We develop a general toolbox to study $W^{1,p}$ solutions of differential inclusions $\nabla u \in K$ for unbounded sets $K$. A key notion is the concept that a subset $K$ of the space $\mathbb{R}^{d \times m}$ of $d \times m$ matrices can be reduced to another set $K'$. We establish a Tukia-type theorem for uniform quasiconformal groups of a Carnot group. More generally we establish a fiber bundle version (or foliated version) of Tukia theorem for uniform quasiconformal groups of a nilpotent Lie group whose Lie algebra admits a diagonalizable derivation with positive eigenvalues. In this paper we study uniform quasiconformal groups of Carnot-by-Carnot groups. We show that they can be conjugated into conformal groups provided the induced action on the space of distinct pairs is cocompact. Following the approach of Eskin-Fisher-Whyte these results have applications to quasi-isometric rigidity of certain solvable groups., Comment: 60 pages

We consider Lie groups that are either Heintze groups or Sol-type groups, which generalize the three-dimensional Lie group SOL. We prove that all left-invariant Riemannian metrics on each such a Lie group are roughly similar via the identity. This allows us to reformulate in a common framework former results by Le Donne-Xie, Eskin-Fisher-Whyte, Carrasco Piaggio, and recent results of Ferragut and Kleiner-M\"uller-Xie, on quasiisometries of these solvable groups.

We consider Rumin's filtration on the de Rham complex of a Carnot group. Although Pansu pullback by a Sobolev map is filtration preserving, it need not be a chain mapping. Nonetheless, we show that Pansu pullback induces a mapping of the associated spectral sequences. This gives an alternate interpretation of the Pullback Theorem from our previous paper.

Let $N\subset GL(n,R)$ be the group of upper triangular matrices with $1$s on the diagonal, equipped with the standard Carnot group structure. We show that quasiconformal homeomorphisms between open subsets of $N$, and more generally Sobolev mappings with nondegenerate Pansu differential, are rigid when $n \geq 4$; this settles the Regularity Conjecture for such groups. This result is deduced from a rigidity theorem for the manifold of complete flags in $R^n$. We consider mappings between Carnot groups. In this paper, which is a continuation of "Pansu pullback and rigidity of mappings between Carnot groups" (arXiv:2004.09271), we focus on Carnot groups which are nonrigid in the sense of Ottazzi-Warhurst. We show that quasisymmetric homeomorphisms are reducible in the sense that they preserve a special type of coset foliation, unless the group is isomorphic to R^n or a real or complex Heisenberg group (where the assertion fails). We use this to prove the quasisymmetric rigidity conjecture for such groups. We consider contact manifolds equipped with Carnot-Caratheodory metrics, and show that the Rumin complex is respected by Sobolev mappings: Pansu pullback induces a chain mapping between the smooth Rumin complex and the distributional Rumin complex. As a consequence, the Rumin flat complex -- the analog of the Whitney flat complex in the setting of contact manifolds -- is bilipschitz invariant. We also show that for Sobolev mappings between general Carnot groups, Pansu pullback induces a chain mapping when restricted to a certain differential ideal of the de Rham complex. Both results are applications of the Pullback Theorem from our previous paper.

We show that in an $m$-step Carnot group, a probability measure with finite $m^{th}$ moment has a well-defined Buser-Karcher center-of-mass, which is a polynomial in the moments of the measure, with respect to exponential coordinates. Using this, we improve the main technical result of our previous paper concerning Sobolev mappings between Carnot groups; as a consequence, a number of rigidity and structural results from recent papers hold under weaker assumptions on the Sobolev exponent. We establish quasi-isometric rigidity for a class of right-angled Coxeter groups. Let $\Gamma_1,\Gamma_2$ be joins of finite generalized thick $m$-gons with $m\geq 3$. We show that the corresponding right-angled Coxeter groups are quasi-isometric if and only if $\Gamma_1,\Gamma_2$ are isomorphic. We also give a construction of commensurable right-angled Coxeter groups.

