DM group (p < 0.05). After LRG treatment, the FTO and AKT levels decreased significantly, and the AMPK levels increased significantly (p < 0.05). We report here a simple but efficient "ship-in-a-bottle" synthetic strategy for increasing the stability and luminescence performance of LOPs by embedding them into mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs). Three types of hybrid materials, i.e. Eu8L12@MSNs, Eu8L12@MSNs-NH2 and Eu8L12@MSNs-biotin, have been prepared and characterized by FT-IR, TGA, SEM and TEM. Photo-optical measurements confirmed that the photoluminescence quantum yields in water have been greatly improved from 5.50% for pristine Eu8L12 to 44.04% for Eu8L12@MSNs-biotin, along with fast disassembly for the former and the optical performance has been maintained for the latter under acidic conditions (pH = 4). Moreover, compared to Eu8L12, Eu8L12@MSNs and Eu8L12@MSNs-NH2, the biotin-modified hybrid material Eu8L12@MSNs-biotin has exhibited much enhanced fluorescence-imaging ability toward the MDA-MB-231 human breast cancer cells, with significantly reduced dosage of the complex. Lignin, a biopolymer generated from renewable resources, is widely present in terrestrial plants and possesses notable biosafety characteristics. The objective of this work was to assess the edible safety, in vitro antioxidant, and anti-cancer properties of various lignin fractions isolated from commercially available coffee beans often used for coffee preparation. The findings suggest that the phenolic hydroxyl content increased from 3.26 mmol/g (ED70L) to 5.81 mmol/g (ED0L) with decreasing molecular weight, which resulted in more significant antioxidant properties of the low molecular weight lignin fraction. The findings of the study indicate that the viability of RAW 264.7 and HaCaT cells decreased as the quantity of lignin fractions increased. It was observed that concentrations below 200 μg/mL did not exhibit any harmful effects on normal cells. The results of the study demonstrated a significant reduction of cancer cell growth (specifically A375 cells) at a concentration of 800 μg/mL for all lignin fractions, with an observed inhibition rate of 95 %. The results of this study indicate that the lignin extracts derived from coffee beans exhibit significant potential in mitigating diseases resulting from excessive radical production. Furthermore, these extracts show promise as natural antioxidants and anti-cancer agents. Chiral quantum optics has attracted considerable interest in the field of quantum information science. Exploiting the spin‐polarization properties of quantum emitters and engineering rational photonic nanostructures has made it possible to transform information from spin to path encoding. Here, compact chiral photonic circuits with deterministic circularly polarized chiral routing and beamsplitting are demonstrated using two laterally adjacent waveguides coupled with quantum dots. Chiral routing arises from the electromagnetic field chirality in waveguide, and beamsplitting is obtained via the evanescent field coupling. The spin‐ and position‐dependent directional spontaneous emission are achieved by spatially selective micro‐photoluminescence measurements, with a chiral contrast of up to 0.84 in the chiral photonic circuits. Given the fixed parking locations of morning commuters, the Nash equilibrium principle is employed to formulate commuters' departure time choice in the evening and the user equilibrium principle in terms of daily travel cost is adopted to formulate the departure time choice of morning commuters. A combined regime of linear location-dependent parking fee and time-varying road toll is then proposed to reduce the total social cost (TSC) for the linear city. All the possible equilibrium traffic flows are analytically derived. The analytical results show that (1) commuters, who arrive at work early in the morning, may not depart early in the evening, but their evening trip costs must be lower; (2) when the parking spaces become denser, the evening commute starts earlier and the morning commute starts later; (3) a linear location-dependent parking fee could either advance or postpone the earliest departure time in the morning; (4) three parking modes, distinguished by the order in which commuters park, occur successively as the parking fee rate increases; and (5) an appropriate parking fee can always improve the system efficiency, but no matter how the parking fee is changed, it is impossible to completely eliminate the efficiency loss in the morning. Semiclassical Transition State Theory (SCTST), a method for calculating rate constants of chemical reactions, offers gains in computational efficiency relative to more accurate quantum scattering methods. In full-dimensional (FD) SCTST, reaction probabilities are calculated from third and fourth potential derivatives along all vibrational degrees of freedom. However, the computational cost of FD SCTST scales unfavorably with system size, which prohibits its application to larger systems. In this study, the accuracy and efficiency of 1-D SCTST, in which only third and fourth derivatives along the reaction mode are used, are investigated in comparison to those of FD SCTST. Potential derivatives are obtained from numerical ab initio Hessian matrix calculations at the MP2/cc-pVTZ level of theory, and Richardson extrapolation is applied to improve the accuracy of these derivatives. Reaction barriers are calculated at the CCSD(T)/cc-pVTZ level. Results from FD SCTST agree with results from previous theoretical and experimental studies when Richardson extrapolation is applied. Results from our implementation of 1-D SCTST, which uses only 4 single-point MP2/cc-pVTZ energy calculations in addition to those for conventional TST, agree with FD results to within a factor of 5 at 250 K. This degree of agreement and the efficiency of the 1-D method suggest its potential as a means of approximating rate constants for systems too large for existing quantum scattering methods. We investigate which terms in Reduced-Dimensionality Semiclassical Transition State Theory (RD SCTST) contribute most significantly in rate constant calculations of hydrogen extraction and exchange reactions of hydrocarbons.We also investigate the importance of deep tunneling corrections to the theory. In addition, we introduce a novel formulation of the theory in Jacobi coordinates. For the reactions of H atoms with methane, ethane, and cyclopropane, we find that a one-dimensional (1-D) version of the theory without deep tunneling corrections compares well with 2-D SCTST results and accurate quantum scattering results. For the "heavy-light-heavy" H atom exchange reaction between CH3 and CH4, deep tunneling corrections are needed to yield 1-D results that compare well with 2-D results. The finding that accurate rate constants can be obtained from derivatives of the potential along only one dimension further validates RD SCTST as a computationally efficient yet accurate rate constant theory. Cryptococcus neoformans (C. neoformans) is a pathogenic fungus that can cause life-threatening meningitis, particularly in individuals with compromised immune systems. The current standard treatment involves the combination of amphotericin B and azole drugs, but this regimen often leads to inevitable toxicity in patients. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop new antifungal drugs with improved safety profiles. We screened antimicrobial peptides from the hemolymph transcriptome of Blaps rhynchopetera (B. rhynchopetera), a folk Chinese medicine. We found an antimicrobial peptide named blap-6 that exhibited potent activity against bacteria and fungi. Blap-6 is composed of 17 amino acids (KRCRFRIYRWGFPRRRF), and it has excellent antifungal activity against C. neoformans, with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 0.81 μM. Blap-6 exhibits strong antifungal kinetic characteristics. Mechanistic studies revealed that blap-6 exerts its antifungal activity by penetrating and disrupting the integrity of the fungal cell membrane. In addition to its direct antifungal effect, blap-6 showed strong biofilm inhibition and scavenging activity. Notably, the peptide exhibited low hemolytic and cytotoxicity to human cells and may be a potential candidate antimicrobial drug for fungal infection caused by C. neoformans. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: The objective of this study is to provide a description of a group of retrospective cohort outcomes in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) complicated with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) receiving belimumab. Methods: This study reports on the treatment of 10 female patients (mean age 34.3 ± 14.0 years, mean weight 58.7 ± 18.2 kg) with both SLE and ITP who received belimumab in addition to basic drug therapy. The belimumab treatment regimen consisted of a dosage of 10 mg/kg, with an initial infusion every 2 weeks for the first 3 doses, followed by an infusion every 4 weeks. Results: Ten patients were included in the study. The overall response rate of thrombocytopenia was 90% after treatment. The parameters such as platelet count, lymphocyte count, erythrocyte count, hemoglobin, dsDNA, C3, and C4 were significantly improved (p <.05). The SLE Disease Activity Index (SLEDAI), British Islet lupus Assessment