In this note we explain how Day's fixed point theorem can be used to conjugate certain groups of biLipschitz maps of a metric space into special subgroups like similarity groups. In particular, we use Day's theorem to establish Tukia-type theorems and to give new proofs of quasi-isometric rigidity results., Comment: 20 pages

We show that fiber-preserving quasisymmetric maps are biLipschitz. As an application, we show that quasisymmetric maps on Carnot groups with reducible first stratum are biLipschitz.

We study quasiconformal maps on non-rigid Carnot groups equipped with Carnot metric. We show that for most non-rigid Carnot groups N, all quasiconformal maps on N must be biLipschitz.

We study quasiisometries between negatively curved homogeneous manifolds associated with diagonalizable derivations on Heisenberg algebras. We classify these manifolds up to quasiisometry, and show that all quasiisometries between such manifolds (except when they are complex hyperbolic spaces) are almost similarities. We prove these results by studying the quasisymmetric maps on the ideal boundary of these manifolds.

We show that quasiconformal maps on many Carnot groups must be biLipschitz. In particular, this is the case for 2-step Carnot groups with reducible first layer. These results have implications for the rigidity of quasiisometries between negatively curved solvable Lie groups.

We describe all quasiconformal maps on the higher (real and complex) model Filiform groups equipped with the Carnot metric, including non-smooth ones. These maps have very special forms. In particular, they are all biLipschitz and preserve multiple foliations. The results in this paper have implications to the large scale geometry of nilpotent Lie groups and negatively curved solvable Lie groups.

We construct quasiisometries of nilpotent Lie groups. In particular, for any simply connected nilpotent Lie group N, we construct quasiisometries from N to itself that is not at finite distance from any map that is a composition of left translations and automorphisms. We also construct biLipschitz maps of the Heisenberg groups that send vertical lines to non-vertical curves.

We show that for some negatively curved solvable Lie groups, all self quasiisometries are almost isometries. We prove this by showing that all self quasisymmetric maps of the ideal boundary (of the solvable Lie groups) are bilipschitz with respect to the visual metric. We also define parabolic visual metrics on the ideal boundary of Gromov hyperbolic spaces and relate them to visual metrics.

We describe all the self quasisymmetric maps on the ideal boundary of a particular negatively curved solvable Lie group. As applications, we prove a Liouville type theorem, and derive some rigidity properties for quasiisometries of the solvable Lie group.

We classify all negatively curved $\R^n \rtimes \R$ up to quasiisometry. We show that all quasiisometries between such manifolds (except when they are biLipschitz to the real hyperbolic spaces) are almost similarities. We prove these results by studying the quasisymmetric maps on the ideal boundary of these manifolds.

We study finite foldable cubical complexes of nonpositive curvature (in the sense of A.D. Alexandrov). We show that such a complex X admits a graph of spaces decomposition. We show that if a homeomorphism between the ideal boundaries of two Fuchsian buildings preserves the combinatorial cross ratio almost everywhere, then it extends to an isomorphism between the Fuchsian buildings. It follows that Mostow rigidity holds for Fuchsian buildings: if a group acts properly and cocompactly on two Fuchsian buildings X and Y, then X and Y are equivariantly isomorphic., Comment: 58 pages

We investigate the Tits boundary of locally compact CAT(0) 2-complexes. In particular we show that away from the endpoints, a geodesic segment in the Tits boundary is the ideal boundary of an isometrically embedded Euclidean sector. As applications, we provide sufficient conditions for two points in the Tits boundary to be the endpoints of a geodesic in the 2-complex and for a group generated by two hyperbolic isometries to contain a free group. We also show that if two CAT(0) 2-complexes are quasi-isometric then the cores of their Tits boundaries are bi-Lipschitz., Comment: 26 pages

We study groups acting on CAT(0) square complexes. In particular we show if Y is a nonpositively curved (in the sense of A. D. Alexandrov) finite square complex and the vertex links of Y contain no simple loop consisting of five edges, then any subgroup of the fundamental group of Y either is virtually free abelian or contains a free group of rank two. In addition we discuss when a group generated by two hyperbolic isometries contains a free group of rank two and when two points in the ideal boundary of a CAT(0) 2-complex at Tits distance $\pi$ apart are the endpoints of a geodesic in the 2-complex., Comment: 31 pages