Group 2004 (BILAG-2004), and Physician Global assessment (PGA) scores were significantly decreased (p <.05). There were no significant differences in glutamic pyruvic transaminase (ALT), glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (AST), and serum creatinine (Scr) before and after treatment (p >.05). Conclusion: Belimumab shows promising clinical outcomes in the treatment on patients with both SLE and ITP. Further studies are needed to validate these findings in larger patient populations and compare the efficacy of belimumab with other treatments for SLE complicated with ITP. Mulberry has significant hypoglycemic effect and can be used as an auxiliary food for people with type 2 diabetes. However, it is rich in carbohydrate and cannot be consumed directly by diabetic patients. In the study, we fermented the mulberry to reduce the content of glucose and fructose, and added the soybean to reduce the loss of probiotics during fermentation and then determined its hypoglycemic effect. We induced type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) mice by streptozotocin and measured its blood glucose, serum biochemistry, hepatic and pancreatic histopathology, and the diversity of the gut microbiota. After 5 weeks of oral DFMS administration, the glucose tolerance was improved significantly in T2DM mice. Furthermore, there were also significant increases in superoxide dismutase activity and glutathione concentration, and marked reductions in the concentrations of malondialdehyde and free fatty acids. Moreover, DFMS also prevented histopathological changes and the increases in the activities of alanine transaminase and aspartate transaminase. DFMS treatment also markedly increased the richness of the gut microbial community. The abundance of Bacteroidetes was increased, and those of Proteobacteria, Escherichia‐Shigella, and Lactobacillus were reduced. In summary, DFMS has a clear hypoglycemic effect in mice with T2DM. Herein, we report a comprehensive study on the lanthanide‐directed coordination self‐assembly with two bis‐tetradentate acylhydrazone ligands H4L1 and H4L2. Multifarious outcomes, which are base‐ and metal‐dependent, were revealed by NMR, ESI‐TOF‐MS and X‐ray crystallography. In the absence of base, bent H4L1 was assembled into dinuclear double‐strand helicate Ln2(H2L1)2 by partially‐deprotonated assembly with La, Sm or Eu, while trinuclear Ln3(H2L1)3 with Yb or Lu. For linear H4L2, infinite 1D zig‐zag metal‐organic polymeric chain (Ln2H2L2)n was obtained. However, complete deprotonated L1 and L2 assembled into discrete trinuclear Ln3(L1/2)3 and tetranuclear Ln4(L1/2)4 macrocyclic structures under the basic condition. For these, there are multiple possible isomers coexisting in the solution which were enumerated and simulated with molecular mechanic modeling. We explore the structure of the energy spectra of quasi-one dimensional organic conductors subjected to the field-induced spin-density-wave (FISDW) state. We show that the structure of the energy spectra can exhibit Hofstadter butterfly, which is generally believed to appear in two dimensional systems. The phenomenon of the quantized Hall conductance due to FISDW is also investigated. We find that the Hall number L, which is defined by L = σxy/(e²/h), coincides with the number described by FISDW order parameter. Purpose. To explore the regulatory effects of liraglutide on the kidney and liver through the miR-34a/SIRT1 pathway with related factors in diabetic nephropathy (DN) rats. Methods. DN rats were randomly divided into two groups (n = 10) and were injected with liraglutide or normal saline twice a day. The 24-hour urine microalbumin content and biochemical index levels were measured. qRT-PCR was performed to detect the expression of miR-34a in the kidney and liver tissues. The levels of SIRT1, HIF-1a, Egr-1, and TGF-β1 in kidney and liver tissues were determined using qRT-PCR, western blot, and immunohistochemistry. Electron microscopy and HE staining were used to observe the ultrastructure and pathological changes. Results. Liraglutide treatment in DN rats decreased blood glucose, 24-hour urine microalbumin, TC, TG, LDL-C, UA, Cr, UREA, ALT, and AST levels and increased the level of HDL-C (P < 0.05). Compared with the control group, the miR-34a levels were significantly decreased in kidney and liver tissues followed by liraglutide treatment (P < 0.05). The levels of SIRT1 in the liraglutide group are significantly higher than those in the control group with the kidney and liver tissues (P < 0.05). Conversely, the contents of HIF-1a, Egr-1, and TGF-β1 were significantly lower in the liraglutide group than in the control group (P < 0.05). Electron microscopy showed that the kidney of the liraglutide-treated group exhibited minor broadening of the mesangial areas, fewer deposits, and a well-organized foot process. HE staining revealed that the kidney of the liraglutide-treated rats had a more regular morphology of the glomerulus and Bowman sac cavity and lighter tubular edema. Additionally, the liraglutide-treated DN rats had a clear hepatic structure, a lower degree of steatosis, and mild inflammatory cell infiltration. Conclusion. Chiral light–matter interaction between photonic nanostructures with quantum emitters shows great potential to implement spin–photon interfaces for quantum information processing. Position-dependent spin momentum locking of the quantum emitter is important for these chiral coupled nanostructures. Here, we report the position-dependent chiral coupling between quantum dots (QDs) and cross waveguides both numerically and experimentally. Four quantum dots distributed at different positions in the cross section are selected to characterize the chiral properties of the device. Directional emission is achieved in a single waveguide and in both two waveguides simultaneously. In addition, the QD position can be determined with the chiral contrasts from four outputs. Therefore, the cross waveguide can function as a one-way unidirectional waveguide and a circularly polarized beam splitter by placing the QD at a rational position, which has potential applications in spin-to-path encoding for complex quantum optical networks at the single-photon level. A new fermented food by utilizing pineapple by-products and whey protein as the matrix via co-fermentation with strains of lactic acid bacteria and yeast is developed. We investigated its impact on human well-being, focusing on the bioavailability and physiological viability of the resulting pineapple–whey protein fermented product (PWF) under simulated human gastrointestinal conditions. We evaluated PWF's potential as a prebiotic using in vitro fermentation assays, revealing that its probiotic components effectively reached the colon and functioned without hindrance. This transit triggered significant release of phenolic compounds, establishing an antioxidant-rich environment during simulated digestion. In vitro fermentation experiments showcased PWF's capacity to induce short-chain fatty acid production in the intestines, alongside its ability to influence the microbial community composition. Additionally, we explored how PWF-induced alterations in the gut microbiota might impact human health. • Ultrasound-assisted extraction could be a good method for extracting larvae proteins. • Ultrasound-assisted extraction could improve properties of larvae proteins. • The findings could promote the wider application of larvae proteins in food industry. In this study, we developed an ultrasound-assisted alkaline method for extracting black soldier fly larvae protein (BSFLP). The effects of ultrasound-assisted extraction on the nutritional value, structural characteristics, and techno-functional properties of BSFLP were compared with those using the conventional hot alkali method. The results showed that ultrasound-assisted extraction significantly increased the extraction ratio of BSFLP from 55.40% to 80.37%, but reduced the purity from 84.19% to 80.75%. The BSFLP extracted by ultrasound-assisted extraction met the amino acid requirements for humans proposed by the Food and Agriculture Organization in 2013, and ultrasound-assisted extraction did not alter the limiting amino acids of the BSFLP. The ultrasound-assisted extraction increased the in vitro protein digestibility from 82.97% to 99.79%. Moreover, ultrasound-assisted extraction obtained BSFLP with a more ordered secondary structure and more loosely porous surface morphology, without breaking the peptide bonds. By contrast, the conventional hot alkaline method hydrolyzed BSFLP into smaller fragments. The effect of ultrasound-assisted extraction on the structure of BSFLP improved the solubility and emulsion capacity of BSFLP, but reduced its foaming properties. In conclusion, the results of this study suggest that ultrasound-assisted alkaline extraction could be a suitable method for extracting BSFLP and improving its nutritional value, and structural and functional properties. This paper focuses on algorithms for the truncated Takagi factorization of complex symmetric matrices. The problem is formulated as a Riemannian optimization problem on a complex Stiefel manifold and then is converted into a real Riemannian optimization problem on the intersection of the real Stiefel manifold and the quasi-symplectic set. The steepest descent, the Riemannian nonmonotone conjugate gradient, Newton, and hybrid methods are used for solving the problem and they are compared in their performance for the optimization task. In this paper, we propose new deterministic and Monte Carlo interpolation algorithms for sparse multivariate polynomials represented by straight-line programs. Let f be an n -variate polynomial given by a straight-line program, which has a total degree bound D and a term bound T. Our deterministic algorithm is quadratic in n , T and cubic in log ⁡ D in the Soft-Oh sense, which has better complexities than existing deterministic interpolation algorithms in most cases. Our Monte Carlo interpolation algorithms have better complexities than existing Monte Carlo interpolation algorithms and are the first algorithms whose complexities are linear in nT and polynomial in log ⁡ D in the Soft-Oh sense. Purpose: This study aimed to identify all relevant randomized controlled trials (RCT) and prospective non-RCTs to further investigate whether percutaneous vertebral augmentation (PVA) was associated with clinical and radiological subsequent fractures on unoperated levels. Methods: We systematically searched PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane library, Google Scholar, web of science, and ClinicalTrial.gov from the establishment of the database to January 2020. All eligible studies comparing subsequent fractures after PVA with those after conservative treatment (CT) were incorporated. The pooled risk ratio (RR) with its 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) was used. Heterogeneity, sensitivity, and publication bias analyses were performed. Results: In all, 32 studies were included in the study: 82/512 patients (16.02%) and 58/433 patients (13.39%) had clinical subsequent fractures in the PVA group and CT group, respectively. No significant differences were observed between the two groups [RR = 1.22, 95% CI 0.70–2.12, P = 0.49]. Further, 175/837 patients (20.91%) in the PVA group and 160/828 patients (19.32%) in the CT group had radiological subsequent fractures. No significant difference was observed between groups [RR = 0.91, 95% CI 0.71–2.12, P = 1.16]. Further, no statistical difference was observed on subgroup analysis between RCTs and non-RCTs or PVP and PKP. Conclusion: Our systematic review revealed that subsequent fractures on unoperated levels were not associated with PVA, regardless of whether they were clinical or radiological subsequent fractures. In this work, a novel, simple and label‐free line‐pad‐line electrode (LPLE) biosensor was developed for detection of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF165). DNA aptamer was used as a recognition element for high specificity to VEGF165, and original LPLE as the substrate electrode for high sensitivity of the biosensor. This sensor was prepared by immobilizing anti‐VEGF165 aptamers on the LPLE surface through gold‐sulfur (Au−S) bonding. Upon the addition of VEGF165, a large target‐induced conformational change in the surface‐immobilized aptamer was generated and caused variations in the interfacial properties,which led to a corresponding increase in the impedance magnitude of the LPLE. Finally, our results demonstrate that the calibration curve for VEGF165determination was linear over the range of 0.026‐31.4 fM with a detection limit as low as 0.017 fM.Additionally, our sensor was fabricated on printed circuit board (PCB) with a new electrode construction, and can potentially be implemented with the advantages of simplicity, low‐cost and easy mass production. Besides, considering its desirable sensitivity and specificity, the proposed use of LPLE provided a promising strategy for a wide variety of sensing applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, based on the two-step Newton iterative procedure, we propose a two-step inexact Newton-type method for solving inverse singular value problems. Under some mild assumptions, our results show that the two-step inexact Newton-type method is super quadratically convergent. A silicon‐doped glow discharge polymer (Si‐GDP) was prepared by plasma‐enhanced chemical vapor deposition technique of mixtures of trans‐2‐butene (C4H8), hydrogen (H2), and tetramethylsilane (TMS). The plasma parameters were characterized by mass spectrometry. The film properties of Si‐GDP were investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. At a TMS flow of 0.15 cm3/min, the radial distribution of the relative intensities of CH fragment ions was uniform, which indicates balanced dissociation and polymerization. As the radial distance increases, the ion energy decreases, and the ratio of sp3/sp2 carbon and the atomic ratio of Si increases.
